I enjoy revisiting this game occasionally. I recently played it again because its sequel, Lagoon Lounge 2 - The Secret Roommate, was released. I needed a story refresh since I had completed this game years ago when it first came out.
The story is simple but charming. While the characters' views on LGBT topics are outdated, it feels authentic when you encounter people who aren't knowledgeable about the subject.
Overall, I find the story to be an enjoyable experience to play through. It's definitely worth replaying when I'm in the mood for it.
If only I could throw 100 yen into the fountain to be in Harusu. What a wonderful time it would be eating at the lounge with everyone :))
I finally got to play this and I very much enjoyed it. Next up is Lagoon Lounge 2!
yea this game made me come
Honestly, for such a simple story, I kind of like it. It has a solid "be careful what you wish for" narrative that comes across pretty well. The characters have depth, with a mix of positive and negative traits, and the sound/music is quite endearing. The background images also give off a pretty cozy vibe. The novel really captures the feeling of what early visual novels looked like in the beginning/past. I also really enjoyed the small, close-knit atmosphere of the game, the small cast, and the lack of drama—it gives off the charming, cozy vibe of a secluded lagoon.
That said, I wouldn’t really call this a "dating sim" or a “choices matter” game. The only decisions you make are whether to view the adult scenes or skip them—there’s no real dating or branching storylines to explore.
While the game is flagged as 18+, it’s worth noting that to actually see the adult content, you need to install it separately for some reason. However, the adult scenes are well-written and offer a variety of scenarios with each cast member.
I’d recommend this game if you’re looking for a nostalgic and cozy visual novel experience with a simple story—or if you’re horny for furry bara dudes.
Main character is a goofy fella.
Funny dialogue, good character designs/ interactions and a simple yet immersive story.
Lagoon Lounge: Furry Bara Men. Yep. That's The Game.
Lagoon Lounge, a visual novel game with a furry theme, intrigued me as a fan of the VN genre. I embarked on a blind playthrough, and my overall experience was heartwarming, even though it was relatively short. The game offers optional adult content that can be ignored if not desired. Now it isn't perfect nor is it it for the faint of heart/
One notable drawback lies in the choices presented, or er... the lack of them I should say. Despite the presence of any real choices, they don't significantly impact the story, leading to a lack of meaningful consequences. Additionally, certain scenes, like one involving non-consensual acts with a straight character and another where punishment is enforced on a married character, may make players uncomfortable. Fortunately, these scenes are avoidable through player choices as the R18 content isn't inherently included in the steam port and has to downloaded separately.
The length of the game is another issue to consider. While it offers a pleasant short story with clean and attractive artwork, the limited content may not justify its full price. Completion primarily involves viewing all CGIs, which consist mainly of sex scenes, with only one ending.
Lagoon Lounge, originally released as Himitsuri no Lagoon in 2012 and officially translated into English in 2014, has been remade with upgraded visuals, sound enhancements, and the addition of a character named Arashi. Some minor script issues, such as typos and missing punctuation, persist from the original version but don't impede the game harshly.
In conclusion, Lagoon Lounge is recommended for fans of furry visual novels, provided it's purchased during a sale or for those specifically seeking this niche genre. It's alright I guess.
A really very nice game.
I really like the story and the charatere and the story is really very great
Thank you for this beautiful game.
To be honest I am sad that it is already over, but maybe I will look at the special mode again ^^,
Anyway, I can really recommend the game, I really liked the story.
I really enjoyed the story. The graphics and music are good. The characters and their relationships with each other were all very sweet and touching.
A couple of scenes were veering into uncomfortable territory, but since they're skippable I can forgive this time.
I am a bit disappointed with how the translation is handled. I tend to struggle with names. The characters all have Japanese names and that makes it harder for me. They also speak to each other using Japanese honorifics, and all of that means nothing to me. I wouldn't even have known to call it that if they didn't say so in the dialogue. Having more familiar western names and re-writing the honorifics to be a bit more natural for an English reader would have made it more enjoyable for me. I don't intend offense, I just don't speak Japanese.
