In theory it should be good. Practically I have mixed feelings and I wish steam would finally let you post a mixed review. The game itself is a visual spectacle but the clunky controls and impractical UI make it difficult to enjoy. Example : from a realistic point of view the mechs having weight is a good thing but in a dynamic RTS game it's annoying. This combined with other issues make me not want to finish the campaign.
Really wanted to like that game since the universe and visuals of the game are very nice, alas the gameplay is so janky and lacking in precision I simply cannot enjoy it. Unfortunate.
This is probably one of, if not THE best RTS I've ever played. And that's coming from a person who has to play on minimum graphics because of their potato pc. 7$ for the game + the DLC was an absolute steal. The mechs are probably the best thing about this game, they are just so creative, with really cool designs and animations. The story was suprisingly good, although it doesnt seem to really have a proper end. I cant tell if that is what the devs intended, or if there will be more story updates in the future. It would be nice to have an update to the settings so I can set the graphics even lower to get a better fps, but that's honestly just nitpicking. I highly recomend this game if you are a fan of RTS.
Great game, love the setting, enjoyable story, immersive gameplay, and the best part? You get a Bear friend to go through the campaign with. Here's to hoping more content for it will be released as i really do love this game.
I love this game. This is one of my favorite hidden gems. I play on the steam deck with high settings and it plays great! Get on sale.
The game is a lot of fun. It reminds me of the old c and c days with a good story line and different type of tanks and mechs that arent modern. i enjoyed this more than I had expected to.
For Single player, the game is great, the aesthetic is dark and beautiful and the story is surprisingly good.
Iron Harvest is a breath of fresh air for the RTS genre. It offers a deep and engaging campaign, exciting multiplayer battles, and a visually stunning world. The game's unique dieselpunk setting and giant mechs are a perfect match for real-time strategy fans.
fun game, plays like company of heroes. sale is a steal. campaign is good stuff.
Man, how I slept on this. This is amazing. I am always starved for good RTS games, and this is already looking like something I will enjoy very, very much.
I'm a story player, so imagine my surprise to find a fleshed-out story that touches on the actual horrors and lies of war. What else? Mechs. Hoooo hooooo hooooo do I love the mechs. What does it play like? Company of Heroes, Dawn of War.
It controls reasonably well - though I would really like more movement and formation options, as moving a lot of troops will cause congestion and pathfinding issues. But that takes a LOT of troops. Could be a tiny bit more responsive in the abilities department, but like 95% of it works perfectly. And that's ALL I have to nitpick, this truly is an amazing experience.
On that note: POLANIA! POLANIA! POLANIA! JA PIERDOLE!
Great game. Really nice story and pretty simple mechanics. if youre a fan of alternate history and rts i think youll like this game
Looking for diesel punk theme game? This game got it.
Want to play RTS but don't want to manage your base? This game got it
Game is good. BUUUUT the Multiplayer is utterly fuck ed. No connection possible for ageds now. So if you want to play it with your firneds, lmao nope. And as far as i heard nothing is being done
Bought this for myself and some friends only to find that the game is no longer playable online due to some server issues. Saw one post that suggested using a vpn to connect to a Polish server, this did not work for me and ultimately we should not be expected to pay out for an online service. Game play itself is great, just a shame that I can't fully utilise all the games features
An RTS game that remembers a good story mode is the priority; esports clout is not.
a fantastic game that i have bittersweet memories of playing with friends ill never see again.
i miss you both deeply, even though i shouldnt.
Solid game. Fun campaign with a pretty engaging story. I'm not a classic RTS player and been trying to pick-up the gameplay style a bit more between this and WC3 lately. This players really well and I'm having a ton of fun with it. Recommend if you enjoy RTS or the thematic setting.
The game is fun, but even though I accepted EULA and made sure my cloud was up to date I can't connect online. I haven't had this issue with other games.
Get on sale.
Very reminiscent of squad based dawn of war games, but with a really interesting theme.
