Yeah not much needs to be said, this game is legendary in every aspect. If you have pent up rage that you need to take out, this is the game to do it.
but absolutely FKKKKKK the devs for screwing over Mick Gordon. That's really the only unforgivable thing about this franchise.
Best game that i have ever bought icl. But, the dlc's difficulty spike was crazy nonetheless it was still really fun
buy the game and stop looking for reviews unless your bad at shooter games
It's a fun time once you get used to the flow. The chainsaw, flame thrower, grenades, blood punch, etc - all of the abilities have a purpose and the game rewards you for staying in motion and being aggressive while mixing them up from wave to wave of demonic hoards. The story is pretty solid so far. I also appreciate the humor that's spread throughout, like collecting figurines and album covers, etc. Haven't finished the main campaign yet, only because I've hit the point of no return and decided to backtrack the levels to 100% the secrets, and I haven't touched the DLC or multiplayer modes, but overall it's been a lot of fun.
Doom 2016 was a masterpiece beyond words. The gameplay, gun choice, level design, everything about it was great and proved a fulfilling experience. Doom Eternal takes all of that and throws it out the window.
For reference, I played on the 2nd easiest difficulty, and no you cant make the excuse I'm too old to enjoy fast combat. I'm 21.
The combat is just too fast for how narrow it is. The game wants you to play the way it was designed, very unlike Doom 2016 where it felt like you had a choice. The game immediately introduces you to 4 or so different gameplay mechanics, and follows them up with even more, and expects the player to immediately be perfect at pulling them off.
The movement in Doom 2016 was simple, maybe a little too simple, but Doom Eternal's movement is just too much. Lots of puzzles that felt random for the situation and not really implemented well in the level design. I liked the dashing feature, but when it was time to parkour to the next segment, I immediately get scared I'll dash into an invisible wall or somehow miss a monkeybar to lead to the next segment. Can't even remember how many times I've failed the parkour, because I fell down at least once on every single one of them.
The level design is ATROCIOUS. The graphics and performance is phenomenal, but the verticality in some segments just didn't make any sense. This is like playing Doom 2016 on acid.
I'm not forgetting the popups you get upon launching the game. This is not fortnite, this is Doom. No one cares about the cool new demon unlock or Slayer skin, or whatever those were.
I really wanted to like this game, but I seriously don't like the direction they look with this. Everything about this experience makes me feel like they didn't want to make it to begin with. Maybe it was rushed, it did release around the time of covid.
Once again, I'm sorry I didn't like it, but this doesn't feel like Doom anymore. This is Zoomer Doom or Doom: TikTok Edition, not Doom Eternal.
very fun very fast lots of gore
much better than 2016 the last game was too slow
first few missions are a bit boring but it picks up fast as you get better
personally my favorite fps game oat
in my opinion there needs to be a difficulty between nightmare and ultra nightmare as its too much of a jump
nightmare is too easy for me now
For the most part the sequel to 2016's excellent Doom reboot is a good game with lots of great moments but peppered with some frustrating enemy & boss fight designs.
8.5/10
PROS
- Smooth, precise and tight shooting mechanics paired with awesome weapons that look and feel great!
- THE SUPER SHOTGUN IS POSSIBLY THE GREATEST GUN IN THE HISTORY OF FPS'!! Try it out as soon as you get it, take some time to get used to it and you'll love it (once fully unlocked). An absolute MUST on harder difficulty levels.
- A solid story that continues the plot from 2016's reboot and further delves into the origin of the Slayer and his hated demonic Horde foes. However, given the the ending I'm wondering where they'll take it with next year's sequel heh.
- One of the best map designs of any game I've ever played that assists you in locating the many hidden collectibles (some quite cleverly).
- Superior collectibles as compared to Doom 2016: the toy figurines each portray a different enemy type which are set on display in the Doom Slayer's rest room at his base, and they come with full, viewable 3D models. This is in contrast to the previous game where each collectible was just a re-coloured figurine of the same exact Doom Slayer, bleh!
There are also vinyls to collect that showcase iconic music from previous old-school DOOM & Quake games that you can play at your base!
