Super fun DigiMight solitaire game. The only problem I found with the game is that at the end with all levels at three stars, I was NOWHERE close to purchasing all of the power-ups. I had four left to buy. I would have needed to replay the game entirely again to 3 possibly all 4 of them.
No frills, standard solitaire.
This is practically the same game as the first one, Charmed Kingdom. However, I am recommending against this game as it is basically just made needlessly a lot more difficult and grindy. If that's your thing, then you may like it. This game is like Charmed Kingdom on hard mode with even the first hands being noticeably more difficult. That wouldn't be as much of a problem if it wasn't a lot more grindy to get enough gold to buy upgrades and power ups. It takes forever to get gold this time around. in Charmed Kingdom I had all the upgrades bought by the time I made it to the last few levels of the game. In this one, I finished all the levels, then went back and made sure I had all hands finished with 3 stars. After that I still had to go back and play several hands over and over again to grind gold to buy the last two upgrades for my last achievement. I had all other achievements already before that.
This also lead me to discovering that you can't get any wild cards (like spares or jokers) by replaying old hands. I only ever got them when playing hands I hadn't beat yet. So grinding back old levels you can not farm spares or Jokers. The only way to get more after beating the hands is to buy them from the shop... with gold you need to buy your upgrades.
I don't usually recommend against a game, much less a Solitaire game, but this one I am.
I play Solitaire games like this as a leisure mindless game while I'm busy doing other things, like playing DnD or watching YouTube. One that ramps up the difficulty and grind so much takes away from that.
If you want a game that is more difficult that the first Snow White Solitaire: Charmed Kingdom, and one where you have to grind a lot more gold from old hands over and over again to buy upgrades, you may like this. Other wise I say play the first game and skip this one.
The game starts out really hard and the first upgrades to make it at least a bit less punishing are really expensive. Same problem as in the last game (Snow White Solitaire Charmed Kingdom) that cards are purely random, so levels aren't solvable (as in get at least one star) most of the time. This time even the first hands are incredibly hard to solve (planned as a DLC?). Avoid this one.
Edit: Ah, it's a pay-to-win mobile game. Now it makes perfect sense.
this solitaire is, as others already wrote, quite hard to solve, especially in the beginning where there is no money & the yield from the hands is only meager.
there are several restrictions & difficulties put in place which make the game to be played slowly. like the limit to play the first area through with at least one star on every hand. or the helper cards limited to only 4 spaces, while every additionally gained card will be the next card played.
at least once a hand is played even without gaining any stars, it opens up the next to be played.
all those limits can appear to quick & impatient players as grindy, but since a solitaire is also named a Patience, so i don't mind to spend my time with it while listening to the music, which is the same as in the previous Snow White Solitaire & still very enjoyable.
all in all, a recommendable solitaire.
snow white solitaire: legacy of dwarves is the follow-up to charmed kingdom, and of course it's still the usual +1/-1 situation with the typical fantasy coat of paint. since they are pretty much identical, so will be my reviews.
in the first game the dwarf was more of a background dancer, his hammer only used to break locked cards instead of being an actual power-up, but he's taking center stage in this one. well, centerish. snow white is still the boss, but instead of beans you're looking for parts of a mighty hammer to get rid of hordes of evil threatening the dwarves.
150 solitaire levels again, divided into 40 packs over 5 worlds, to save on drawing a bigger overworld map once more. hidden object scenes and jigsaws are back, and jigsaws are part of the 4-level packs, unfortunately, one in every 4th. unlike hidden object sections with a slow hint button, they can be skipped after a while and the image to complete can be toggled in the background.
3-star rating based on the number of cards left, but while the first game gave 1 star for 4 cards left, you can only leave 2 cards here. harsh. no stars still unlocks the next level, but you need to 1-star them all to unlock the next world. decks are also smaller than before, adding to the challenge and/or frustration. however, ridiculous amounts of identical cards are no more, which is excellent news. still no on-screen timer, but completion time is shown in the level complete window.
companions are still the source of power-ups. you start with the knight, who can swap the current card for a more useful one, and new characters show up every now and then, most familiar from the first game, all doing the same things the others did. a different swamp guy flips cards over this time, the golem still shuffles the board (more of a re-deal, as it replaces cards), the dragon continues to remove selected face-up cards, and the girl from atlantis gets rid of random cards. besides their unlock order being different this time, a most welcome change is the visible cooldown. it still takes about 20 or so cards to recharge them, and they might not be available when starting a new level, but now it's easier to keep track.
the shop, also available during levels, offers various bonuses and upgrades for your hard-earned cash. still no need to unlock undo or the counter for remaining cards, but you can buy jokers and equipment for your buddies to enhance their powers. wildcards can also be found while playing, which is fortunate, as jokers are a bit pricey (same as the first game), as optional as they are. only 4 extra cards can be held at a time, finding another one will put it on top of the pile, so my usual hoarding behavior wasn't welcome here. achievements reward gold, one of the rare instances when they have a purpose, but upgrades are ridiculously expensive here. you won't be able to buy everything without farming gold. I'd have needed 60k more by the time I was done, and then what's the point?
an oversight/bug that can cause problems is once you select the dragon, it can't be canceled, have to choose a card or two to remove. you can deal another card or use other power-ups, but can't remove anything by pairing them, as the dragon is the 'active cursor', and even finishing or restarting a level doesn't cancel it. which is even worse if you upgraded it to two cards. either right click or something worked in the first game or I just never ran into this issue.
something not seen commonly in these kinda games (though it might be a staple for this developer) is limited-time bonuses. if you quickly collect a card covered by a tornado, for instance, it will flip over two random cards, but if you take too long, the tornado will disappear. bonus gold or cards are other examples, but I found these more distracting than useful, and they cover the entire card too.
great graphics and excellent music, but I would've liked some new songs this time. separate volume settings, windowed mode with a smaller non-resizable window, custom cursor, card fronts and backs, in-game representation of achievements, and multiple player profiles. didn't notice as many typos as last time.
much to my surprise, while largely the same, it's more challenging than the first game due to tighter star requirements, way higher prices and smaller decks, but with no excess of identical cards it's also less unfair and more strategic, though you'll still be retrying levels a lot. this one also took me about 7 hours. of course, with all the companions and some money saved up it's easier to deal with problematic levels, so you might want to concentrate on going forward and return to 3-star stuff later.
