For a "visual" novel, LVN Fake News does little to provide a visual experience...
The biggest problem this visual novel has is the writing. I can look past the asset flipping/stock images that this visual novel crutches on, but the story is virtually handed to you.
What I mean by this is that every character points out the obvious - what's currently happening in the story and what is about to happen soon, both of which the audience could've otherwise picked up on their own. The way characters speak in the story isn't natural, and it feels like I'm reading an article instead of human dialogue. Each line is very wordy, almost enough to make a paragraph.
There are ways to make these paragraphs split into smaller chunks that are visually interesting: for example, when the story opens with Nadiya talking about her dream as a video game designer, that could be replaced with flashbacks of Nadiya playing video games.
Other unnecessary pieces like when the university was built could be completely thrown away since it has no relevance to the story. It could at least be put somewhere in the background; write an establishment date somewhere around the campus like "since 1964."
I hope the creator doesn't take this review too harshly. I would love to see him improve and make better, more entertaining visual novels in the future.
Not sure where the overwhelming hate for this is coming from. I've played a lot of worse VNs than this.
Nadiya gets roped into the news club, despite being slated to go to the video game development club. Go down the rabbit hole to see what happens. The girls are cute and the BGs and music are serviceable. It may be shorter than I would've liked at 40-50 minutes, but it was still enjoyable to see what lay ahead. Also contained a few laugh out loud moments.
Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.
this novel could used a lot more work. it really doesn't have much going for it.

absolute shit. writing is terrible, characters are awful, and no real romance. its a really short and underwhelming viusal novel. also BDSM is fucking gross. thats not a good kink or desire. its shit.

Kory Toombs is a great developer. He reached out to me after posting this review, which really surprised me, because so many devs seem to just not care when an issue arises. After giving him the links to where I downloaded the patch from, he brought to my attention that I had downloaded an older version of the adult patch, which is why the achievements weren't working as they should. The current patch (as of this writing) is hosted on Steam, has 5 files in it for the new Russian translation, and all of the achievements work with it. So get it from Steam now that it's available here. That way you won't have any problems! My original unabridged review is below for those who wish to read it. I still can't recommend this game, but it's nice to know it has a great and passionate developer behind it.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
This game should be free. It's 45 minutes to an hour of content tops. It's entirely kinetic and though it has some great one liners, overall it's mediocre at best. The CG's are not even done in the same style as the rest of the assets and aren't on the same level as the rest of the art in the game. They are a huge step down, which is really jarring. To make matters worse, CG's 3 and 4 are sexy time and have been cut from the general steam release. This wouldn't be such a problem if the story wasn't about a girl discovering that she is a lesbian and those scenes are where it happens. You can add them back into the game with a patch, but if you do the achievements for those scenes don't pop, which leaves you with only half the achievements after a play through. If you don't apply the patch to restore the cut content then the achievements work correctly despite the fact that the CG's are missing. What story is present is barely there and each character is entirely 2 dimensional. There needs to be a lot more work done here to flush out every aspect of this game before it's worthy of anybodies time, or money. There are much better free VN's here on Steam, which are just as long or longer than this one and offer more such as "Drinks With Abbey," "Doki Doki Literature Club," or "The Sad Story of Emmeline Burns." Go play those instead.
I thought something like this would be a little silly and it was on sale to be even cheaper but it is still not worth it. Really boring so you want to skip everything, but it isn't like there is an art gallery or anything for special scenes, because this game doesn't have special scenes. I would have refunded this in a second if I could.
This is a joke. Visual novel -not game- is worth negative $$$. DON'T BUY.
Because I'm so certain this is one huge parody of the Yuri genre or just a troll submission, I'm reluctant to actually go in depth with constructive criticism, so I'll just list off a few points.
PROS:
- Nice background and sprite artwork
- Unique story concept with elements of live television broadcasting
- Ironically funny with some jabs at lesbians... I guess?
I smirked twice
CONS:
- This visual novel is barely an hour long; legitimately felt swindled but I guess I just have myself to blame since I'm willing to try any yuri-friendly game out there and was once again disappointed
- I said there was a unique story CONCEPT, but the story itself is nonexistant and really just a poorly written fanfiction for lesbians to lez out
- Concept was interesting but did nothing for the game; lack of proper story and basic knowledge of broadcasting made me just skip through all the segments
- Poor user interface with no controls; I was pulling my hair out with how slow the transitions were; closed the game on accident when I hit ESC
- Biased but did not find the artwork for the other scenes attractive and the styles were too jarring from the sprite artist to seem like I was reading a cohesive piece
[*] None of the characers were likable; just one-dimensioned horny lesbians hunting down the equally soul-less protag who realizes she's a lesbian after masturbating to a letter confessing that she had been lied to from the beginning and the other characters' sole reason was to bang her
Stopping here because I hope whoever is reading this has already moved on with their life in peace.
