This game is fascinating as a concept.
Don't get me wrong, it could use some more polish, some more optimization, and some more content (a rural and urban map would be interesting), as well as maybe an update making the traversal of the hot map a bit easier, but Morphe nails the atmosphere and mood, and, as mentioned before, its concept is fascinating.
If you are looking for a relaxing experience, this game is worth your time. It's short (as seen by my playtime), it's sweet, and I can imagine playing this game off and on again for months. However, since it's an interactive experience more than it is a full blown game in the traditional sense, it's also an acquired taste, so if you get bored by games with simple mechanics and little structure, this game won't be for you.
Honestly I’d recommend watching a letsplay or finding a demo before you decide to purchase. I’d give this a 6/10 and a “that was cool”, and will probably return to the game in future and show it off to friends.
Super chill. I have enjoyed taking the ambience in one bite at a time, leaving new things to explore and surprise me.
Nice relaxing game. Chill music and nice visuals
It's 3 neat vignettes with cool audioscapes you can play around with. Nothing hugely interactive, just, nice places to be. You'll have seen most everything in 15 minutes, which is about how long a cup of coffee lasts, which is about what this costs. So there ya go!
It's nice.
edit: this game still rules if you need to chill and are also not a big baby
this is really something. i feel like this is more like i wanted out of Proteus but never got - still tons of music, but lots of little interactables everywhere with which to fiddle until you get the environment Perfect. you will probably accidentally click through a sound you thought was great and can't find it again, but it's okay, there's always more.
a fun thing: try to retrace your steps. You can click the sun to stop all the music (the sun gets lower in the sky for each pedestal you activate making it easier to find), but when it's time to move on, try figuring out the order you turned the pedestals on, deconstructing the tune until you're back to the first sound you chose.

I enjoy just activating sound pedestals then switching between found cassette tapes while spacing out and watching the screen saver activate. That's it, that's the game, and it's really very pleasant. It's nice to start it up then putter about with other chores once the music gets going.
Bounced really hard off this. Was hoping it would be something like Proteus, but this totally failed to engage me.
Lovely ambient sound toy, you'll get more than your money's worth.
Relaxing. Epic.
I liked the idea of the game -- wander a beautiful landscape, creating ambient sounds/music -- but this is pretty disappointing. It's OK that there doesn't seem to be a story, but the sounds or environment would need to be more inviting or intriguing to make me want to spend more time there. Nothing about the sounds or landscape is particularly beautiful, so I'm not inclined to explore.
Morphe is yet another game that tries to convert the process of making music into a video game. It's a great idea, but I have never seen a successful implementation of it, aside from games that actually come with digital instruments. Morphe allows you to record the sound in the environment and then the song is automatically exported into the game folder, so I guess you could classify Morphe as a very primitive music software. Unfortunately, the game lacks any kind of step sequencer which severely limits what you can do. That being said, I would like to see a sound bank that will keep all of the found samples, that way you won't have to be next to an object to trigger the sound (hence more control).
I wonder what kind of licensing the music in this game has. Like, can you use the music that you make for your own projects or games? I mean if you needed an ambient soundtrack for your small project, maybe this would be a nice utility for people that lack the access to professional software? But then again, the sound quality is not exactly great. Even though I love ambient music, this game has a very distorted sound library, making it hard to hear what is being combined. Relaxing - is not exactly how I would describe it, all of those white noises can be a bit annoying. The game has 3 small levels, few hidden sounds and relatively limited exploration.
Pros:
+ nice atmosphere
+ 3 different levels
+ exports your music into the game folder
Con:
- pretty low sample quality in my opinion (too distorted, even for ambient music)
- could use sample bank and step sequencer, once you find the sound
Overall Thoughts: 5/10
As someone that can appreciate ambient soundtrack, walking simulators and composing music, I still don't like this game. It really needs that sample library so I can activate the sounds from anywhere (once I find them). I want a little bit more control over what I am doing, otherwise it is too limited. In terms of aesthetic, it is not that impressive either.
If the game shows some improvements, I will consider removing this review. Please contact me if you have updated your game and want a revision. https://store.steampowered.com/curator/31294838-Hidden-Gem-Discovery/
