not good would not recommend and just so people know i am caught up with one piece
If you're a One Piece fan, you'll like. There are a few mods as well that will make the game better.
Great game, do not listen to bad reviews, if you like One piece you will love this game.
The game takes everything you love about the series, and it lets you become a part of it. I love that the voice actors from the show were all involved, and I love that you get to relive some of the best (and saddest) moments of the show.

Not gonna lie, this game is pretty good, but the combat mechanics are pretty damn crap. Not worth 60€ tbh.
The graphics are amazing, the voice acting is obviously going to stellar, the story is serviceable, Nami and Robins boobs are big, The main problem is the combat just sucks. It's a turn based based game in the same way Minecraft is a survival game, it is so easy it's actually pathetic. The most popular mod for this game, aside from the lewd ones, is a harder mode that more then double the enemies stats and even that is too easy if you know what you're doing. There really is nothing more to it, everything is just average and the combat leaves nothing of value. It's just pick whatever skill does the most damage. They try to make it interesting by making the arena matter and different types of attacks like ranged vs melee but it just doesn't matter because you can legit beat this game by spamming one skill for every single fight. It seems like it just picked all the things that make turn based combat good and mushed them together with a one piece ip in order to actually get anyone to buy it. The gameplay outside of turn based combat is so god awfully slow, it's a walking simulator expect you walk at 1 mph. None of areas or maps really matter, you just use the "open" world to walk between encounters and find chests. None of the areas are complex, the only explore able areas are where the game dares the player to jump on a building or go to the obvious side path to find a hidden chest. It is not an open world at all and you can not traverse it anymore then running and jumping, not that you would want to explore any of it in the first place. The pacing of the combat is also terrible. You have 7 characters to choose from and yet people like Robin literally only gain 6 skills through out the entire game, meanwhile Zoro and luffy end up with 30 different skills that are deal damage but better. You can upgrade skills and equip items like and rpg but it is so surface level. Leveling the skills doesn't do anything but increase damage it just makes spamming the highest damaging skill an even easier way to win. The items are all just stat upgrades with no thought behind it. Give the damage dealer the atk stats give the supports the health stats, baby stuff. You can only play as the straw hat crew which means you only get one healer and 2 supports for the entire game. It's a turn based rpg expect you can only use the same units the entire time and there is no customization in anything, Just get better stats to make the things the characters already do but better. The limit of complex mechanics is sometimes a boss will do some wild things like apply a debuff instead of attacking, crazy game I know.
Overall a very mid turn based game with one piece attached to it to make it sell. Not the worst but something you should only every buy on sale and something you need to mod to make it borderline playable.
Seems like it was programmed by children, for children. Each dialogue requires button mashing for every 4-5 works of text. You're clearly not smart enough to read a sentence longer than 5 words at any one time, so each dialogue is 5 words, then a button press, then 5 more words, button press, then 5 more words, etc. This goes on for the WHOLE GAME. Every single interaction is a slog-fest of button mashing to get through the most mundane, boring stuff on the planet. There is almost zero emotional investment, as you're just following the most linear, handheld experience known to man. I want to enjoy this, even if just a little bit, but all the good stuff is hidden behind layers and layers and layers and layers and even MORE LAYERS of incessant button mashing to get through hours and hours of 5 word text screens. I would hazard a guess that you spend 90+% of this game mashing buttons just to get through boring stuff. Combat is super repetitive and boring. The animation is pretty decent, though it's hyper saturated, unlike the manga/anime. Everything has a shine/reflective quality to it, including clothing.
If this game takes 40 hours to complete the main story (just a guess, didn't bother looking it up), I would guess that 35 of those hours are dialogue button mashing events and 5 hours of actual gameplay. It also re-uses areas repetitively as well. I played through Alabasta, and cleared the main villain that's the same as the manga/anime... because plot (no spoilers) for no reason other than they have nothing original to play from. The whole plot thread is annoying on its own, which requires you to follow the whims of a depressed emo child. It's like the dream thief in the anime sub-plot that gets boring during the first viewing and you end up skipping every single time after.
