This game is kind of (which means 'not really but eh') like a top-down Superhot that focuses on speedrunning. Small levels, customisable loadouts, murder mayhem. Loads of fun in single player, and I look forward to wobbly wonky multiplayer shooting and missing action with friends in local multi player.

Simple, Straightforward quality, No Known backhanded greedy dev tricks.
Play and murder stuff for a fair price, Built in level editor and co-op, No need to buy 2 copies just to play with someone else as it should be.

It's fun. However, a few levels in they add a mechanic where an immortal guy runs after you and murders you at the start of every round so you have to play at breakneck speeds. And that mechanic never goes away, sucking all the fun out of the experience. Hard to be sneaky when you're forced to sprint through every encounter or die in one hit from the immortal guy behind you. With two players, sometimes one can get him circling around the table so the other player can actually have fun, but that's quite burdensom and not all encounters are set up in a way that this is possible. I prefer games where I'm allowed to be careful and thoughtful, like this game's earliest levels.

Absolutely gobsmacked by how unknown this is considering the cheap pricetag. One of my favorite games I played last year in a year filled with bangers.

this game is silly, perfect game progression with lots of replay-ability and coop fun. Runs great on the steam deck, but I could not find a way to turn off the built in controller as an character.

I've picked this game up various months ago during a sale, and I really enjoyed it!

Even at full price, it's a steal, I think it's fully deserving of the original 5$ pricetag. If you liked Hotline Miami (or "12 is better than 6") and you wished it had a child with SUPERHOT, this is the game for you. Funky soundtrack, as well!

Tons of combinations of weapons and modifiers to try, I really had a blast playing it, even in the hard ("sneakier", if I remember correctly?) mode, which adds a challenge factor I won't spoil here.

Bought this game on sale a while back and can highly recommend it. I don't usually play games like this but I had an absolute blast! The loadout customization is very fun to experiment with and switching it up from level to level is satisfying. I finished the main game and moved on to the harder difficulty. I didn't get all of the way through that when I first played but it was definitely a good challenge. Again, can't recommend it enough. Even if this was full price I would recommend it very highly. A truly great game.

this small game is good. the options and combinations you can create makes the game have different playstyles and replay value.

I've just gotten through the normal difficulty, which was fairly easy. Now that I'm on the hard difficulty it's really ramping up! There are a ton of things to unlock and different loadouts to try. It's definitely worth the money.

Also, when I first got it there was an issue with it displaying on my ultrawide monitor. I reached out to the dev and he responded right away and pushed a patch that fixed it. A+ dev as well as a great game!

Definitely Sneaky But Not Sneaky offers a relaxing, casual gameplay. Its premise is simple: collect the cube, kill all enemies and escape. It definitely takes inspiration from Hotline Miami in terms of gameplay, effectively simple graphics, and plenty of blood, The levels take seconds to get through while progressing unlocks more tools and weapons to use in your loadout.
However, I did have some gripes.

Despite the game's name, you'll be playing tactically with not much of an option to go in guns blazing until you unlock certain weapons and perks in new game+. That is due to the low ammo count for many of the guns which isn't enough for some levels unless you have perfect accuracy and can line up shots to go through multiple enemies. Although, it makes sense or else the game would become extremely trivial. Levels do get repetitive fast and the scenery doesn't change much.
The lighting effects are pretty to look at though. The levels do feel all the same except for a few that break the mold.
The AI isn't great. They act as if they have extreme ADHD where they get distracted by anything. I've had instances where
they are trying to attack me and a shuriken distracts all of them causing them to forget about me. Also, don't expect in-depth stealth as in the enemies reacting to more than just sight or a weapon's sound.

Nonetheless, the game is fun and a perfect one to play after a tiring day at work or school. The smooth jazz reinforces that but you can always turn that off if it's not your type. There's also a survival mode akin to Call of Duty's Nazi Zombies but like the earlier ones like World At War. My gripes are more nitpicking than anything because what the game accomplishes what it aims to be. If it looks interesting at all and if you enjoy games like Hotline Miami, I recommend purchasing it. It's great for speed running too.

great game. totally worth the price. weapons feel good, tons of levels and a hoard mode, and it gets 100x better with friends. my only complaints are the lack of vsync (on linux at least, idk if the windows version has it) and I feel like the weapons system could have been pushed a bit further. I would like to see some more utilities like temporary invisibility or a dash/speed boost. A chainsaw would be cool too. I give a 9/10 considering the price.

Very fun game once you get into the flow of it. Plenty of variety of weapons and equipment to favor different play styles. Playing with friends is equally PvP and PvE as friendly fire is on, but this made the game that much more fun. Overall I can't speak highly enough of this game. I'm excited to see what levels the community comes up with once the level editor is out of beta.

