Another game I bought for its outstanding pixel art. The gameplay was easy and enjoyable, and I had a good time. I can’t say its story is the best, but at least it doesn't bore you. It might be a minor detail and not related to the gameplay, but I still want to say that I really liked the credits sequence. It's worth trying if you can catch a good discount; otherwise, I wouldn't really recommend it.
the game kept on registering each failure twice, meaning it will keep closing shift early....still gonna play forhours on end tho
Papers please but better
Great game and honestly the best game you can find to scratch the itch of playing something similar to Papers Please.
I decided to try Not Today because I'm being a big fan of Lucas Pope's game "Papers Please".The game turned out to be a pleasant surprise. At first glance, it’s familiar territory: checking documents, matching faces, spotting inconsistencies. But the mechanics are so engaging that it’s genuinely hard to stop — every new day on the checkpoint feels like a mini-puzzle. The game keeps things fresh by constantly introducing new twists: updated forms, shady characters with fake visas, you name it.
The soundtrack is quite catchy and atmospheric and perfectly matches for the visual tone.Speaking of visuals... this game oozes style. That retro bureaucratic dystopia vibe is absolutely nailed, with just the right amount of bleak charm.
Oh, and the xenophobia! Where else can you take border security so seriously that you start questioning your own reflection? Thankfully, it’s all served with a hefty dose of irony — and it works brilliantly. The game pokes fun at paranoia and bureaucratic absurdity in the best way possible.
If you enjoy games inspired by Papers Please, clever satire, and the raw power of deciding who gets in and who gets rejected - this game is for you.
Fun game that I recommend to anyone who enjoyed "Paper, Please."
I kinda like it more than "Not Tonight 2", as this is more dystopian and doesn't have any menu or story bloat that would get in the way of the gameplay.
.
Very similar to Papers Please, but bouncer at clubs. The game has a confusing save system. There's only 3 slots and when you load a day (even if it's the last day) it creates a separate save slot. Unfortunately, the game only pays you for people you let in, so if you have a lot of fakers in line - they'll just waste your time and prevent you from getting a perfect score. For some reason getting deported happens in the middle of the month, so it doesn't count as an ending. The DLC felt very unnecessary, random and forced. Despite everything it's a pretty good game to pick up on sale. 6/10
Feelin' bri'sh with this one!
Great game for a good price, 100% would get this game if your looking at reviews before buying. If you've played papers please or games like that, this is the game for you also there is British humour.
Not quite 'Papers, Please', but still a fantastic game in its own right.
Not the worst gimmick game, but could also need some more ideas implemented, as it gets little boring. Would prefer it to be shorter but more with more depth.
A Bouncer Working In A Country That Hates You
The Positive's
+ Fun Document Checking Mechanics
+ Great Soundtrack
+ Amazing Aesthetics
The Negative's Were Deported
The Aspect Of The Game
You are a citizen of in the UK who has lost there citizenship and is now forced to work doing bouncer gigs to get by in a ever changing government that does not want you there.
My Two Cent Review
I first played this game when it came out and thought it was pretty cool but was caught up in high school at the time and had completely forgotten this game until recently when the second game came out. The story of the game is very dystopian with the way the government treats it's immigrant problem which actually reminds of a real life country at the time of writing this review... For each place you work at has it's own playlist of songs that represent the location well. The visuals as very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The more you progress through the game the more and more they add layers to your job which of course gives you more pay with the greater risk of having discrepancy's pass through. With the money you earn you can customize your apartment and person adding buffs to the work you do.
The Value Of The Game
It's a really good document checking for the game that is constantly on sale. If you loved the game Papers Please you will certainly love this game.
Final Score 90/100 Ranking A- Tier
loved
i love this game so much, got it on sale and the story is amazing and i think the level is chalenging butn ot enough to be annoying
fun game about being a bouncer with good story
A fine successor to Papers Please!
A way worse copy of Papers Please. When I had just bought this game, as I was looking at its global achievements, I was wondering why only 10% of the players had got to the end; but when you start playing, it's obvious why.
Not Tonight is
- overly long: chapter 1 of Not Tonight consists of 30 days, while the entirety of Papers Please is less than that;
- too grindy, repetitive and tedious, due to its length and its health system;
- not emotional at all: as your rating is based on your speed, you are forced to rush through days and can barely glance at the few recurring characters who sporadically appear in the game.
