Roleplay Driven
The game is completelly designed to allow the player to develop their character into the game's story, while at the same time interacting with other players, and being able to define the future with their actions, and, as time passes, these characters will grow old and pass away, allowing the player to play with their next generations progressively, and experience an exciting timeline.
Players in Azusa can develop their character into being almost anyone, or anything, from a simple baker working in a castle, to an engineer that builds a prosperous city, or even a strong and brave hunter that becomes a Guardian of Olympo, granted with enough powers to protect or destroy the world, or even a retired Guardian that uses his final years to teach and train young guardians to protect future generations!
In Azusa's universe villains are also other players, making it even possible to completely destroy a prosperous city, changing the direction of the game's story!
Guardians
Since mythological eras, Hades has been trying to turn earth into his realm by killing every creature, however, when evil appears, young heroes wearing the legendary olympian armors, with fists strong enough to cut the sky and open craters on earth, risk their lives to save the world! They are known as Olympian Guardians, and, being backed by the Gods in Olympo, Zeus, Poseidon and Athena, they fight to define the destiny of earth!
These armors were organized in two different tiers: The ordinary guardians, who are based off creatures, showing their roles of protecting the creation, and the golden guardians, whose armors were directly crafted by the gods, and usually fight to protect them. The golden armors are organized in groups: Elites, the one assigned for those who fight for Zeus; Marines, for those who protect Poseidon and the ocean; Zodiac, for those responsible of protecting Athena's Temple; And Princes, for those responsible of keeping order in the underworld.
Each armor has a unique playstyle and set of skills, making the combat be a unique mixture of strategy and real time action, while also assuring that each battle is completely dynamic and unpredictable.
Guardians are picked by "destiny" as they fight in Elemental Arenas that are scattered around the entire world. Kids are commonly sent to train and grow into dangerous zones to, one day, be gifted with one of these legendary armors and, using their cosmo energy, manage to manipulate the armors' elements, developing new techniques and unique builds/playstyle.
Underworld
After dying, the player in the Azusa world goes to the Underworld, the realm of Hades, which has been redesigned by himself to be a place of suffering and punishment for humans. With the aid of suffering, Hades is able to annihilate all that is good in the souls of those who perished, transforming them into ferocious and ruthless beings called Reapers. Now, wearing the Armor of the Underworld, the Reapers' main goal are to spread death and chaos across Earth.
In other words, a friend long dead may return as a villain trying to kill you and destroy everything he once loved. As the great wars continue, the destruction between nostalgic battles makes up perfect dramatic scenes in this world of Roleplay.
When you finally die, you will descend into Yomotsu Mountain, and find yourself near Hell's Gate.
In the Underworld, information is present for newcomers, explaining how the sections of Hell are and what they are for, with those being numerous jails or prisons.
After crossing the gates of Hell, you will be in the first valley of the first prison. This valley is the edge of the Acheron River, where the indecisive souls spend their eternity trying to cross the river in an infinite loop. There is a way to cross the Acheron River, and it is only through the Raft of Souls. To call the raft, you must drop all the money on the shore and give up your past life. The Soul Raft will then take you to the second valley: Hell's Court.
In this hall you will find the Book of Judgments. Written the names of the dead and their main sin, once you read that book, you will be judged, and then taken to one of the 16 valleys within the 8 prisons of the Underworld.
You will not be able to walk through prisons as a normal soul. You will be there until you become a Reaper or, if you find yourself lucky, you end up being rescued. Every prison has it's own sufferings, and each one of those functions as a training method unique to that area. Once you can master the sufferings and enter the world of nightmares, you will be able to end your agonies by killing your good side. It will be a difficult battle, but if you end up on the winning side, you will return as a Reaper, the main villains of the game, who can roam freely through the prisons of the Underworld.
Character Customization
Create a unique character by customizing your appearance through numerous combinations of hair and clothing, and play with one of the 5 races in the Azusa universe. Not just Humans, you can unlock special races like Angels, Demons, Kappas and Lemurians. The choice is yours!
