STORY
You play as Roy Becket, a young pilot with dreams of becoming as skilled as his adoptive father. When a galactic war against an ancient mechanical alien race reaches its boiling point, Roy is forced to spring into action and take control of an otherworldly bipedal war machine in hopes of saving what's left of humanity.
Joining Roy is a young girl who claims to have escaped the clutches of the nefarious aliens. Forever altered through the horrible experiments to which she was subjected, she now possesses the very abilities humanity will need to push back the Doomsday Clock.
Together, the pair must face an unrelenting army alone and reunite their shattered families.
The end of civilization as we know it is on the horizon. Between humanity and eradication stands Astebreed.

Hidden gem, easy and short to complete but hard to 100%(unless you want to malding which i don't)
The story has similarities to Mass Effect 2, involving an alien machine and biological alterations that transform human into becoming one of them.
Gameplay itself offers a variety of angles and became a bullet hell if you play on hard difficulty, so try this if you wants a short danmaku(shoot' em up) game and wait for a sale since it's only a buck.
Short but good.
Good games with old school shoot'em up plus cool anime style artwork and design.
Astebreed is a side scrolling action mecha game with Japanese stylings in it's designs including the voice acting and cut scenes.
The game uses a lock on feature (reminiscent of Panzer Dragoon) and also employs a sword slash attack as well as being able to utilise guns typical to a shootemup. The gameplay relies more on the sword and lock on feature so I wouldn't actually call this a shootemup because of the emphasis on mellee.
The length of the game isn't big, having just completed a playthrough on normal difficulty under 2 hours. The game does have high scores to chase as well as online leaderboards (may not be working as I couldn't see my score) and achievements so there is more to do once finishing a run which adds replay value. There is also additional artwork, demo scenes etc in the extras section which I always appreciate as the art is good.
The graphics are clean and smooth in 4k.
The game engine and performance is fine.
The audio is clear and good quality.
Astebreed is a quality action mecha game which holds up well now in 2024 some 10 years after it's Steam release.
I recommend the game but bear in mind the campaign is short. If you plan on going for all achievements, difficulty modes etc you will find value in adding it to your library.

for controller the problem if u using "dash", you cant use "dash" while u pressing attack button
An Arcade Style while watching anime in game, though I wIsh I could understand all Japanese Dialouges its VA but only few i knew in their words,
If your up to some arcade style and can finish up to 1-2 hrs this game is good