CONTROVERSIAL
- They added quite a bit of platforming with this sequel which you'll either enjoy as a fun change of pace from the intense run-and-gun fighting, or you'll hate if you're a purist or just dislike platforming in general. Fortunately none of it is really hard and the controls and movements are pretty precise. The issue I had with it is that some of it just doesn't gel with the character of the Doom Slayer. The dash makes sense as Doom Guy is all about brute force and charging ahead, but it's very odd to have him swing from bars like a monkey lol.
CONS
Some tedious and frustrating boss fights, most especially the Marauder and the Icon of Sin.
- Marauder's actual boss fight isn't too bad but it's frustrating that every previously-established mechanic up to that point gets violated during the encounter, and not in a fun way. The saving grace is that once you get his pattern and timing down he becomes easy; the real issue is that from that point onward he appears in every level thereafter, with less health but with the same annoying mechanic, and having to fight him over and over again quickly becomes tedious.
-Icon of Sin is boring and repetitive fight where you have to contend with endlessly-spawning waves of enemies in a combat area littered with powerful power-ups. So you shoot the boss a bit, go kill mobs with the OP drops to recover some health & armor, rinse and repeat. BOOORING! The 1st phase is also very annoying in that the massive boss can easily and frequently knock you out of of zone over and over again...
Mover Shooter::::::::::::::::::
Doom never disappointing in the aspect of the mover shooter, where you have to constantly be moving to survive if you stop moving you lose. The sound track in the game keeps it very interesting and makes you want to keep playing the game. The game is very immersive and keeps you on the edge of your seat however the games are starting to get more repetitive on the fact of it being the same death animations on certain enemies that you get to "execute" with no real story line that they have involved on this. Hence the game was first created that way and they are keeping it the same. But its more of like one of those movies that the story is there but it just ends up being predictable and drawn out in some parts. The game is still good at the end of the day but almost too much of the same in some parts that just overwhelms the rest of it. And something that you wouldn't want to come back for another play through unless just messing around with it because you already know its a walker runner shooter game.
In my opinion I would wait for sale for these games, they are a fun different play through. However due to the shelf life and how repetitive it can get I would get the series on a sale that they have done before in the past.
The only game i've finished in the highest difficulty. It is epitome of FPS gameplay - fast, chaotic, over the top, bombastic, loud and goddamn heavy. Heartattacks, anxiety and high blood pressure are expected, but only classified as collateral damage! F*#k it, push through. Play it for them feels!
A controller is highly recommended! :-/
Rating: 7/7
95/100 - My 147th game since 2020
One of the best First Person Action games ever made!
How did they achieve such excellent graphics that plays like butter is beyond me.
The reload time is less than 10 seconds. Doesnt drop a single frame. Consistently delivers 60 fps. And the graphics is cutting edge and incredible. It is simply a miracle.
I played in the nightmare difficulty and the pace of action is relentless and unforgiving. But getting back into the game in less than 10 seconds after you die means it doesnt get tiring.
The guns are incredible, the game mechanics are incredible, the enemies are incredible....everything is incredible.
Maybe it gets a bit repetitive. Other than that....whew what a game!
Doom Eternal is not just one of the best shooters out there; it's a non-stop journey that redefines what an action game should feel like, and I love shooters of the genre...quake, wolfenstein, fallout,.... and killing in Doom is incredibly satisfying and intense. The combat is perfectly tuned, and with a fast-paced mix of shooting, dodging...
Of course the graphics are absolutely gorgeous, always ahead of time following Bethesda strategy and the level design is incredible. Some could say it is a bit repetitive but I always have this amazing sense of epic scale and atmosphere that just pulls you right into the chaos in a fun way. Plus, the soundtrack is a masterpiece, too, heavy metal, adrenaline-pumping, and exactly what you want when fighting hell's minions and bosses. No matter if you're an old Doom fan or just getting started, Doom Eternal is a must and one of the most lore-built experiences you'll ever have. If you like shooters, you cant miss it.
I noticed i never reviewed this game and now that im replaying it to prepare for Dark Ages its a perfect time to say.
