Visitor is a full-motion video (FMV) detective suspense game. The game tells a story that on a winter night in 2017, a murder case happened in a residential building, a prostitute Shasha died in her own home. Players, playing the role of police, should make a painstaking investigation among a great number of testimonies and evidences, to restore each detail of the whole murder case step by step, so as to find the real murderer.Game characteristic
Visitor is a FMV detective suspense game, and nearly all of its subjects are demonstrated in the form of video or real image, including testimony of witness, progress of case, exhibit, report, ending, etc. This game creates a brand now game+film playing method, in which players no long choose the branches appeared, but the whole process of their thinking and analyzing as a police is demonstrated in a realistic manner. It is quite possible that an unintentional wording of the criminal suspect is exactly the key to solving the whole case.Game playing method

Yo,
I thought I would not like this but turns out I did enjoy it. Some parts reminded me of Phoenix Wright (Tiger much?).
Obviously, as stated previously by others, the translation was not the greatest but some quality came through and the humour is about there despite it.
Might get around to the second one when I can.
Pros:
1) More FMV games for the avid fans.
2) Entertaining story.
3) Neat Concept.
Cons:
1) Translation needs A LOT of work.
2) Some of the clues didn't logically click or flow in a manner that made sense (had to use a guide).
I think this game targets a very niche group (FMV game enthusiasts and those who grew up watching campy Asian films). I feel that only huge fans of the the genre (or native speakers) will overlook the translation issues or the less than ideal game play. There's definitely potential with the company and I hope they take the feedback left by others for future projects.
I do hope going forward, they invest in a quality translator or at least someone who is more meticulous about spell-checking typos and weird formatting issues.
I wish I could give this a 5 rating instead of a hard yes/no recommend, but considering some of the limitations mentioned above, I can't in good conscience recommend this game to others.
For those who just want to enjoy the campy story line and don't mind spending $4, buy the game and play along with a walkthrough guide.
Off to test out the sequel.
I really wish their was a meh button on steam as this is neither a yes or no recommendation really.
Visitor is an FMV detective game. You watch the videos, pair up the clues and the conflicts of statements and unveil new evidence. However it is not without its problems.
The acting from the detectives is awful and childish. the suspects acting was really good but ouyang in particular was coming off as a bad anime character saying 有趣 (very interesting) every 30 secs while rubbing his eyebrow. God, please, no more. The three of them are arguing like kids and making huge leaps in assumptions. For a case about a murder everyone is very lackadaisy and joking around. Maybe some of the chinese audience liked it but for me, it ruined the atmosphere entirely.
Some of the puzzles are so convoluted its painful. There is no way you can jump to that conclusion. One of them has you go back and spot some obscure clue in the opening video a couple of hours into the game. Without a guide this game could take for hours. On top of that, some stages require two pieces of conflicting info. Sure you have the current witness statement and then you could just trial and error it. Some of them require 4 pieces of info. Without a guide, how would you even know you are on the right track?
The story also is very convoluted. The ending is somewhat bizarre and the leap in assumptions is insane. Like, yeah, the detectives have a theory but they just decide that it's the truth with no evidence supporting (play to the end and you will see what I mean) and then the final video is waaaay out there.
I finished it as I paid for it. Also wanted to brush up on my chinese. If I had to choose though I Probably wouldn't recommend it. I am also not a huge FMV detective fan though, maybe if you are into this sort of thing you would enjoy it.
To finish off, lets look at some positives as I feel I have pounded on this game a llittle.
Suspects acting was great. miao ge and laohu were in particular fantastic. Professor was very good at the end too.
Translation is respectable. A few parts I would translate differently but doesnt affect gameplay whatsoever and is still acceptable.
Is definitely a fun concept, even if the execution was not quite up to scratch.
Its up to you. I wouldnt say dont buy it but I wouldnt recommend it either. Its not too pricey though so on a sale day its worth a shot I suppose, especially if you like fmv detective stuff.
Visitor is a FMV-Detective game, where you have to find out who is the killer with combining evidences.
I'm going to say the positive things first. The game looks good. I can say that either the real recorded scenes and about the computer desktop, too.
The story is okay, finding out who is the killer is well made, and there are multiple ending, which is depends on the player, when you want to stop the investigation. There are some dark parts of the case, and also we can see some changes in the detectives, too.
The sounds are doing what it has to, nothing special, but nothing bad.
And last thing, but not least, you can play this game only with a mouse, which is a good thing tbh.
About the other parts of the game, I didn't like the characters. For me, the detectives felt bit annoying, especially the woman. I can give credit to them, because changing their characters are all right a did their job, but still, they had a lot of annoying moments for me.
Another big problem is the translation. They made an English subtitle for the game, but sometimes feels off, it's not meaning or mean another what the devs wrote in English. This sometimes slow my investigation.
And last thing, the game didn't had anything special, didn't had a soul. As I said, this is my own review, but when I started to play, I thought I'm going to collect evidences, interrogate people etc. , but in reality I just combining those evidences I have, and sometimes I have no idea how many evidences I have to combine and about what, thanks to the subtitle. And every time, it's the same: cut scene, detectives talking, interrogate someone, combine evidences, repeat.
For me, I didn't liked the game, but still I have to give credits to the good aspects of the game. As I said, the story was okay and had some twist, but didn't had soul, there was nothing more interesting while playing through, other than the story. If you really want to play a cheap priced FMV games, where you want to be a detective, you could try this one, but you going to have a hard time to understand what is happening.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat game! Very amateur-ish, bad use of English all over the place, but the story is super awesome. The jokes feel out of place, but there is a lot of juice in the mystery part of the game, to make you overlook its weaknesses.

