This game is great. Its clearly a side project for the devs, so development is very slow. But it's addictive as hell. Its basically a real-time with pause roguelite dungeon crawler with a pirate theme. So if you like Pillars of Eternity or Baldur's Gate combat, you'll love this game.
Go out on adventures across the high seas, kill monsters, get loot! Rinse and repeat. There's a town with where you sail from and get quests. There's also a decent amount of choice and consequence in the quests with a reputation system that unlocks different options. Different classes also unlock dialog options.
The game has a number of different game modes with different victory conditions, so replay value is high.
All in all I'm very surprised that this has gone under the radar, perfect game for bite size dungeon crawling. I only found out about it through the Steam Talk Like Pirate Day Sale.
This is Good, Old-School fun!!! Sometimes, "Simple" is downright entertaining and this game fits that bill very well. I really enjoy how easy it is to pick up and play! It has an uncomplicated, fair progression system that doesn't punish you to death. The loot aspect is a lot of fun too! But I have to admit, one of the things that first attracted me to this game is the interactive town buildings (that act as a menu of sorts). That very much reminds me of an Impressions game that I played many years ago named, "High Seas Trader". And now that I own this game, I see how much potential it has & I have great hopes for it's further improvement as it continues to develop.
So, if you like simple games featuring the Age of Sail/Pirates, get this game. If you like quest/loot-based games, get this game. If you like a game that's easy to pick up and play, get this game. I think it's a hidden gem and I hope you'll enjoy as much as I do.
This game is freakin awesome.
Its a pirate-themed party-based roguelike action-rpg, and there's not anything else quite like it.
I got pretty far then half my crew got killed by robots, it was amazing.
buy it.
I think the devs have explained what the game is pretty well so I am just going to comment on the current state of the game. There is a good foundation here, and as more content and polish is added I can see this being a pretty engaging game to play. It is definitely an early access title but there are plenty of little touches to be found to show that the ideas in the game have a lot to offer.
Some key notes:
The lighting and shadows are both really nice.
The music is pretty catchy and really fits the world.
Some of the styling is thematic and impactful, though there are some assets that seem like placeholders.
Quite a few different enemies, crew member classes, ships, item types, and that sort of thing.
Edit: It looks like development has ceased. The game isn't complete and shouldn't be treated as such.