Don't buy it! It is not fun at all! It is a grindy Solitaire.
Recommended with HUGE caveats.
The game is pretty much the same as its predecessor.
Same story presentation, same mini-games, similar layouts.
Okay. Now- the big differences-
Huge grind. HUGE. Way more than the first game. Be prepared to replay levels over and over to get enough gold for the over-prices jokers and amulets. (Level 1, 1st layout it okay for this, not a ton of gold, but fast and easy to clear at 3 stars, once you have an amulet or two or three.)
Small deck sizes, even with the amulet to give 2 extra cards at the start. Which means some layouts will take many tried and great luck to clear.
Did I say be ready to replay levels over and over, and grind, grind, grind?
Yeah, the grind is the biggest drawback to this game.
The art is pretty enough, the music and sounds are fine.
The grind is horrendous.
Not a bad game for killing time. Short sessions, and you can leave levels incomplete or at 0-2 stars and replay them from the map at any time, to grind for gold or to get the 3-stars achievements. (So, at least you don;t have to replay the entire game from the start to unlock missed achievements or to grind for gold.)
Worth full price?
IMHO... NO.
Buy it on deep discount or skip it. Even if you really liked the first game, and "must" have this one.
Buy. It. On. Sale.
There are other, far better solitaire games out there for solitaire addicts, or for those looking for a casual time-waster type of game. Achievement Hunters- yeah, you will be at this one for a while to hit 100% completion.
And for those who love grinding and grinding and grinding in a really casual game...what the hell is wrong with you???
6/10... get it cheap, or just skip it.
Well, this game is really just the same as its predecessor, "Snow White Solitaire. Charmed Kingdom", with all the good points and all the flaws as the previous iteration. Fun gameplay (note the caveat below), decent power-ups, music that is hopelessly average (not to mention repeated ad nauseum), and graphics that aren't fancy but that certainly do the trick.
There is one major caveat which makes this more of a thumbs-sideways review than an enthusiastic thumbs-up: THE GRIND. When I read a few of the other reviews which mentioned grind, I shrugged it off...."It's a solitaire game," I said to myself, "What kind of grind could there be?". Well, let me tell you....the vast majority of the levels are so obtusely arranged that it is almost invariable (unless you really, REALLY want to play the exact same level seven or eight or nine or more times) that you're going to need a wild card to finish off a level or get you past a critical point. And those joker cards cost money (roughly 1500 gold each). And you only make ~400-500 gold (at best!) per level {heck, most of the time you'll make ~300 gold}, so you can see where this is going (not to mention the achievement for having 20 000 gold pieces).
I personally recommend grinding away (repeatedly) at level 4 for ease of completion, often with high multipliers (you might make 700-800 gold on a good run through).
Anyway, if the idea of playing the same level over and over and over again just to earn enough gold to purchase wild cards so you can progress through the levels at a reasonable pace fills you with dread, then DON'T purchase this game (stick with the first one)!
Final verdict is still a recommendation, but a very cautious one.
Game breaking bug, reported on oct 2018, still not fixed in dec 2019.
Don't buy this.
I'm not sure what these guys are trying to prove. I'm on level six. There's about 40 cards on the board. A bunch of them are covered in rocks. I have no wild cards available, and the deck draw is 15. Isn't this supposed to be a fun, casual game? Recommended for people who love to bash their heads against the wall over and over.
This one is much better than the first one because it's a lot more difficult. I think I spent an hour on level 3 lol. It's harder to get coins and def harder to 3-star each level.
I've complained about the first one being too easy so I'm glad this one is harder.
Good Solitaire game. Those mini games are still annoying though. 9/10.
Snow White Solitaire - Legacy of Dwarves has beautiful artwork similar to the first installment in the Snow White series. The music is the same. You play solitaire and solve a jigsaw or hidden object puzzle now and then. The story is told through occasional dialogue between the characters. Sounds mellow and relaxing, right?
Well, I find this game really frustrating for one simple reason. There is a mechanic that requires you to get at least one star on each level to progress. This means you have to leave no more than 2 cards on every level. Some of the levels are really difficult with small drawdecks. Replaying them over and over again disrupts the gameflow. When you do finally beat them, there is no sense of accomplishment. Merely a sense that "I got lucky that time."
6 hours in, I haven't bought a single amulet to upgrade my power-ups, as I spend all my gold on Wild Cards to advance the story.
Emerland Solitaire had a similar mechanic, but they were really even-handed about it. You had to get half the layouts perfect in each chapter to get perfect for that chapter. Instead of needing to one-star every level, maybe the devs could set it that we need to get 6/12 stars per area? Alternately, just remove this mechanic altogether or create a casual mode where it is not a factor.
If it wasn't for this one single thing (which completely undermines my enjoyment of this game), I would wholeheartedly recommend Snow White - Legacy of Dwarves.
