May is a yaoi Visual Novel with extremely mild sexual content.
I wasn't sure what to expect when playing this game as it has very few reviews during the many years it's been submitted to Steam. The reviews did look promising so I decided to play this, well they were mostly right! The game starts out somewhat lighthearted, but the deeper we delve into the emotive side of things, it takes a darker turn... that's just how I like my Visual Novels though! The game has 4 different routes and 2 bonus chapters (which are short), assuring you get every outcomes possible of the story and end on a good note (the bonus chapters are unlocked only when you finish the 4 base routes.)
The graphics are really, really nice. I do not know if they're assets or not, but if you don't care for that the world of this game is immersive and beautiful. The characters are great, they have well-crafted personalities and I can finally give credits where is due to keeping true to the characters' personalities throughout the whole game. The music is nice though I wasn't personally a fan of the soundtrack, it's a bit too 'ambient' to my liking. The story is just the right length (if a little short perhaps in some parts), clocking in at around 2 hours for a normal-paced and complete playthrough.
I am not a fan of some of the endings, but the plot twists and the dramatic moments are nicely done. The writing is good and the translation is better than most games which are not originally written in English. The game ends on a good note overall and I did not regret playing it whatsoever. It is definitely a surprise to see a game with such a low amount of reviews be this satisfying to play honestly!
Overall, absolutely worth to play through the story!
That was an interesting Visual Novel, not common, deep, troubling heartbreaking, but it's nice to feel. Games should always try to make you feel things even as troubling as grieving. Perfect. Just perfect !!

I wish I could give this game something other than a thumbs up or down. Because overall this wasn't a good or bad experience. But would I recommend it? Not really.
A number of people have pointed out the translation issues. The English ranged from clunky to downright incomprehensible. It kept me from really getting into the game. There are also very few choices, and most of them will lead you to duplicate endings. It has nice art and pretty music. The story isn't bad... it just isn't good either. I don't feel like I want the hours of my life back, but I certainly could have done something more engaging. If you want to waste a couple hours on a bittersweet love story in terrible English, dive right in. Otherwise I'd say pass.
I had just finished reading/playing Heart of the Woods when I started May, and the differences are quite striking. I couldn't bring myself to continue playing for long - the writing seems geared towards people without as much reading experience - early to mid teens maybe. As noted by other reviewers, the translation isn't good. It could certainly be worse, but it definitely doesn't help.
I've read a few really great visual novels over the past year or so. It's a genre I never thought I'd take to. None of the VNs I've played approach something like Anna Karenina or The Wise Man's Fear, but I feel that they bring their own little gifts to the proverbial table. Doki Doki Literature Club, Everlasting Summer, Heart of the Woods, and Lucy: The Eternity She Wished For are among my favorites. I'll keep my eyes open for my next read. :)
For what it's worth, what I saw of the art was lovely (though some of the characters' noses seem oddly-colored), and I thought that the music was serviceable.
The Curse of Badly Localized Visual Novels Claims Another Victim...
Sadly, I can't fully recommend this short Boys Love Visual Novel, therefore my review can pretty much be considered as a neutral one. I still decided to give it a thumbs up because of the touching narrative and the nice artwork. The writing, however, just has too many issues and is obviously in need of both proofreading and editing.
Yun, our protagonist, is deeply concerned about his best friend Max, which got badly injured in an accident and lies in a coma ever since. Yun visits him every day, not only out of concern, or because he is romantically attracted to him, but also because he's able to talk and interact with his friend since Yun has the ability to enter Max's dreams. The only thing Yun needs to do is to fall asleep near him.
There is no obvious clarification as to why he is able to visit the dreams of the comatose Max, but one route explains the circumstances for that, at least, vaguely. The book Yun reads describes that people who are really close to each other are able to enter the other person's dreams, as long as the feelings are strong enough. It's more elaborated in the game, and the book furthermore explains a way to save the person who lies in a coma. The results of that can be witnessed in one ending. Of course, it's up to you if this explanation is satisfying enough or not.

