The game offers satisfying customization, stunning visuals, and rewarding tactical gameplay, where every match feels like a cinematic showdown. However, it’s also brutally unpredictable—just when you think you’ve mastered the game, an unexpected counter or random twist will wipe out your efforts. Sometimes, even the best strategies can’t save you from bad luck or an opponent’s perfect move. While the game is endlessly engaging, it’s also frustratingly tough, reminding you that you’re never truly in control. It's thrilling, but be prepared for those gut-punch losses.
Very cool game. Can't think of anything negative tbh. Maybe they can find ways of adding some variations to maps, that is about it.
great game, love the 2v2 with my buddy and now the 2v2 tournny.
devs are constantly doing updates and balancing
This is kind of my first experience with auto-battlers, and I have to say I really dig it. The gameplay is simple enough to learn as you go, but deep enough that there always seems to be potential for new and interesting tactical choices. It's also one of the few games I have where you can sit down for fifteen minutes and actually have a full game play out in an interesting way. If you're looking for a game that can keep you engaged with fun mechanics and minimal hand-holding, this is a damn good one.
1.3 Update made changes that made that made the game feel longer and less interesting
awesome game over all, basically robot chess with some RNG. a few hundred hours i can tell you it has one single flaw. the hacker units ruin the game. top tier hot garbage unit only used by the weak. if you use them i hope hope your hot pockets are eternally cold in the center and cant find the strange smell in your car.
Dope futuristic auto-battler with multiple game modes, great visuals, and an amazing variety of units, abilities, and tactics.
There's lot of great things to say about this game, but I'll keep it short.
In its essence, Mechabellum is a fantastic PvP Strategy game, where each match requires a different strategy. What sets it apart is that it does not require the stressful multitasking and APM that RTSs do. Instead, Mechabellum is also an Auto Battler, but reduces RNG to a minimum. Each round you and your opponent are provided with exactly the same options, so it is completely up to you to outsmart your opponent.
Each round you can only place a limited amount of units, each having their own distinct role. Once placed, a unit can no longer be repositioned in later rounds (with rare exceptions), so you have to really think about how to position your units to build a frontline and a backline.
Certain units can counter certain other units by design, so you can prepare and surprise and overwhelm the opponent at the right time. But you always have to keep your board composition and possible counters by the enemy in mind!
A very nice game overall! For now, it is ruined by one Unit - Raiden! Unless it massively reworked, all you need to do is spam raidens! Very balanced./
Unfortunately, this game is unplayable for me due to a widely reported but still unresolved server issue that has been happening for ~5 months at time of writing. I am unable to load any online match (or even the Store content) and get a unstable connection > reconnecting loop that prevents me from joining any games, navigating any menus, or even closing the game without a force quit. The devs have rarely responded to posts about this issue in the forums, and their responses have generally been 'Try the game again after each patch and see if it's fixed'. It is disappointing to see a $15 game become totally unplayable after ~65 hours, but I guess I got my money's worth so they can keep it.
When I was able to play the game earlier in it's life-cycle, I enjoyed it quite a bit, even if the unit balance was mixed and the same handful of units clearly overpowered everything else. I hear from other players that the new units are fun and balance is improved significantly, but I wouldn't know, as I haven't been able to play a match since September.
It's a formalized tug of war game. It doesn't have the variety of the various WCIII/SCII maps that do the same thing but the design has solid and it's put some thought into how to make that basic setup more interesting
I am hooked on a game again after a long time. This is brilliant. If you like mecha/sci-fi style battle this is really good. Do not need high APM and full of strategic choices. A bit of random factor and balance issues do exist but that is true for all games.
Autobattler with Mechs, not expensive and a lot of balance patches with new units.
Beyond MMR 900, the game's started to feel like a chore. You have to memorize all the counters, the interactions, the techs, the strats... I get how fun it can be once you've learned everything, but it's a big barrier to entry. I wish it all came more organically cause I mostly found it tedious and frustrating.
If there is a better auto battler out there I haven't come across it.
Looks great, plays great, the strategy is pretty simple to understand but can run deep with unit customizing and formations.
Hoping to see more unit types and abilities in the future.
NERF MELTING POINT!
As someone who likes the idea of RTS games but gets overwhelmed by the actual experience, this game is perfect for me. It has the deep tactics and mind games of a good strategy game, but gives you time to breathe and think. The $15 price tag is ridiculous value for a game of this caliber.
If I had to say something negative, it does chug in later rounds when there are a ton of units and projectiles flying across the board, but it's not something that bothers me and I've only had one crash in 70 hrs of play.
I love this game and I'm really wishing the developers success.
Very fun, very addicting, easy to learn yet difficult to master. I feel relaxed yet entertained playing it. The only bad thing i can say, is that it becomes very meta-heavy above a certain level.
Really enjoyed my first few moments in this game. I have encountered no technical issues, and despite reading about how chat was a bit wild I have not actually encountered this. I intend to play this a lot more in the coming days. I specifically like the strategy and unit tactics being applied a competitive but low APM game loop, this lets me design and iterate on strategies and actually execute on my plans in match.