I remember playing the first Final Fantasy as a youngster. I remember thinking how amazing turn-based will be in the future and how incredible the technology will take the genre. One Piece is the perfect example that it changed almost nothing, nothing at all. Back then, the memory for the original NES was 2kb. Memory now is 8GB+ and it's almost EXACTLY the same. Super limited interactions per interaction met with a button press to get to the next one. Instead of using the improved memory size to their benefit, they still use the same, absolutely dumb, stupid, inefficient 2kb mentality and it just hurts in a game like this. If they wanted to make this a decent game, not even a good one, they would have created a fully voice acted, full on dialogue through the entire game. Nothing would require more than a single button press to initiate, stopping only for personal choice options, and repetitive dialogue menus would get abbreviated after a time or two so you're not getting the same, overly bloated reminders of everything that happens. When you start a fight, I shouldn't get the same 30 seconds of button mashing dialogue just to throw the first punch... BUT...in this slog-fest, you do, every single time, every single map, every single interaction, the whole game and it sucks. It just absolutely sucks and pisses me off and I can't do it anymore. I want to go to Marineford and Ennies Lobby, instead, I'm wandering around the empty sands of Alabasta for the 2nd time in the game before anything else, regardless of the fact that I already cleared Alabasta and now I'm immediately back again. FTHAT.
The story is 100% irrelevant and serves no other purpose than to sell more One Piece garbage. It's a glitch that you have to correct, and without correcting it, forces you to relive everything from Alabasta on, from the manga, but it's essentially just follow the crumbs to the next spot, and so on. There could be so much they did with this IP, but they chose the same, cursed turn-based setup so they didn't have to come up with anything new or exciting. They simply plugged in the graphics to some 20 year old engine and said, all good. They should feel ashamed.
such a good story game
The story, characters, graphics, and music are all great and the pieces are all there for a great game, but the game is mind-numbingly easy, Your character will have 1000 hp and be at the appropriate level and the enemy will do 1 damage... yeah I don't need the game to be souls-like difficult but this is just too much, makes the gameplay pointless. And I don't care what mods are out there, if the game that is being sold is bad than the developers should fix it, and if/when they do I'll change my review. I really want to like this game.

I love the true to character world and personalities, it really feels like I'm running around inside the anime. Although I wish there was an English dub, it's easy enough to follow in text.
Combat is unusually slow, Map movement is slow, Fights are underwhelmingly easy. Sure, there is good writing and the story is interesting, I'm a huge fan of One Piece. However, I find myself getting bored whenever there is a battle. I love Turnbased JRPG's but this one is just too boring. Kind of sucks that this series got 2 turnbased JRPGs and both of them have combat problems.
This Game is visually stunning. I also very much enjoyed the battle system and stylization of it. I believe I gave this game a fair amount of time before i decided it wasnt for me.
THE ONLY REASON WHY: At its hardest difficulty its way way too easy for seasoned Jrps players, i went from SMT5 to this and it felt like i was watching sunday morning cartoons more than playing a jrpg. very sad becasue it looks and feels sooo good.
wow just wow i went into this game not expecting alot but just wow i LOVE this game mabye because i liked pokemon games as a kid but yeah i totally recomend this i love the terrain and everything also there is a way to skip cutscenes for those wondering bc 50% of the game is cutscenes i feel like im yapping a lot all in all if you a one piece fan you are prob gonna like this game
It's a good trip down memory lane if you made it post time skip in the series. It also has those Dragonquest vibes that I really dig. The characters personalities are accurate and enjoyable and the story keeps me interested which can be harder these days.
One of the better One Piece games out there. Good storyline, original cast, fun combat thought somewhat repetitive (but has a very handy speed up function). Recommend for One Piece fans!

I wasn't expecting much but I was at least expecting it to mostly be combat not just fetch quest after fetch quest
This game is a disappointment. I couldn't get into it because the combat system is just too clunky and the defining mechanic it revolves around makes the whole thing a chore.
The system revolves around a Rock>Paper>Scissors approach to combat to try and create some type of strategy. The problem is that you can swap the characters around regardless of turn order to always be able to attack the weakness of whatever you're fighting. This is treated as a free action, but manages to break the flow of battle since you have to open up multiple menus to do it. And you have to do it just about every turn.
This would be closer to a "Maybe" than anything else.
