Interesting game but not worth the full price (€12,50) for 99.9% of Steam users.
I think it's safe to say "The Inner Friend" doesn't qualify as a great game but it's surely a good one. It's interesting and mysterious and challenging enough to keep you playing until the credits roll. It's a bit abstract at times...there's a definite sort of surreal/science fiction flavor to all the levels and environments throughout the game. The soundtrack is good too. If you're a fan of strange games that feature nice graphics, it's worth giving this a try.
not the best of this sort of this game i've played but the puzzles are pretty good and the graphics are very easy on the eyes. The story is too abstract for my liking but the gameplay holds it up.
I had this game in my wishlist for over 2 years as I could never figure out wtf it actually was. A T-rated horror game walking sim but-not-really with light puzzle elements sounds like a tough sell but I'm glad I picked this game up and discovered what it's all about. This game isn't necessarily 'horror' in the classic sense but it definitely nails a sense of dread and sometimes that can be more difficult to nail than horror itself.
I loved the SIZE of the environments in this game, even in something like the school level the hallways stretch for what seems like an infinity and all the settings are so endless that once the ending hits and everything clicks, it's a really powerful moment. The final boss battle resolution + the reveal of the old man was a seriously powerful combo. The secret/hidden ending seems to explain 90% of the plot in about 2 minutes, so anyone who finished the game without collecting all collectibles will want to track down the video of that to actually piece together what happened...more or less.
Glad I checked this game out and if you like surreal story-based games, this is a great pickup.
Wasn't able to play this game for many months because of a glitch, but once I was able to access it, it was well worth the wait. It was very enjoyable and the graphics are great! This game is pretty spooky for no jumpscares and has a very deep story hidden within the unique game play and puzzles. Is worth playing over and over again

Mind Bending Thriller and scenery. Puzzles challenges are perfectly leveled. Audio is suspenseful. Unique. Satisfies a certain type of abstract horror gaming. Exceeded my expectations prior to purchase. You gotta try it, falling and flying is so much fund and solving puzzles are fun.
All symbolism, no depth.
No gameplay at all, huge level with nothing in it. It is a walking simulator for 16.99$ and not even 2 hours of gameplay.
Just finished playing the game, and personally I loved it. To me, it's an artpiece.
The environments and moods were interesting and well thought, the characters were really creepy by times and the sound design was...well, just amazing in itself. I don't know how many times I lowered the volume a bit to finish a section because the sounds were just way too scary, while other times it just added so much to the mood and story. I should add that it's not as scary as other games such as Outlast, which I find unbearable to play. This is something else... Beautifully creepy and just....odd.
I found the puzzles original and interesting, and liked how they linked the inner child within all of us. Well, I related to the main character. The collectibles were a nice touch as well.
It's a good game to play with a non-game watching, since it's creepy just to watch, and you can try to solve the puzzles together. Can't wait to see what they do next.
I met the team at PAX East in Boston great group of people and it shows in how much team work went in to this game. This game is a breath ofd fresh air in a world thats gecoing stedfast with clones and remakes. To all the team at Playmind Thank You, Loved the game when I played the demo and now that I have it I cant wait to playthrough the whole game.
P.S. Limited Run Games would that be a maybe???

Honestly The Inner Friend was a nice change of pace for Horror Games that I have had the pleasure of coming across. It is not the longest game in it's genre sure, but it tells a story of someone facing their fears that seemed too great to face when they were younger. Something that a lot of us, myself included, would love to have the chance to do for the sake of closure. With not only a horror aspect but puzzles and a sense of wonder and rediscovered imagination that we all tend to lose as adults "The Inner Friend" is a game and a story worth your time.

The Inner Friend, as the description of the game says, is a game in which you have to help someone deal with their childhood traumas and make peace with his mind. Like games such as journey, this game does not offer a lot of hours. I took about 2 hours to finish this game (and keep in mind its price).
In short: The gameplay is simple but effective. It doesn't need to serve much more than to progress the story. You mainly have to walk, jump, and solve puzzles. The environment is interesting, the soundtrack is solid, and the story is great.
Games like these, in my view, offer more than a regular game does. Its goal isn't to entertain you for a long period of time. Games like these teach you many life lessons and while the in-game hours may be long, the topics the game deals with will be more memorable to you in the future, effectively increasing the time with which you dealt with the game unlike some games which only remain relevant for as long as you play it. 15 bucks (if it's not on a sale) for 2-3 hours is still something to keep in mind. I recommend waiting for a sale. Again: Games like these are more of an experience rather than pure entertainment. You can definitely spend a couple extra bucks for something like that.
I had an absolute blast with this game. Despite not quite understanding what I was supposed to do for a short time with one or two of the puzzles, I still loved the journey that this game took me on.
It tries to do something unique. It's weird, it's odd, it's thought provoking, it's touching, and I absolutely loved it. I highly recommend it - even at it's current price.

A great visual experience with strong tone and atmosphere. Feels a little rough around the edges at parts, and the gameplay (controls, puzzles, and chase sequences) leaves a bit to be desired however I don't think that's really what you play this for. I would recommend this game on the strength of the setting and aesthetic. Just wanting to know what's aorund the corner kept me going through to the end.
An incredibly surreal experience that seems to offer something new with each section. You'll find puzzles, platforming, stealth sequences and quite a bit more with this game.
It's not always terribly scary, but instead very thought-provoking, as you face childhood fears in varied environments.
Visuals and audio are high quality and also incredibly interesting in how they help tell each particular story. Performance hasn't been an issue either.
The only downside is that it's a rather short experience lasting around 2 hours.
It's different from the usual in a really good way. I'd recommend this.

If you're into puzzle, combined with horror genre, a dark theme and artistic levels, then this game is perfect for you. Had fun playing it. Took me 3 hours to complete. I had to think a little: 15 euro for 3 hours gameplay? Ummm, I belive it had to be 10 euro. However, considering they put much work on art and level designs, I can't complain

An very interesting Scary Indie puzzle game. Totally dif type of games which i've never experianced before.
The sound effect is very cool and amazing grafic.
You must give it a try.