Great game, fun with friends or solo. great rewards with an interesting store page. passively earning store points that you can use to buy cosmetics.
Very nice game. Unit design, the different ways to tech the units, the balancing, overall look and feel of the game. I like it a lot.
Music could be better.
fun auto battler, better with friends. its a complicated game of rock-paper-scissors
I cannot recommend this game as long as the "There is an error in your data" error in 4 player brawl still remains unfixed.
Best strategy game on the market currently.
Removes pressure in real time.
Game feels balanced and not too random.
To me it's a chill and improved version of Starcraft.
It's a good time killer if you need something to play while listening to a podcast; however the multiplayer is very meta. It seems like everyone I go against uses the same meta units (like melting point). Maybe focus on adding new abilities or re-balance some of the units.
Would I recommend, yes and no.
The game is very nice, it has a good competency behind unit design, the concepts are super creative, and for the most part, it is balanced. For the most part.
This game, for being really big on strategy and competency, has a super LARGE rng element to it that will occur in between EVERY single round, and most of the time, the rng only favors one player, not both. The player it does not favor, the game will become super unforgiving and will literally give the game to the opponent whether it be the early rounds or the late rounds. The game also has a curve to it that if you fall behind your opponent within the right circumstances or your starting unit composition just is not favorable, you stand absolutely 0 chance of winning unless rng gives you a bone.
The few places where it is imbalanced, it is severely severely imbalanced. The devs also make large changes and inclusions into the game without really considering how these changes effect all other aspects of the game. For an example, the game has two types of RNG at play, and only one will occur between rounds. One is Unit drops, where the game will drop you a unit, often times only favoring one of the players. The other is ability cards and spells, these can effect how certain units behave completely or offer super large area of effect abilities that can range from nukes to super massive EMPs. Now imagine you lower the rate of one of these types of RNG without ever doing anything to change how often game changing abilities will show up in the RNG. Suddenly now you have super massive game altering and expensive abilities dropping almost every other round. That's exactly what happened here in Season 2 of the game.
The worst thing honestly about this game is how often balance is applied. You see, the developers are SUPER slow at putting forth balance changes unless the content creators cry and moan a lot about particular things persistently, and even then it seems they are still slow at doing that. Changes to all aspects of the game occur maybe once a month to be generous, but it feels more accurate to say maybe every 35-45 days. The game's playerbase is not exactly diverse in playstyle either, despite there being many ways to play the game, everyone seems to lean toward a particular style of play or copying content creator strats. The game is fun when you're in the lower brackets or are simply playing around with friends to have a good time, but if you're looking to get into this competivitely, expect the matches to eventually become very monotone and static, often involving the same repetive strategies and just praying the RNG in between rounds happens to favor you more than your opponent.
Yes, it is a strategy game with a great concept, but the flaws that are there impact the game significantly.
I am not going to really go into chat as well, it is completely unmoderated and unhinged.
the game is fun but the game also randomly decided to ruin that fun. it makes you want to quit and it happens so much you stop caring. find a better game to put your time into
This game is amazing, one of the best autobattlers out at the minute.
It combines all of the great features from all of the most popular Autobattlers.
Pro's
- Positioning Matters
- Create unique builds via Tech upgrades
- RNG upgrades & Free Units between rounds and both players have the same choices allowing for stategic predictions & counterplay
- Ranked System - (MMR number)
- Unit customization - Visual & Gameplay
- Great Community
- Great visuals & stylish cinematic battles

Cons
- Ingame shops leaves a lot to be desired, I would love to see more skins & customization options to give my Army my own unique identity
- I would also like to see further customisation through unlockable tech options
- I would like to see more units be added over time to avoid the game becoming stale and to disrupt meta's.
- Seasonal Ranked system with Distinguished leagues
It is a game of countering the opponent's army. Lots of fun, and a cool card game element is put into the mix. Sometimes wins can feel lucky, and opposite for losses, but most of the time it is possible to trace the reason for winning/losing in the replay video.
This game is easily one of the best strategy auto battlers ive ever played. Its easy to get into and have fun, but its also very deep and it feels like the different viable strategies you can use are endless.
Highly recommend.
The game is really worth a try. However, I had to stop playing it. The thing is, the random reinforcements steal the satisfaction from beating the opponent. It is one thing when you are constantly losing; you can get better, pick a good strategy or two. But it is frustrating when you see a drop and understand that you had luck this time and will obliterate the opponent 80% of the time. I understand this feeling when I'm playing Holdem, but here it feels more like spinning a slot machine. I tried to check guides and saw the same situation: the better a player is, the earlier they understand what drop they need to wait for. The whole game becomes about picking a specialist and praying for specific reinforcements.
Still, the game is good. Just play it like a deck builder, not as a strategy game, or you will be disappointed.