Talking about endings, May has several of them, but none can be considered as happy or even good to begin with, which is quite depressing as you may imagine. Every outcome leaves a bitter taste, there isn't a single ending that makes up for it. You should be aware of this before you give this Visual Novel a try. I do know that there are people that simply can't handle bad endings well if there is no happy end in sight that compensates the reader for suffering. The story ultimately revolves around loss, sorrow, and how to deal with the feeling that you might have only little time left to spend with someone very dear to you. Honestly, this is the kind of story that usually makes me sob like a little girl, but this time I just felt nothing. No tears were shed, and the story touched me only a tiny bit. I'm pretty sure that the cause for that is the bad writing that just kind of failed to get me in the mood to actually care about the characters.

The English translation, or rather the localization, was handled pretty badly. I felt irritation building up while playing May. Don't get me wrong, you can catch the meaning perfectly, but especially if a Visual Novel tries to pull on your heartstrings, which May clearly does, it slightly fails to do that if not a single sentence is written correctly, at least that's what I think. It just makes it hard for me to take the story seriously, and since the story provided here is more heart-wrenching and serious than anything else, the bad localization regrettably ruined every tad of atmosphere for me. Except for the bad translation itself, it is also very confusing when the character names change rapidly between fore and last name, or when they address the protagonist simply as the guy. May's story could be so touching if it wouldn't be for this single, yet deal-breaking issue. I'm very sorry that I mention it so often but it's the sole reason why I couldn't immerse myself into the story, which makes me terribly sad since the storyline alone is absolutely great.
The transition of all seasons in the main menu is really pretty, even if you might don't see much of that since you will most likely finish this game in one sitting, taken how short it is. Nevertheless, it's still a nice feature, which I'd like to point out after complaining so much about the writing. The artwork is surprisingly nice as well, especially if you consider that this title only costs $3.99. The CGs of Yun and his mother when she's trying to comfort him really touched my heart on a level I honestly didn't expect.

You might be able to enjoy May more than me if you think that the localization issues mentioned above won't spoil your experience or if you are a native Russian speaker. Otherwise, I wouldn't really recommend it in its current state. I don't think that the devs are going to hire someone to edit the script, so I don't have much hope that I can change my review into a fully positive one, even if I'd really love to do that.
Team Spieluhr, your work has so much potential, don't let it go to waste, merely because of the lack of proofreading. I know that indie developers often don't have the financial possibilities, but if you do plan to make another Visual Novel, I'm sure that there are at least 1-2 people that would volunteer to help you with proofreading the script, you just need to reach out to them! Especially nowadays, people are actually willing to spend more money on a Visual Novel in exchange for decent writing.

It's a great visual novel filled with depression.
This game depicts the loss of the loved ones.
I had a lot of sympathy with the protagonist.
The overall atmosphere is a pure perfection.
This game surely deserves a positive review.
I was actually moved to tears with this game.
Short version: Oh, those feelings...! <3
Long Version: A truly wonderful game in which the depth of emotion is paramount.
I have to admit that I was often moved to tears and had a lot of sympathy with the protagonist.
Above all, the love of the two men to each other is simply beautiful and also completely realistic, you have been able to believe their emotions and also get to know their character in the course of the game.
For playing different routes you will also be rewarded by the game, where you can see different bonus scenes, which are also designed with a lot of heart.
I have mixed feelings about this story.
Perhaps because it has a poor translation, but I don't really understand why/how the protagonist has the power to enter his friend's dreams while he's in a coma.
Otherwise, it's a bittersweet story between two queer men. It's nice to see this kind of story coming from a Russian developer, as Russia isn't exactly known for LGBTQ+ acceptance.
The artwork is interesting and has many cute/romantic CGs.
I recommend it to yaoi/BL fans, but they definitely need to work on that translation though.

Very flowery and gentle, May is screaming inside, caaling out for those who are ready to listen.
It deeply touches the issues of death, solitude and regret for what could've been done and wasn't.
We all know the feeling of starting to miss something only when we lose it - that's what May is about.
Personally for me it was very relatable, and I guess I won't be the only one for sure. I like how in such a short time this novel covered different forms of affection - friendship, family, love - with very fleeting and warm feeling.
However, do not let the theme scare you - even though this game depicts the loss of the loved ones, it shows a lot of hope instead, just as pumps you up with self-awareness and makes you want to confess or prove your love to those dear to you.
12/10 would cry again.
