A solid indie-horror, escape type of game where you're a kidnapped child that has to play games with a lunatic in order to advance.
There are some obvious assets in the game and even when the textures are set to ultra, they are still very low. The voice acting is pretty bad and the villain gets extremely annoying after a while.
Regardless, a good indie-horror with a few endings and secrets.
Legitimately bad linear puzzle game without any real puzzles.
My wife likes to watch me play horror games so we've played quite a few at this point, some good and some bad.
This one's about a child who gets kidnapped and tortured and the whole game you're waiting for some kind of turn or comeuppance or payoff for all the stuff this kid goes through. And at least in the ending I got, there never is one. At several points, you're forced into hopeless situations where you have to submit to your captor and let him have his way with you. It'll even let you press F to struggle but it's in vain. It's a bit too far, in my opinion.
Games, especially horror games, don't need to have happy endings, but this one just feels cruel, tactless, and pointless. "Press F to give up" smh.
And the gameplay sucks too lol.
This was an amazing traumatizing game!!! Great job!
Game has no save system - this fact MUST BE specified at the game's store page but it is not - so keep it in mind if you want to buy it. Yes you must complete it in one session.
It is just ridiculous as for me.
This game isnt new, but it is new to me, and i have been looking for something like this, that binds relatively logical puzzles and clues to move ahead in the game. The atmosphere is well written. can be confusing at times but its good. I am looking forward to playing the second game in the series. thanks to the devs for a classic horror game..............DONT BE AFRAID..... ps THE ONLY THING i AM MISSING ARE PROMPTS, NARRATION AND SUBTITLES. i DONT KNOW IF THEY TOOK IT AWAY BUT IT WOULD CERTAINLY BE HELPFUL
I thought this game looked mediocre so I waited to play it. It's actually pretty fun though. I should have played it earlier.
Cool game, considering the replayability it requires to gain the full experience, it could use a bit of polishing and optimization, nice experience nonetheless
This is a work of Art.
Hello to you, the makers of this game. I introduce myself to you. I am Shadi Gamer. I played this game on the live broadcast and did not feel terrified for one second. Just me and the viewers. Can you contact me to reach a solution? I am one of the most famous streamers in Shawish neighborhood.
This spooky little game is perfect for when you're in the mood to get creeped out by a sadistic psychopath, especially with a cozy cup of tea and a burning candle while it rains outside. It really kept me on the edge of my seat (though I should admit, I get jumpscared pretty easily just from a Discord notification sometimes). The puzzles offered a nice challenge without being so easy that you’d lose interest. Overall, I had a great time playing it! 🖤

this game is covering the setting option and i stuck in here and this game not reseted forever. and didnt showed me setting option
A short but entertaining puzzle adventure in the spirit of "Amnesia", exactly how I like it. It managed to give me a few scares even at my age haha
It's aight. Voice acting was cringe. Wasn't really that scary. Had some fun puzzles though. As someone who plays horror games for the "horror" aspect, this one just wasn't it.
Spooky puzzle game with multiple endings; enjoyed it! Might play again for a different ending.
A surprisingly good horror game with puzzles. As a puzzle enthusiast, I enjoyed every minute of it.
Don't Be Afraid Review
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
Don't Be Afraid offers a unique and unsettling horror experience that truly gets under your skin. Playing as David, a young child abducted by the twisted Franklin, you’re thrown into a dark, oppressive world where escape feels impossible. The game does an excellent job of making you feel vulnerable, especially since you have no way to defend yourself. It’s all about stealth, exploration, and surviving the terror that lurks in every shadow.
Pros:
Disturbing Atmosphere: The dark environments and creepy audio make every room feel threatening, with mannequins that move when you’re not looking and unsettling recordings that hint at Franklin’s twisted past.
Psychological Horror: The horror is more psychological than jump-scares, creating a constant sense of dread as you navigate through Franklin’s nightmare.
Immersive Storytelling: Clues about Franklin’s past and the house's previous victims are hidden throughout, adding depth and a morbid curiosity to uncover more.
Cons:
Tedious Chase Scenes: Some chase sequences can disrupt the tension, feeling repetitive and frustrating when you’re forced to retry multiple times.
Hidden Items: Important items can be hard to spot, which sometimes makes progression feel slow as you backtrack to find something you missed.
Limited Endings: While the game has multiple endings, they can be difficult to achieve without outside help, which may discourage some players from replaying.
Overall, Don't Be Afraid is a memorable horror game for fans of psychological suspense. It’s a twisted, nerve-wracking experience that will stay with you long after you’ve turned it off. Not for the faint-hearted, but if you enjoy immersive horror, this is a journey worth taking.
The puzzling is very clever and you'll need several tries to unlock the endings Read the story description to see if you are a bit squeamish about the content. It's just enough over the top to put it in the category of teen slasher movies but with a younger cast. There are no real jump scares and the title, "Don't be afraid" explains perfectly how you should play this game. Be brave and save yourself! Good achievements, all doable and I encountered no bugs.