You have the freedom to develop a perfect match for your playstyle as you can decide the talents your character will have, being able to increase directly each status you gain. However, Azusa's character customization is not limited to the creation window. While you are playing, you will be able to discover many differents training methods, and even be trained by several masters as they will also define how strong your character will be. Your adventure will not only define the history of the world around you, but also the unique attributes of each character.
Civilian, Masters and Fighters
There are 3 main classes in the game, which will define most of your adventure in Azusa. Even though fights and powers are commonly used to set the fate of the world, Azusa's universe is not simply about battles and conflicts. Each one of these classes will define the importance and the role you will play.
The Civilian class holds most traits of utility, tending to have a common lifestyle. Do not think, however, that civilians are determined to be weak, for they too can become powerful Guardians. The civilizans are the only ones able to learn all the civil traits at once, allowing them to be builders, doctors, tailors, barbers etc. And generally they are the richest classes of the game, able to build homes, furniture, create stores and even more!
People in the Masters class are great at training friends or students, as their traits help them increase the status gains of who they are training with. Masters can also develop fighting styles that will increase players' chances of a critical attack, counter-attack, or even a combo of consecutive hits.
Fighters are the ones who have the best fighting potential as their traits increase their talents (How fast they will gain status), but only your style of play will define how strong you really can be!
Each class depends each other. Use the money in game to interact and get help from other players! In addition, each class can learn a single random civil trait, so it is possible to roll a fighter with medical trait, for example.
Training Methods and Ranks
In Azusa, there are many ways to become stronger. You can become one of the most powerful players in the game simply by Roleplay, but there are still several other things you can do to see some progression. Most of these training methods should be learned from other players, mainly players with Ranks.
Ranks are characters with an important global position, such as, but not limited to: The king of a city, a god, a golden Guardian, a hermit living in a forest etc. To become a character with one of these positions you must be responsible and fit that role, leading the history of the game as such. Some of the main functions of these ranks are to teach and train future Guardians, ensuring the fluidity and dynamism of the story.
There are more than 28 training methods so far to be learned, with they being mainly organized in 3 styles: Active trainings, half "afk" (Away from keyboard) training and action training. Action training usually doesnt need to be learned, since they are simply stuff like punching a sandbag or sparing with friends or masters. Active training methods require you to concentrate and reach certain arrow directions. These methods are the most efficient, and the greater your concentration, the greater are your gains. Half "afk" methods are the easiest to use, being the act of your character training alone, not needing the player to constantly pay attention to what's happening at that moment.
The active training methods are organized into three categories: Meditation, Cosmo Charge and Shadow Sparing. You can increase your mastery in these categories while you train a method on them, but there are two different types of active training across these categories, simply called "local training" and "normal training". Local training can only be used in certain areas of the world, like, for example, a method of trying to reverse the flow of waterfalls can only be used near a waterfall, so it is a local training. Local training increases your Elemental Control, and depending on the element of your cosmos, affects the damage of your elemental technique.
So, training in the desert, Asgard, or any of the different biomes in the Azusa world will build your character in different ways!
Biomes
You can adventure through the many biomes in the Azusa world. Each biome has its own unique possible local training and architecture, and are commonly protected by different gods. There are also different materials in each zone of the Azusa world, so if you are an explorer you can travel and commercialize resources around the world and gain decent profit, learn different architecture styles and of course, fight for the justice or destruction of a region!
Dungeons
Administrators also have the freedom to make custom dungeons, zones filled with challenges, traps, puzzles and unique enemies that protect important secrets or treasures. Some canonical dungeons already exist in the game while others are created as global history progresses, allowing players to discover new places never seen before as they look for treasures that can help them win wars and protect the world.
Relics and Treasures
Relics are objects similar to Armors, forged with a certain amount of cosmo energy inside, turning them into treasures capable of giving someone powers and techniques. Most relics hold a unique utility, others only hold an extra amount of power, but all of them are usually keys to decide a battle, some relics are so powerful that they can even overpower the Guardians' Armors themselves!