I think Lagoon Lounge is a bit short for its price, but I enjoyed it regardless.
This is a cute gay furry visual novel with a questionable main character. I enjoyed it, but I want to make clear how this game with the r18 path is different than the original to help inform you of which to purchase, as I started with this game, loved it, and played all this and the original in the course of one month.
Lagoon Lounge, originally known as Himitsuri no Lagoon in Japanese, is the first game of a trilogy released back then in 2012. It got translated in English officially back then in 2014.
This is game somewhat of a remaster of that game with upgrades in the visuals, engine, additional sounds, and a few scenes changed for the steam release. It's harder to spacebar through the dialogue in the steam version, but the skip bar goes at turbo speed compared to the original. The original is locked into either display mode or full screen mode; this game features an HD remaster for those wanting a more immersive visual novel experience. There's some polish in some of the dialogue. However, both games have some grammatical inconsistencies, with the original having more issues and lack of periods. It's nothing too disrupting, but if you're something of a grammar Nazi, buy this copy.
The noticeable differences in this game include the option to skip the adult content and some scenes that had to get cut from the steam edition. You'll notice that there are scenes where it seems like there's a dialogue tree and tease possible adult content. This game has an R18 patch where you could not see it otherwise. The remaster has somewhat better dialogue than the original for the reason that the scenes transition a little bit better rather than being stumbled upon by happenstance. Take one of the first scenes, for instance where you get to see a character naked. In the original, you see the scene automatically but here you get teased and can choose not to see the scene. It's a much more natural way to incorporate the adult content into the game and helped me realize that this game and the third in the series have such a solid story that they work well even without adult content.
The main character, Kuugo, however, is extremely questionable. You would never know his name from the start since the game does not start with the option to use his name from the start. There are two scenes with questionable consent in this game, but if they are treated well in this installment of the series (see next paragraph). The original also includes where you help an underage kid learn the wonders of self pleasure. It get referenced in the third installment and becomes much more questionable there. The game has the additional inclusion of a chubby cat chef named Arashi, which is unfortunately only in this game. He has a very hot scene and I'm based in saying the game is worth buying for him alone.
An issue I had for the second and third installments of the games is that they're r18 games from the start. This leads to many scenes that could have much more buildup, adult content for the sake of including more adult content, and characters performing more gay content that stretches their sexuality. The next two games, for instance, focus on a character called Rei who has a crush on Kuugo, but it's never described in much depth. The characters in this remaster are treated with much more sincerity and make the more questionable r18 scenes easier to take in here.
A character gallery only present in the third game is available from the start in this game. If the characters designs in this game appeal to you, try this game out.
Fortunately, none of the games feature any cheesy adult dialogue, and you can finish the game in 2-4 hours. I finished the game in around 3 hours, reading somewhat quickly. You can enjoy this game just for the visual novel aspect, as I think this game has a very well written plot. if you also like 1) furries, 2) homosexual content 3) gay sex scenes, I really reommend the game as a whole.
While I would recommend the game overall, it is incredibly short for the price.
The art is well made and its paired with a actually decent story.
It is let down by the game being so short and it lacks any truly branching story.
my english is bad. i hope others understand
i really love this Lagoon lounge old version and it's remake.
i can't wait for LL 2 and Ll3 come.
for creator a game u are the best.
Lounge lagoon 2 & 3 n Knights college 2 i cant wait
I hope it will be released soon
Took some major trial and error to download the NSFW bits but when you're horny, you do what you gotta do. The story line itself was interesting and you can save at any point so if you screw up and say the wrong thing, or if you just wanna see how another option would play out, you don't have to skim the same dialogue. Overall good game, and good furry dick
After playing Knights College, I went and played this game as well. Both of these are great. They both tell great stories. While Knights College tells a better story and has better characters, Lagoon Lounge is still a fantastic, but very short game. It took me about 4 hours to complete at my slow reading pace, whereas Knights College took me 10 hours.