Doom is the greatest First Person Shooter franchise of all time, and Doom Eternal is the greatest First Person Shooter of all time, nothing comes close, nothing ever will. (Besides hopefully Dark Ages)
Boy I sure am glad that I lost about an hour's progress because Bethesda's crappy servers went down and the game wouldn't save without a connection! Always online games are just the best thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing gameplay, graphics and just fun.
I died a lot but had a lot of fun. This one seemed more difficult than previous Dooms but worth it. Will definitely play this one again.
This game is far superior to doom 2016, the increase in pacing and difficulty, as well as the now paramount and necessary utilisation of the slayers full arsenal makes it very challenging, particularly when playing on nightmare difficulty, where even 1 mistake costs you your life. really good fps game, highly recommended for anyone who enjoys Quake and other doom games, or any other extremely fast fps. soundtrack is amazing too - Mick's works in particular. Rip and Tear.
Downgrade in most aspects from the 2016 version:
1) Lore got chunky, overloaded and non-sensical
2) Aesthetics of the game are off into some gargantuan mecha robots
3) Artistic style moved into cartoony territory
4) Gameplay loops are at the same time too overloaded with mechanics to givee you "freedom of choiceee" and constricted to force you into using using mechanics like chainsawing and animation usage
5) Game seems faster then previous version but at the same time way off with game speed with dashes, monkey bars and other platforming which is just... not what you expect out of Doom.
Overall, quite disappointed, especially since last game for me was the opposite and gave chance to platying this one. Stick to the originals, Doom 1, it's xpacs and Doom 2016
Very disappointed in this.
Just a note: I LOVED Doom 2016. Got 100% of all collectibles and thoroughly enjoyed my time with it.
Doom Eternal is grossly unbalanced, and it is CLEARLY designed to be not only difficult, but to DEMAND that you play the way the developers want. If you try to deviate from their intended play style, you will die and you will die a LOT. I play all games on the "Normal" difficulty, but Doom Eternal doesn't have one. The "Easy" setting is too easy, but the "Normal" difficulty is far too punishing. It's just not fun at all.. You are expected to just run in circles around the levels because if you are stopped for any reason, you will be killed almost instantly. Running in circles is BORING, but if you try to fight the monsters without running away you are killed in seconds.
NO THANKS.
a game that will boost your testosterone levels by 1,000,000%, recommended for the very fast pace gameplay, explorations and collectibles this game could offer, 10/10 super shotgun go kaboom
This is an awesome game with awesome graphics, and it runs well. But do you know what can totally ruin a game like this? Jumping puzzles! And this game has more meaningless jumping puzzles than mario 3.
This sequel is harder, and it might be too hard for me, but so far the game is still really well. I recommend it for anyone looking for a speedy shooter with great music!
what do i say? its doom, there's badass metal music that anyone can enjoy, enough blood and guts for the sadistic and plenty of demon slating for the righteous and definitely more than enough guns to go around. now though on the other hand the ancient gods part 1/2 some issues lay there. ancient gods part 1 is great the story is smooth the game play is consistent and keeps going my only issue with it is that there's a new enemy type that goes invincible for a period of time having to wait for it to become vulnerable is a pain its attack animations are fast so if you are getting chased its hard to shoot it down but its attacks are quite fast so its hard to dodge them while taking out bigger demons and it kinda slows the pace so not great but thats it. now for aincent gods part two ill put it lower as it will contain a spoiler
OK so for part two same thing good game play the story is compelling and the cut scenes are to die for but for some reason its a bit laggy nothing horrible just when blood punching or using the hammer on any target/s that have been frozen or on fire it tends to lag with all the dropped items and its only part two that does this (for reference i have a 3070ti and a AMD ryzen 7800x3d so its not hardware) now on to the more note-able stuff. they add a new enemy called the stone imp its only there so you're forced to use the auto shotgun mod (which very few use to begin with) then way later they add a riot shield enemy which can only be hurt if frozen or a bomb it shot behind them but that's only to balance out the obvious placement of the stone imp not horrible but not great. then later on they over use the spirit, just becomes exasperating with how often you have to kill it. now the biggest issue. sadly the boss fight was a big let down all you did was fight " THE DARK LORD" like a normal marauder, the only difference is that there are shadow enemies that join the fight and if he hits you or you deal damage out side of his dps faze he heals that's it five rounds of that the only good thing that happened from it was a cut scene in the middle of the fight and the final cut scene then a small one after that was kind of a let down it was short and left way to many questions as to what the hell just happened some are answered if you listen carefully to the middle cut scene but even then way to many loose ends that make the ending feel like it fell flat on it face. I absolutely recommend doom eternal, not so much the ancient gods dlc that's really if you wanna finish the story line from doom 2016 to now that's it. they'll more than likely bring doom guy back since we already know about dark ages but obviously we have no info on that at all, it could be from before doom 2016 or another reality where demons weren't killed all we do know though is to RIP AND TEAR UNTIL IT IS DONE.