However, these artifacts are usually collected by thieves or mythological creatures, and are commonly protected by them in dungeons. However, there are also custom relics made by experienced Lemurians. The relics utility vary in almost everything, from relics able to burn or poison your enemies, to relics that are able to absorb blasts or deflect them. It will all depend on your luck as you explore the game's world!
Time Travel And Custom Gods
The amount of things you can do and change in Azusa's universe is unlimited, thanks to custom gods and time travel, systems that further enhance Roleplay's ability to affect and change history.
With time travel, you can experience situations and events never seen before in other online games, such as going back to a point in the Azusa's base history and find canonical heroes, or even travel back in the distant past and find characters that one day were played by other people. These events can even be influenced or changed by the presence of travelers! However, time travels are very rare events that can affect the future on a grand scale, and when these drastic changes happen, global story is reviewed and a "Time Skip" can happen (Leaps in time of 80 years), sending all players in the actual present to their next generation, where the changes would be applied. It is worth mentioning that the time travel system is a complex mechanic, usually managed by one or more administrators, who, combined with the Roleplay system, allows almost infinite mutability in the development of game history.
These journeys are also used to complement the base story, causing travelers to participate in or assist canonical events, not necessarily resulting real changes in the universe, but rather ensuring that such events have indeed taken place, like, for example, joining the moment that Hades rebelled against Zeus for the first time, ending up perhaps being responsible for the first Great Wars that takes much of Azusa's lore.
Custom Gods is a system that allows for new gods to emerge to further complement the game's history, depending on whether that god can be revived or discovered, as can be created by the players, generating with it a completely new direction for the main plot of this universe.
Trial Systems
Azusa features a system that promotes the interaction between the players, and even motivates them to explore the game's universe and history, developing their characters on the process.
Similar to how tabletop RPG masters lead a campaign, administrators can modify a set of choices, tests, effects, depending on whatever's going on in the story. For example: A player can find a book in a library shelf that mentions the location of a dungeon, and after talking about it in public, a group ends up going to the right place to explore it, and as they may end up falling into a hidden cave, they would go through various challenges, traps, enemies, all depending on the roll of dices, quality of roleplaying and of course, the outcome of it all would be completely dependant on what choices they made on their way through. As a result, administrators are always able to scale up possible adventures along with the events explored by players. The trial system intertwines with several other mechanics like, for example, trials and adventures that serve as training so that young Guardians can learn new methods of training, how to awaken the Sixth Sense, or even trials whose result ends up releasing a new area of the game, with new ranks or gods.
What differs the trial system from other MMORPG quests is that the trials are usually only completed once, with the main function of judging situations whose outcome can completely change the course of the game's history. And, as trials are made and things are going on in history, managers can always create new adventures or challenges that fit the previous results, ensuring the fluency promised by the style of the game focused on Roleplay, allowing the game experience to always be unique, since the adventure can not simply be repeated or undone.

I personally really like this game due to the role play aspect and the players who are most of the time nice and helpful to anyone who is not a ass, All together this game is one of the best 2D games I have played.
Honestly, i've been playing this game in the past, and it never dissapointed me, knowing there is always good people to have fun with, they always help you when you need them, admins are always active to help you out as well.
Since i brought this game and had my first experience for some weeks, i can tell it was worth it and i don't think of stopping this for a looooooong time, the system and graphics are out of question, because they are really well made for such game style.
There is people who hate this game because either they don't know how to play, or just don't follow rules, as of me, i haven't got any problems, i'm having fun and i can just ignore the haters as there is always a hater in each online game.
But also in this game you create your own story as the game is very unique in it's own style, and if you know Saint Seiya, you have to be proud to be proud to live in this generation, as many people don't understand how good this game is once you know how to play it.
The community is also good, there isn't any toxic kids in there (well there is rule they should follow to not be toxic or they will just leave the game forever forcefully).
I can't tell anyone to get or not get this game, but i can tell it will be a life changing moment for you "Roleplayers" out there.
