It would be great if the developers fix the bugs that the game has had for over a year, such as the achievement not syncing with Steam.

Wow this was a really great platformer. Its tough but doable and very fair with checkpoints. The extra collectibles were difficult but so fun to try to grab and there is a mode that lets you go back to look for missed collectibles. The controls are tight and the level design is very fun and not repetitive. Bosses were very cool and interesting uses of mechanics too. Im always on the lookout for cool platformers to try out, I saw this played a while back at https://www.twitch.tv/thabeast721 and wishlisted it for later and glad I finally pulled the trigger and played it it was so much fun!

This is a very well-made and serious platformer. There are tons of challenges, puzzles, as well as top-notch boss fights.
Not to be missed by any hardcore platformer fans.
If Megaman, Celeste, and Super Meat Boy had a child it'd be Planet Cube Edge.

If you're into platformers and want a true challenge to make you want to break a few controllers, this is the game for you. Its hard, cute and fun. I haven't been able to pass any level without dying at least 50 times. Hope others can proof it can be done better.
It's a very ambitious game that feels fresh from start to finish thanks to the introduction of new mechanics through out the whole campaign. The level design is very good, each level feels very different than the previous one, even if the color pallet stays the same. And the collectibles placement introduces a fun, optional, extra challenge that is really well balanced.
Most of the boss fights are great and very original. And the story and characters really fit the game and are really enjoyable.
All around a great game, very much recommended.
I played one of the first demos 4 year ago and felt in love with it.
The art direction reminds me a lot of gameboy types of games. It looks pretty but because of that, sometimes is confusing to understand the level.
About the gameplay, the game want you to solve each level in a specific manner, most of the time you will know what to do. But skill is all what matters to complete this game.
Not much to say about the soundtrack, its good.
Cinematics are funny.
Happy to see that after years asking for this, it finally launched!!

This game is so hard and I like it.

This game reminded me of playing NES games back when I was a kid...although the checkpoints in this game are actually forgiving lol That was the last time I played a platformer and I wouldn't have any other game be my re-introduction to the genre. The movement of the character is smooth and quick. The levels increase in difficulty but gradually introduce the player to the different controls and features in a way that is not intrusive or obvious. You learn from playing. You also learn from dying over and over again but not in a discouraging way. Each attempt you learn and improve. It never seems impossible to win. The collectables are hard to find but are worthwhile once you're able to collect them. There is dialogue and story. The sound effects and music match the retro style and are not overpowering or annoying to listen to. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking to pickup a platformer that is challenging and fun. You can even try to top the leaderboards if you want the additional challenge. 5/5 game in my opinion, especially after considering the price.
Its a great game, a lot of pop culture references and homage to other older platformers. The collectibles are not hidden and easily available, but an absolute nightmare to collect some of them. 100% worth it tho. And the bosses are challenging, but gives you a sense of accomplishment.

Classic game review format with some additional comments for each section in between. I'll start by mentioning that the
game style, category, and type of game of Planet Cube: Edge is among my favorites, so I might be a bit harsh on some of my comments, but it's because I have higher than usual expectations for this type of game.

Pro: Artwork is very pretty, pixel aesthetic captures very well the world created by devs.
Con: There is no clear way to easily identify what objects are in the foreground, background and what can interact with the player, other than a slightly darker silhouette on some items. Once you have expectations on what you can do on a level or interact with, this feels like it changes as you progress.

Pro: Devs included very intuitive instructions and sections to easily learn a new mechanic, remapping controls also changes the text in which the instructions are given, great work on that. As a sidescroller, does a great job in placing platforming challenges and scenarios where quick reactions are required, expect to to die a lot.
Con: Default controls are a little clunky, the use of spacebar as Jump is somewhat of a classic, but it was more common in older games with less keys to press other than the spacebar. Default setting also does not promote faster gameplay, remapping helps a LOT and greatly improved my experience, might try with a controller later.
Extra: Dialogue is a little dorky, but funny.

Pro: Music is also a great nostalgia kicker, as it might remind of older arcade games. There is some variation between levels and is consistent through the use of menus, and game progress.
Con: Music a little busy, hard to determine key moments in the game, but it gives the game a feel of a side scroller shoot 'em up and helps promote a fast gameplay and give the player an impulse to rush, beat enemies, and manouver the levels as fast as possible. A fun challenge.

Requirements for gameplay are low, probably don't want a device on the lower end of the spec to guarantee fluid gameplay as some areas will require precise platforming, and you can go back to my comment before on that.

Game is worth the price, as it looks a lot cleaner than most Indie games priced similarly. There's clearly a lot more effort and care placed into aspects such as artwork, gameplay, quality of life features that makes it stand out.

Game is fun, great for audiences looking to feel some nostalgia for some older shoot 'em up sidescrollers. Needs some polishing on gameplay mechanics, but that's just me being picky. 8/10.
This gets hard fast, but in a good way. The difficulty is well tuned so that failing just makes you want to try again.

Like the art style. It's like a Gameboy on steroids!
Gameplay-wise it feels like Super meatboy with guns.
That is to say its a side-on precision platformer, and you will die a LOT!
Thankfully checkpoints are always very close to where you die, so there isn't large amounts of re-treading.
Sme exceptions to this are for end of level challenge-like elements where you often need to put all you have practised into a race-like moment against an enemy. These can be quite difficult as you need to master many moments in a sequence.
Controls feel pretty good. Sometimes I find the level design challenges to be a bit too challenging, some parts require fast reactions.
If you like games where you try, die, repeat until you get that sweet moment of success, then you'll like this game.
It's been a time since I played a worthy old school platformer. Planet Cube: Edge fills that void that those gamers who likes a challenge likes. It's visual style and endearing main character makes you want to play for hours wanting to achieve perfection of execution for every level. I´ll recommend using a controller for this game for a better experience if you are playing in PC.

This is a very charming little game of a style I haven't played in ages. I booted it up and was instantly reminded of wonderful evenings playing Ocean titles (e.g. Batman, The Untouchables) on my C64 & ST but with better sound and graphics :)
If I had to be critical of it I'd say some of the collision is a little unforgiving - for example it's possible to jump up the side of a wall and get killed by the base of a spike on the top of it or get killed by the side of a falling block but - overall that's pretty forgivable given its retro charm. Looking forward to playing more!
Really fun and challenging platformer. Feels like a nice mix of Celeste (great dash mechanic!), Super Meatboy and a little bit of 90's run and gun games. The retro art style is fantastic, nice chunky feel to it, and a great soundtrack. It is challenging, but the checkpointing seems pretty fair and restarts are almost instant so it never gets too frustrating, at least from what I've played so far. Definitely recommended.
Fun little game. Can be quite tough as a platformer and it does what it says on the tin: precision with some cool thrills! Personally I like the art style and it suits the game well and the music keeps pushing the action. If you are into your platforming scrollers, this is a game to check out!