The game is mechanically solid, it runs well, and if you like One Piece, it's a good recap for the series based upon what I've played so far.
However, its' WAY too easy. I had to mod it to make it even remotely challenging, and that's a bad thing. I found combat so easy that it detracted from the rest of the game.
If you're okay with a really really easy RPG and you love One Piece, go right ahead. Otherwise, stay away.
the game is not in english, it is subbed. Wish it had the english voice actors game seemed alright for the time i played it.
Very good game. Very interesting story line. I really enjoy the game so far. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes One Piece and video games.
I'll open up with the positives: The visuals and effects are pleasing to the eye. The menu and UI are easy to navigate and easy on the eyes. The character interactions are great, especially if you're a fan. If you like One Piece's overused gags, you'll love seeing them here(gotta love em). Many good ideas in this game, such as smaller battles happening amidst a bigger brawl. The idea of a One Piece RPG is fantastic and they shouldn't give up on it. I love the idea I first mentioned in particular. Sadly, as others have said it just isn't executed that well so that is where the positives end.
The negative: The story is fairly uninteresting. It has some moments of polish, but really ends up just being yet another bland One Piece filler arc instead of a believable part of the One Piece story. Most of the good ideas aren't implemented that well, in that the game's enemies are so weak that you don't need to devise any strategy or worry about type differences or any reason to not just use your strongest special attacks over and over. The game just tosses resources at you, so you'll never run out of HP or TP unless you impose restrictions on yourself. Even bosses are nothing more than a small irritation. The final boss is among the easiest in the game. Just spam Zoro's Black Rope Twister and any of Luffy's Gear 4th techniques and its done in very little time. The side content and post-game content is quite dull. The bounties in particular had a lot of potential, but all of the bounty pirates that you hunt aren't even worthy of being considered "filler". This game's areas may be pretty to look at, but only Alabasta had any real work put into them. The rest are very dull and short in comparison. On that subject, traversing the world with all of the various Straw Hat pirate abilities is a great idea, but in this game its just plain clunky and boring. Zipping around with Luffy feels stunted, and more than anything they make you switch to Chopper to get through a small hole or tunnel. You barely use the other Straw Hats, but their abilities aren't that great either. Nami finds money. Sanji finds ingredients. Robin finds research lore. Usopp shoots down bird nests. Franky builds bridges. Zoro cuts metal barriers, and the funny thing is I can't for the life of me remember if Brook does anything. That's how dull and rare it is to use most of the Straw Hats in the overworld. The music is fitting, but you're not going to be going back to any of this music to enjoy it on its own. One of the biggest issues is also the fact that the DLC offered for the game reuses so many assets and locations from the base game that it doesn't seem worth the purchase in the slightest, even when on sale. I don't see myself getting it.
The gist of it is that I can't really recommend this game. It comes off as a horribly rushed game once you get past its surface. It was so dull that most of my playtime was idling on the pause menu. It took me nearly two years of off and on playing to finally get through it. I am a huge One Piece fan and I had hoped it would get better, but it didn't. Skip it and hope the next One Piece game is given more time and love.
As a massive One Piece fan I really enjoyed this game. Good story, decent mechanics and overall good time. I have to admit I was a bit taken aback going from Pirate Warriors 3 and 4 to this due to those games being beat 'em ups and this being a turn based RPG, but after playing a bit you get the hang of it and get locked in.
One gripe I have with this game is the pacing in some areas can be a bit weird and the turn based fights can drag on a bit, specifically towards the end. I also have to mention that the game sometimes has a bit of randomly crashing or freezing which can be a bit scary, especially if you forget, or neglect to save after a while -- I eventually become a paranoid and habitual saver every opportunity I had. (I had to redo the final base game boss fight twice before it stuck and I got the achievement.)
The DLC is...more One Piece Odyssey, so if you liked the base game and its story, you'll like the DLC. Interesting 'extra' story and a nice opportunity to see fan favourites return for a fight or two, so that's nice.
Overall, I'm looking forward to the next One Piece game. :)
Very repetitive turn-based combat, the over-world looks cool but quickly get boring with not much to do. The over all story is comparable to a filler episode. The idea of the game seemed fun but quickly gets old.
