About the Game
Game contain In-Game PurchasesDEAD OR ALIVE 6 is fast-paced 3D fighting game, produced by Koei Tecmo Games, featuring stunning graphics and multi-tiered stages that create a truly entertaining competitive experience.
[Introducing the DOA Series]
The DEAD OR ALIVE franchise is a AAA fighting game series produced by Koei Tecmo Games' Team NINJA. Composed of fast-paced 3D fighting games that began with the original DEAD OR ALIVE arcade game in 1996, and have since appeared on a multitude of consoles and arcade machines around the world. In DEAD OR ALIVE 6, the world of DOA is brought back more vibrant than ever, featuring both enhanced visuals and an updated combat systems, aimed to provide the highest possible level of new fighting entertainment.

[Story]
The story will follow the events of DEAD OR ALIVE 5, focusing on 2 separate main narratives; namely, the battle between “Ninja and DOATEC” versus “M.I.S.T. lead by Donovan”, and the events that occur during the 6th DEAD OR ALIVE Tournament. New side story episodes will also be added for returning characters.

[The New Visuals]
With the help of a new graphics engine, DOA6 aims to bring visual entertainment of fighting games to an entirely new level. The graphics are made to be both enticingly beautiful and realistic, bringing out enhanced facial expressions, such special effects as depiction of sweat and dirt on character models, and realistic hit effects.

[The Triangle System]
Following the tradition, fights in DEAD OR ALIVE 6 are based on a triangle system: strikes beat throws, throws beat holds, and holds beat strikes. Landing a well-timed attack of the type that beats your opponent’s attack, like landing a strike when an opponent tries to throw, will result in a Hi Counter attack and do more damage.

[New Combat Mechanics - Break System]
In this new title, we are introducing a new Special Move Gauge (Break Gauge) to the DEAD OR ALIVE series, adding a new dramatic strategic element to the fights. This element is made to be accessible and easy to use even for people who are new to the world of fighting games, and is activated by simply pressing the [RB] button.
[Break Blow]
A strong, high-damage special move that knocks your opponents down. The first part of the move also parries incoming attacks, working as both an offensive and defensive move!
[Break Hold]
A convenient counter technique that can also be used while the player is heavily stunned. It should only be used in tight situations due to its light-damage output.
[Fatal Rush]
A powerful combo with a dramatic finishing move, activated by consecutively pressing the [RB] button. While it is made to be easy to use for beginner players, it can also be employed in more than one creative way by the experienced competitors.

[New Danger Zones]
[Rumble Danger]
If knocked into onlookers, they will push the player back into the center of the stage. It is a trap that combines the atmosphere of a real street fight with strategy.
[Mass-Destruction]
If the opponent is knocked back into a large stack of boxes or barrels with a “Break Blow” or ”Fatal Rush” it will cause a large chain-explosion. This will lead to a huge burst of damage and produces an exhilarating rush.