I was intrigued by the idea of this game despite some misgivings about its unpolished style. But being on sale I figured I'd give it a try anyway and see how it went as I've enjoyed solid, literate RP on many other games.
The Brazilian server seems to have a decent population, but during primetime US gaming hours there were only 5 people on the English server and no one around the starting area you spawn into.
I did try the "RP for ratings" and typed up some things which I received points for fairly quickly, so that's a plus. There appears to be active moderation if you're undeterred by low pop.
I'm a sucker for niche indies so I wasn't expecting AAA gameplay here, but this game was not fun to play on its own compared to any number of singleplayer RPGs I have on my account, and without the people part of the equation it's not something I see myself sinking time into so it's been refunded.
I hate when I buy a game that's just a waste of time. The concept is great, the implementation of it........No.
Great game needs more community management. Terrible behavior is encouraged
Post several characters and community killing me off to get the owners attention
Still a trash circle of power gamers controlling the developer. So much so I was actively targeted and killed for the sake of "progression" because several players wanted to get under his skin. People within the game cannot operate without bullying people because they lack creativity and no one can tell them otherwise. The owner refuses to clean out toxic behavior the game has slowly dwindled and lost a lot of its key players and admins. A great game with amazing customizing options, not enough pruning and punishing bad behavior.
A really nice game which mainly involves RP. The dev keeps updating and adding in more content which is nice, but the lack of English moderators and the poor translations for informational guides can be a deterrent/very frustrating for new players.
The general gameplay however is excellent just understand that this is not your traditional "MMORPG" with quest arrows and hand holding. It's a true sandbox game where you decide what your character becomes through interactions and training. The players on the English server are all very helpful and welcoming, the community is pretty great.
The combat is highly unbalanced and without the proper resources to learn how to become a capable player you will quickly become frustrated if you don't build your character to become a force user. (There is no leeway in this game, if you make a mistake you are stuck with it for the lifetime of your character) If you make your character poorly you could have to wait up to a month to remake your character because of the character generation system unless you want to forgoe the benefits of becoming your characters child or next gen. This is in theory a great idea, but in implementation just leads to players either remaking early or remaking ASAP because they aren't happy with their builds.
Sadly the owner only really seems to care about whatever server is the most popular or what players are paying him the most money. During my two months of play the owner really only showed up on the English server when a bunch of BR players had transferred over to our server and then basically halted all RP progression on the server because of his strict needs.
Speaking of money... this game also has P2W elements... I thought I was getting an equal experience with my 20$ payment, but apparently you can pay an additional monthly fee (10$-100$+) in order to earn " Monthly Credits" which can be redeemed for powerful in game relics. (Higher tiers of payments can recieve 5-10 credits per month which means 5-10 relics for that user) Make sure you don't subscribe through Byond... or you get far less benefits for the same cost like I did...
The BR players were leaving their server because BR admins PG with other players in order to gain an upper hand from what I was told by a majority of them but I suppose as long as the owner is being paid it really doesn't matter what you do ICLY or OOCLY. At least that's the feeling I got.
This game has a lot of potential but the owner doesn't understand while he might be a decent coder that does not make him a decent admin as well. He also doesn't take suggestions very well. When I gave him evidence about why the travel system should be changed he essentially told me I was wrong and that I didn't know what I was talking about. But one month later I find out he's now working on a revamp of a new travel system because I had a discussion with another player about that topic...
While he did credit me for the change, it's annoying when someone seems incapable of listening to someone who wants to help their game grow and doesn't seem intelligent enough to do so themselves.
I can't say I didn't have fun with this game, but I had an especially privileged first generation character. You'll probably see me playing more in game because despite the enourmous downsides of the game I do love a majority of the player base and many of the game mechanics.
Okay so first thing first. If you are new to a game in which the players control nearly every aspect of a game you need to come into Azusa with an open mind. The learning curb to this game requires interaction with other players, but through that interaction you gain Roleplay points that ultimately give you the ability to better your character. It is a time consuming game so those who leave a negative review who have only spent a few minutes in the game before leaving a big negative review honestly have not gave it a fair chance. So far in my lifetime I have had 3 characters in the game which you really need to be open minded and play the role you choose. If you want to gain strength to take on other fighters in the game being a civilian probably is not the way to go.
