A very addictive game with excellent story line for anyone who has an interest in these type of hacking games.
seems abandoned.
it's simple, but fun.
Pretty basic game. Very fun and easy to edit the game files so its like u hacked a bank to get more money
Dont edit the game files unless u finished the game...dont ruin it
This is a rlly good game, rlly fun that simulates 90s hacking. Very few tutorials on youtube if you get stuck but the basics are pretty easy to masater. Few minor bugs and crashes but rlly doesnt affect a lot.
Nice and simple game if you wanna feel as a retro Hacker safe in your home.
Its basically a DOS command simulator.
My only complain is you must do lots the same work to gain money for pc update.
Some more DOS commands could be good too.
Recommended during a sale.
It's not nearly as good as Uplink or similar other games.
The DOS environment isn't accurate, and the gameplay is tedious and counter intuitive. If this was a cheap $1 game it'd be fun for some nostalgic vibe, but at its current price I couldn't recommend it.
tl;dr (Pro’s and Con’s below, Tips, Tricks, IP’s bottom)
Pro's
Typical txt based hacking game
Good for newcomers to genre
Interesting main missions
Con's
Heavy reliance on saving emails (Low replay value)
Lacks content
There are two mission in particular that aren't typical grinds or a typing speed test, one involving a chat, and one involving a jail layout. I wish these could have been added as side-missions for $$. Although the chat mission being a light version of the jailbreak, both added tension to the game other than a trace timer reaching 0.
The storyline is alright, but extremely short. Despite it taking me 20 hours to complete the storyline, I could have shaved 10 + hours off if I just KEPT ALL MY EMAILS!!! A majority of the 10ish hours play time is spent grinding and upgrading your rig.
It would be great if this was opened to modding. I'd love to see all the different stories the community could create with the hacking mini-games currently available. At the end, after you finally overcome the bad guy and reached the "endgame", you're left with the same bbs. You don't even unlock a new side missions, programs, or upgrades.
There is Hardcore mode, but with the lack of replay-ability, I doubt I'll ever try it.
Spoilers (blacked out), Tips and Tricks below
Use Up arrow key to cycle back up to a previously executed command - Good for cracking networks
- You don’t have to have admin access to run netscan/netmap Passwords for IP’s don’t change till you must log back into your account
- The fastest missions to grind are:
- changing grades
- changing criminal status
- changing SS status
- changing gov pay
JailBreak mission
- Multiple unlocked doors do not reset mission
- Multiple cameras set “Inactive” WILL reset mission
Step-by-step guide
1) Camera 3 Off: Door 2 Off
2) Camera 3 On: Camera 2 Off
3) Camera 2 On: Camera 5 Off: Door 5 Off
4) Camera 5 On: Camera 4 Off: Door 6 Off **DONE!!!!!**
EMAILS TO KEEP
- thankyou.eml: The IP, if you deleted it, the IP is 181.72.89.235:89
- Bayman's F-U email, can't miss it: If you deleted it 7 letters, starts with D = destroy
Great nostalgic feeling, but some unfixes bugs.
good game at best
It's hard to explain why this game is so seductive for me. Probably it is because the game reminds me of the era when we had no decent games and computer itself was a toy.
It takes about 6 hours to complete the main story, which contains more than just hacking and stealing data, so quite exciting and nostalgic. Ah, since explaining what are nostalgic leads to spoilers, I can't talk a lot about this. Plus, the game has procedural missions that I get a craving for playing sometimes when getting tired of games full of sound and visual effects.
The in-game operating system has command history for only 4 lines and no function of search path. Of course, this means you need to move the current directory before executing programs in the folder. (Wow!) Therefore, I recommend this game only for keyboard addicts or who are planning to be so.
However, all files in the virtual computer are duplicated correctly under your game folder. In other words, you can open emails and documents with your favorite text editor instead of reading them on the console. This is a fairly rare feature that I wish many other games to copy.
When interacting with the computer in a world without sound or color (although the game reproduces the really nostalgic and hard-to-see blur of composite video) and my thoughts go to a man whose life is ruined by my hacking, I feel I understand why hackers of old compare computing to Zen. Yap, I overstated a bit.
Very fun game to bash away on your keyboard.
I play it on my little tablet when I'm out of the house and looking forward to getting deeper into the game.
If you enjoy the style of Uplink like hacking games but really miss the terminal commands you cant go wrong with this one.
even if some "programs" in this game isn't even logical, it's still giving some basic of using a software itself, giving a lot of opportunity to people who didn't understand computer a bit to complete the game.
If only the story were longer enough to give a more complicated program to use, it would be great
Is there anyway to play the game in fullscreen mode? I tried putting "-fullscreen" in the Launch Options but the screen stays black with only my cursor showing.
If you enjoyed Uplink but felt tired of too many mouse clicks and not enough console command typing, this game is for you. There is no GUI here. Just you, a black screen, a command prompt and a (hopefully) trustworthy keyboard. Game is treating you well right from the start, though, by providing you with a "help" command, if you get stuck.
At the time of writing, I'm a little under 3 hrs on record here, but I'm already warmly recommending it.
Nice, addictive, frustrating ... 30 years back in time, memories :)
Thumb UP!

A good game!
A fun text-based hacking game that provides the player with a great blast from the past and a simple interface. Recommended for anyone who played games like Uplink or likes simulation games of any sort.
It also taught me how to use the command prompt for my PC. Also very helpful :)
