Short 3 story lines
Chinese Voice acting
Story not bad and cheap
EMOTIONAL DAMAGE.
Keep in mind, that here is absolutely no nudity in this visual novel, not even with the patch. In this brilliant, but sad love story you start off with already being in an relationship, not a lot of that concept flying around at all, so I really liked that. The visual novel is voiced in Chinese. The English translation, while not being good, gets the job done. The story takes place in an dystopian future, where nearly every aspect of a normal persons life is controlled by the government, even memories and love, its scary, you're not allowed any of that. Daisy is adorable and you get to really feel the intimacy of the love between her and the main character. Intimacy so great, that it makes you tear up. I couldn't imagine if I was forced to work and waste my entire life away only for the benefit of my country and in result, couldn't be with the girl I truly love. For the normal person, nothing sounds more sad and terrifying than that. Towards the last few moments of this visual novel, it really was hard to hold back tears, however I somehow managed.
Aside from the main story/ending, there are also 2 alternative stories/endings. In the first one, the main character experiences the daily struggles of the "nothings", just to hold onto even the last bit of memory of a girl he once loved. Towards the end of his days, he meets a very cute and monotone girl. A girl pretty emotionless, but even she can't stay emotionless once she hears out his story and sees the end of his days. This ending is just way too sad, it hurts too damn much. Just the thought of a life like that, makes me feel immense pain in my chest and makes it hard to hold back tears. You trade away your life of certainty to one of uncertainty to keep your precious memories and your sense of self, and to gain freedom, yet live the life of a "nothing" long enough and you'll start to lose your sense of self and most of the details of your memories, you turn into nothingness. At the end of the day, this ending was the worst one.
Second is a story about a writer, the writer of Lingering Fragrance, a project more than just a novel, a project of high importance and a project that saves people who never got to or didn't care enough to have any happy memories before going to college. And in this story, it is even further explained how immensely sad the reality is in the universe of Lingering Fragrance. All things considered, this is the best ending for our main character, I liked it the most. The plot twist in this story is quite insane and yet again, sad, and while I understood most of what was going on here, the very last scene left me confused.
There is SO much sad flying around in this visual novel, but sad stories are important too, sadness as an emotion, be however painful it is, is important too.
Wow, that was a completely unexpected turn of events... Writing could have been better but it probably looks weird mostly because of the translation to English.
Haven't been this confused and sad at the same time. Bit of a mind-fuck story but still enjoyable.
I got this on sale and didn't really look that deeply into it, but I was surprised at how nice it was despite its short length. I'll try to be spoiler free in my review, but I will be a little vague to make up for it. I also will admit I am biased as I do not know much at all about Chinese idioms and other things that may have gone over my head, and simply as a result of not having much exposure to the language was not particularly fond of the voice acting. It also was slightly confusing as to who "Me" is in each story, but it was only a minor gripe and it fits the theme to be so vague.
The first story is the longest, and in my opinion the weakest overall. It frontloads a lot of the setting and has a few annoying gags, though it does pay them off by the end, but the story itself is fairly uninspired. However, looking at it after having finished, I see that was the intention of it, even if it was a bit heavy handed on the worldbuilding.
The second was much shorter and more serious by comparison, drawing on the previous plot threads with a completely different perspective of the same thing, and it gave a more tragic ending with all kinds of confusing questions that aren't truly answered. In my opinion, this was the best story, and strengthened by the previous and the following.
The third was another different perspective, this time with neither a tragic nor happy ending. It was simply the revelation of what the rest was truly saying and showed "Me"'s dedication to a goal he never forgot.
I would recommend not looking much into the story before playing. It's short and sweet and sad and nothing is explained, but it was definitely a nice experience. Recommended.
An actually interesting dystopian theme disguised in a romance story.
I came in expecting some stupid dating part and maybe some sarcasm about society at the end. But no, it's actually well thought, not directly blaming anything or anyone but rather telling you what could go wrong and leave the opinion to the reader.
And the story takes a good twist. The ending explains everything and is quite satisfying. Impressive job for such a short story I'd say.
A hidden gem for me, it's this game made me buying all their stuffs. I want to see every new idea they have.
