To say that Luminescence is underwhelming, would be an understatement. It’s a 10 min VN, that
is supposed to say a story of people trying to find out, if a local urban legend is true. The problem is, that there is no actual urban legend in this game.

The story is an insult to the reader, taking into consideration that this VN is not free. You need to pay anEuro, for what seems to be high school student programming assignment.
Novel is attempting to create a “deep story” with “plot twist”, but is missing the context. There is no depth at all. Not in characters and not in “story”.It’s not worth your money.

Music is simple, looping and irritating. The art style is acceptable and not the standard, that you can see in other Visual “novels”, but it doesn’t make it “good”.

Overall, it’s not worth your attention. There are many other FREE novels, that you can enjoy on STEAM. (Like Higurashi,Doki Doki, Lynne)

Luminescence is a very good visual novel game with a beautiful story. The graphics are nice and the soundtrack is Chill and relaxing... I recommend it. 💗💗💗

I'm very confused by what I just played. The art and music are nice though!

I know the price is low but it's a tiny bit over 10 minutes of reading and it's not like the plot is even there.

The English translation is too bad to give this a thumb up.

Very short visual noval.

I mean ... yeah, it's a 99-cent game, but ... other than the cute CGs, it's nonsense. I couldn't even get the last achievement to work. This is like "Today is football," only far less amusing. Just don't bother.

It's a very short, but good VN.

+ Story is interesting
+ Characters are cute

- 'Dare' stories can be found in other free VNs.
- At times the art seems a bit blurred/not sharpened enough

Art is good, but the grammatical error made it less impressive. If it get fixed and there are more contents I probably would consider recommend this game, but at this time I'll pass. 5/10

Hello Steam user who is wondering if this little visual novel is worth their time. I'm going to tell you right now that the short answer is NO! This is my first negative review I've ever written and I have a lot to unload so I'm just getting it right to it.

Pros
– the art. It's nice to look at.
– The interface. It's actually quite clean-cut and professional looking and I honestly feel like they put more work into THAT then they did the story...

Cons
– the story. And when I say story, I mean LACK of story. There are only three characters Ady, Rena and Karen and all you ever find out about them is thatAdy is a writer who doesn't write anymore, Rena is some girl who annoys him constantly and is possibly and/or maybe dead or in a coma (this is actually not make clear at all) and Karen is just some random chick who gets conned into helping out Rena. It's blatantly hinted at that Ady is in love with Renabut outside of that, no one gets any character development at all but this isn't surprising in the least considering how short the damn thing is.
– the length. It's too damn short. It takes less than 20 minutes to complete all the endings. True I have praised short visual novels in the past but at least those had a few hours worth the story with them and not just vague, random story threads that actually sounded kind of intriguing. Like Rena mentioned going after the Mafia and writing a story about them. That idea alone is much more interesting than what the game actually presents.
– The price. Yes I know it's only $.99 but with such fantastic free visual novels like Cinderella Phenomenon, Red String of Fate, Seduce Me the Otome and etc. I actually feel like I've been ripped off. AT $.99! HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?! Hell this game makes Once Upon an All Hallow's Eve feel like a masterwork (and if you read my review on that you'll know how harshly I treated it).
– The music. Boring and generic and manages to get annoying after less than five minutes.

Yeah scratch it. There is no neutral for this game. This game is not even a game! It feels like a rough draft of a game or some sort of choppy prologue. It's actually quite a shame because if there had just been more story I feel like this game could've been something resembling halfway decent.

Seriously don't get it. Save your $.99 for something else. Really. Anything else!

you know this visual novel may be short, but the story speaks much more if you think about it. its worth a read and your time and it would be great if this story would be expanded into much more bigger and richer story. would look forward to more decent stories from this developer.

A fair lot of grammar errors, and the resolution cannot be changed. It's either an ok small window or a bit blurry big window if you decide to try to get it to full screen.

The art style is fine and the story could be too, but I'm picky enough about grammar to stop before getting far, get a refund and move on to another story.

Well.... I do think the character design isn't too bad, therer are at least some okay CGs, and the price tag is pretty low. But as a visual novel, story would be a very important aspect, and this VN has a pretty seriously under-developed storyline, if it can be called story development at all...

Oh and iirc this is developed in an english-speaking country, but the quality of the story text doesn't seem this way...

The artwork was nice. The story was short, but decent. The grammar could use a little more work.

I hope you make an even better piece that is longer and has more choices and endings. I do prefer a shorter visual novel with good story and pacing than a longer one that drags on and becomes boring, so it doesn't have to be super long.

This VN is worth to buy. The art is flawless, the BGM is match with the story, the story is super touching, but it's just too short. I hope they release the 2nd episode to describe more about the characters personality and problems. Little bit grammatical error but still easy to get the point.

This visual novel has a good story even though in my opinion they was too short but worth to buy. You won't waste your time if you play this game. Luminescence has three endings, and you can finish the story for 10-15 minutes each

This visual novel by Genetic Studio features 2 students Ady Sagara and Rena Alexandria. Ady and Rena are both the only members of their school's literature club that is floundering with no activity or new members. One day, a student Karen Veronica approaches Ady with a request to help her undo a curse that is causing her to fail or scrape through every test and exam with a passing mark.

The story and plot is written as a drama with supernatural references. The game has only 1 choice which will lead to 3 possible endings with one ending that can be reached after a few seconds delay before making the choice or after saving game during the decision point.

Reading through the text and dialogue and reaching all 3 endings will take approximately 10 minutes. The game has nice artwork in game cover and CGs, Hope there will be additional episodes for this game and the game will also qualify for Steam trading cards in future. Recommended when at discount or bundle offer.

I didn't know what to expect when I bought this game, but I ended up liking it eventhough it's short and could be completed within 15 minutes, it has two routes True & Bad end, I played the VN using a controller, I liked it's artwork, sad it's short.

EDIT: Since I wrote this, they fixed the english translation mostly, so props to them :)

Just finished the true end.

Of course this game is great for its price. It was over very quickly, but it was quite the funny 15 minutes. I'm a little sad it was such a short novel, but oh well. Maybe they'll make another longer story with the same three characters.

The translation is a little rough around the edges, but hey, thats not much of a problem I think. The storys all there, even I could go in and correct the grammatical errors pretty quickly while still keeping the stories integrity.

Really the only cons are the length and the translation, and both of those are potentially solvable problems, (the later is at least).

I really like the art style, it's different and unique. The plots very deep for 15 minutes, and I like the inoccent nature of it all. I get tired of searching for VN's only to be met with "BOOBS" all the time, I liked this one no matter how short it was.

Just goes to show you how true love should look