I got about 500 more hours on my Xbox. Doom Eternal is the funnest Doom and is incredibly well designed. Battle mode was kind of mediocre though, but that's not the main attraction of the game. TAG 1 was amazing but TAG 2 was a let down. Still a good DLC that's worth getting, but it's just not as good as the main campaign and TAG 1.
fun but challenging also kinda expensive if you dont get on sale
great game tho soooooooo many bugs ive had to restart about 5 difrent check points or whole levels becouse they just didnt work how there suposted to
For my first purchase this game was quite thrillingly fun.On the other hand one could say I felt the doom that would befall unto me the moment ived spent my currency. You could say it was worth the purchase.Overall,I might play this game eternally.
Doom Eternal is hands down one of the most epic FPS games ever made. The gameplay is nonstop, in-your-face action that keeps you on your toes every second. Each fight feels like a crazy puzzle, where you have to mix up weapons, keep moving, and make every shot count. The graphics are insane, the levels are packed with detail, and the soundtrack pumps you up to go all out. It’s got that perfect balance of chaos and strategy that’s hard to find. An easy 10/10.
I would give this game a 10/10 for actual product, but I am leaving a negative review due to Marty Stratton and Id Software?Bethesda's abhorrent treatment of Mick Gordon, whose work is the sole reason I even bought the game. I already paid for it, but I am inclined to get a refund and acquire a "free" copy instead, much like how Id acquired "free" copies of Mick Gordon's work in their creative process. I will not be purchasing any products from Id Software or Bethesda Games moving forward after this horrendous display of blatant disrespect, deception and general scumbaggery from the aforementioned companies. To anyone reading this - the game is good, but if you're gonna play it, steal from Id like they stole from Mick.
DOOM Eternal is a beautifully crafted game with some of the most well-thought-out designs.
Gameplay: 9/10
Graphics: 9.5/10
Story: 8/10
Game Design: 10/10
Music: 9/10
Overall: 9.1/10
The environments, and the music, make it a game oozing with the passion for the world building and game. The gunplay and movement are paced, the weapon and enemy diversity keep nothing stale and the maps they created are just stunning, the story was also great. Doom Eternal builds on everything Doom 2016 and does it so much better. There were some visual and physics bugs, but nothing major. A fantastic game overall and I enjoyed every moment.
Everything... everything is absolutely badass. from the glory kills to the combos i could make, this game pumps me up to my MAX TESTOSTERONE
Possibly one of the most fun gameplay loops in any recent games.
If 2016's DOOM is 666/10 then DOOM Eternal is 6/10 for me. That's still more a yes than a no so I recommend it but this review is mainly about what I didn't like.
Cheap mobile game feeling
This is not the most important thing but I really, really felt an eternal rage every time the game notified me about some new player background or skin or whatever. At least let me turn this shit off if I'm here for the single player experience. It is super annoying that even after loading the campaign, there are these endless notifications.
Gameplay
Well, I really hated it at first. I thought every change from 2016's DOOM was for the worse. But through time I adapted (very slowly, I know, that's a skill issue) and begun to appreciate it. I still like the more streamlined, less complicated way of doing things in Doom. But I gotta give this to the devs; they tried something new. This is the new Doom and it is not necessarily bad, just different. So kudos to them.