All I can really say about this, is that it's a fantastic game worth playing.
For those of you who say this game is about a rapist, no it's not. Although I will say, the way the characters interact in these games (Knights College and especially Lagoon Lounge) are very much like the story writing in porn. This may shock people, but these games, while they are about the story, but also is meant for to be played for its sex scenes (which is fairly pornographic). And once again just saying, looking at it from that stance, it makes sense some scenes resemble writing from a porno because that's kind of the point?
Don't get me wrong, you can get a lot out of this even without the sex scenes since the story is so good, but the sex scenes just add something.... extra too.
Anyway, highly recommend both of these, and I hope they continue making these. They are definitely the best furry games out there!
It's a fun game, the story is... interesting, there is some little fetish like the peeing with the main character and one of the characters, but I guess I only saw that because I installed the R-18 patch, I guess if you don't have the patch, you can't see that, but not counting the +18 scenes, the story is quite engaging and interesting, it's a pretty short story, only lasting 2 and a half hours, but it's quite enjoyable, I recommend you to take it on offer.
The story is great, and i don't mind the "scenes" at all. along with Knights College, the story is okay, i had high expectations of this game because its a remastered one, but after playing the entire game, i prefer the old version of this. it had some small stuff that was lacking in this remastered version, like sound effects and a better UI and the ability to hide the UI. I couldnt read the text clearly on this version too when the background is bright. There was also some omissions from the old one, which was good, and for the scene with the black cat was not good, if you are lighthearted, skip that part with the black cat. I guess thats why its called poisonous fountain because of what caused the protagonist to loose his job, hence the scenes of r*pe.
I don't get why there are still people who is hating the fandom, but aren't mad at other communities/hobbyists who have done way much hurtful things. I don't give a damn if you are in a fandom that likes rocks, go ahead... But when you use that rock to hurt others, that's the only time to get mad and upset.
Hi there, I am curious. Are you gonna release the Lagoon Lounge 2 and 3 also the christmas event in Steam?? cause you know the best part of the series is sequel of this version. i mean in lagoon lounge just introduction of all character and what happen in it. but in the lagoon lounge 2 and 3 are more deep explore about them
Pretty short but enjoyable. Story was okay. The decisions were pretty straightforward, do this and get that, don't do something and miss out. The characters were alright too. Around 2-3 hours to 100% it for me.
Enjoy it for what it is I suppose.
A very good game i would say yet i can finish it one day. In case for more intense emotion, I recommend try also Knights College. It pulls my heartstrings even stronger and makes me super emotional for weeks. Great job!
Are you kidding me!? This game is about a rapist. You play a rapist. I really wish literally any other one of the hundreds of reviews here just outright called this crap out for what it is.
Now, maybe in the SFW version he’s not so horrible, I don't know, but in the R18 patch that adds all the NSFW, sexually explicit content, which is what everybody was recommending (and what I was interested in as a sex blogger), the protagonist is a real shitty person…
Of the six scenes added throughout the entire game experience, all but two are super messed up on the ethical front. You literally sexually assault not one, but two characters, and then are assaulted yourself later on as well.
Yikes. It's a shame because I actually really liked the story and Gou and Sousuke are such good boys. But this game doesn't shove sexual assault in your face without any warning but it tries to convince you that it's okay! That's a pretty damn irredeemable flaw in a sex game IMHO.
DO NOT recommend. At all.
It's fun! I recommend this game! (btw, don't forget to download the R18 patch from the lagoon lounge official website tho, it's epic!)
I'm gay. This is gay. The NSFW part is even gayer, so yeah. It's gay with a side of a good story.
10/GAY, would gay again.