Игра для маньяка, любителям выполнять любого рода заданий, не нашёл путь как выбраться от туда
Don't be afraid is one hell of a dark journey. Immensely enjoyable, with the game's puzzles being very unique to this type of genre. The whole experience is immersive and the characters you interact with are so well developed they really contribute to the feeling you have of playing as a helpless child in an insane and frightening world.
Great story, excellent graphics and an equally good soundtrack.
Plus the option of multiple endings leaves this open to much re-playability.
It's relatively short, but it's a good game, specially if you get it in a sale.
I
Decent experience for $0.99 but wouldn't be impressed had I paid more
"don't be afraid"
Okay. I won't. It doesn't take much convincing with this one.
I want to preface by saying that I would rate the scares in this game a 3/10. It was scary in the sense that you are trying to progress, and don't want to get caught. Only to find the thing i'm avoiding to be right around the corner unexpectedly. Slightly startled would be a better way to describe it. In a psychological horror sense, was more childish than anything.
The game got a lot better towards the end, had some cool scenes and mechanics, and a okay story.
You get a good amount of content for the price, it's a way longer game than what you would expect for the price (referring to sale price)
I believe it's Unity engine, so the graphics are slightly cartoon-ish but at the same time I don't have any complaints on the visuals.
I'm not sure if you would refer to them as puzzles, or just needing to find things to progress, but you get my gist. Yeah. Some of these are very annoying, felt kind of grind-ey when you really just want to get the horror, hear the story, and get out. Took me 3 hours start to finish, I would say that at least an hour of that was being stuck in a few key places. The puzzles themselves are not challenging, but some of the items that you need to interact with (or pick up) to progress, are EXTREMELY well hidden. This will leave you having been in the same environment for an extended period of time. By the time you do find the item you will be staring at your screen emotionless, out of sheer boredom from just exploring the same few corridors and rooms for the past 30+ minutes. By far the least enjoyable part of the game.
I honestly don't think it deserves it's current 84% overall rating. If you have a few hours to kill, have already completed most of the known horror games, and are looking to "complete" the horror genre, it's not a complete waste of time in that sense. (if you can get it on a sale or the current free trial playthrough). If I haven't made it crystal clear already, paying anything over $3 for this game would be nothing short of highway robbery. Glad I can say I've beat it, and now I know what happens, but just as glad that it's over.
8/10
Trigger Warning: This game features violence against children. I know that seems obvious, but let's be clear. You're so obviously a child, and there are mentions to your age, the voice acting sounds like a child, and if you have any sensitivity to violence against children please be aware that this game may not be for you.
Secondly: If you are afraid of clowns, there is a fair amount of clown content. You've been warned.
True crime, horror, murder mysteries, I can usually handle them all. Yeah, I'll scream sometimes, but usually that's what I'm here for! The more twisted the more fun so long as there is a good reason for why I'm experiencing the horror. Give me story with my horror please. I want to an excuse to enjoy the darkness. That said, Don't Be Afraid made me very afraid. It's one game that, while I wasn't afraid to traverse the actual levels as much the scares are reliant on jump scares (expect that one chase that.... oh God. Never again please!), the ever present fact that I am a child caused me enough psychological terror that it carried me through. Also I have a legit therapist wanted fear of clowns so that section of the game had me on edge quite a bit. I do recommend it overall for anyone looking for some good spooks and a little puzzles along the way, but will always throw out the warning that please be aware this is obviously violence against children and that may impact some of y'all in ways you don't expect.
Don't Be Afraid - A Gripping Indie Horror Experience
“An unsettling journey through fear and survival.”
Don't Be Afraid is an adventure horror game that places you in the shoes of an 11-year-old boy named David, who has been kidnapped by a sadistic psychopath. The game creates a chilling atmosphere as you explore the dark, foreboding house of your captor, piecing together the mystery of your abduction while attempting to escape.
Atmosphere and Sound Design
The atmospheric sound design and visuals are commendable, creating a sense of dread that permeates every moment. Eerie sounds and disturbing imagery contribute to the psychological horror, ensuring players feel the weight of David's terrifying predicament. The game excels in its ability to keep players engaged, making the exploration of the sinister environment both terrifying and intriguing.
Gameplay Mechanics and Puzzles
As you navigate the house, you'll encounter various puzzles that add layers of complexity to the experience. While some puzzles may feel basic, they serve the narrative well. The gameplay can be intense, especially when being pursued by the antagonist, who adds to the tension with his unnerving presence. However, the lack of manual saving and the presence of points of no return can lead to frustration if you miss critical steps towards achieving a good ending.
Character and Story Development
The character of David is relatable, and his plight invokes empathy from players. The story unfolds as you uncover dark secrets hidden within the walls of the house, and while it may not have the most intricate plot, it is engaging enough to keep you invested. The voice acting is generally solid, although some performances feel a bit off. The inclusion of psychological elements and the exploration of trauma add depth to the narrative.