Art design
I feel a bit bad for saying this but I think this was the weakest part of the game. It made me refund the game when it came out - I only got it recently again on a sale. The new environments feels like either generic video game assets put together or copy pasted from other games. Many times I felt like playing Unreal, Titanfall or Anthem. They don't necessarily look bad, just not that special and what is worse: doesn't feel like DOOM. 2016's DOOM's art design for me was a perfect reimagination of Doom and every little detail felt like it belonged to the game's world. With DOOM Eternal I felt this only at the already familiar Hell levels.
Sound design
This is top notch, however the music was better in 2016's DOOM imho. But in this particular matter the real question is: wtf, Marty???
Story and lore
So I hated this too in the beginning. Too much, too silly and again definitely worse than 2016's DOOM which was the perfect balance for me. But I have to admit, after many hours it kinda grew on me a little. So I'd say it's OK..ish...
Bugs
It was really disappointing that it had a collision bug after all this time. When you try to make a jump right at the very edge of a platform, sometimes you bump into an invisible collision which kills your momentum. This was really annoying, I encountered it several times through my playthrough.
I'm still a little curious what the next DOOM game will have in store for us. But my expectations are definitely much lower than before I played DOOM Eternal.
Constant action. Mindless killing and gore. Its fantastic.
Pure Adrenaline. Banger soundtrack, Smooth ass combat, fun platforming. Doom Eternal does everything Doom 2016 did well, and does it better.
Doom Eternal is a direct follow-up to the 2016 reboot, featuring more of its predecessor's relentless combat and complex platforming in steeped further detailed visuals. You star as the Doom Slayer, a bad-ass warrior fighting masses of devils over an array of atmospheres from Hell-overrun Earth to extraterrestrial regions Glory kills, chainsaw fuels and flame belching for health recovery/ammo/armor respectively are key tools used throughout the campaign to encourage players move around — precision aim while dodging attacks ingame on higher difficulties pays tenfold in resource gain which may turn a defeat quickly into victory. It's really near to perfection in providing exhilarating experience bundled with vast array of weaponry while setting the lovely heavy metal beat on best levels yet.
Great game - phenomenal soundtrack thanks to Mick Gordan. Despite Marty Stratton's best efforts - what a garbage humanbeing.
Not worth supporting this company while Marty's at the helm.
A very fun game although sometimes it feels cheap rather than truly challenging. I prefer 2016 over Eternal personally but this is still good.
In reviewing Doom Eternal I feel the need to compare it to Doom (2016) to address what I think are the things they did better and the things they did worse. This is solely a review for the solo experience (campaign, and ancient gods 1 & 2) and not the multiplayer experience.
Movement:
My god Doom Eternal really improves movement, putting aside that having the grappling hook and the dash make it a lot more easy and fun to move around the battle field they do a good job genuinely rewarding you for evading attacks and timing combos, its rare to find a shooter that won't be improved by a grappling hook and Doom is no exception. Minor details have also improved where you can climb almost any ledge in a battlefield and its feels less choppy then Doom's movement. The only complaint I have is swimming feels a little awkward but there's no combat so eh.
Aesthetics:
I think its really fun that they added so many diverse skins for characters and weapons alike. I'm not someone who usually gets invested in my profile and stuff like that but I found it a little fun and its not taking anything away by having all the cool designs. However, while the art style looks more crisp in Doom Eternal I can't help but prefer Doom's artstyle. If I was to describe why Doom has much more of a "Demonic" environment to me both with the enemies and the maps. Doom Eternal on the other hand feels more like a Terminator esk artstyle if that makes sense. In fact, calling them zombies instead of the possessed perfectly describes it just feels less demonic to me even though they are obviously demons, but this is entirely preference.
Story:
I don't think most people play Doom for the plot exactly but I see this similarly as the skins where its not necessary but a welcome surprise. While I don't think the story is winning any awards its still a decent story, there's a good amount of detail and twists, and learning the background of the Slayer and the characters around him is pretty cool. The codex entries existed back in Doom but they don't go into nearly as much depth as Doom Eternal and its entirely optional on whether or not you want to read them so I like it.
