Game validated by the Holy Ordos, free from the stain of heresy.
Feels good to nuke people
conquerors 2 fan, I be
revived my childood, this game
I have enjoyed this game since high school and even after not playing it for years this is my first time playing forged alliance and all I can say is thank god the campaign doesn't lock tech tiers on you until certain missions
still one of best rts around but has hard time running in higher resolution. have to up it one at a time
Cannot recommend because unit control and pathing is very broken. Click to move a group, half of them dance around in place while the other half is half moving, half waiting for the rear to catch up. not even single moving the stuck units work all the time. I find this strange though, as i played the game years ago and it was working fine then. maybe a different version or patch.
great game. little tricky getting to the multiplayer part since its takes some knowledge of navigating files
The FAF community is great. Glad they are keeping this old game alive
"this game is like, WAY better than starcraft. No micromanaging, no air spam, no annoying playerbase. And FAF client has a super cool community, they're super accepting of new players!"
>take 10 minutes to find a match
>game grinds to a halt for several minutes at a time because one player has european internet and refuses to leave
>game starts again, my teammates are all doing eco and refusing to make units
>i focus on defense, literally keep my nearby teammates alive for most of the game
>my economy drags behind because i have to hold the front line with my command unit
>enemy inevitably breaks through my front line because they outnumber me
>teammates get fucked because we're 20 minutes in and they made no defenses
>"PIZDETS BRO NOOB BLYAT BLYAT NOOB BLYAT BLYAT CYKA NOOB CYKA CYKA NOOB"
>"errmmmm bro literally did nothing???? why didnt you make 3 game-enders and a nuke and a t3 artillery and air units and"
>this happens almost every single game
i hate RTS players. . . I HATE THEM SO MUCH
Other than that, it's a pretty good game.
(DISCLAIMER: This is about the FAF client and PVP, not the base game)
Theres a tighter focus on economy and macromanagement, meaning you can actually focus on your structures and send units out at the same time without needing a triple digit APM.
The unit pathfinding is horrible. I'll often order an engineer to make a building and then have to watch them scoot back and forth for 10 seconds, making tiny adjustments to place themselves perfectly despite being able to construct buildings from ANY ANGLE BECAUSE THEY USE TANK CONTROLS. If you try to build where a unit is standing theyll sometimes kindly move out of the way, but most often i end up having to move them myself. This often results in me ordering multiple very important buildings, tabbing over to the front line, and then tabbing back to notice a passive aggressive tank has been blocking my construction for the past five minutes.
Even when sending units to move in formation one of them will often get stuck on a loose polygon and leave your entire army standing perfectly still while under tactical missilie fire. Boats in particular are absolutely horrible to control. They look like they work with tank controls, being able to turn on the spot and move backwards, but they only do that when you DONT need them to. When you DO need them to move back a few feet because theyre under fire, they usually decide they have to shoot straight forward and then turn around.
The game-ending structures are a little fickle too. The t4 robots are great and each have their own gimmick. The t4 structures, however, are super fucking boring.
There are basically two ways a game ender can game-end.
Robot: Send a gigantic robot to destroy your enemy's defenses. You can either have it lead your army, punching a hole in the front line for your weak units to slip through. Or you can have it support your army, staying in the back to survive longer.
Artillery/Defense satelite: Wait 40 minutes (less if you devote your entire economy to it), select it, click on the enemy, first shot his shields are down, second shot his economy is destroyed, third shot he's probably dead.
The game becomes nightmarishly boring the instant anyone completes t3 or t4 artillery, even if theyre on your team. It's a horrible, horrible feature that degrades the game.
The game does run really nicely though. Even when theres hundreds of units per team i barely lag, which is great for a game that allows you to build massive amounts of weak units (the only fun thing to do in strategy games).
I'd rate it higher, but the turtling is so boring that it's 2/5
Absolutely GOD tier RTS game. Possibly the greatest ever made. Come play on Forged Alliance Forever (google it) where the game is still supported and updated regularly.
man Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance Best RTS year sad abandoned less Mods alive still working
Strongly recommended DLC add on.
It flushes out the base game so much
fun, re-playable, low system requirements
One of the best rts i suck at
Best RTS game
yes
This game is one of the best "underrated" strategy game. Those who love strategy games can buy it without hesitation.
fun for all great game even now
Good game.
This game is very thrilling and absolutely worth the price! I find out new things every time I play. I mainly play local multiplayer. Even at full price, this game is absolutely worth it. There's many different ways to play and strategies you can use. Definitely a top tier RTS!

We play this game through the FAForever lobby, it's still maintained and we haven't found a better RTS yet. It's well balanced and has a huge number of possible strategies you can take.
thats the real strategy, war and sarcraft s&^ks!
One of the GOATs of RTS
Good RTS.