Final Thoughts
Don't Be Afraid offers a decent horror experience, especially for its budget price. While it may not be perfect—exhibiting some technical limitations and an unsatisfying ending if not played carefully—it still delivers genuine scares and a gripping atmosphere. For anyone seeking a budget-friendly horror game, this title is certainly worth a playthrough, particularly during sales.

Good Horrorgame
Disturbing & creepy, complimented with an eerie sound design and some interesting visuals & story telling that you keep engaged throughout the approx 2 hour experience.
Does it have the best puzzles? No. Is the story particularly interesting? Not quite, but its not a bad story either.
However, I picked it up for less than 1$ so yeah for that price i have no complaints whatsoever, I enjoyed it.
pretty good horror game. plenty to explore and do. only bad thing i will say, is the fact there is no automatic saving option so if you forget anything, you need to restart the whole game. other than that, i really recommend this game
If you consider getting hunted to be spooky, you'll be in for a spooky time. There are some jumpscares, but most of the spooks come from being hunted. I liked the voice acting though.
Fun game with a good psychological horror atmosphere.
I was surprised to find out how there is more than one ending and there are different paths.
please add like saving and reloading shit because i keep forgetting an item and having to restart to get the ending iwant

7/10 ;!!
+ surprisingly good voice acting
I'm a sucker for a good horror game, and when I saw this one on sale for next to nothing, I figured "why not?" Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but it ended up being a pretty decent experience. The gameplay is a bit basic with some simple puzzles. Nothing revolutionary, but it works well enough. And for the price I paid, I can't complain too much. If you're looking for a cheap horror fix, "Don't Be Afraid" is worth checking out. Just don't expect a masterpiece.
Snagged this for pennies in a sale, and honestly? It's not bad for the price. "Don't Be Afraid" is a rough-around-the-edges horror experience, but it delivers some genuine scares and a creepy atmosphere. The game leans heavily into psychological horror, with disturbing imagery and a focus on the protagonist's inner turmoil. You'll spend your time exploring creepy environments, solving some puzzles, and trying to survive encounters with unsettling enemies.
Don't expect AAA polish here. The graphics are dated, the animations can be stiff, and there are some clunky gameplay moments. But if you can look past those flaws, there's a decent horror game underneath.
Should you play it? At 90% off: Absolutely. It's a fun way to spend a few evenings if you're into atmospheric horror and don't mind some jank. At full price at USD 9: Probably not, there are better horror games out there for your money or... wait for the sequel.
Overall, "Don't Be Afraid" is a decent budget horror experience with a focus on atmosphere and psychological elements. If you can grab it on sale, it's worth a playthrough for some cheap thrills.
What really makes this game unique is it's setting. Takie control of child who was abducted and do everything you can to escape... and maybe take your revegne? Very creepy and sometimes really, really scary. Atmosphere is so thick you can cut it with a knife. For that ridiculous price it's a must-have! Very recommended game!
I'm not a fan of horrors myself. However, this one is quite enjoyable and frightening at the same time. It has a scary and intense atmosphere with lots of puzzles. The perspective of a child kidnapped by a maniac makes this game pretty unique. Not bad at all.
Very fun little game - runs well on my work laptop. Quite scary - perfect for Halloween !
Not scary and the kidnapper sounds like the Joker.
7,5 for a horror game
for one buck it's a steal
I wanted to give this game a good review since it was so inexpensive but I can't recommend it. The graphics, story and performance are pretty good but the gameplay is the issue. Multiple times I had issues with getting the indicator to show that you can interact with something. It was also jank when it did. Like trying to grab something in a drawer but it keeps closing the drawer instead of grabbing the item. Secondly, the chases are just tedious. You die instantly when caught so you will die over and over again until you figure out what to do or where to go. Just annoying instead of being scary. I am also not a fan of any game that decides to impair your vision because of what is going on. There are a couple times near the end that you have to deal with that. Lastly, most of the puzzles are fine but there are a few where I thought to myself how could anyone ever figure this out without looking it up. Like you interact with an object that makes a sound that gives no indication of what it does. You basically have to look around until you find something different. Also, there is different endings. The problem with that is there is no checkpoint or save points besides autosave. So if you want to try different paths or see different endings, you have to play through the game all over again unless you manually back up the save ahead of time. The saves are located at C:\users\"Your User Name"\Appdata\LocalLow\Broken Arrow Games\Don't Be Afraid. Overall, it is a game that had potential but was wasted by jank mechanics, puzzles that can be convoluted and no save points to try different things or endings.
short but different choices=diff ending so ill play again next year.
A horror escape room puzzle game.
I was scare playing this game didn't finish it but i'm going to.
Some scary part my balls came off and took running and left my penis behind.
