Really good, polished game, but damned if it isn't hard. I'm 6+ hours in and still getting killed in more or less the same level for the last 3 hours.
From what little ive actually got to play its quite fun and has a R-Type feel to it.
Unfortunately, the game crashes constantly for me, as well as having somewhat poor performance. I get constant frame drops. Im using a regular ssd and the load times arent great either. Changing any graphical setting- including resolution and windowed/fullscreen requires a restart, and sometimes when the game reboots it crashes again then resets all values to default.
great fun shmup, good music, nice graphics.
It is a good game but the controls are too sensitive and the game too cinematic.
Old school shootem up. nice update to an old retro arcade classic.
Rigid Force Alpha is a good Shmup. Nice graphic, music and you can change every buttons function. Even for non-xinput devices. A real round game.
The one and only negative thing for me is... when you die you just re-spawn immediately with zero equipment. You don't even drop at least some of your previous power-ups on dying... just get catapulted right back where you just where.
I personally liked that games like Gradius, R-Type and so on had multiple points throughout the level where it would re-spawn you, giving you a chance to get at least some items before the spot that killed you.
Or like in the Raiden games, where you would drop some of the power-ups you had at the time of dying.
I really enjoy this shmup. The music is an excellent techno style. The pleasant woman's voice will tell you need more training when you quit after losing a level, but also praises you when you do well. Lots of crystal clear lasers, and plays well on an arcade stick. I'm using a F500 Elite. Tough, and maybe feels a little unfair at the boss level, but overall a great purchase when it's on sale. I'd say this is a B tier shmup.
Handy little shooter, with good music and thought through dialog. More fun and better value than R-Type 2 Final.
While I haven't completed the game yet, I am very impressed with this 2D scroller that encompasses 3D backgrounds. It plays very smooth with a XBOX controller, which is the best way to play a shooter in my opinion. The game download is surprisingly small and the in-game intermissions are well done. Sound is excitingly well done and the graphics are gorgeous. Animated player and enemies are smooth and very responsive. Has an R-Type kinda feel to it. Be sure to check out all the buttons on your controller as your in-game ship and powerups react differently. Recommended!
Note: If you are in Windows 10/11, select Window mode and your monitors max resolution. The game may crash otherwise forcing you into the game's safe mode.
If you want to play a game like R-Type this is a certain buy. It's very much like R-Type and similar games, plays excellently, is fun, and the difficulty is just right, gameplay is polished and satisfying.
Instead of shooting out your shield, you move it to different positions: forward, wide, sides, wide back, narrow back.
The game doesn't break any new territory, but it has nice 3d graphics, a brake/focus button, analog movement.
Great game. But the cutscenes, especially due to the voice of your assistant AI are cringe. I skip them all, which is great that you can.
Absolutely recommended. I actually think, this is a better game than R-type Final 2... It's just.. just as mechanically interesting, the force is present, but somewhat less frustrating than R-type. I loved the controls more, the graphics are sometimes even better. Good shmup, with many difficulty options, if u after finishing the game, u can get more continues just playing it.
this game looks good but i cant play it on my pc, and i have a high end pc the game launches and its all choppy and unplayable , i hope to get working but i dont know what else to do,
RIGID FORCE ALPHA looks great, feels great and sounds great (AWESOME soundtrack). The gameplay is top notch and the difficulty perfectly balanced. The menus and global interface lacks a little polish, the loadings could be a little quicker, but nothing serious. Epic shmup!
Rigid Force Alpha is clearly a tribute to classics like Nemesis aka Gradius and R-Type. Games that I grew up with. I've always been looking for games like those on PC since the wonderful Gradius-series never made it to our platform. And Rigid Force Alpha has not disappointed me, not at all. It's gorgeous, fast, spectacular, the soundtrack is great, controls are precise... It's exactly the way that I'd have imagined games of the future to be like when I was a kid. I just love it and hope for a sequel.
Didn't like it much. For the expensive price, I expected something better & more enjoyable. Looks nice but gameplay didn't suck me in.
Also seems to break scaling in Windows 10, forcing me to restart Steam and browser windows outside of the game. No 2160p resolution either although there are higher/lower ones in the 16:9 options.
Seems like a fun game so far, not super far into it. It has a Super R-Type vibe to it with a dash of Darius Twins from SNES days. I made it to stage 3 at the time of this post. I will probably die a lot. Will try to give an updated review when i get further in. Here is a link for my initial thoughts:

I had this game on my wishlist and once it went in the sale I picked it up straight away. I have only played it for like an hour and I can already say this game is Awesome! It reminds me alot of Project X on the Amiga from back in the day except not as ludicrously hard! LOL Seriously the graphics are superb, the music is just brilliant and the gameplay is tight! I am so glad I eventually picked it up. If you love your old school shooters you need to own this game immediately, its as simple as that.
Good and challenging horizontal stg in the vein of R Type. The game has some wrinkles though in its weaponry and other mechanics. Recommended to people looking for a polished looking shooting game that still maintains the challenge of its predecessors.
It's a grabbag of SHMUPS as one; Your fighter is almost like a R-9A Arrowhead but with a prototype Wave cannon that adapts to your main weapon's module, it charges up like in Nanostray as you collect Stardust from defeated enemies to power up your Beam Bar. You face off an onslaught of enemies like in Soldner-X (and even the soundtrack is like Soldner-X almost!), as if that's not enough, there's even a super-aggressive Bigcore who is armed to the bone: he has blade wings, but chop those off and he becomes another Teto-Ran who's actually more focused on throwing plasma at you this time (lol I couldn't help but chuckle at seeing that angry Bigcore pull that off!) It's not an easy flight but certainly worth a go! Feel free to sortie today! :)
A very solid horizontal shmup! Looks and plays really nice, feels like a mix of Gradius V and R-Type. There are a few primary and secondary weapons you can switch (via pick-ups) and power-up during the stages.
Progression is truly classic, with no permanent upgrades or bonuses. There are three difficulty levels available and my mid-30s reflexes allowed me to progress on "Easy" thus far.
The game has a few really minor technical issues, but the developer seems to be taking night shifts for tracking down and fixing them.
Totally worth checking out.
It's a clasic style space shoot em up ( It's most similar to R-Type Leo and Gradius V? But not a clone of either. )
There are side ships which can be flipped between 4 positions ( I'd wish for more things to do with them! ) and you should use them strategically, to block shots, or destroy enemies for you.
You gather green energy bits to power up a delayed mega laser, or use the small "bullet blade" which sweeps away shots?
There are three difficulties which seem appropriate. If you're really good at these games, choose hard.
I'm having fun playing it, but I'm not "blown away" ; - ) by the current state of of it.
It could use A bit of balancing, and just ... more everything!
Still, the programmer deserves a medal for continuing this style of game!
( When the large companies that used to just won't do it. )
That's reason enough to support it!
I'm going to do a video review soon.