There are two major problems with this game. One is the English translation, which might have been outsourced to Google. Every line has something wrong with it. Just as a minor example, the murder victim was injured, "with a blunt." Riiiiight...it is hard to detect any subtle hints that the game is attempting to drop when the information is conveyed badly like this. The second is the rigid structure the game expects you to follow. You get a new interview or clue, and it will contradict or confirm several previous things at once. Like the game "Contradiction," you are expected to match up pieces of evidence, but unlike that game, this game seems to be mostly linear. I was only ever able to get it to accept one path to continuing the plot at any point. There were other contradictions/confirmations in the new evidence, but the game would only recognize one of them. The connection that the game wanted was typically one that seemed irrelevant at the time, to the point that it felt like you had to try to match everything with everything else.
I did end up not finishing and returning this game due to the listed frustrations, but I wanted to point out that there were some good aspects: characters are well-defined. Even though I couldn't understand what they were trying to say due to the translation, I could see that everyone had a distinct personality. I also liked the interface; the videos have real controls included, so you can skip around, pause, and turn the volume up and down. This is very convenient, and I wish more games would let you do that with the cutscenes. I think the game holds some promise and would be worth playing if it ever got an improved translation. If you speak Mandarin, it is probably worth playing now.
I really enjoyed this game. It's a really pared down, simple interface and a nice use of FMV. The acting is great, it's very tongue-in-cheek and stars the developer who's cast himself, not as the hero, but as a gross, schlubby goon, which gives you some idea of the sense of humour behind it. Looking forward to seeing what the studio makes next!

整个游戏的剧情比较合乎实际，比较真实。（特别是天府立交和秒哥的四川口音）

游戏中演员演技基本可以，但是欧阳探长还是表演的太尬了。
The acting of the actors and the actress in the game is good, but Detective Ouyang's performance is a little embarrassing.
另外不得不说的还是这个游戏的成就，成就不多只有十个，但是完成起来有点难度，而且其中四个还是隐藏成就，探索成就似乎比完成剧情还有意思。:D
Another important thing is the achievent. There are 10 achievents, not to many, but a little difficult, so exploring and trying to complete the achievents may be more interesting. :D
谁能想到，在FMV已经绝迹近20年后，一部可圈可点的国产FMV就这么神秘地、莫名其妙地出现了。
This is a good and hard game. Why good? Because most time it is logical. Since it is from chinese logic, so it can be a little harder for non-chinese-native people to understand. But it is worth trying.

推理不够严密，游戏刚开始觉得还行玩一会儿就觉得玩法太过单一，线路过于简单不能有更多可能性，自由度不高，太过局限，线索也不是很巧妙，总体一般吧，游戏性比较低，希望能够更加有代入感不要总是要玩家跟着开发者的思想走，必须组合开发者要求的线索其他线索没有任何组合的提示说明这一点很不友好，玩起来总是觉得很别扭不能自己进行思考，而是去猜测开发者在想什么，很奇怪。。。
If you like FMV games this is a must buy. The amount of quality content you get for a small price is outstanding, the actors have some loveable traits and as far as connecting the dots is concerned the main game mechanic is very similar to "Contradiction" in that you combine witness statements that contradict each other or that contradict evidence. And even if you have no prior experience with games of this kind you'll figure out how it's supposed to work within the first couple of steps. But beware, even small details can become important later on, so don't blame your lack of attention on the game. This is very well made and a wholly deserved recommendation!

It's a very good puzzle game. Simple UI and good video scenrios. The story is thoughtful. You will
redigest the story structure after bingo it.
I really wanted to enjoy this game. As someone who is fluent in Mandarin I figured this would be interesting and fun. The problems arise with how you are supposed to solve these problems. For example, the very first evidence you get is about timing. Naturally you find the discrepancies here (they’re rather obvious) but the actual answer is to select Tiger’s first testimony and the image of the knife. This doesn’t make sense because the image of the knife is not a contradiction of anything he said.
Further down the line the same thing happens. Every clue seems wholly unrelated to the evidence you get. I understand a difficulty curve, but this game tries too hard to be obtuse to make it feel hard. If there was a hint system or something to help you when you are stuck this would be much more enjoyable. Since this game is so new there is nothing online I can find either.
Greetings from America... I believe games like these are very underrated. I know there is nothing to the mechanics but the challenge of the puzzle or the mystery for these types of games are what makes these games great. I had a great opening sequence with this game but i dont want to spoil anymore than i already did. Here is the opening gameplay.
