The Great War has changed everything. Our dimensions were crushed; our world was shattered... But we have survived...
The world was nearly destroyed by machines from parallel dimension 3000 years ago in a great battle which the ancients called The Rift War. Now what left of mankind lives underground and only with the genes of our commanding Lord Fathers can reach the surface and fight to reclaim our land... They call these people; Strangers.
The Stranger is an Epic Games Megagrants awarded, very intense VR combat game made by 3 people that sets in an incredibly detailed exotic world. You are the Stranger of your generation. You are alone in a hostile world. All you have are your weapons, your protective suit and your courage.

- 15 different types of enemies.
- Beautifully designed and very detailed 12 levels with an average total playtime of 6 hours.

- Fast
- Very fun gameplay
- Great Music
- Story is rather weak
- Would have been awesome if there was multiplayer support
- Nice price
- Totally recommend this.
Actually I didn't expect too much from a game that is so cheap like this but it turned out to be awesome! Great gameplay and balance. The gameplay flows like a river and I loved the graphics. Looks like a AAA game. Will play more and update my review later.
A very simple shooting game despite the (sometimes) beautiful environments.
- enemy models look simple and they all look and behave the same, like seeing clones, they run the same, they dodge the same while having very simple and repetitive attack patterns
- the lasers/rockets of the weapons only appear when far away from the gun
- infinite ammo without the need to even reload feels wrong, you just press the trigger all the time and then point to the enemies
- some textures are blurry, even on Epic.
- snap-turn is wrong because you can rotate only clockwise (using the Y key) ??
I can't recommend this game.
Really good fun. Great music and atmosphere. The game plays out like a journey running through an alien land with waves of enemies spawning. Recommended.
Wow! Some great gameplay here! Pros; great gameplay, fun, addictive, fast with impressive graphics. Cons; a story would be nice and a more atmospheric soundtrack. The music is great but too techno for my taste. Anyway, that's just my idea, the overall mood is great.
for a 2020 vr game its really boring. the game doesn't have any real glitches or anything but its just unintuitive for a vr game in 2020 in 2018 id love it but not now
reallly difficult game maybe im just doing something wrong with that said though its still a really good game cant find glitches plus achievments are a big for me 5 of 5 stars bout to put more time into this one
Its a pretty good game for its price. Its the definition of hop in and screw around for a while without taking it too seriously. I have only one major complaint that I feel could be remedied rather easily, MAKE THE GUNS LOUDER, MAKE GRENADES GO BOOM. Seriously, if the developer is reading this, please add explosions and make the sounds of the guns louder. Let me know that they are there every time I pull the trigger, otherwise it feels like I'm murdering things with a laser pointer.
First impressions: Highly, highly entertaining, fun & easy shooter. Though it would have been perfect if there was any story to follow. After some time, it becomes too repetitive but since the dev team is only 3 people big, it's an understandable situation. Hope they expand this game more in the upcoming patches or DLCs.
Played Serious Sam on my friends place. But this is so much better than SS for controls and gameplay. Cant wait to explore more.
Have AMD system newest drivers
3700x cpu
5700xt gpu
16gb 3200 mhz cl 14 ram
Using a RiftS
I have no Textures just fog and flames but I get menu and 2d cut scene's
As of date for this review I can't recommend it to anyone with same specs.