Crashes my comp when i put it to 75 frames per second
STRATEGIC LAUNCH DETECTED
good
both this and the first game need a real remaster as both are awesome to play
Best RTS, has AOM titans as experimentals, nukes, 4 incredible factions and is overall incredibly fun
So good noone has made anything better for 20 odd years.
I didn't like this game at first, I will admit. However, I gave it another chance and my Lord did I end up loving it. I'd rate it up there on one of the best RTS games I've played. I just wish the campaign was a little bit longer but It's got plenty of maps to play on for Skirmish and MP.
If you wish to play with friends via the matchmaking, be aware it doesn't work most of the time
Great game for tactical battles and playing in solo skirmish
This game tickles my special needs
Best strategy game ever created
best RTS ever still today
If you're wondering at the the positive reviews combined with low playtime hours, it's because the majority of players are hanging out on the Forged Alliance Forever Forever (FAF) modded community servers, which have continued to keep the performance and gameplay relevant decades later.
The base game is decent, a campaign probably worth doing once, and has some innovative ideas... but you can do all that and more on FAF, with modern improvements, and optional coop. A mod that's not only better but has a greater playerbase than the base game, AND active development, AND isn't fractured into a dozen splinter projects... is highly unusual, to say the least.
As far as competiveness goes, it's one of the few games that I enjoy more often than not even when losing. There are a variety of hail mary tactics that let you bow out of a match early while (probably) helping the team, and people frequently spectate after dying to enjoy the show or even help out by analyzing the ongoing battle.
There's a reason there are multiple youtube channels, to this day, that feature weekly if not daily casts of FAF games. If you watch any of those videos, some of the things that make FAF special will become obvious very quickly. I've also enjoyed Starcraft II casts, but despite the impressive (and flashy) micro skills shown, it doesn't compare to the tactical variety or strategic depth of FAF.
I'd like to go on, but I won't bore you with walls of text. If you are still on the fence, watch a replay. Just bear in mind that most people aren't pros - the player base is large enough to accommodate regular joes and noobs, especially on weekends.
Mods make it even better :)
still the greatest
good, there is multiplayer thanks to FAF (Forged Alliance Forever) pretty much the only reason to get this game, there are mods and maps and an actual community.
Honestly one of the best RTS' ever made, only held back by engine limitations. A shame the franchise isn't really around anymore
An oldie but a goodie. Gota luv those Fatboys
very great and fun game, even more fun if u download forged allience forever and add mods
11/10

Forged Alliance: Supreme Commander is a real-time strategy (RTS) game that, despite being released years ago, continues to stand out as one of the finest examples of large-scale strategy and tactical gameplay. Its enduring appeal is a testament to the solid foundation it was built on, and even today, it remains a favorite for strategy enthusiasts.
Epic Scale and Depth
What sets Forged Alliance apart is its massive scale. The game allows players to command hundreds of units simultaneously, leading to battles that are not just skirmishes but full-scale wars. The strategic depth is unparalleled, with players needing to manage resources, technology upgrades, and unit production while constantly adapting to the changing dynamics of the battlefield.
Still Cutting-Edge
Even though it's an older game, the strategic and tactical elements of Forged Alliance are still cutting-edge. The ability to zoom out to a strategic view and then dive back into the battlefield offers a unique experience that few modern RTS games can replicate. The complexity of managing land, sea, and air units simultaneously adds layers of strategy that keep the game challenging and engaging.
Smooth Performance with Modern Tech
Thanks to advancements in modern gaming technology, Forged Alliance runs smoothly on today's hardware. This means players can enjoy the full scale of its massive battles without worrying about performance issues that might have plagued older systems.
Essential MOD: FAF (Forged Alliance Forever)
To truly experience the game at its best, the FAF (Forged Alliance Forever) MOD is a must. FAF is more than just a patch—it's a complete overhaul that fixes many of the original game's connectivity issues and introduces numerous quality-of-life improvements. The MOD also connects players to a vibrant and active community, where they can find matches, participate in tournaments, and share strategies.
FAF doesn’t just fix bugs; it enhances the entire game experience. The community-driven updates keep the game fresh, and the MOD’s features, such as improved matchmaking and mod support, make it easier than ever to jump into epic battles. The community is one of the game’s greatest strengths, offering a wealth of resources and an active player base that keeps the game alive and thriving.
Final Thoughts
Forged Alliance: Supreme Commander is a timeless classic that continues to offer one of the best RTS experiences available. Its combination of massive battles, deep strategy, and tactical gameplay keeps it relevant even today. With the FAF MOD, the game is better than ever, providing a smooth and refined experience with a supportive community. Whether you're a seasoned RTS veteran or new to the genre, Forged Alliance is a game that deserves a place in your collection.