Honestly, I really love this game! The graphics are amazing, the *Ahem* Sex Scenes are great (To unlock the NSFW content, you must go to the creator's website and download the R18 Patch for the game, it's free), the plots amazing, I am completely blown away by this remake! I think it's definitely worth the money! And I am looking forward to when you guys release a Lagoon Lounge 2 Remake! Definitely worth the money! I love it!
I'm sorry, but I have to not recommend this title at it's current price.
The good:
* Very good art (even though the backgrounds are basically just photoshopped real pictures).
* Great soundtrack, a lot of music tracks, very calm and fitting
The neutral:
* The story has a good setting and potential, but doesn't really live up to it.
The bad:
* Really short (in 3 hours you can easily see and read all the possible paths and content the game has, and that's without even reading fast).
* Choices are pointless - Basically every choice in the game is "Do you want to see the NSFW scene with this character or not?" and doesn't impact the story what so ever.
I loved games such as Nekojishi and the yet to be released Extracurricular activities - but they gave more varied and better content and for a better price by far (Nekohishi is free, and Extracurricular activities costs less and has a metric TON of content - and both have meaningful choices and are replayable more then once).
So I'm disappointed with what this title had to offer for the price it cost.
I heard there are more chapters/parts to the story, and I would definitely check them out when/if they release, but unless their price or content is better then this game, I will probably skip them.
I discovered Lagoon Lounge 4 years ago, when the game was officialy translated in english, and now that the remake is here, I want to give a little review to this game.
First: Characters, new CGs, Music, Backgrounds everything was beautiful. I really have nothing to say about this. It felt nostalgic to hear some musics, the new ones are really great too, and it bring a smile to my face to see the characters again in HD. The text box is really good, we are able to see the characters, and the background easier with this.
Story: I did notice the little difference with the old version, it was really good. (More description, new dialogue, new scene) The new character Arashi is well written, and Odaru was able to put him nicely in the story. Maybe the chapter where you can obtain Arashi's scene fell a little out of place.
The translation is great, smooth, you can understand everything easily.
Screenshoot is really nice, especially in the extra room, but you can only put one character at a time, so... you can't actually do special scene, with it.
Time: I finish it in 3 hours, so... I would gave to 2-5 hours to read everything depending on your reading speed.
The steam version doesn't contain any R18 scene, if you want the R18 version you will have to downlaod the patch, which is free on this site : http://www.kaiju09.com/lagoonloungeEnglish/
and follow the step to implemented the patch.
Both the old, and the new version had their charm, and if you are new to this, you can still find the old version if you curious to know how was the original.
Anyways, I think I talk about everything. I enjoyed reading the story, and I had a really good time.
Lagoon Lounge, originally known as Himitsuri no Lagoon in Japanese, is the first game of a trilogy released back then in 2012. It got translated in English officially back then in 2014.
This version is actually a remake of it, despite being announced back then as a remaster. There's not a lot of differences, other than the upgrade in visuals, engine, sounds additions of music, and the addition of the character Arashi. The author also cut a certain scene with the only underage character, thankfully.
Having played the original 4 years ago, I'm not sure if the script changed, but it is still missing some little polish. There's a couple of typos, and some missing periods at the end of sentences. This was my main gripe with the original game, I'm really sad to see it wasn't fixed. The translation, other than that, is smooth, easy to understand, and good; it's just missing someone to do the quality assurance on it!
The page makes it pretty clear that it contains furry and homosexual content, so if you're reading this review from the store page, I guess you're not learning anything new. The sex scenes are unavailable in the game without some modding, obviously. Also, a little warning; the main character can be quite... rapist? depending on your choices, for 2 scenes.
I really enjoyed my time with this visual novel, I read it in one go. You can expect 2 to 5 hours for it, depending on your reading speed. (Mine? I read really fast.)
The story is interesting, the characters also are, and I think it's worth it for people who wants more game featuring 1) furries, 2)homosexuality, and 3)gay sex scenes.