I couldn't get into it as much as i wanted to, i think the unit health and focus on 'flank or bust' tactics were dry.
The physics with the cover and destructibility of the terrain are really quite somethin. if have the sandbags
get shot down, 2/5 of your team will be exposed. Sounds obvious but the way you can micromanage your units just slightly makes a big difference on the ever changing battlefield.
6.5/10
sadly, servers are down right now, hopefully they fix it soon, but still, amazing game, really fun
After completing the entire campaign including the DLC's I can say this game for sure has it's pros! The only cons was due to the sudden "here is a wave" and no time to prepare properly, could also be the difficulty I was playing.
I recommend to any players who played Men Of War and Company Of Heroes, can't wait to see what else the developers make!
awesome, fairly easy campaign but probably after all done , will be hard scenarios. spent 24hrs plus on this , and I'm hooked. Will see how the story unfold.
Pretty fun strategy game. Really good story and game play. Would recommend.
I just beat the first campaign in Europe. Well done King Art games.
This game is beautiful. The story is well done with great graphics, voice acting, and cinematic cutscenes. The setting is cool. The mechs are cool and fun, albiet some of the designs are goofy (looking at you Rusviets) but that can add to the setting.
It can be challenging but not opressively so like some RTS games. The units have weight and don't feel disposable. Using tactics is mostly necessary, like leap frogging to defensive positions, setting your units up properly, retreating when necessary and utilizing the 'back up' command for mechs so their rear armor isn't targeted. You don't have a very high population throughout the game so you have to choose how to use it wisely, which makes the game more fun and causes less Zerg rush like tactics.
I can't think of many downsides to the game, except for maybe resource balancing. I never once had issues with resources, even when all the iron and oil factories were taken by the enemies. I've seen some reviews of this game saying that certain aspects were unplayable and units didn't respond properly, this has not been my experience at all. it is frustrating that your units can't take cover behind certain things, but that's just something you have to adapt to, not an error with the game itself.
Overall, it doesn't change the genre but it's a great RTS that is worth checking out especially if you're into big lumbering Mechs like me.
game is ok but I am fed up that I keep getting stuck on loading when I launch the game. I verify my file and then it works directly. next time I launch the game, the game is stuck on loading.
Good for a blat, but by the time I got to the stupidly hard missions at the end, my interest had been sated.
Get game on discount with DLC. Combat a little wonky but still a fun game.
The unit and faction design is almost exactly like Company of Heroes, but rethemed with a Scythe style mecha-steam-punk vibe. That on its own is pretty good, and the game plays ok, but 2 main things let it down:
1. The performance is terrible. No matter what graphics or display options are chosen I get the exact same FPS, which is usually sub-60. It makes playing the game feel like an unresponsive mess
2. There's too much blobbing. That's true for COH, but the game doesn't help you spread the troops out intelligibly when doing a mass-move. Add to this the fact the cover mechanic doesn't get used much here because obviously usable cover seemingly isn't, meaning there's never any green cover when you need it. Plus I don't think yellow cover exists?
Strangely, there's polish in some areas (e.g. map design, graphics, menus) and it does bring some small innovations, e.g. melee and weapon pickup, but in terms of performance, script-writing and voice work its terrible.
Overall it's promising, but I just can't slog through it any more.
Good stuff. Has Command and Conquer vibes with the whole word building and cinematics.
The one thing everyone hates in RTS games: No build missions. This game is full of them. Sometimes three in a row.
LET ME PLAY WITH MY MECHS! I dont want to sneak around with limited infantry.
boring, unbalanced, almost no units, and 4 total buildings to work with.
It's a RTS with mechs in a steampunk WWI style. The story is actually good, and missions are in a wide range of challenging or very easy.
I'm only about 25% through the campaign and would say it's worth the price.
Even though I like the overall concept, the game really lacks control customization and accessibility features that severely hider the experience. I had a lot of fun with my first few hours of the game, but once I got into the larger battles it was fairly difficult to micromanage everything effectively with the current control set.