Well....that was emotional.
Lingering Fragrance is a kinetic visual novel that consists of three stories: Lingering, Fragrance and Nothing. You can't do them in your own order. You will start with Lingering and Fragrance will be unlocked after you finish the first story and so on. In case you do not know what "kinetic" means, it means that this visual has no choices for you to make. You just read through the story.
The first story involves a main character and his girlfriend Daisy as they enjoy a two-day vacation at an expensive resort. The plan is to spend their time there before they go to college because the government in this world has a lot of power. Sadly they find out real quick that many of the events their are really expensive, so they can't do much. Going back to how much power the government has, they can take away their memories. Additionally, the main character and Daisy will most likely be separated from each other in jobs that the government assigns to them.
In the second story Fragrance, you are in an area of toxic waste and garbage as you struggle to survive in the harsh conditions. Everyone in there, including yourself are against giving themselves to the government. Sure you will get an education, but as mentioned above, the government isn't all sunshine and rainbows.
The final story titled Nothing involves a third protagonist who had a nice life, but has to face punishment after committing a crime. I wish I had more to talk about this one, but if I did, I might spoil something, and this visual novel is definitely good to go through without any knowledge of it while going through it yourself.
The positives are from the art, music and story. The art was great and the CGs look amazing. At first, I was confused why the CGs weren't showing after I viewed them in the story, but they show up after finishing the last story. The backgrounds from the different settings from the field to the tower, while reused throughout the story, looked good. Plus the music sounded nice and changed to fit the tone of some scenes like intense music when something bad is happening. While the characters won't be the selling point to this,it was entertaining to listen to their lives and experiences. The story surprised me too from the different perspectives I read through. Sure the first story could be seen as just romance, but as they talk about the government and how it treats people, it's really sad. Not only was the stories sad, but tragic, especially Fragrance and Nothing as Lingering was more sad and depressing. As you go on in the story, you question about everything from how the government works to who are the characters and what are their names. However, those qualities might not matter due to the government's treatment of its people. This visual novel is really heart-breaking, and just understanding it more just makes me even more sad.
One nitpick I have though is that, in the first story Lingering, some CGs aren't seen. In one scene when Daisy decides to give the protagonist a massage, it fades to black when it was supposed to lead to a scene. I guess it was because they could be seen as too "adult", but Daisy mentions something in a scene that made me go "What? When did that happen?". Plus when went to the next day after Daisy was gonna give us a massage, she's blushing, talking about the event and asking if we liked it. I have looked everywhere, and there doesn't seem to be a patch for it. It didn't ruin the story in the slightest, but I would like the option for a patch to have the option to view those scenes.
Overall, Lingering Fragrance is a kinetic visual novel that has a good story that can leave you in tears. The art is great, and the setting just makes you feel bad for the characters as you learn more about how it all works. I definitely recommend this one. There might be a few mistakes involving grammar, but it's not a lot to be considered bothersome. It's not perfect, but it is definitely a good visual novel. If I had to rate it, I would give it a 7/10. It may seem short in some parts, but it is unique and I enjoyed it from start to end.
For those wondering about gameplay aspect this is a pure visual novel. There are no relationship "paths" or action sequences to partake in. This is a broad story that takes place in three segments. Lingering, Fragrance and Nothing. I won't add any spoilers to discuss the content of each segment, but suffice to say they are cooperative storylines and not the same one three times over.
There are some scenes like the hot spring and bedroom that lend this to be a mature game, but no actual H content like some other games would portray. This is a romance story so one should expect some romantic content in a game like this. Fair warning for someone looking for something more adventure driven.
My first impressions of this game were quite good. The artwork is decent and the plot and outcome of this novel were not what I was expecting at all. It actually was a thought provoking and touching story to the end. Being that I purchased it on sale I expected a poorer story and was pleasantly proved wrong by this one.
For a "few" negatives which I only mention as observation points - Few other characters appear on the screen besides the girl and the maid from the hotel. There are robots but you never see one and other guests but you don't see them either. Backgrounds are not numerous in number and reused quite often, but as long as that doesn't distract the viewer from enjoying the story then it is really not a big deal. It would have been neat to know more about the world these people lived in and you only get some hints towards that aspect by completing all three segments of the story.
