Explore the most prestigious occult school in North America, The Miskatonic University, in a hilarious dark comedy set after the Lovecraft canon, in which Innsmouth is demolished, Cthulhu is perpetually immobilised, England is overrun with cannibals, Antarctica is plundered, and the greatest threat to mankind is its own ambitions.
Charlotte LeStrange, a former member of the Chesuncook witch cult blessed with magically mind-altering eyes, has been recently hired by The Miskatonic to perform errands for the mutated faculty and patrol the Occult Science wing of the university. A bubbly and inquisitive sort, Charlotte is fascinated with the monsters and mutants of the stories and spells, and a job at The Miskatonic seems like a dream come true! Though behind the supernaturally disfigured staff, the unusually invasive science teachers, and the adorably horrifying cosmic abominations known as the Dunwichers, hides a vast, nightmarish conspiracy that only Charlotte herself is equipped to solve!
- A dark comedy kinetic visual novel set in a post-Lovecraft universe.
- Interact with dozens of strange characters in a multitude of open hub areas.
- Follow Charlotte LeStrange's story from simple witch girl to soft-boiled occult detective.

It's real short, and not super expensive, but fun. Worth your time, I promise.
absolutely a hidden gem of an exploratory visual novel.
the art style is wonderfully charming, the world is a very imaginative take on Lovecraft's expanded mythos, and the characters all feel like unique beings. the dialogue is fun, and nothing really condescends or takes its reader for granted.
best impulse buy I've had in a long long time
Weird, fun, and a decent length for the price. Kinda wish there was more side material, with most of the characters getting maybe 4-5 lines each, but I enjoyed the both un-serious yet dark tone of the read.
If you like dark humour, crass jokes, and eldritch horror lore, wrapped in cute characters, give it a try. If you dislike visual novels, gore, or the fact one character shows a boob later on (it... wasn't what I would call lewd) then maybe steer clear.
Really enjoyed the story.
If You want to spend time in someone else's world, meet their fun and interesting characters, You like dark and Lovecraftian themes, but don't need to take it seriously all the time, and/or You dig the art-style presented on screens, this game is for You!
The most common criticism I see in other reviews is thus - the game has literally no choices (beyond essentially the order of speaking to people in the room). And that is true. However I have to push back a little on it, as a be-all, end-all. I really, really love meaningful choices in the games, and VN's are really great for that. However... I played games that masquerade their singular story with choices that are pretty meaningless, or make the story actively worse. And I also played VN's with no choices at all, but characters, story, or art-style made them great experiences anyway. And "The Miskatonic" is squarely in the second camp for me.
So if lack of choices is a deal-breaker, that one is probably not for You. But would it necessarily be better to be given choices? That depends. I would like to have some too, if they were well made, but I'd rather see someone's singular vision, than badly implemented, uninteresting branches that kill the immersion, and lead to a lesser experience.
The way I see it - this one can really be taken as a webtoon. And a pretty cool one too. It literally costs a dollar and it's really forth the prize. Why not just make it a comic then? Well, (and I say it as someone that has some experience trying to create both games, and comics) making a comic is usually a waaay bigger task, because it is fine to repeat assets in a game. This story could be one of those that were to either be told in this form, or not at all. And that, would be a real shame and a loss.
I adore the artwork, I think it's really charming. The music (though there is only 1 track, and the ambience) is fitting and got a very nice beat to it. I like the characters. Some of them are really fun, and some have a great chemistry between them. And they can be a little silly, but that's comedy here. The story is logical (for this setting), and I had no problems following people's motivations, which already puts it above a lot of triple A titles XD The ending was described by some as "open", but I really don't see it this way. It closes a big chapter in all the characters' lives, and at least for me - was satisfying. You learn who went where, to do what, and have an idea of how their lives will look from now on. There is a possibility of further events that may lead to conflict... but isn't that in every story, unless all the characters die, or something?
The only thing I really don't like is... I don't know what engine the game was made in, but it defies a lot of conveniences, I'm used to in a typical RenPy' visual novel. No options menu, limited save slots, mouse-only input, no scrolling back to see the previous text. And I just see no reason for it to be this way.
Dr. Therst Valentine, the manipulative G.O.A.T.
cant make your own choices just a playable comic. Good art
This is not a game as others have said. But that is fine with me. My biggest issue is this was written like a horny immature person who has never talked to another human being. It is like bad AI scripted teen novel. I don't know what my expectation was - I guess I was excited for a lovecraftian text based adventure game. But the dialog made me cringe so hard I had to quit and remove from my account... and I read Webtoons and smut. This is just on par with bad fanfic.
A humorous and comedic interpretation of the Cthulhu Mythos, featuring charming and entertaining characters set against a dark, madness-filled atmosphere. Although the short story length and sudden endings, which leave players wanting more, are somewhat disappointing, the intriguing plot and witty dialogue make for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
