Interesting puzzle game with great visuals. The difficulty ramps up quickly near the end.

A real audiovisual treat attached to a somewhat flawed yet satisfying block puzzle. An absolute bargain.
This was better than I expected it to be. The visual and sound design is very good, and the puzzles held my interest well enough to complete all ten levels in one sitting. The difficulty increases as new elements are introduced, however the game is very forgiving in that you never lose progress. If the board gets locked it just resets and you pick up right where you left off with a new board, so there is really no way to fail. Overall a pleasant 2-3 hour experience; certainly worth the dollar I paid for it on sale.
a different take on match 3 games
quite easy and short but pretty nice to play and well executed with good visuals
This is a game that I usually only play when I have a little time to spare (like waiting water to boil, waiting a timer on the oven, etc) it can be relaxing... at the beginning. After some levels, difficulty starts really increasing, and that's why I only play it from time to time. Music is very soft and atmospheric, and visuals are okay and colorful.
I recommend... but you need to have patience. It's a puzzle game.
Entertaining game with beautiful visuals and great soundtrack. It's a nice twist on the typical match 3 genre.
Relaxing
Kenshō's rich and colorful presentation is the highlight of this simple zen puzzle game with limited options.
Line up 3 or more tiles of same type to obtain keys required to move on to the next level by displacing all grid tiles simultaneously in one of four directions. Special tiles with varied behaviors are added to the mix along the way to spice up the gameplay.
With two types of puzzles, only one demands real strategic thinking while the other can often be achieved almost by luck or accident. In fact many times it is easier to obtain subsequent keys simply by filling the grid randomly and restarting the level with a fresh grid, as each key obtained remains.
This no death penalty is both a bonus and a malus. It makes the game overall much easier and relaxing but it unfortunately also has the side effect of making it a little boring. It is as if the development team could not figure out a proper way to fine-tune their game mechanics precisely and resorted to a compromise.
Secondary door puzzles seen in between each world are actually more satisfying to complete than the main game mode. While door puzzles don't vary much in style, each new world introduces one new mechanic that combines with previous ones, usually with increased difficulty.
Positive
- Great soundtrack, mood and visual ambiance
- Good controller support has been added since launch
- Zen, no time limit, no death, very relaxing
- Strange abstract narrative segments in between each main level add to the mystery of this imaginative world
Negative
- Unfulfilled gameplay potential
- Lack of challenge leaves the main game mode somewhat unsatisfying half the time

Despite the fact that I constantly felt an itch to play something else every 2 levels or so, I did enjoy the game's peaceful vibes and original ideas. I hope that developer 52's next game offers tighter and more fine-tuned gameplay mechanics in the same style.
Beautiful and challenging puzzler. Great twist on the match 3 genre, with eye candy graphics and fantastic sound. Highly recommended.

lol... me & my girlfriend had gone mad for this game ... we bought this game on steam + mac app store + apple tvOS ... literally playing it everywhere ! too bad the steam version dont support steam cloud tho
Although I think this game is overall good, I can't quiet recommend this game.
This game is visual and sound focused, tile moving puzzle. 3 same color tiles have to align horizontal or vertical. Rest part is like 1024.
Visuals, graphics, sounds, and other things are EXCELLENT, but gameplay design itself is opposite.
- Difficulty rises too quickly. Every level, you will be introduced with new mechanic of the puzzle. This game should have many 'sub levels'(like 1-1, 1-2, ...), to players get familiar with them and enjoy more of level.
- Gameplay depends on luck too much as game progresses. In later levels, I found myself suicide every time after I collect a single key piece. I think this problem comes from too small board size; Many mechanics are not suitable with 5x5. How can I move tiles strategically where over 1/4 of board is blocked by non-moving stones?
- Overall playtime is short, in perspective of 'length' of the game.
- Replay value is low. Also after you beat the game, you can play all previous levels, However, even if you select level 1, EVERY previous levels will randomly pop up. It's like just selecting background and music, not 'level'. Separate 'Random' option is needed.
Every other things are OK. So, this game will be perfect when those problems are solved.
It's a good game. When I finally understood everything about this game, it became immensely more satisfying to solve. It doesn't overstay its welcome, and is incredibly well-priced. Personally, though, I think it would be best played on mobile devices, especially considering the lack of uncapped FPS and edge-aliasing. All in all, though, this is a little gem that needs more attention.
very nice game, work with graphic and music on a nice lvl, especially moments when music and visual effects work toghether while everything changing, puzzles lvl about middle, little story - pretty nice, not boring, not exited, but a pretty nice detail
in general - 7/10 as for a little game for chill
a tile matching game with the usual assortment of different block types, some move, some don't, some are helpful, some are just in the way, and your goal is to collect key fragments on every stage and unlock the door to the next level. there are 10 of them with up to 5 stages in each, which doesn't sound much and it isn't, the game can be completed in about 2 hours, but I found it really enjoyable and very relaxing. in this respect it reminded me of the excellent glass masquerade. not much of a challenge but looks beautiful and the music is fantastic.
there's no move or time limit, when you tilt the board, tiles move if they can and a new one appears, you can see on the left what color, so can plan ahead a bit. what makes it even less challenging and more relaxing (which might be a plus for some and a negative for others) is that every stage is random and while you 'faii' when the screen fills up and there are no more moves, you'll get a new setup immediately and can continue without losing any progress, so it's just a matter of time until you succeed.
points are awarded for matches, bonus points for matching more than 3 of a kind, but just like on whose line is it anyway?, points don't matter and there's no way of knowing how many you got in total, seems a bit pointless to have them in the game in the first place. there's some narrative in the level selection/hub area but I wouldn't call it a story, just some motivational sentences here and there, doesn't add much but I didn't mind it either.
the door puzzles between levels are fixed and involve placing the keys where they belong by moving all of them at the same time. these aren't difficult at all either, might take a few tries but it's more about mixing things up than putting an obstacle in your way, and after completing all 10 levels, an 11th door opens up, which seems like an endless mode of sorts, but after level 10 is done, you can replay the original levels as well.
it is clearly a mobile game but plays fine on pc, I had no problems with the controls or anything, but as usual, volume sliders are not included. that said, if you're not looking for a challenge but want something nice to fiddle with and listen to, pick it up, though you might want to wait for a sale depending on how much you're willing to pay.
Kenshō is not for the light-of-heart when it comes to puzzle fans. If you want more bite (and a whole lot of visual polish) out of your mind-benders, it's hard to go wrong with Kenshō. The game is gorgeous and runs beautifully on my iffy laptop. The controls are simple and make sense. I haven't beat it, but I do plan on dropping in from time to time to keep at it. :)