Overall if you want a tug on the heartstrings and enjoy stories of young romance then give this one a try.
I expected a cute visual novel about you and your girlfriend going on a last graduation trip with some sexual content, got a life pondering VN and a completely different view on society with extra bit of wholesome content. And I ain't even joking
As a visual novel vet, I will say that Lingering Fragrance had a good story, although I didn't cry. Since it's pretty short, it was a bit hard for me to get overly attached to the characters but still enjoyed trying to deconstruct it and it did provide "feels" at some point. As a bonus, it's available for a pretty cheap price and the translation is quite solid after the update. Only found a few grammatical errors unlike Gaokao. Basically reminded me a bit of "Kimi no na Wa" and "the Fountain" with the multiple protagonists layered across three different stories but enjoyed it more than I expected. 7.5/10
This was actually way more beautiful than I had first expected. I was a bit worried it might be one of those games that revolve around inappropriate content, and well, it does have a few of those moments here and there, but the overall story is quite touching and sad. I personally enjoyed it, and would definitely play it again in the future if I feel like reading something romantic or sad. If you are a fan of visual novels, I highly recommend this game! But please note, it really isn't appropriate for all users.
Pros:
- Beautiful, tear-jerking story
- Great voice acting (Chinese)
- Decent English translation
- Great art
- Interesting concept
Cons:
- A few mistakes here and there
- Uncomfortable scenes or sentences (for me, at least)
- It can be a little confusing sometimes
Overall, I give this visual novel 7/10. It's quite unique.
Okay so I bought this game expecting there to be erotic literature that I could enjoy or use to help better my own writing, or for there to at least be some good ero scenes. There are two, and one is partially skipped. Don't buy this game if that's all you want. That said, I found that this game has so much more to offer than most game's i've played. It has a very complex storyline that took me hours of gushing to a friend in order to piece together, and the romance is just top tier. If you are discouraged at first, I understand. Little spoiler, there are 3 chapters in the game. At the end of the first you will likely feel discouraged to continue, but trust me man, the payoff is well worth the effort. And it's only 4 bucks. I spend way more at worlds of fun, but get way less enjoyment than this game.
This is a kinetic novel. It has three paths which are unlocked in sequence. They center around a parallel universe where the government chooses your vocation after you graduate and then wipes your memory of any unnecessary attachments. Such as your girlfriend. So this is your last hurrah with her.
It is not a happy story. Still would recommend. Maybe on discount.
This Visual Novel is the VN I played.
The story is kinda confusing to me. But I still trying to correct it.
The CG, artworks and background is really beautiful. Love the illustrator.
You should try this game. Concentrate on the story not like 18+ CG or Scene. The story is beautiful.
I recommended you to check out this game. Really enjoy it.
This is my first Visual Novel. It's not a genre I have ever had experience of until I played Doki Doki Literature Club (some introduction, huh?).
This is a three part story, which initially seemed to be alternate outcomes of the initial story. This proved not to be the case (more on this later).
The first tells the initial story, and a short "40 years later" outcome.
The second seemed, at this point, to be an alternate outcome from the initial story. It is very sad in places, and I confess that I cried my eyes out at one part.
The third initially seemed to be a director's commentary of the initial story, but then everything became clear and tied everything together.
After this, you realise that they weren't alternate endings, but all part of the same reality. Only, what is reality? Where does the real end and the fake begin? Just like the artificiality of the resort becomes apparent, so does the artificiality of reality itself.
Overall, it was all very sad and bittersweet, if not downright depressing. I don't know how I feel about all this right now. I think I'm glad that I played it.
Well, I say "played", but this really is just a story with pictures and sound. There are no choices to be made, and the only interaction to be had is to click on the text bar to get the next line of text. As such, I don't think there is any replay value.
Awesome music, art and style. Just the translation could be a little better.... But I don't care! Very good game, are there more Vn's of this developer?
Okay, this may be my first time I ever played a Visual Novel game... but this is a quiet disappointment start for me.