Super enjoyable to play both competitively and purely for fun. Huge variety of units, techs and battlefield abilities allow vast flexibility with how you approach each battle. There are less balanced meta strategies at higher MMR like in every competitive game, but regular balance patches and new units shake things up regularly.
Honestly, just a great game. If you like games of this kind, theres no reason to think twice. Only thing I could attack is that theres not a giant lot of content, but thats solvable.
Very fun game! Wish it was a bit more popular. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to get into a match.
The tutorials aren't super helpful. I recommend watching a youtube tutorial. Very strategic. Kinda like a board game. So far, I really love this game!!!
Pros: scratches that itch, fun, casual, can play other games while playing!!, difficult with a extremely high skill cap, think chess but with you can customize each piece and you fight by building a board "more better" than the opponent. The cons: can be difficult if iq low, there are "metas" but honestly theres so many ways to beat them. idk i love the game obviously. you might too. If you like starcraft/command and conquer community projects and wave based rts mechanics. its probably a no-brain buy.
Great game. Shines as a co-op for 2v2 as well.
Some balance issues exist, but honestly, there are many hours of gameplay here before you get to noticing it and being affected by it.
It is just an amazingly, fun turn-based strategy game. It helps that I like big robots.
Been playing since the beta and love it (too much, actually).
There are some pretty obvious quality of life things that can be improved (replay navigation, etc.), but overall a great game, especially considering how cheap it is.
10/10 great game to play, its always different
Its good fun, well balanced, no lag issues, units and strategy are cool. You can go low effort, casual and memey or super sweat and its all still good. Has so many niche features that even AAA games dont have.
Chat is the only real issue, lots of 'unpleasant' people in a global uncensored chat, and after the game when you try and say gg to opponent, is just an inconsistent mess
The first auto-battler that I've liked. With each round playing off the previous round, the feedback to strategy is immediate. With upgrades, the strategy is flexible - upgrading a unit to have shorter range turned the tide of the battle in one game. There is meta-strategy with choosing which potential tech upgrades to bring into the match. The graphics are great, and run fine on my mid machine. Betting on who will win other peoples matches is fun, but flexing by betting on yourself is even better.
The unlocking of cosmetics doesn't add much to the game, but doesn't hurt.
Bought it because the idea of a competitive strategy game with fast rounds, no micro, and chess-like balance seemed appealing. Also, giant robots are cool.
I thought I would just spend a few hours playing singleplayer skirmishes.
Eventually I transitioned to online play and now my Steam library is completely dominated by this amazing game that continues to develop and grow even after release <3
I hate it but also I love it, it's the best game ever made, it is the worst feeling ever when you lose because you have no one to blame but yourself. It's the perfect game, I hate/love it.
Rock paper scissors but also there are stormcallers. Please remove stormcallers because they are dishonorable. Many have said the Mustang is the most powerful unit in the game, breaking the rock paper scissors cycle. However, the opponent can then build more flamethrowers and win the game.
Great Game, it is really fun and i really like to play!
BUT: What is really annoying are the performance issues. On a AMD 5600G and 4060Ti i get ~10fps a few minutes in the game with game settings on really low. GPU and CPU are at about 30%.
The Game is just really poorly optimized. UI and UX people would cry if they saw the main menu.
Great game. Some bugs on steam deck. Needs balance updates to really shine.
I'm not usually a fan of auto battlers, but Mechabellum replaces much of the typical "re-rolling until you get what you need" with a huge amount of strategic and tactical depth. The community is very nice and positive as well.
Retired amateur SC2 player. This scratches the strategy itch in a chill way. Suggestions for devs: 1) A setting to modify round setup time so when my buddies and I are playing we can talk a bit more. 2) Some unit building hotkeys
The best game seriously so far for strategy in 2024, plus we have constant upgrades and new units, and the developers don't force as it as a shitty dlc or paywalls, those are free. No DEI shits or anything, plain fun where the Mechs kill each other in high graphics. It's challenging like you are playing chess with mechs.
It's like TFT but with robots and the shop isn't random. Surprisingly Deep Tactics. I enjoy it. Also has 2v2 and 4 player free for all, and a single player thing you can do.
8.75/10, Can always use more units and robot types and stuff, but it feels pretty focused and there is decent variety. Soundtrack is functional but forgettable, I muted it after a day or two for my own music. I also Wish games lasted a bit longer sometimes, just 2 or 3 more turns, You can get smoked pretty fast and Sometimes you build the perfect army up and then you win and you barely get to enjoy it. But, I do enjoy that games are pretty consistently 10-20 minutes. FFA is more like 20-30. You don't need to control anything when the actual fight is happening, so if you are confident you can go get a snack while they do their thing, which I also enjoy. I got it on sale for like $10, but I would say its worth at least $20.
Overall fun, Robots go Pew Pew
Auto battler with unit xp instead of merging units. Keeps getting new fun content and frequent balance updates. It's a lot of fun to try to counter you enemy in new and whacky ways.
