Developer's Note
This is the desktop version of my push-your-luck card game Brave Hand. Please expect Brave Hand to be a small, replayable, solitaire-like card game where your goal is to beat your previous score, and unlock a light story along the way. I made it because I loved the simple yet replayable games that came with my first computer, and wanted something like them, but with just a little more strategy. If the main "Brave" mode is too hard or too random for your taste, be sure to try out the other modes! Each mode is designed to cater to a specific type of playstyle. About the Game

I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

It's a press your luck card game that's fun for about 10 minutes at a time.
cute game, pretty gambley - a lot of the negative reviews are complaining about how solitaire ought to be winnable if played thoughtfully. that's not this game, it's faster-paced, and that is simply how life is. not every solitaire game ever invented had winnability as a goal - many of them are glorified no-stakes gambling experiences, And That's Okay (TM)
I recommend it, it's cheap, fun concept
The mobile game stuff (collect your free coins after 15 minutes!) and the gambling theming (push your luck or cash in?) feels gross and off-theme. If this game is meant to be story-centric and moody, why not something minimal like getting rid of the points system and just unlocking new story after defeating a certain number of enemies?
Given the lack of mood, the gameplay is also not interesting enough, just feels like pure luck.
I regret not writing something positive earlier. This game is just excellent and addicting. Great for a 15 minute break, but you want just one or two more tries.

Push your luck mechanics are less impactful if the primary feedback loop is contained to a single run. Without meta pressures the moment to moment play struggles.

Nice relaxing cardgame, probably intended for a touchpad though.
I enjoy playing solitaire games knowing that I can successfully win if played correctly, or even just get a good score based on my skill in a game. In Brave Hand, it's too much about luck and if dealt a bad hand, you are pretty much screwed right away. For me, it boils down to a couple of hours of gameplay and a pile of frustration. I'm not going to talk about the story because it's hardly there and I did not understand why you are collecting it randomly and not chronologically. I don't doubt that some people enjoy the challenge of beating their high score against the odds but that's just not my preference. The amount of luck/skill importance reminded me of Onirim, though I'd say that one is a bit more forgiving. Out of all the different modes, I enjoyed Dungeon Run the most because it provides longer games with a higher probability of having a good score.
All of this I could push aside as a just-not-my-type-of-game-problem not the-game-problem. I can't push aside the poor port from mobile though. The vertical playable mobile window slapped onto 16:9 background with no effort whatsoever. Pretty infuriating is the X in the corner that doesn't quit to the main menu but quits the game to desktop without even asking if you really want to quit the game. While shuffling through menu options you have the X in the corner of the big screen and a back button in the mobile window, clicking in the big X in the corner on pc is pretty much an automatic move. Collecting coins for buffs in real time is also a thing that should have been left in the free mobile version.
So overall, for some people this might work, for me, it definitely didn't. But if you are not sure, try the game for free on mobile first before purchasing it.
Really clever and cheap solitaire card game that was easy to learn. Loved the art too
While the game is cheap and can hold your interest for maybe an hour or so, it ultimately is a very hollow and shallow experience resulting in not much more than frustration. What I like about digital solitaire is that I can enable "always possible to win if played perfectly" mode, ensuring that I can replay and discover how I could have improved my performance. However, there is no option for that here. There are random situations where you can literally lose on the first turn due to a bad deal -- like having a hand of all low cards and every pile being top decked with high ones. Sure, you can just "start over" (although oddly there isn't a restart option, you have to exit to the menu and then go back into a game), but it just takes the feeling of an interesting puzzle to figure out and turns it into an exercise of futility. Also, the scoring system encourages pushing your luck, but it scales so dramatically and becomes an "all or nothing" situation that is largely based on nothing but sheer randomness. Same with the random scouting rolls... you could have 5 out of 6 piles available to scout and simply roll poorly resulting in losing a card for nothing.
The art is great and music decent, but that's about it. The game was obviously mobile first and the port leaves a lot to be desired. There are times when it isn't clear that you need to "click and drag" to move things in menus. And the lack of a "Restart" button seems odd.
But all the cosmetic and UI/UX stuff aside, the gameplay simply falls flat. I wish there was more depth and interesting things going on (see the solitaire card game "Card Crawl" as a game that at least somewhat works or the slightly better "Card Thief"). The sheer randomness and variance in "Brave Hand" is just too much and often feels like an exercise in futility where you're simply at the mercy of luck and nothing else. Something where "if you beat a card by exactly 1 higher you 'scout' the next card" or something going on to add more decision making would be an easy addition to improve it a lot. Or removing the dice rolling for scouting and just letting you pick two decks (or only roll available spots). Or doing something in the design to simply reduce the sheer lack of control. Ugh.
Games are largely about meaningful and interesting decisions, and that's where this game falls flat. There are few decisions and ways to increase your skill. The other modes offer a slight twist on things, but even they are such tiny variations as to not really fix the core issues with the game itself. "Boost Mode" feels odd because you're spending in-game currency (that you usually get by playing the default way) to get bonuses? And you could just get a bad deal and instantly lose, thus having to pay money again to play the mode. Huh, who thought that was a good design decision? Also, by just waiting you can get Gold coins? Why?
If you enjoy the card "game" (more like activity) of "War" then you might also like this... but for almost everyone else I'd say skip it.

Fun little game, not overly complicated to learn but addictive. You can tell it was a mobile game before a PC game however. It was not meant to be displayed at ultra wide settings which is sad because the artwork is nice.
For the price I cannot complain much about the game. It is good for some mindless fun. Also the added achievements and badges are a nice touch too! ❤️
A very moreish solitaire-type game, for not even $2. Easy to dip in and out of, great for when you have a few minutes to kill.
