Worms is the classic that launched the iconic franchise. It's a turn-based strategy game with teams of worms battling it out using a wild assortment of weapons—including hilarious ones like the banana bomb—where the last surviving team takes the win.
While the game is fun, newer entries in the series have since refined the formula. The graphics and controls feel dated, which is expected from a 1995 game, and the AI can be frustratingly precise, pulling off near-impossible shots. The voice lines are still a highlight.
The Steam store lists only English for the interface and voices, and while there's an option to change the language in the menu, it doesn't work. If you really want other languages, you can rename the .sfx files in the data folder to switch the voice language.
The game runs smoothly on DOSBox, and I had no issues with functionality. I only played against AI, and it works fine for that, but from other reviews, it seems like remote play together doesn't function properly, which is a downside.
I enjoyed it for the nostalgia, but unless you're a longtime fan, the newer games are likely a better experience.

Its fun, the sequels suck.
If you're a die-hard Worms fan, this is an interesting piece of franchise history. Otherwise, don't get it. The missions require you enter a password to continue where you left off, which isn't exactly brilliant. Jumping into a crater is a death sentence because there's only one type of jump and it goes forward. Roping feels unrefined and the version on modern storefronts is running in DOSbox which isn't the most accurate DOS emulator. But, if you really want to try it, try it.
It didn't age well. This part is definitely a skip.