game wont even fucking work
Play it on my Steam Deck and it's run great. I hope KOEI will do the correction of the graphic, character clothes floating. It pass through anywhere look annoying since the the latest of all DOA series.
Is work good
amazing
Its a good fighter. Story is kind MMPH but I am loyal.
Just coomed 7 times in 5 hours. This game is NOT good for my balls
Also a pretty good fighting game too, I guess
The game is very nice if you like to main female fighters. The dlc though, is what makes this game great.
I like DOA fighting mechanics, but this game is too cringe. The game doesn’t look too good and sexualization and monetization are excessive. Story mode is uncomfortable to play and navigate. Moreover, cutscenes are cringe and laughable. At the very least, characters should be more natural and there should be more content included in the base game.
My lovely series!
Dead or Alive 6 (DOA6) is a good game that was let down by its short support of only a year before it was abandoned by Koei Tecmo, following the "Core Values" PR disaster. Regardless, it is still a fun fighter although somewhat lighter on gameplay features/content/roster compared to past entries in the series.
In terms of system mechanics, DOA6 introduces a meter system, a new stun state (Fatal Stun) and an auto-combo-like feature (Fatal Rush). The meter system is used for sidestep attacks, Break Holds (a type of hold that will counter any high/mid/low attacks) and Break Blows (a powerful move that can be used when the meter is full). I do find the game to be less technical compared to its predecessor, Dead or Alive 5 Last Round (DOA5LR), which is great for me since it's also more beginner friendly. There's a lot of nuances in DOA5LR concerning the heights when you launch an opponent into the air, which affects juggling and are non-existent here. Personally, I've had a lot of fun labbing and figuring out combo routes.
The game has the following modes: Story, Arcade, Versus, Survival, Time Attack, Free Training, Tutorial (for system mechanics), Combo Challenge, Command Training (for learning move inputs), DOA Quest (a new mission mode for earning currency with one-time rewards) and DOA Central (for wardrobe, music customization, etc). Unfortunately, Tag fighting is a major omission in DOA6 which was a staple feature in past entries. There is also noticeably lesser costumes to unlock, with many of them being color variations; also, fewer and less interesting stages compared to past entries. There are a few noteworthy improvements from DOA5LR in the form of improved Free Training mode, ability to designate BGM to stages and create predefined costumes/title loadouts (up to 10 slots). Sadly, compared to DOA5LR, the input display in DOA6 no longer indicates whether the inputs hit high/mid/low and there's also no option to display persistent move lists on screen for ease of reference - nevertheless, all the negatives pointed out didn't ruin my enjoyment in any way. If unlocking stuff is a major thing for you, then you may wish to take note that DOA6 has a pretty garbage unlock system which requires that you first unlock a costume by earning pattern points that fill up the costume parts gauge for a random costume and then purchasing it using in-game currency (player points) on an unlocked costume. Sadly, it can become very grindy to get the costume you want (due to RNG) and DOA Quest missions only provides a one-time reward. If you have exhausted the missions, you can only unlock pattern points in Arcade, Survival and Time Attack modes. Titles unlock as you play the game but majority of them require purchasing after unlocking.
In terms of presentation, the graphics look good, though not necessarily better than DOA5LR imo. The colors are more vibrant, better lighting and character textures have a more porcelain shine to them (while DOA5LR has an overall softer feel). I certainly like the music better in DOA6 compared to DOA5LR and there are some pretty catchy tracks like "Ontology", "The Zen", "With The Goddess" and "Cold Punishment". And like DOA5LR, there are no new character themes but the ones from earlier entries are unlockable after you've played the respective characters enough (there is a superfluous character level system which these unlocks seem to be related to).
Performance-wise, the game starts up relatively fast on an HDD, runs great without framerate drops on my RTX4060 and I've not experienced any single crashes at the time of this review.
Overall, DOA6 is a really fun 3D fighter with enough in the package that I would recommend. However, I recommend only getting it when it's on sale since it has already reached a new low of 85% and will require you to get more character DLCs to complete the roster. As for myself, I bought the Deluxe Edition (at 85% off) for "With The Goddess ~Club Mix~" included in the Deluxe BGM set. If you have to choose between this or DOA5LR, the latter is hands down a better value proposition - though Mai isn't available for purchase anymore in DOA5LR. Both games do offer a "Core Fighters" version which is free to play, so you can install both and compare which one you like better in terms of presentation and system mechanics. Personally, I don't think DOA6 is necessarily better than DOA5LR, vice versa, and I appreciate that they are different enough for me to hop between them from time to time.
PERFETTO
A very fun game
Fantastic game for jiggly wonders! Do not buy the DLC skins! Use mods instead which are free and better!
Maybe im missing something but i dont get the story mode AT ALL.
ive played the other DOA games growing up and i loved the long story mode to get good at playing a character and to unlock some cinematics at the end and have their personal story. This game just seems to lack that? the story is all mixed up where you seem to have to switch characters to unlock very little cutscenes or story material. I dont get it at all.
all in all it feels like a DOA game without the heart and soul and with more clothes lol
been playing doa since a kid, still love it,especially doa 6.
good game
this game is very good
It is 9:49pm on a Monday night. I had recently purchase a fight stick and started playing Virtua Fighter Revo. I really like the game and playing it feels nice. I play as Sarah Bryant which was my dads character back in the day in the arcades. Well skip forward in time its 2001 and I got a playstation 2. Some of these games were DOA2 Ultimate. I fell in love with this fast pace fighting game. Skip forward the Xbox came out and my brother got it. Part of the bundle was DOA3. We played the hell out of this game. Skip again 2005 DOA4 was one of the first releases in the year. I got it. earned all the outfits and played online. It was so much fun!
Skip many years, I am on the ps4 now and I find out that DOA5 came out, but it's not a full game. It's a free version and everything is very expensive. Not like I remember it. I played the core fighters version of the game and was turned off.
Skip to today. I have my fight stick I mentioned earlier and I saw that there was a sale for KT. I went and looked and saw DOA6 for sale. I thought hmm that's the newest one. Let me try it. I bought the game plus all the season pass. $110 in all.
I just spent an hour playing the game and I am going to give you my entire feeling on this game.
Somehow, the feeling I had from playing the first three games (2,3,4) was lost. There are a lot of new characters which is always fun. There is this new mechanic where you can store energy or something for power attacks and combos. It feels like a TEKKEN kinda of game now.
Anyways the graphics look dated, the combat while smooth as always feels interrupted by these power scene combo moves. The costumes are not as cool as I remember. Maybe I didn't get that many, it said I had 333 dlc options, but what were they?
We'll I have decided that I am going to stick with Virtual Fighter 5 REVO and refund all the DOA6 content I got.
I didnt check the online portion, but from what I read. There is no one playing online, but there are on VF5REVO.
good
came for the funny jiggle physics, stayed for the gameplay
I really don't get the hate on this game...
It runs great on my i7 10700k & 1080ti (even when I limited the power to only 50% on my 1080ti, so it should run great even on an rtx 3050 6gb!)
It has a lot of DLC sure... but you don't have to buy it! It's only cosmetics which is a waste of time anyway.
The game has a demo & I encourage people to at least test it out.
Overall - 8/10 I've only played the game for a bit but I'll update it later if anything bad pops up
si eres gooner juegalo
pero terminaras enamorandote de ryu hayabusa un crack juegen ninja gaiden
The DLC practices are absolutely abhorrent, but the kicking and the punching is pretty good.
The game is unplayable! Even though I have a good graphics card (RTX 960) and an Intel Core i7, I can’t play it. If the app manages to open, the FPS drops drastically.
Great game, love it. One of the best 3D fighters out there and with superb graphics. Lots of difficulty settings to fit everyone.
dlc the game
Nice fighting game, great for a break from Tekken or just beating up your friends.