It plays simple and flexible, it is just fun to replay and even edit.
The options are well implemented for such a simple and rare gem.

Hotline Miami kind of scene, but you pick your weapon load out before entering the levels. Over time being able to purchase better weapons etc. Although I found once I had my preferred load out there is no real reason to change it. Plenty of levels, although if you do them all in one session it feels all quite similar. Once you're on the harder setting it becomes a better challenge as speed is also a priority to pass levels. On sale it's easily worth a couple of bucks and worth a buy.

Definitely Great But Not Great

I'm a sucker for levels that can be burned through quickly. In DSBNS, You can expect to complete the first 20 or so levels in about 10 minutes depending on whether you get hung up on any of them. It's basically Hotline Miami except everyone is polygonal figures.

Well, not exactly. In Hotline Miami you pick up weapons on the fly, whereas in DSNBS you pick your loadout at the starting box and it's locked in outside of that box. The problem is that trying to vary your loadout is rarely rewarding. Most of the weapons you can buy in the shop have such glaring downsides that you feel better off sticking to what you already have, at least in Single-Player, and this only gets worse in hard mode.

"Sneakier" difficulty introduces the Bulletproof Baseball Bat Bastard (tm). He chases you through each level and will quickly kill you if you aren't moving fast enough, meaning that the katana (sword) is practically the only viable weapon for most of those levels - any others just won't carve through the enemies fast enough. One level locked B4 in a bookcase, and it was brilliant - I dual-wielded AK47s and it was the freshest the gameplay had felt all campaign. Alas, it was back to the status quo next level.

For all of the effort that went into hand-designing these levels, most of them feel incredibly samey - the aforementioned bookcase level feels like the exception that proves the rule. If particular sets levels had locked you in to a particular weapon loadout - even if it were just the default loadout that could be changed - and you played through ten or so levels that were designed around that weapon, it would go a long way toward mixing up the gameplay. Instead, every time I died in the sneakier campaign, it just felt like I needed to katana harder.

That said, do I still recommend this game? I mean, for it's current sale price of $0.99, sure. I hope to try the co-op gameplay with my friends soon; maybe that will introduce more novelty and flexibility to the gameplay.

Recommended for top-down shooter fans who won't mind a katana-based hard campaign.

This game combines great physics and level creations with a cool variety of weapons/loadouts. Lots of fun with friends, but definitely still a good time in single-player. Well worth the money.

Fun and addictive action/puzzle game. I had many instances where I told myself I would play just one more level, and I ended up playing 5+ instead. There are over 140 different levels that have all been hand crafted (not lazy random procedural generation like most games these days). There are a number of different weapons and utilities for you to pick from, and you can set up different weapon "layouts" which you can cycle through at the start of each level.

I found this game via r/gamedeals on reddit, and the developer was very friendly. I mentioned a couple quirks about playing with mouse and keyboard (things not being clearly explained unless you look at the control settings), and he clarified that the game was really designed with controller in mind. That being said, I played through the entire campaign using mouse and keyboard, and I didn't encounter any major issues with it.

One fun thing is that you unlock an extra difficulty mode after unlocking the game. And it's a LOT harder with a unique twist to it (I won't reveal any more as it's kind of fun to discover). I've got over 3 hours into this game on just my first run through of the campaign, and I can tell it's going to take quite a bit of effort to figure out the proper item layouts and strategies to the more-difficult campaign.

There's also a survival mode, but it really wasn't my cup of tea. I'm sure others will enjoy it, but I much prefer the main campaign.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend Definitely Sneaky But Not Sneaky. I picked it up for $2.49, but it's worth the asking price of $4.99 IMO even not on sale.

Awesome gem of a game. Getting to the sneakier difficulty and playing with a partner is a pile of fun. My partner and I were yelling and absolutely enjoying ourselves while we played. There are a few control issues with aiming but nothing that you can't work around. Money well spent. This game deserves more publicity.

This game is a lot of fun!

Fast paced levels with instant reset. There are a lot of ways to try to make it through the levels. Find your favorite weapon and get to work taking out all of the flourescent people.

I tried to beat all of the levels with only the bat, and I had a blast!

There are a ton of levels. It starts out a bit slow, but once you get into it, a ton of the levels are pretty satisfying to beat. Some of them are actually pretty difficult and take a lot of resets to complete. Good luck!

This game is insanely addicting; once you get started, it's hard to stop! You can speed through the levels or take your time and use different tactics of getting through the level. I appreciate the addition of two different weapons, as it makes for a fun decision when slaying your enemies. The controls take some getting used to at first (from what I've tried on a keyboard/mouse), but you can pick up the skill real quick. The music is also really nice and differentiate on certain levels, which I find to be a cool touch to the aesthetic. Over all, I definitely recommend it!
