WARNING: You may be tempted to spend hours painting your characters, looking forward to playing them, but it will all be a waste of time and money. You can't use them in single player mode, and you will probably rarely find anyone to play multi-player. I tried to get a refund but I spent too much time painting the pieces and didn't qualify for my money back. I will gladly change my review to a positive if the devs fix this problem (what were they thinking?!?) but I'm not holding my breath as it appears they have abandoned the game. Too bad... this appears fun but a big part of the allure for me was the customization and I feel duped.
I think it was a decent game, but it's dead as doornails now.
DON'T BUY IT, THE GAME IS DEAD.
While they later added a (pretty simple) single-player mode so you can somewhat play alone, this is clearly a competitive 1vs1 game, and currently there is no one playing so you simply can't find any opponents to play with (I spent like 40 minutes searching in ranked and unranked mode until I gave up).
This, coupled with the fact that they haven't released any updates for almost a year (aside from asking you to vote for them in the Steam Awards 2024...) and the rumors that they got their funding cut off, makes it very clear that the game is dead and there are no plans to revive it.
Even with a heavy discount, this is only worth it if you have a group of friends and you all want to buy the game to play with each other. While it is simple, the game itself is pretty fun and there are a decent amount of different units to play with, so this approach might be a good idea.
Everything is good about this game
An underrated strategy game to be sure. This game encourages thoughtful team composition and optimal synergy. Any combo you *think* will work, *will* work and get you closer to your goal or deny your opponent their goal. Further on, if you like miniature painting but can't afford the outrageous prices a certain company charges, you can also spend plenty of hours painting the figures in the game; I certainly have.
Also, check out the "Moonbreaker" audio stories Unknown Worlds made that revolves around various characters that are in this game. The stories can be found on various sites but are also in the game as another little treat :)
It's a great fun game with really well thought out combat and a great aesthetic. One of my favourite features is that you can paint the models yourself. It really is the best miniature tabletop experience video game out there. You can tell it's been made with such passion and love for it, there's a rich lore that's been developed. There's lots of quirky fun characters.
Come and play it!
Cool game and all but let me tell you this... Devs gave up on this game super fast
No updates no ''we are working on it guys'' no nothing
although its pretty fun for like 5-10 hrs i DO NOT recomend buying a game that could have been something great
go find something that is
Great game, both for painting and for playing. The solo/bot modes are fun (pvp is dead) But I do have to say it is a little scummy of the devs to post on steam asking for steam awards nominations when they have not said a word about the game (and no updates) for almost a year....
It's a good game, dragged down by lack of players. Can't find a match without setting it up on discord.
The singleplayer is shallow, yet I come back from time to time.
Painting is kinda fun, but if I can't show it off to other players in a battle, it feels pointless.
Just wishing for another Bricky resurgence.
It's pretty fun!
Really wanted this for 1 player and local-coop, but it only works online and restarts your game if you sleep your computer (eg: close your laptop lid) and come back. Very sad because I do think it's got a lot of depth. Sadly I think they expected this to be a hit huge online game, which I don't think makes sense for the format.
Please devs, make this better for single/local-coop and I think it would be awesome.
Warhammer (both painting and playing) but you don't have to buy every figure.
It is very fun for a little bit, but there are not enough possibilities to make the game interesting. It seems to have been abandoned by the devs so gamers ought to just ignore it too since the devs stop caring.
This is an incredibly good example of why you should MARKET YOUR FUCKING GAME! when playing this you can FEEL the love and care put into this masterpiece. From the charming characters you get to paint yourself, to the pages of lore and audio dramas, to the intuitive way the game controls. Everything within the game indicates a level of care most games don't get these days, especially from larger developers. Unfortunately none of that means anything when no one even realizes the game exists, and those who do are so few and far between they can't even find a reason to keep playing it. I understand the Subnautica devs were able to find success without investing into a huge marketing effort by having independent content creators shoulder the burden, but that strategy can't work with a game that requires a substantial player base for new players to jump in and start playing.
I love this game, I love it for it's own merits, I love how it can serve as a bridge for new players to get into the genre, and I love it for what little time I was able to spend with it. But I can't afford that same sort of praise to it's creators. I won't praise them for making a great piece of art and refusing to make sure anyone even saw it. I implore you, play this game, get all your friends to play it, there is no way I can not recommend it, just know that you'll be one of the only people who will.
From what I can tell the developers have abandoned the game, and the only way to bring it back is for the community to make it happen. Unfortunately this game never had a community to begin with.
Some promising mechanics but the multi-player game seems dead and the single-player mode has little-to-no depth. I mainly picked it up because of the Brando Sando involvement but I'd suggest just picking up one of his books instead.
cool game :)
Uhm, no.
Paint miniatures is awesome, A+ voice work, wonderful systems, lotta love here.
Would be criminal if I didn't recommend
