I don't think i've ever played a better action strategy game.
OSFE provides the slow methodical thinking of a strategy game, alongside the quick reflexes of an action game.
good game, but its difficult. VERY difficult. if you like hard games here you go
MMBN if it was all gas no brakes
truly hate this game, but i love it
Not for me. In my opinion, it would have been far better as turn based. The game throws you right in with little explanation for any of the statuses etc. of the cards and it's pretty off-putting having to rely on muscle-memory when choosing a spell during combat, considering it switches your spell placement after each use. I'm sure it's fun if you enjoy fast-paced gameplay, but for me, personally, I didn't enjoy it.
Fun game.
If you loved Mega Man Battle Network and rogue-like deck building games, then you've got a match.
Get this game. It's worth every penny I spent on it.
Really good game
One of the most fun roguelikes I've ever played, every character feels insanely unique and every run brings you a new opportunity to discover how best to play the way that suits your playstyle, the game can be brutal going for the true ending but especially with the help of mods and custom abilities, the game has an endless amount of replayability
too hard to play as real time game, would be better if it's turn based
Extremely fun. More of a modern and extreme version of Megaman BattleNetwork. Extremely hard at times and I have yet to beat the game but every minute is worth it.
nice and hard gameplay, arts is so good.
i have skill issues
Criminally underrated. A fast pace card building game that has very satisfying and rewarding combat. There is a great variety of cards, which enables different set of playstyles. some cards also have very neat references to other games or media, which is always fun to read.
My only critique is that the enemy variety is a bit limited, and some bosses have "peculiar" dodging patterns that might seem undodgeable.
Also, to provide some further context, the game lacks any form of permanent upgrades (except for unlocks of new cards / characters), thus the only way to progress further is to git gud.
Overall, this, to me, is a very solid game. Do not let the hard early game discourage you. Give it a couple of hours, get familiar with the mechanics, in order for this game to trully shine. 9/10 highly recommanded.
Great game, super interesting gameplay and very hard bosses, the synergies are also very cool!
peak
There was in fact, more than one step required to get to Eden. 8/10.
THIS!
Fast, entertaining, creative, innovative and most certainly HARD. The number of builds and creativity you can have with each character is absurd. It pumps my senses so hard it ends up being a big all-englobing catharsis.
You think you can run a marathon, and you will eventually, but no matter how long can you go you'll always end up one step from Eden.
Solid game. Wish they had re-rolls on rewards but otherwise good. Some difficulty to it but it seems a matter of identifying the good vs the bad cards you pick up. Like most Rogue-likes.
I'm Sean Prime and I approve of this game!
Too fast paced, too far away from the MMBN formula for me.
good game
One of my all-time favorites, let alone one of my favorite roguelikes. I could write multiple paragraphs about this game, and still not do it justice. If you look at the screenshots/videos, and it looks like something you would like, jump in. You'll love it, and you'll never forget it. I still come back to this one year after year, and always have a blast.
Rogue-like deckbuilder with grid-based real-time combat. If you've played the old Megaman Battle Network games, this'll be familiar.
One Step from Eden is a fun game where you play as a character in a world that's been through a big war. Your goal is to reach a place called Eden, which is the last hope for people. You get to use different spells and items to fight enemies and make your way through the game. It's like a mix of a card game and a fast-paced action game where you have to think quickly and make smart choices to win.
Battle Network if it was good. Fast and intense with a great OST with sweet tracks like The Forest, Hot Blooded and Battle of Ice II. Tight controls and a nice detailed pixel art style wrap it up.
very cool megaman battlenetwork fans would love
Nice, my boomer brain can't hold up to that speed
It's as good as I remember battle network being, but without the initial drag of playing a decade old RPG intro
My favourite combat system ever, they should make a fighting game out of this
This game is really cool and really pretty. My only issue is that my hands hurt but that is a problem with the flesh not the game
one of the hardest but best indie games i've ever played. If you liked Mega Man Battle Network/Star Force but wanted more difficulty and deck building options then this is for you. It has a steep but rewarding learning curve.
Quite a challenging game.
great game
Very challenging but an insane spell and item pool keeps every death fresh and fun
So much nostalgia for Mega Man Battle Network.
very fast-paced
Very fun, well designed roguelike for people who like battle network or just very chaotic action/card games. 40 hours in and still not bored or frustrated with the game. Main nitpicks are that there is hardly any variety in the map events and the luck system is kind of backwards.
hard but very good
Too fast paced for me.
Boss enemy attack is sometimes confusing, need a lot of time to learn the pattern.
A game that inherits the legacy of the rts-grid battle system of Megaman Battle Network.
free cool
fun, interesting, well done, difficult
I love every pixel in this game.
One Step From Eden is my favourite roguelike and also the most unique take on the genre I've seen. Go play it, listen to its ost , play it few more times and then gush about it online just like I am.
So very fun, such awesome character design, but it's SO HARD!! Maybe it's a skill issue on my part, but in order to succeed consistently you need to be able to look at three different parts of the screen at once.
I'm super bad at this game, but One Step From Eden is a love letter to the Megaman Battle Network series, which I loved as a kid. I'm super glad to see indie titles propose their own twist on this formula.
i like how this game absolutely trashes you from the start
needs more fanart
so good