My first guy was a fighter which I picked to more or less learn the mechanics of the game. I was surrounded by players who were very good at role playing and very helpful in getting me started in it. I didn't really like how my story was developing so when my first guy hit 60 I killed him off to start again.
The next character I created was a civilian. Probably one of the most badass characters I'll create in Azusa. I wasn't focused on building up my power or combating evil forces. I built things for myself and other people. The character I made no shit had a positive influence on the world around me. I cooked good food to share with the friends I made in the world. I really felt like I was important to the game.
All in all I believe the game is well worth the price and can be a pleasant experience for all who play it.
10 hours in and i only had 2 conversations so far.
This game need players to make players have fun, and currently there is so little players and every one is on different maps.
The game is certainly interesting but as for now the community is too little to even enjoying yourself.
I'll give it a thumb up for potential.
If you aren't invest in that reason then wait until community grow a little bigger.
This game is an absolute waste of your time, the owner literally couldn't care less about the players and focuses purely on money. Imagine if all the worst gaming companies we hate as gamers hate suddenly combined into a human form and that is the owner of this game. He made THOUSANDS of dollars off of creating a new wipe and through this created numerous bugs that didn't exist prior to this wipe of the server. Instead of fixing them, this leaking trash-bag of a human being decided to milk more money from unsuspecting parent's credit cards with his Pokemon Game, saying he wouldn't release an update for Azusa until PWO was ready (because he wanted to make another few thousand dollars on a wipe/2nd launch of PWO just like he did Azusa)
I can no longer recommend this game to ANYONE. I would sooner recommend a noose to someone as that would be a more productive and useful means of their time than giving one single second to this horribly coded game.
azusa is a game filled with many different aspects to fill a players desires and needs, the games primal aspect focuses on role playing and allowing the players to develop and flesh out character. And if you are fed up with roleplaying games that makes you feel unaccomplished because you did not role play a fight well, here it is different fights are determined by stats so you can actualy participate in these big fights instead of being stuck behind a wall of texts allowing you to live out your own rp fantasy.
So far so good... and it goes uphill.
This game is not your usual RPG... Here the gameplay might seem poor or simple, but the truth is that it just gets the job done and has to be complimented by roleplaying, the strength of this game. I wasn't sure about buying the game at first because good roleplaying comes from a good community rather than a good game, but Azusa delivers and everyone seems to take it seriously, which leads to a very rich world with plenty of interaction.
Have you ever played a game like Skyrim or Fallout and thought "Man, I wish these characters actually behaved like human beings instead of simple NPCs!". Then you might as well give Azusa a try, since most of the interaction is done with players who are indeed human beings.
It's a bit jank and takes some geting used to, but as a fan of rp once I got into some I found the game enjoyable, there are a lot of things people can do to interact and shape the story, so if you are willing to tollerate the $20 cost I think it is worth giving a try.
This game is pretty great, within my first couple of hours I ended up having an ordinary man become an extraordinary person who accidentally encountered super-powered beings and no matter what tried his best to fight them. 10/10 would explore all over again.
There is a joke about how Ark players are the ones that most hate the game.
Yeah, same thing for me with this game. I have spent years giving this game a chance to be better, and time after time it becomes clear that this is a fecalshow.
A bit of context first since the first thing anyone coming across this review will notice is the playtime, I played this game before on BYOND and was a lifetime subscriber, I had hopes of being able to start a private server for my friends, however as of the transition to Pay to Play this is no longer possible.
Azusa online is a strange, strange game, for those who've never even heard of BYOND or anything outside of SS13, Azusa Online is a heavy roleplaying game, rules against metagaming (using knowledge your character shouldn't posses ) and powergaming (Doing things your character wouldn't or shouldn't purely to become more powerful.) are strictly enforced with plenty of other rules in order to create an environment that hopefully encourages healthy roleplaying. Azusa heavily relies upon it's Admin team for duties beyond just moderation, they create custom dungeons, bosses, nake new gods for the game, host events for players, dole out Roleplay points, and manage various other player requests.