you would think that a deluxe edition would include all the dlcs, but noooo this game is doo doo garbage and only adds costumes that are basically color swaps
Doesn't work without a controller? I refunded
This game is definitely a lesser version to DOA5 but its still a good game in alot of ways the meter system sucks for sure and the real sidestep/evade being locked too a button is really uncanny when you can still use the fore and background to walk into just to get clipped by moves that arent even homing lol, but outside of those things it still offers the same DOA depth as the rest but just some missing characters from the last game that really couldve used a spot but Great game better then the other new gen games just needs rollback
The best fighting game to date!
don't listen to the haters, game is solid, most costumes you can unlock without paying real life money, combat is great, yes even with the special attack stuff, it's fresh, fluid and satisfying, i don't play online but from what i hear it's mostly dead, bc of the initial hate and the tainted image it left, go play the demo and change your mind
it's dead or alive
came for the goon, stayed for the mechanics.
matchmaking is fairly populated too
good
After not touching a fighting game for over 10 years, this and SF6 have gotten me back into them. I grew up with SC, so I have gravitated more towards DoA than SF. I literally couldn't care less about all of the costumes. Hot take, they look really silly and out of place. There is a way to do sexy well, these costumes aren't it. They feel lazy and cheap (some are literally just bra and panties/swimsuits, how boring).
So I've just bought the extra characters so I can main Mai, and I'm as happy as can be. Ranked mode is still active somewhat. I haven't had that hard of a time finding matches while in training mode. Seems to be most active in the morning on the US east coast. You might have to deal with some bad connections to get a match sometimes though.
The combos feel great and look great. The maps and their multi-stages are super fun to fight in and add a layers of complexity since the dangers can do some massive damage. Game looks beautiful btw in 2025. Vibrant and lively. The fighting is easy to start out with as a new player with story, quest, and tutorial modes. You don't even need to touch ranked until you want to, so take your sweet time learning.
its a good game, its just that the online is pretty much dead, but it can be enjoyed offline too.
Solid product minus full price and lack of skins/colors in the base game.
Every character only has 2 colors and 1 skin unless you pay for DLC.
Get Tekken or Soul Calibur instead. If you LOVE those then come and give this a try on sale.
Also if you don't think your PC can run Tekken, this could be the answer for you.
It's a simpler Tekken (movelist, combo length, stances) that's slightly less controller friendly.
Some combos also felt harder to do as far as timing goes compared to Tekken which has a fun and floaty juggle system.
Lastly Tekken is much more popular with a bigger community, more active online, and the potential to go pro.
The gameplay is the best i've ever seen in a fight game, the fight animations are stylish as f*ck. The character design is way above the average. But, have in mind, the multiplayer is dead.
I like Christie
It's a fun fighting game. It moves fast to the next fight when the old one is done. The graphics are well done. In the missions, the help section is automatically available for the exact move you need to master. All in all it is fun.
DLC: The Game.
tis good
the game is pretty cool and I loveeee the graphics but I just find it kinda sad that the majority of ppl who play this game are just disgusting horny dudes and I also don’t like the fact that all the female characters are extremely sexualised. Other than that, the game itself is great. I find it entertaining and enjoyable, it’s really beginner friendly aswell
Competent 3D fighter for those new to Dead or Alive. It's fun with its Virtua Fighter DNA very much intact, however, it's nowhere close to being the best DoA. (That title goes to DoA 2/4/5.)