I reached week 2 of chapter 2 and I think I'll drop this. It's not worth it imo.
This the best game I've played so far! So fast paced and yet the game's mechanics and graphical art style is top notch. I'm loving the story line, the 2d bit art style is very pretty, and the gameplay is fun and challenging. Basically like Papers Please but is much more fast paced and much more beautiful! Give this game a try!
excellent
I love games like this and Papers, Please. Nice for my autistic brain not to think too hard
good game, requires some practice to get good at but still a well done game.
PAPERS PLEASE
Having fun 'til now, but really, the load system is confusing as hell, and made me lose saves already.
I loved papers please. You have the same gameplay and flow state here in Not Tonight, albeith some minigames are mixed in towards the final stages of the game.
The game has more 'jobs' with different pass conditions and each job has pleasant pixel backgrounds and music.
I found this game and I really like it especially with the multiple endings and how you can decide how you want to play your character with the quests.
It has it's charm yes. However I found this game more enjoyable to watch than actually play. It becomes frustratingly repetitive and on the whole boring for the amount of irritation it brings. The BIGGEST issue is the inconsistent UI. The date format is different in THREE separate places on the screen at the SAME time and in a game where checking dates is paramount it makes it unfun.
Lovely game.
A cool little Papers, Please!-em up. It has plenty of shortcomings, but makes up for it in style, music and decent gameplay. It goes without saying that if you haven't played Papers, Please! first, you should do that instead, as that is the game this is trying to imitate, and Not Tonight doesn't quite hit the mark of that one (but comes pretty close).
For a game that makes you focus and find the small errors, the game itself has some errors that seemingly never got addressed. Such as the bosses telling you one thing, but the actuality of the stage checks being the polar opposite. For example, at one point, a boss told me that he doesn't care about income checks and I shouldn't bother with them, but my handbook of rules for the current day specifically says that I should, and the handbook is correct. Similar issues cropped up 2 or 3 times during the playthrough.. The game always refers to the people you inspect as 'clubbers', even when that is not appropriate. The game tells you that you can do a thing, but you actually cannot - when you first get drugs, it says you can flush them in the toilet, but there is no such functionality. There is a bunch of erroneous triggers for determining the 'good ending' that specifically say you did a thing during your playthrough when you most certainly didn't. The starting barks from the boss for the day will mention stuff like "Check tickets!" even if the venue in question doesn't have tickets. The rejection barks from the queuers can be complete nonsense, not matching the situation that happens at all.
It could have so many more things to check on the documents, but it just doesn't. The list of things to check stays fairly trivial till the end, and the only document cross-check you have to do is the photos, while it could have been more - names, ids, supplemental info. The additional documents also could have expiry dates, but they don't. The holograms/stamps for the documents could have fake versions, but they don't. The form/paper the documents are printed on could have fake versions, but they don't. There's many more potential details like these, but they were not implemented, I believe, to make the queue move faster, as it is a timed game, much more so than Papers, Please!. At later levels you have to keep breakneck pace to reach bonus objectives, and on some I never achieved bonus 2 due to running out of time, but that's not a big deal. The names of the queuers could have mattered more than just for the guestlist, there could have been a ban on polish-sounding names, there could have been a manhunt for some specific person to look out for, there could have been errors in name spellings in supplemental documents, but there's none of that.
It could have leaned further into racism. Now sure, the game touches on a similar theme heavily, but the point of the game is to make you uncomfortable, and it never quite goes "black people not allowed", and I think it should have by the end to show how fucked up things have become.
It could have leaned further into geography. It tickles it slightly with the flags, but it could have gone for cities, too. Ensuring that Milan is in Italy could have been an interesting mechanic with an additional bonus of teaching people some basic geography facts.
The game also just kinda... gives up by the very end, removing basically all difficulty from the strategic layer, and the ending of the game is very abrupt and underwhelming. I ended the game having bought all upgrades, paid for everything and with around 16k quid in my account with nothing to spend it on, having never sold a single thing or taken a bribe.
I should also mention that including a requirement to match the headwear and a hairstyle to the same types on the document photo is certainly a choice. Wore a different hat today? You're not allowed on the premises. I get that since the humans don't have facial features due to the artstyle, that's sort of your go-to, but it could have been explained in-game, like a mention of the wacky document photo ID laws or somesuch.