Azusa has a pantheon of gods straight from the Greek pantheon, though with an original story for them. Humans can become embued with mystical armor to allow them to fight supernatural threats that threaten the land of Azusa (I'm not sure if the land is some place called Azusa or not, the main play area isn't really named, at first I assumed it was Greece.) These Humans however are not the only champions the gods can call upon, with Angels, Lemurians, Kappas and even Demons being able to join the battle.
Players can become gods themselves and wield power the humans can barely hope to match, often being so powerful that only other gods and groups of super powerful humans can hope to take them down.
This is what I loved about the game at first, however after a hundred hours of playing, the problems reveal themselves. The first and most obvious problem, the Gods. The Gods aren't too annoying when there's a decently sized playerbase like what the game seems to have right now, however when there are maybe 10 players online during peak hours like when I played, trying to fight the Gods is a hopeless endeavor, battles devolve to Humans on the sidelines slapping each other while their respective gods duke it out in an actual battle nearby. The god that wins decides the entire battle, that's how wide the power balance is. I've personally never seen humans defeat a god, but apparently it happens? The last time a "Battle" occured in the game Hades' army led by Pandora invaded Olympo (Or whatever the game calls Olympus) and were winning up until Zeus arrived in a spectral form and demolished Hades' forces. The worst situation I've ever seen was when there were 3 or 4 gods running around with 8 players online, and one of them was so weak compared to the others he had no choice but to hang out in the nearby Dojo, it was Ares. The war god. The war god was so irrelevent to the older gods he had no choice but to grind 24/7. What the fuck.
For roleplaying in the game, you're rewarded with roleplay points, healthy and condusive ro roleplaying right? Wrong. I have no idea why every other roleplaying game on BYOND is so retarded to think that somehow roleplaying by yourself and mechanical training are any different. The former will get you praised, the latter will get you mocked (or worse, banned). While it's great they're trying to remove AFK training methods, the idea that someone going off by themself and typing out how they're totally training by themself is somehow more valid than someone that actually mechanically does this is insane. Grinding for roleplay points is powergaming, and even encourages it, I've seen characters who were calm and passive, throw themselves into a violent frenzy in order to involve themselves in an event and get roleplay points.
Though honestly, roleplay points is a small issue, compared to how grindy this game is, unless you have 2/3rds of your day free you'll never get to be a top tier player. They'll mock someone for coming in with this attitude, but the people who play this game are full of shit, asking you to accept your a background character while getting massive boosts from having played the game for a long time. (Currently this isn't an issue, but should the generation system continue as is, there will be people walking around with 25 stat modifiers as opposed to the 10 new players start out with.) Most people play games in order to get good at it, while there are able to enjoy just being that guy who runs a farm, that's practically suicide in a game where Reapers will inevitably show up and murder everyone and everything in sight.
Oh yeah, Reapers. Reapers are zombie servants of Hades who have much lower standards for killing then other players are allowed, and they're annoying to deal with, they're immortal and dying only respawns them in the underworld, and when they eventually kill someone strong, that person becomes a reaper, anyone who dies is at risk of becoming a reaper unless they willingly pass on (Which requires them to be 80 years old.). So yeah new players that are going to ignore most of my post, prepare yourselves for the one thing that has caused most people that played this game to rage quit.
My final solid point I want to make is that this game shouldn't have been $19. This style of game is untried outside of BYOND, and expecting people to pay so much money for an online only game with 16,000 rules ran by admins that can instantly invalidate their purchase considering there are currently only 3 servers was a terrible idea, potential new players have no way of testing the waters before fully commiting, which is terrible. (For those still interested in playing Azusa but don't want to pay, look up Spires of Agartha, while it's not my cup of tea it's rather similar to Azusa in many regards, but most importantly it's FREE. Don't expect either game to have a decent playerbase however.) I was expecting to be able to use the lifetime subscription I acquired so long ago to host a private server for my friends, away from the insanity on the main servers, but now I'll never be able to do that because my friends will never pay money to play some BYOND game they've no faith in. Thanks. Honestly this is my main point of contention, I could ignore and live with every other issue and recommend if the game was free, but now the game is on an even steeper death spiral than it was on before.