I had high hopes for this game based on the footage on the store page. And then I played it. Red flags are going off in my head as a badly compressed intro video begins to play in a monitor stapled to head kind of way instead of the scene playing around you, but judging by whatever engine is running this that probably was out of the question. One of the first things I notice once I'm dropped into the world is that it can't seem to know what to render at any given time, textures pop in and out as they pleased. Then I fire the laser gun. There's no animation when it fires. Just a few LED's light up on it, making it look and feel like a cheap toy. The other guns aren't much better, the wrist blade has no impact, but how could they when the enemies simply woosh into existence, and seem to only fire at my feet for some reason. One of the larger enemies had no eye's, not that they were removed in some sick ritual or sewn shut, but rather there was no model there, I can see right thru his head, and I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to do that. Shortly after a few repetitive fire fights I got to the first ammo station and the game crashed. One hard reset later I go back into the game, played for another 5 minutes, got to another ammo station, and the game crashed again. I'm disappointed, but it's fine, I'm getting this refunded. I hope that if the developer see's this that they don't assume I'm just bashing a game. Making games is hard, but a game should be fun to play, and in vr sometimes it takes a lot of little things to make an experience just good, and a lot of things going perfectly to make them feel great. This game feels like an alpha build, that with a lot of work could be good, but in it's current state I would avoid.
So, I'm in map 3 now and not sure why this game is classified as "adventure", because the story seems to be complete redundant.
Despite watching the intro and playing the tutorial I did not know what exactly I was doing, where I was and why I had to shoot those seemingly unrelated enemies.
It's more like a wave shooter and I'm still waiting for the promised "open world" feeling.
All you do in this game is walking from waypoint to waypoint and shooting, but I admit that the movement controls are... different from most games.
I'll update my review in case my impression changes.
Anyway, for a game that has been made by only 3 people it's not bad, so I won't refund.
All in all, this is what I want for a good entertainment. For its price it's full of enjoyment. Loved the graphics, loved the gameplay and loved the very, very easy controls. It would be much better in my opinion if there was a co-op mode. This is not perfect of course. There are some feedback issues, game balance issues and such but devs frequently updates it.
The developers relied on action instead of interactions and for me it works. This is a completely no brainer non stop action which I really, really loved. Unlike others, this reminds me not Serious Sam but Doom with old Unreal tournaments. It is also frequently updated.
Run along a narrow path through a nondescript wasteland, use your weapons with no sights, recoil, hit feedback or ammo limits to hose down the enemies that spawn 20 meters in front of you out of thin air and fling bullets at you that have zero hit feedback either. Repeat until map 3 tanks the framerate to single digits for some reason.
Spent my entire night on this. Very fun and captivating. Giggled like a child every time I launched 5 rockets to a poor dude. Too bad there is not much of a story to follow. It would have been great with these visuals and gameplay. Here is my list:
Pros:
Fun gameplay
Great visuals
Dismemberment. Yeah. Try rockets or flak and see. Spent hours blowing people up:P
Easy controls
Great price
Cons:
Lack of story
Nothing to interact with. No physics. I could bash enemies with my gun but that's it.
Kind of a little repetitive after some time
I recommend this game and the price is more than reasonable.
Fun game...played for 45 minutes and got to the next level. No glitches and no controller issues...ran smooth with no motion sickness. Using Vive pro wireless.
Game play is smooth and flows well. Graphics are ok...slightly blurry in some areas. Game reminds me of Serious Sam or Doom.
For a new release, I think the dev team of three people did a great job...over time I have no doubt that this will be fine tuned and expanded.
Fun, simple and fast. When I cycle through videos I found, nearly no one used the blade. The wrist blade is incredible. I love it. First I launch rockets or shoot with my red Energy Gun. Then I teleport to nearest enemies and kill them with my blade. So much fun! This will be a day routine for me probably. A 30 / 45 min for action everyday.
Couldn't wait more to write my review. The game is flowing. It's just easy as that. Flowing. Yes there are nearly no interactions or physics based puzzles but this is something like Serious Sam or Doom. You just fight non stop in very, very beautiful environments. The music also pumps up adrenaline to my veins.
I played it on Epic and I really don't know how to describe my feelings about the graphics. According to the discussion board, 3 people made this game. Really amazing.
Pros
- Good graphics
- Very fun
- Very easy to play
- Very satisfying weapons and gore
Cons
- Maybe in future patches or DLCs, more interactivity with the environment
Keep up the good work!
