Throughout the game, Nutbolt will acquire weapons and tools to help him, some increase Nutbolt’s offensive capabilities in combat whilst others add more strategic options and can be used outside of combat to help solve puzzles and reach previously inaccessible areas. You will shoot and slash your way through hordes of enemies each with their own weaknesses and resistances, you will explore ruined corporate buildings, you will solve puzzles and you will avoid treacherous hazards.
- A unique premise influenced by: Fallout, Waterworld and various Cyberpunk Novels.
- 1 Party Member turn-based combat which is simple to pick up but tricky to master with a weapon switching system that encourages strategic thinking.
- Puzzles that go beyond your usual switch and block based fare.
- A quirky cast of memorable characters.
- Gameplay that rewards exploration and discourages speedy playthroughs.
- A wide range of areas to travel through.
- An atmospheric and engaging electronic soundtrack.

RPG Maker strikes again!
Hydroactive is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction.
This is also the 295th RPG Maker asset flip I've had the displeasure of reviewing, in case anyone thinks RPG Maker trash isn't a real pollution problem for Steam.
Differentiating from the majority of RPG Maker asset flips which are just canned RPG Maker fantasy assets recycled badly, this is canned RPG Maker sci-fi assets recycled badly. This isn't the worst of all RPG Maker asset flips, but it's close. At least some effort went into adding some puzzles to go with the cringey high school anime club fan fiction and the recycled RPG Maker assets. Does this deliver any kind of real value proposition to gamers? Of course not.
As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development.
Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers.
Hydroactive is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger.
Just an average RPG Maker game.
Slightly different to the standard RPG Maker fare of a band of technicolour teeangers band together to save the world. Instead this time you only play as a single robot fighting slimes while trying to figure out whats going on. Its pretty well made but sadly the turn based combat gets a little dull after a while.
The story is good though, and its worth it if you really enjoyed stories like Waterworld or Fallout and want to see a new take on the genre.

TLDR: Corridorish RPGMaker centered around hotspots, trashmobs and the occasional platforming. All of world setting contained in intro. Rest is just hold attack and occasional heal item.
This game recycles assets all the time leaving you often guessing as to what is the actual door or progression hotspot in an area. There are a few timing sequences that are awfully annoying to deal with which prompted me to abandon play. There isnt a whole lot happening other than slicing through slime mobs and getting a vague backstory around sentient residue. You play as a drone protagonist which is not very relatable and the writing or lore does not really bridge that gap for you either leaving you stranded in a very barebones feeling experience.
Due to the overall lack of effort into bringing forward a narrative worth your time and due to the lackluster gameplay it is best removed for declutter. I liked the permanent upgrade system in the form of items and the occasional fluff text which just gave you credits for finding a terminal or something but on the overall it was much to bare and limited to be of any consequence.
A pretty good RPG Maker game.
Quite easy with nothing special about the gameplay.
You only recieve one character, although there are 3 slots, and combat is extremely basic.
Any character development items, or stat grinding is practically useless, as the last boss could likely be defeated with base starting stats.
The reason I don't recommend the game is that this is only "Act 1" and there's only an hour of gameplay before it abruptly ends.