Combat (This is the bulk of the game so I'll separate it into subsections):
Enemies: Doom Eternal adds a bunch of enemies compared to Doom and I'm all for it, the different actions they take can make the combat feel a lot more interesting and prevent players from feeling board. I also think having many of the enemies have weak point you can exploit is a pretty cool mechanic to add and you can choose to take advantage of it or not depending on your style. My one concern is making the enemies too difficult unless you exploit their weakness but I get more into detail for that later.
Ammo & Weapons:
So Doom Eternal has changed some of the weapon mods for different weapons while maintaining the mods for many others. Overall, I think I like the changes where the chain gun has better mods now and the super shotgun got an obvious upgrade (I will always miss the precision bolt Gauss Cannon though). Adding in the Umakyr is fun and while I never used it much its a nice alternative to the BFG. Adding in the ice grenade is a much more fun side arm than the hologram and the flamethrower is a fun add on. These changes in combination with having them act seperately to your gun so you can fire them while shooting is definitely a game changer and its a very nice touch that they can be used to recover health and armor respectively. However, I'm not a fan of removing the pistol with infinite ammo from Doom and making it that a regular punch does no damage anymore (I imagine this is due to adding the blood punch which I like the mechanic of but I think it would be better to have both). There's two reason for this, one is the issue with ammo that I will elaborate on right after, and the other is the fact that I sometimes I don't want to use ammo on an enemy so having the option to just punch it to death or pistol head shot it is great even if it does almost no damage and is impractical in actual combat. As for the ammo, there are many times in the early-mid to late game of the campaign where I ended up running out of ammo for all weapons. I noticed this issue in the beginning and rushed the explosive barrels dropping ammo upgrade to help deal with this but it only helped if they were in the battlefields. Removing enemies dropping ammo even when your low on ammo in combination with way to damage enemies without ammo besides waiting for frag grenade to come off cool was rather frustrating. I often felt like insult to injury where I'd die due to no ammo and then came back to life, only to still have no ammo and sometimes continue wasting extra lives as a result. This issue was fixed when Makyr angels started appearing and once you get the Sentinel Hammer but both of those are rather limiting and don't change that a large portion of the Doom Eternal campaign feels like a desperate search for ammo. I disagree with the idea that you should HAVE to use your arsenal to match the enemy your facing in Doom because people often have weapon preferences, and punishing them for not using the best weapon against an enemy or utilizing the enemies weak point is just not fun for a chaotic shooter like Doom.
Combat style:
I was eluding to it at the end of the last section but while I enjoy adding weak points and strategic methods for dealing with enemies I don't think you should be pigeon holed into them. They are minor cases of this like with the Cyber Mancubus and the Doom Hunter where there's definitely a better option but Its not like you HAVE to do it a certain way (although I think Cyber Mancubus should not be as tanky as they are without a blood bunch just because they have a stupid piece of platemail). However, having enemies that you Must use a specific method/weapon mod to kill frankly feels ridiculous. some great examples of this are the Spirit and the Stone imp where you can to use a specific weapon mod to kill them or else you just can't. I don't mind if its like the Pinky where you can get behind the to do more damage but at the end of the day you can mow it down with the chain gun head on if you really want. But having the use the microwave beam on (which often feels like pulling teeth to lock on and stay locked on but maybe I'm just biased) the spirit or the full auto shotgun mod on the stone imp with no alternatives frankly just feels gimmicky. I'm honestly curious if some of these enemies were added to force players to use less popular weapon mods and if so I think that's awful because again, people have their own preferences and Doom should be a game that generally lets you play however you want so long as your creating carnage. There's another specific fighting style in doom that you have to adhere to that I'm not a fan of. A rather polarizing topic but I'm not a fan of the marauder. I like his attacks (although that damn dog can die in a ditch for all I care) but the issue is his shield. Remember what I said earlier about having to use a specific weapon to kill a specific enemy? Its kinda like that except worse in my opinion because you often have to wait for the opportunity before striking. Doom is a great game because its a fast-paced shooter that gets your adrenaline pumping because you have like 15 different things to worry about. But with the marauder I have no choice but to basically stand still wait for him to attack me before I can wallop him. Like, all the excitement in running around has essentially slowed to a crawl where I have to wait for the enemy to do something which I don't think matches Doom's style.Armored Barons also do this but its less bad. To be honest, I give it more of a pass because they're one time but even having this for boss fights can feel really annoying.
