One of the best games in history. And I have just one word to describe it... "Peak"
A fun little autorunner with Shiba Inu and Japanese aesthetics that's quite fun for the half hour or so it takes to get all the achievements. I like the small easter eggs and fun noises of the birds and cats when you interact with them. It's basically just a new version of the original Montaro, with some more music and a new area for your doge to explore. For the short playtime, I highly recommend getting the title on sale.
I like playing as a sheeb. Very cute. Much wow.

Montaro RE is a funny casual game not too difficult with some nice designs and a cozy ambiant. For his very low price, I recommend it!!! 🐶💗

Reminds me of SuperMario when I first played this game. Then, I got sucked into achieving all the achievements, thus the number of hours on it. It was cute and fun with great music. Stopped once I have completed all achievements. :')

Montaro RE is yet another of several hundred, if not thousands of garbage low effort endless runners plaguing Steam.
Like all endless/autorunners, you're moving and you can't stop. All you can do is avoid the obstacles coming at you in this incredibly shallow shovelware game. The only reason this went anywhere was specific design elements intended to appeal to weebs, Doge meme fans and cryptobros... and frankly when a game is designed for those (sometimes overlapping) groups, it's not going to have appeal for anyone else. All of the reviews for this game praise the meme theme (which, of course, was not the original creation of the "developer" here, they jumped onto a public domain internet meme and are trying to cash in on it with a garbage endless runner).
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.
There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The game never really caught on with the millions of gamers on Steam, with a very low peak player count close to launch, and then just a handful of players launching this game every couple of days. This is undoubtedly caused by factors such as those raised in this review. It's always helpful with buying decisions to consider how popular and successful the product is, and unfortunately while this did accumulate a few participation trophy reviews, overall, people just aren't using it.
So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam?
Montaro RE is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 11,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
Being Doge was surprisingly fun - devious upskirt doggo hop along that got me grinning.
Short lived, can definitely do with some new locations to keep it engaging.
