The game is fun. Devs must improve the hitbox areas of some bosses. Looking forward to another ace game
Aces of the Luftwaffe - A pretty decent remake of the old 1943 plane game with a twist on the old school formula, a dash of hard bullet hell mechanics as well as characters that behave differently every mission. Some get poisoned so you need to move slowly, others bail because they can't deal with heights...imagine a pilot being scared of heights.
Anyways, it adds a layer of charm to the game by adding builds and characters with back stories and reasons why you'd want to level them up: Skills. Having a bunch of different skills makes it a ton better with things like stealth and screen wipes.
All and all, it's a great fun game that you can even coop should you feel the burden of flying solo.
Highly recommend to all the bullet hell fans out there!
A simple, colorful, and affordable vertical shooter, Aces of the Luftwaffe - Squadron was fun and accessible for its short one time and very low price. It has some issues with its voice acting and hit detection, but its better then its mixed review score might suggest.
The player and up to three friends or AI bots take the role of members of an American fighter squadron, attempting to repel an airborne invasion of the US by the Nazis (which, perhaps unsurprisingly from a German-developed title, are never expressly identified as such nor are represented by anything other then generic Iron Crosses) in 1946. Each character has different active and passive abilities unlocked by the skill tree, and the AI players will use their available powers as much as they can, which is especially useful in the case of Melissa, who possesses the ability to repair the squadron's craft.
The game's most questionable aspect is actually its tone and story- the game is not really sure whether it wants to be a goofy, Metal Slug-esque action title or a serious World War 2 story, and never comes to a decision on this, but it's hardly an impediment to the gameplay, which is straightforward arcade action. A decent shmup experience.

Really enjoyed the base game, so added this to continue the experience. It's not as good as the base game, as even if you skip the level introductory dialogue, there is more during the stages that you can't skip. The dialogue will get in the way during a number of stages, making it a nuisance to 'perfect' some levels.
The action is still good, with decent boss fights, but I didn't find them near as challenging as the base game, except for the last boss in the DLC. While the base game was a real grind, the DLC and all acheivements for it,can be completed without having to acquire all the upgrades. Maybe they toned it down a bit because of complaints of difficulty of the base game.

It has an interesting system where you control a squadron that also shoots and provides buffs.
There is a progression system where you can unlock skills for all members of the squadron, gain aircraft drops with their own stats.
However, its a bit awkward maneuvering the squadron without being hit, later on impossible even.
While your ships are small on screen there is the constant feeling that there is not enough maneuvering space. It becomes especially annoying during the final chapter where its Id say impossible to evade some attack formations. Level design overall feels bland.
You need to grind in order to progress as later levels become harder, later bosses have too much health and take up too much of the screen to the point it becomes tedious.
The squadron also has weaknesses that come into play during missions which acts as an extra challenge, but overall its just more annoying.
The story writing isnt that interesting and its delivery is annoying.
It feels crude in many aspects, unfortunately. Unless you want something to grind while listening to something else, I dont think its worth it.