- If you want the full game, the best bet is to get the Base game/Deluxe edition that also fetches you the story mode.
- Crave an experience closer to classic DoAs for more skill-based play? Grab DoA 5: Last Round (LR for short) - it's also more content rich. Get it on PS4/XBox as the PC version lacks a couple features and a few joysticks have issues mapping shoulder buttons.
- Funny how Team Ninja thought making this less deeper than the other DoAs and removing content + mechanics would appeal to the esports crowd, in addition to the "censorship".
- Second time where Team Ninja goes out of their way to fix what didn't need to be fixed. (After ruining 3D Ninja Gaiden post Itagaki.) Stop being embarassed about your IPs. I get it if this were the beach volleyball nonsense, but this is DoA...show some respect.
- DoA never had nudity/sexual content. Modders and some horny little sh*ts gave it the "reputation".

Positives
+ Possibly the most generous free version of any game ever with the "Core Fighters" edition.
- The chief reason why this review is positive. (Also lead to my purchase of the full game in order to show support. It would be cool to get DoA 7 after Team Ninja learns from this.)
- This version lets you play every single tutorial plus all offline modes with 4 characters, a ton of DoA quests with multiple characters, and even lets you go through the Story Mode quite a bit. No time limits, no abrupt stops, no annoying popups to buy full version, no extra account required. Seriously, no fuss, no muss!
+ Fantastic presentation without the boring-a$$ Unreal Engine
- Gorgeous visuals, pleasing UI, and enjoyable soundtrack.
- The game runs perfectly and the controls are as slick as they need to be.
- Signature fast-paced combat with the DoA triangle: strikes vs. holds vs. throws. (Besides the [slightly buffed] side-step.)
- Costumes are still unlockable through gameplay. Just not as many, because paid DLCs...eww.
+ Exhaustive tutorial system that teaches you pretty much all you need to know
- DoAs have always had fantastic tutorial systems providing technical battle info fit for the pros. That includes frame data...without having to pay extra for it. (FU, Tekken 7.)
- The new DoA Quest is a nice mode to fine-tune your understanding of the mechanics. The game even recommends tutorials based on your performance. Not bad at all!
+ Online activity and community support
- Don't think the Online modes utilize rollback netcode, but the matches work well.
- Fans keep making overhaul/balance mods for the game like with DoA 6++. Very much appreciated!
+ Ryu Hayabusa
- The legendary Master Ninja is still a part of the base roster.
- Surprisingly still advanced af, and he's S-tier, as he should be!
Negatives
- Numerous feature removals, chiefly on the offline side.
- No tag matches. Used to be one of the main draws as no other 3D fighting game has this...now it's gone!
- Removing ^^ as an option to side dodge is dumb. Now it's ^+HPK and does not help with building Virtua Fighter muscle memory.
- No character-specific tutorial sections like in DoA5. You would know how to deal with let's say, Mariposa from the tutorials, now you can't.
- Stages are more straight-forward with less complexity plus visual variety. At least they still have environmental interactions, so there's that.
- Mash-friendly with the break gauge that recharges fast and resets every round. Wait, this Shimbori guy went to Tekken 8 to ruin the balance with the Heat System...lol!
- Break hold: If you choose to use, eliminates the skill required to do proper directional holds by using a single button.
- Break blow: Your super move. Like the Critical blow (1P+K) in DoA 5, but easier to pull.
- Fatal Rush: Oh yeah, what's a modern fighting game without one-button autocombos?! (Can be turned off.)
- Story Mode and fewer characters in base roster
- Lackluster at best. This plot was already used a couple times in the same series...come on now!
- No Virtua Fighter characters like with DoA 5: LR. Booooo!
- Seemingly endless amount of paid DLCs. Someone actually made a steam guide for it ha!
- Do I even have to touch on this? Ugh...ok, there are so many darn DLCs like 461 that the Steam store page has to open a different page to show them all.
[*] Meaning, you could easily spend over 450 USD if you want all the DLCs. Pretty much all cosmetic trash. Get character DLCs on sale, if you'd like. There are 6 paid character DLCs + Phase 4. Phase 4 also comes as a part of Digital Deluxe.
Aside from the game's large assets, DOA6 is a genuinely fun and well made fighting game. It's unfortunate it's not taken seriously and the online playerbase is pretty much non existent now
Its a fun albeit unserious game. very easy to pick up
gutes kampfspiel