Every thing from here on you should take with a grain of salt, this is just my personal experiences with the community at large, and you can experience that for yourself and come away with a different take.
The current head admin was caught abusing their position and was removed. For god knows what reason they're in charge again, I assume they pleaded up and down that they would never do it again, whatever. The community for this game is incredibly awful. The "veterans" pretty much take each other's sides in player issues whenever possible, if you're new then your opinion isn't valid, you're a new guy. They won't need an actual argument either, they just shoot down any complaints someone might have. You heard me right, not suggestions, but complaints, if you have a problem with the game it's YOUR fault. Soon after the current head admin was removed, there was another admin who was apparently around briefly (I was avoiding the game at the time due to the insanity of the playerbase.) and actually punished a veteran for abusing a bug, and had the players at large turn against him because he dared punish someone they liked. The owner is alright, when I interacted with him directly without any of the "veterans" around he was alright, however the veterans will activley interject themselves into conversations that don't involve them when they are around and shoot you down, effectivley having created a bubble around him where all new player complaints are treated as "dumb n00bz cant rp/play!"
Also the game contains an overt refrence to SS, remove it.
Azusa is a great game, if you just give it 5 minutes and refund because you dont understand then you are missing out. Their are a some heavily negative reviews because of this, their is even somone who lost to a literal chikens, blamed the admins and the left a bad review. To explain this game in a summerized review (because I could go on for 5 paragraphs) Azusa is a game were you can be almost anyone you want, but the fact that it is a game, limits you just enough that you can have both heartbreacking losses and incredible comebacks. Please give this a chance, or a else you wont get to meet my character, the demon who wanders hell looking for reapers to train. Ocasionaly posing as a normal member of society so he can backstab them and make them possibly take one back to hell before he is killed by the op angels.
Great game, takes a little while to get into it and learn all the features but once you do it's so cool! Due to the setting it starts a little slow, but it's very engaging!
At first I wasn't sure about this game, it takes a bit to get used to. The best way to progress is to roleplay with other people, it still has a grinding aspect in case other people aren't around at the time you're on to roleplay with.
I've been having a lot of fun with it, it truly is a make your own experience with a little help from the admins here and there.
Without spoiling anything, literally had an admin take the form of something and propelled the storyline forward, giving me a choice to make to see how my character would handle it.
Don't come in thinking you're going to craft a weapon immediately and kill everything. This is a marathon not a sprint and you'll meet a lot of people along the way, it's up to you to create an experience.
So far I've spawned in as a 10 year old child, met some random kids, went on a "quest" to sneak in a temple and find a book that only the powerful could read. Got caught by two players who held us captive for a bit and tried to extort gold out of us, then let us go after realizing we were poor and a bit crazy because we attacked a chicken that flew out of the sky onto the roof we were on. Then met some more people.... did some gathering to make some coin to buy a sword. Then admin surprise happened and encountered something no child should, got interupted by another player who I found out has a dark side. Ran into some more people while training at the punching bags and helped kickstart the economy by giving what gold I had saved up to a player who became a blacksmith so he could start making swords and armor for people.
10/10 great experience so far and worth the money.
Comming from someone who's liked Byond games, this game has such poorly implemented mechanics, and they only exist to deter roleplay and frustrate the players.
I thought maybe the game had changed, definetly not worth this amount of money. I should have known better.
Edit: I'm curious how this game has 48 reviews, mostly positive, when the game died to only 12 concurrent players in the first couple weeks of release, and the majority are Brazilian.
yes, it's BYOND engine
yes, it's jank
But, it's pretty good
UI isn't that bad like some say