Overall, Doom Eternal is a great game although admittedly expensive for its playtime. I definitely recommend buying it on sale and have fun slaying!
Very different game to Doom 2016. Forces you to switch weapons constantly and there is a lot more puzzle solving and platforming.
One of the best games I've played. Best in the series imo, combat is super smooth and fast, it's really lovely. Can't wait for the Dark ages, I have really high hopes for it. Thank you for all the incredible games throughout the years, ID software, played them as a kid, still do as an adult, thank you.
it feels a little like a mod for doom 2016 made by hardcore fans. i found myself having fun. i'm still just getting started and it's already over the top.
Gigachad game where very angry man fights demons at a ferocity that is considered to be genocide all because they killed his rabbit. Not to mention the pretty simple rythem to the mechanics. Keep forgetting about some weapons though. Also, the secrets. You must be constantly looking for cracks in a wall and straying away from the objective. A downside in mho. Still, very fun once I fix my graphics card.
This Soundtrack has a good game. DOOM Eternal is so much fun, once you understand your weapons and abilities you enter a flow state, plus the amazing ost. However, my one kinda complaint is difficulty. For me I played my playthrough on Ultra-Violence and I still got through with little to no challenge, maybe the Nightmare and ultra nightmare difficulty has that though I am yet to try them. Nonetheless a fun game with a great soundtrack.
Great action/shooter. Captures the spirit of Doom and id at their best while pushing the genre forward. Fully recommend. Love the art style too. Great game. 10/10
Something is genuinely broken with this game I think. I have a fairly high end PC (Specs below) and this game has random lag spikes throughout that make the game completely unplayable. The lag gets so intense that it affects my entire PC until I close the game out. Changing multiple settings and dropping everything to low doesn't seem to help either.
AMD 7900 XT
AMD 7800 x3D
Corsair 64GB DDR5 6000
2TB Crucial SSD
Game settings are high with RTX on. When the lag isn't happening I'm pulling well over 140 FPS constant.
Temps sit around approx. 68-70C for CPU and 70C for GPU.
All in all if there is a fix to this issue I do not know what it is and cannot recommend someone buying this game if it is broken/unplayable. Especially since no other game has presented this issue to me.
game so good when you don't got a whiney cyborg CEO of the space corporation that caused the demonic outbreak in the first place yapping in your ear about blowing a hole in the surface of mars.
It's just a good game. If you want a story-based shooter with heavy combat that hearkens back to the days of the original Doom, Quake, and Half-Life, this game is the game for you.
Finally beat the final boss. And it took longer that its supposed to simply because I got distracted by the minions. pro tip: just ignore the minions and focus on the boss.
Good game all in all. Doom was my childhood game, and I'm glad they revived the series.
as far as the gameplay goes, it’s incredible. Guns feel real, impacts are visceral and the mechanics are phenomenal. How the same studio who made this also made starfield is beyond me.
I cannot get past the janky sound effects. I’ve tried all sorts of settings and even checked for mods, but they sound like a handheld game from 1998. The original doom on Super Nintendo had better sound effects. (Yes I was there.) I’ve just not been able to get into it for that reason
in the second installment of the modern doom games the dial gets turned to 11 and doesn't seem to stop for this on the rails boomer shooter. With an interesting story it really adds lots to the doom slayer and world building. If you enjoy a good metal soundtrack or killing demons with glory kills look no further.
His will is unmatched. The forces that he goes up against are capable of leveling worlds, annihilating species, and yet he faces them alone. Against all of the evil that hell can conjure, all of the wickedness that mankind can produce, we have sent unto them, only him. He is no longer just a man, he is beyond us. He is beyond the Maykrs, he is beyond the demons, he is, put simply, a god. He will rip and tear the demons, until it is done, because the only thing they fear... is him.
