I really like this game. I love whimsical art styles, as well as mystery novels, so this game is just delightful. Playing this game on a rainy day while sipping coffee was the ultimate comfy go-to. This is a very excellent cozy game with soft mystery. Definitely a “girls girl” game.
genuinely one of the greatest short ish story games i have ever played. the puzzle aspect is so great and dont even get me started on the different story lines. paige and finley are my favorite <3. inclusive game and i was kept interested the whole time! beautiful game, beautiful art design, beautiful characters, and absolutely BEAUTIFUL story. took me about 2 hours to finish completely, so not super short but not too long. theres also a brown lesbian couple for all of you out there!!
The game trapped me in the scene selector when i clicked on a little drawer stand in the bottom right corner and wouldn't let me out without clicking on a scene, forcing me to reset the scene or go forward in the game.
Nice game. Good story, hard topics, good points of view and pretty enjoyable. I wish it was longer, but it's fine. I really like the aesthetic too.

I haven't read a VN quite like this one. It reminded me of The Yellow Wallpaper and The Stepford Wives in places.
The art and music worked well with the whimsical tone, and the structure reminded me of a play.

This is a nice point and click, linear VN that appears to be about a group of friends who all meet up to catch up but have their plans go awry thanks to a thunderstorm.
What you get is a snippet of their lives as they navigate through a crossroad or an issue that they are dealing with. This game also handles heavy themes such as emotional abuse and how it heavily affected our dear MC.
Granted it took a bit to have me hooked but I definitely enjoyed it. I will say, I wished we had a proper save option and I didn't like how I almost could miss a section if I did not semi spoiled myself with the walk through. Luckily it has a screen select so that works.
Overall I enjoyed this VN, it was interesting and I liked the overall story.
The art style of this visual novel is beautiful with striking colors. The story dives into issues each woman is facing - work stress, emotional abuse, poor communication in a relationship, to name a few. I like that these are real topics that people deal with and the story touches on it in a unique way that is deep, but still relaxing. There are puzzles in the game, but it is not the focal point. Some puzzles follow the storyline and others are distracting from it.
Let's start this review with a conclusion: The Window Box is a fantastic story, and well worth the price of admission. Buy it and play it.
Now, why is it so great? Well, the strongest point of any visual novel like this should of course be the story, and the writing in The Window Box is truly excellent. If I had to choose a weak spot, I would say that the first 5 minutes or so didn't grab me as quickly as it could have, but once I was engrossed in the plot I really cared about the characters and where their storylines would go, especially Elsa.
As the "About" section clearly states, this story does deal with an abusive relationship, but that's not all that's here, the other characters are compelling as well and have their own things going on. It's not exactly a happy game, but it has its uplifting moments for sure.
Also, the art! Christina Ellis's art really pulls the whole game together, it wouldn't be the same without the visual style which is presented so strongly here. The appearance of fashion illustration fits perfectly with the dollhouse presentation of the transitions between different locations. The emotions of each character are portrayed so clearly and effectively as well, it's all just so well done.
The music is great too, subtle but effective, more present when it needs to be. The audio design in general is better than most games, there are segments where the story is told completely by sound rather than through text.
So, if any of this sounds appealing to you, go ahead and check it out! Also, it runs perfectly on the Steam Deck, if you care about that.
This Novel is great, it feels empowering and I recommend to read it.
But I have to warn about heavy subjects, there is no shame in quitting, actually if you feel it getting to heavy, please quit.
Read it when you are in a place you can handle it.
The Window Box is a slightly overpriced, very short, very good visual novel. It's characters are charming, the art gorgeous, and the story interesting. The puzzles are mediocre, and not very fun. The story itself, without spoiling much, is of 5 friends reunited in Elsa's house, when their lives are at a crossroads. Their stories intertwine into your experience.
It's good. If you relate to their issues, it'll probably be better than if you don't. Worth it on sale.
The backgrounds and sprites are beautiful, and the humor kept things from ever getting grim, even though it was about characters dealing with serious problems.

I really enjoyed this game and i hightly recomend it. The story is just awesome, the characters are pretty relatable, specially if you are a woman, but i think men can enjoy it too.

I am so impressed by this game that I needed time to think on how to give a proper review for it.
This is by far one of the deepest stories I have read and at this point I can only wish it was longer.
We have five characters who are wonderfully unique and each have their own story and issues to overcome.
The way this story is presented is absolutely fantastic and is wonderfully artistic throughout the entire read.
I did feel a little iffy about this game in the beginning - but a while after the first puzzle was completed, I begun to realise what a masterpiece this game really was.
The art is very beautiful and unique and the music is beautiful, too. I would be lying if I said I didn't hop onto YouTube straight after playing this game to find the OST collection!
This game definitely deserves WAY more attention, especially from visual novel fans.
It has many choices, interesting puzzles and overall a fantastic story.
Please keep in mind that this VN does deal with sensitive topics.

A lovely visual novel with some good music, adorable art, and some deep topics that'll keep ya thinking for awhile.
The Window Box is a wonderful dark comedy visual novel and I enjoyed every minute of it. The characters all complement each other nicely, which made them working out their problems rewarding. The art style is so unique and matches the overall tone of the VN. I don't think i have one bad thing to say about The Window Box. Fully recommend!
What a unique game. Perfect for a short, single session play through, which I think is how this story is best enjoyed. That way you are immersed in the stories and relationships of these women. I enjoyed the combination of very real problems, dealt with in surreal ways. Looking forward to more from this studio.
Rattled through this in one sitting. Loved the art style, the characters are great, the plot is fun and also not fun (but in a good way). Has a few puzzles, nothing too strenuous.
This game is an absolute masterpiece! The art and the storylines are captivating, definitely a game I will be replaying again and again!
Its very unlike other games out there, which is a breath of fresh air. I was a bit worried it would be another odd anime styled game, but it isn't! Really happy I decided to play this, and I suggest everybody does. Has a bit to offer everybody, it's focused on issues women deal with but I don't think that makes it solely for women.
Definitely one of the most intriguing games I've played in a long time.
Interesting story, great soundtrack, tricky puzzles, pretty fun. Only downfall is my game glitched on the part where you tidy up the mess made in the office. Last thing I can do is respond "i listened/i thought" and then I'm stuck. OTL
If you like visual novels, and can appreciate some solid advice, give this game a go! Its got good art, good music, good sound effects, good writing, and good messages. Check it out!
Went into this visual novel not knowing much about it, and came out of it with an enjoyable experience! I really enjoyed the delicate soundtrack and relationship themes explored in the writing. The subjects tackled were presented in a way that I felt was very thoughtful, respectful and relatable. Thank you. This was totally up my alley and I'd love to see more like it from the studio!

Visually alone, this game is incredibly stunning and unique. For me personally I find most visual novels fall flat in this category so it's refreshing to see a new take on it.
Storywise, I was never bored or felt like "yeah okay whatever" so I feel like I got my moneys worth alone for this.
It's definitely much different than any other visual novel I've played, various themes and concepts are discussed in an interesting way. Some things I felt personally connected to and that's not something I've experienced much in a video game at all, let alone a visual novel.
Thoroughly enjoyed it, and can't wait to see what comes in the future