Great Game!! When will be there an update to the story line? Will Rasputin pay for his crimes?
This game brings me back to the good old days of RTS games, and the aesthetic is brilliant even though it's a bit jarring to not see a single wheeled vehicle anywhere.
The one complaint I have is that the stealth mechanics are terrible. That wouldn't ordinarily be a problem, but there are a handful of missions which are stealth-dependent, so you would think the creators would have put more work into stealth mechanics even if just on those maps.
Solid game, I'm very new to RTS games, I haven't touched one since Age of Empires 2 was on a CD back in the day. This has been a solid re-introduction to the genre and I've enjoyed my time with it. I've mostly been doing Skirmishes, I have dabbled with the campaign, which has been enjoyable as well.
My friend and I picked this up looking for an RTS we could play co-op, and honestly, we’ve been having a blast with it. The art style is super cool, and the WW1 steampunk mech setting just works. The mechs feel super satisfying to use, really punchy and powerful.
The campaign's actually pretty solid too, and we haven’t had any disconnects or crashes, which is a big deal for us. Overall, this game is way better than we expected, and I don’t think it’s getting the credit it deserves. If you’re into RTS games and want something you can play with friends, give this one a shot!
it's really fun(well for me who grew up with RTS's it's really unique)
cant play skirmish with friends, games fucked, online doesnt work
haven't played through the campaign yet but it is a really fun strategy game
Honestly, one of my favorite RTS games I've ever played. I do hope it gets more updates in the future (even more dlc!!...mayhaps a naval one....) but even with the stuff it currently has it's well worth the price. !!wahoo
Worst RTS game i ever seen. cool visuals and unit ideas but the gameplay is an absolute boring dogshit.
Can you guys fix the fucking multiplayer? i've bought the game on sale just to have it for 3 days with no multiplayer jesus christ it's not even that old of a game and you guys let it go for that long with multiplayer issues? fucking awful
Iron Harvest to prawdziwy hit dla fanów strategii czasu rzeczywistego. Kampania wciąga na długie godziny, a różnorodność jednostek i dynamiczna rozgrywka zachęcają do kolejnych prób. Świetna historia i klimatyczna atmosfera przenoszą nas w świat I wojny światowej, gdzie gigantyczne roboty walczą o dominację.
Gra jest niesamowicie intuicyjna, a mechanika rozgrywki prosta do opanowania, ale jednocześnie oferuje głębię i strategiczne wyzwania. Możliwość gry wieloosobowej dodaje dodatkowego smaczku i pozwala na rywalizację z innymi graczami.
Nie mam żadnych negatywnych uwag. Iron Harvest to prawdziwy majstersztyk, który z pewnością przypadnie do gustu wszystkim fanom strategii. Polecam ją każdemu, kto szuka gry wciągającej, pełnej akcji i z głęboką strategią.
Ocena: 9/10
I was eyeballing this game for years. Reviewers kept me at bay.
They are stupid.
This game is an awesome mix of WW1/Mechs/Warcraft 3
I've played RTS a lot and I like the campaign of this game. Must try for other RTS gamers out there.
Wow just wow mind blown this is really such a great RTS experience love the story line and the mechanics of the game defintely would recommend this. Awesome experience
Unfortunately this game is unplayable for me. I got off to a good start and really liked the world building and setting, but the game constantly CTDs and saved games always get corrupted after a CTD occurs. It appears the developer has abandoned Iron Harvest which is quite unfortunate, and Steam rejected my request for a refund prior to exceeding 2 hours of game time because the game being unplayable was apparently not a good enough reason.
Multiplayer has been down since I bought it and no word from the developers about it coming back up
If you are going to buy it to play multiplayer, DO NOT BUY IT!!!!
======================================================
The game is pretty cool, but the company no longer cares about the game and its players.
Several times the game keeps the multiplayer offline for long days until they resolve it.
No, they don't give deadlines or comment on it, just hope for a miracle.