I kept waiting the whole game when will it force me to point out the errors to the queuers, but it never does, despite actually having that functionality. You can always just instantly reject if you spot something wrong without explaining, which is a missed opportunity in terms of additional difficulty. The game overall lacks the kind of bureaucracy that was charming in Papers, Please! and just kinda speeds it all along without realising that it is that sort of annoying attention to detail that was fun to explore in this kind of game.
Regardless of all that, it is still a quite fun game to play and I enjoyed playing it, I just wanted to vent my frustrations with it. I would recommend it to anybody who enjoyed playing Papers, Please! and wants more, but in a slightly different form-factor.
requires just enough brain power to keep me engaged but not so much that i feel super overwhelmed. Story line is pretty good so far. Music is awesome.
The game has nice graphics and a good soundtrack. The mechanics of working as a bouncer are also well done, but they get boring very quickly. I only had enough time for the first chapter (out of three), then I got tired of the same type of ID verification grind.
An inferior version of Papers Please that has a few laughs but is overall not that much fun. Got a bad ending even though some of the tings you need to do for the good ending are very obscure, like Daves ring and the blackmail problem with the shop woman. It's a decent game if you get it on sale but not worth twenty dollars IMO.
Great game! I liked both the story (with cheeky in jokes) and gameplay, witch is kinda like papers please so if you don't like a little repeditive ness then you probably wont like it. It does keep it fresh for me as far as new things to look out for but this is all my opinion i would still recommend it.
especially if you like: papers please, beholder (2), or death and taxes
Might be worth it, if it's on sale and you know you like this kind of game. Pretty boring though. Just play Papers Please instead.
Doesn't have good support for touchscreen. Could use more accessibility options, like clicking the card instead of clicking and dragging to take it.
Really fun game, love the silly little add on with the love version.
froggies not allowed
If you like Papers, Please or That's Not My Neighbor, this game is for you. The story is great, the music is great, the gameplay is great, and the pixel art is phenomenal. Seriously, if you are even considering it, buy it.
very good game fun story challenging game play
Nice game!
8/10 (+1 for the music)
The game obviously is a Papers, Please inspired game, which offers a unique and engaging gaming experience, skillfully combining time management with real-life social issues. The storyline is very captivating, immersing players in a world that reflects real social problems, and the art style adds to its charm. However, after a while, I think players may find the mechanics familiar too easily, which can lead to a sense of repetition and boredom. Additionally, the fast pace of the game can be a challenge for some, as it requires quick decision-making. Not to mention, some choices and decisions appear quite early in each chapter but can change the game's ending.
But still, It's an interesting and thought-provoking experience, especially for those who enjoy storytelling and strategic gameplay with simple yet quite enjoyable graphics.
Personally, I highly appreciate and love the music in this game. One of the songs has become one of my favorites.
Even though they compare it with Papers Please! It's very boring, story seems to go nowhere, soundtrack is pretty bland, even though it has an interesting concept it explore those themes poorly.
I think I'm a real Brexit geezer now
Game’s fun and simple, but you’re bound to make mistakes here and there until you finally get to master it. Story are well made, awesome pixel art and great soundtracks too. Some voices reminds me of those from Spongebob lol
with a fantastic pixel art, music styling, game play and political message, for sure worth playing, just ensure you work hard or you will be deported... in the game and perhaps in real life...
This underrated game is extremely fun for me because it has provided me a satisfying amount of pressure while playing it. The difficulty of this game is just right & the choice you make during the story are well-made. The most enjoyable part would be the amount of skill it would take to be able to get good at this game. It is easy to master as you progress through the story & as you start playing the game, you wouldn't want to stop. New developments will be made in your run in this game which would prevent you to stop playing the game.
Amazing soundtrack and surprisingly good story!
Good story-line and challenge. Not Bad!
Easy to play and entertaining
very fun and simple. love the pixel art. if you like papers please, you’ll love this game.
Insane but addicting
Smart, satiric and sometimes funny game. But you need to like careful gameplay like it is in Papers, Please. I mean, here you need to think fast and play fast, but you'll probably make mistakes anyway.
I enjoyed game's atmosphere and how stupid some (most of them actually) rules are.
My favorite part was when cast of Doctor Who came to my bar...
Игры похожие на Not Tonight
