5 Star Miami Resort

the game was meh and I had the incentive to finish the entire thing but when I reached the last level it just ends abruptly. there is no music in the game and I don't think your dialogue choices matter.

Miami resort is follow up of Hawaii Resort. Which is a match 3 game (align 3+ tiles to make matches). It is quite light too (<200Mb) and thus takes no time to download and launch.

The background story didn't strike me, so ... not much to say.

This game contains the expected bonuses when matching more than 3 tiles (bomb, lightning, etc.). etc.
More of the same as in previous episode.
Main differences:
- weapons added (filling up when matching a specific kind of tile)
- cascading matches don't create bonuses

There are 96 levels. Levels that are only match 3.

I just bought this game and wanted to try it out - and ended up finishing it (about 6h in normal mode).

Once again, some (very few) levels are badly balanced with definitely too few moves allowed. To get 3 stars at every level, expect some replaying.

I've played this on Win7 without any issue.

I'm a pretty simple person; there are times when I just want a pretty match-3 game and I don't need much story.

I usually like this developer's games, but this one didn't click with me, mostly because of the interface. The pieces don't move right; they're slow and they drag like the game is lagging, which it obviously doesn't have the hardware requirements to do. For a mindless diversion, it's got to have that feel, you know?

I'm playing Last Resort now, which is from the same developer and basically the same game except zombies, and it's fine.

This game is insanely addictive.

They've added new stuff to make it different from previous releases such as multiple play spaces per level.

I like having only the sound of waves crashing, the repetitive music got annoying in previous games, so this game sounds simply relaxing.

For some reason I thought Hawaii resort was more difficult. Here, I'm rarely needing to try a level again to get 3 stars. I'm a fan of difficulty, it's no fun winning every time on the first try.

The best time waster out there, money well spent. Lots of fun to be had.

If you don’t mind timing elements even in the ‘no turn limit’ mode, then this strategic turn limit, 96 levels M3 is sure to please.

Detailed

- Big boxes. Which is great not just for those with poorer eyesight but much easier to see to plan your moves. This doesn’t mean that the level is easier due to a multi-screen approach. There are ‘islands’ which you unlock by either clearing your present board or clearing a certain box, then you can go between all of them to accomplish your level objectives.

- Islands. There can be different goals in each island, one may have blocks or obstacles, and another has people. This is good, as different objectives in each part makes a level more complex and interesting.

- Objectives. Much clearer, as in your info box on left hand of screen it tells you how many people and tiles you have to clear before you can finish a level. It also says how many moves there are left.

- Turns. You can actually gain moves as when you ‘finish’ your people goal they actually give you more moves. Also, through the building of the resort you can gain a move per level.

- Resort. Build your resort through the money that you get from finishing levels. Here the buildings actually do something useful, from extra turns, to quicker power-ups. The resort is finished about ¾ through the game and then there is no more story.

- Hardness. You can get all achievements even on relaxed mode which is the ‘no turn limit’ mode. Casual and Normal are turn-based modes. You can switch hardness within a level.

- Game mechanics. New torch mode. Make a path between torches, then tiles turn dead and you have to get rid of them.

- Timing. There are two different kinds of timing tiles in some levels. If you don’t match them, they keep growing to cover other tiles. These are time based, not turn based, and you do have to move quite quickly to get rid of them.

- Powerups. There are two different main kinds. One where you can make different types of powerups on the board. Another which has 3 boxes on the side of the board. If you match the tile appearing on its box, you can charge and use them.

- People. Powerups will fizzle until you get rid of people with “U” above them first.

Personal view.
I never had to grind any levels as any level I had to do more than twice had the timing tiles in it. Later in the game I ended up just changing modes for that level if I saw the timing tiles as I didn’t like them. That way, I never had to redo a level. Casual mode seemed quite easy, easier than Last Resort Island on the non-timing, strategic levels. But I found the levels with timing tiles harder than Last Resort Island.

I really missed the extra different type of puzzles that Last Resort Island had. As those were over and above the M3 levels I felt something was taken away here. Overall, I had fun, apart from the timing tiles. I appreciated the different strategies I had to take, and the new torch mechanics kept it fresh.