Where do I begin? First of, the game is barely called a Visual Novel. Yeah, I just said that. There's no like, interaction between the players and the character, there's no alternate path for the story (which you're stuck on one road throughout the story), there's no even other girls to Talk with. No, throughout the story, you had a girlfriend and remaining close to her for last 2 days on vacation by manmade location before college. That's it. You'll unlocked more story after you beat it (which is a spoiler, by the way), but again, there's no alternate path for it. All you doing is basically just like reading a novel book. That's basically what it is, a novel book. No interaction for different actions.
But even though it's a novel book, those are kinda got overshadowed with the story in general. It does had quite of good moments when the main character suddenly thinking something for certain scene of the story, like thinking about something else came in mind while seeing something else. I love that kind of feeling, and makes you wondering a lot sometimes.
Speaking of seeing something else, the art style is great. No, I'm serious, I even decided to put almost all of these backgrounds art as my desktop wallpaper. The locals are fascinating and look memorable and as a person who likes arts, I respect it.
Although, I may not recommend it to anyone. As you guys probably saw the tags of this game, there is a sexual content and swearing words (sometimes) in this game. Those scene are rarely happened, though, but it happens unexpectedly. Luckily, I was already legal to see it, so there's that. So unless you're 18 years old or more, don't play it. Lmao
So yeah. Although I can't say that I recommend it to anyone because, again, it's barely a Visual Novel, but I did recommend this game for good story for reading. It's alright start for me for Visual Novel. Quite disappointed, but I had quite a good time for the story.

This kinetic visual novel with adult content (ecchi CGs, text and dialogue only) by BLESTWORKS, 橘子班 and NVLMaker features 3 different unnamed male protagonists in 3 different stories in a dystopian Chinese setting.
In the first story Lingering, it features the first protagonist who is going to enjoy two days at a resort for the rich, powerful and famous with his high-school girlfriend Daisy after they both take many part-time jobs to afford their tickets to the resort. They plan to spend their last two days together at the resort to enjoy their last moments together before they separate, go to attend higher education and have their memories of each other erased in order to have a job and a future assigned to them by the government.
In the second story Fragrance which is unlocked after completing Lingering, features the second protagonist who spends much of his life within the garbage and toxic waste dump beneath the resort as a Nothing in order to resist the temptation to submit to the government and receive an education.
In the third story Nothing that is unlocked after completing Fragrance, it features the third protagonist who held a stable job at the resort and faces arrest for violating a law.
Reading and listening through the text and dialogue and unlocking all achievements by completing all three stories will take a few hours. The game has great artwork in game cover, CGs, soundtrack album cover and achievement icons, attractive animation, pleasant background music and believable voice acting where it conveys the mood of the character well.
The plot appears simplistic at first as a romance between a couple and later becomes a tale of three different characters where their adult lives are affected by the government and the people around them. Although the title of this visual novel and the choice of colours used in the game artwork cover suggests a sweet romance and ending, it is actually far from that where all three stories become more bleak and end at a neutral or tragic ending. Also, there is significant lag each time upon starting the game while loading the animation at the title screen.
This game features a dystopian Chinese setting with attractive anime artwork, good voice acting, pleasant background music and easy achievements. The implied political overtones may make some readers feel uncomfortable due to being familiar with actual real-world events and personalities. Also, it has adult content which is neither here nor there by not having artwork, humour or voice acting to bring it out.
For those who don't mind any of these, this kinetic visual novel has an interesting storyline as a drama visual novel in a dystopian Chinese setting which not many visual novels have. After seeing how the development team are responsive to user feedback and reviews to address technical display problems and errors in the text and dialogue of the game, I am recommending this game with soundtrack DLC when they are at discount or bundle offer. This is because the entire game can be completed in around 3 hours where at full price, it fell short of my expectations of a dollar for an hour of playtime by a bit and the game is also a kinetic visual novel where there are no choices to be made. For the soundtrack DLC, it does not contain any song with vocals which made the soundtrack DLC less appealing. As such, I could only recommend both the game and soundtrack DLC when they are at discount.

Great story line, Gives you a new view on society. May make you appreciate what you have and think about it before you loose it. I didn't much care for the two extra stories that unlocked after the main story line. Worth the cost of owning this tho.
