History is as yet unwritten

Whether you play as the legendary general or against him, the outcome of war can never be guaranteed. The course of history relies on your ability to lead your troops through the most intense battles as never seen before in a Total War game.
About The Peninsular Campaign
The Peninsular Campaign is an independent campaign based on the conflict in the Spanish Peninsula between 1811 and 1814. It was during this era that the Spanish resistance gave their style of fighting its name: Guerrilla, or the “little war”.
Play the campaign from three different perspectives, each with a unique feel:
• The French fight to keep resistance at bay while converting regions to their political alignment.
• The British are very limited for regions at the start but receive enough income from Northern Europe and North America that they can afford to liberate regions back to the Spanish in return for Guerrilla aid.
• The Spanish also have a limited starting position but have permanent access to Guerrillas for effective battlefield use against the French.
Choose one of the three nations involved - France, Great Britain or Spain - and experience one of the most intense conflicts of the Napoleonic era.
Key Features:
• A new and independent Iberian Peninsula campaign map featuring 32 controllable regions.
• 5 new Guerrilla unit types, recruitable by all nations, adept at battlefield stealth and with the added ability to deploy outside of their faction's deployment zones: Tiradores (Skirmisher Infantry), Cazadores, Lanceros (Lancer Cavalry), Husares (Light Cavalry), Leader (General).
• 28 new units in total, spread across the three playable nations including the British 95th Rifles, the French Vistula Uhlans and the Spanish Coraceros Espanoles.
• Two new agents to enforce political conversion:
• Provocateurs (French and British nations only) have the ability to promote anti-opposition sentiment in regions, incite unrest, decreases turn time for research and passively spy.
• Priests (Spanish and Portuguese nations only) have the ability to promote anti-opposition sentiment in regions and incite unrest.
• A new Guerrillero agent for the Spanish nation: similar to a Spy but with the new ability to Harass enemy armies - lock them in place for a turn and cause them attrition.
• Political Alignment system which sees the French battle to increase pro-French sentiment throughout the peninsula.
About Coalition Battle Pack
The Coalition Battle Pack features 6 brand new units and contains the Battle of Friedland fought between France and Russia.
The Battle of Friedland (14 June, 1807) with Napoleon's empire at its height, he took a chance and defeated Russia in detail, knocking them out of the war and bringing the Fourth Coalition to an end.
Unit Descriptions:
• Lifeguard Hussars: This fast light cavalry unit is best used for dealing with skirmishers and artillery who can attack from long range.
• Coldstream Guards: Disciplined, well-trained and respected, these elite foot guards inspire nearby troops in battle.
• Archduke Charles' Legion: This highly-disciplined line infantry regiment excels at weapons drill and accuracy.

I think that the game is somewhat decent. But theres far too many bugs. NIGGA :D
I LOVE THE PERIOD OF THE GAME THE SIMPLICITY OF PLAYING (I AM QUITE OLD) AND I STRUGGLE PLAYING ON VERY HARD .THIS IS WHY I STILL PLAY! I LOVE IT!
W game, can use some updates but yes
great game keep up the good work and updates
Fun game, enjoyable movement and warfare
This game usually makes no sense. 100 dragoons CAN beat 60 general's staff, and mental warfare is a thing. Thank you, and fuck you, game
After fighting 4 battles of venetia in italy and 6 battles of cairo i can truly say that its a lovely game . Venetia is stronger than austria and beduins than mamelucks
Although the game itself is really good (mechanics wise, and gameplay wise) i really enjoy it, its just a bit sad to see if having barely any active players and updates (never). Not to mention the game will randomly close down on you, and you cant exit it without closing the entire game itself. The textures are really good and still hold up, but some could use a few updates (grass, cobblestone and extra uniforms..) The steam achievments stopped working for the game too, alongside the achievments where you have to do multiplayer battles crossing out ever wanting to complete the game fully. (no one ever online unless its modded). Its a great game, but i really wish devs continued support for this game. I would love to see a remaster if they ever do come back looking at it, but for the meanwhile we will simply have to wait.
Nice game got it on sale but Id only buy it on sale never full price
Help Needed – Unable to Access Additional Content in Definitive Edition
Hi folks!!!!!,
I need some assistance!
I downloaded the Definitive Edition and paid full price, but I’m unable to access the additional games, campaigns, battles, or units. The only content that loads is the base DLC, and I’m unsure if I’m missing a step to unlock the rest.
Could you please guide me on how to access the additional content?
Thanks in advance for your help! 😊
Completely unplayable because 15 years after it's release the developers still refuse to do anything about the size of the text in the game
game is great, graphics are good and matches are fun to play. Battles have a big scale and its always fun to zoom in to view the action. There's a pretty deep layer of strategy too and i had a lot of fun spending hundreds of hours trying to master it, the main problem with this game in my opinion is the removal of text chat in games, this has made matches for me so much less enjoyable and its near impossible playing 2v2's with randoms because you cant communicate any order or tactic whatsoever so I've had plenty of times where i had to sit back and watch my team commit the most brutal blunders. also multiplayer disconnections are criminally common, and you lose 10 matches worth of rank if your internet stops working for longer then a few seconds, campaign is pretty peak but compared to its ancestor game it feels somewhat cheap and short, there are some mods that help with this though so its not too bad, overall good game but its showing high signs of total lack of any maintenance which is a massive shame because all the problems are easily fixable.
Beautiful game. My infantry are doing back shots with the enemy instead of fighting. Idk what i bought, this is a gooner game.
My fav total war game of all time. Still Waiting For Napoleon Total War 2
My battle mode wont allow me to set cannons. The unit bar is not there. any thoughts?
In this game you can unleash your load... I meant your salvo of round-shot you tattered bench stools.
i think im just stupid or i suck at it but every time i need help attacking the opp (btw im on single-player and i have it on normal) i keep losing even tho i have the right manovers. Not a very fun game
I personally could not get into this one I really tried, its a beautiful game Just so limited for a Total war game. I perfer Empire over this one.
Very fun game! Very cool to send troops into combat and watch all the troops and their fighting animations and it still holds up today
If you want a napoleonic strategy game, and not a first person one like holdfast, then ntw is perfect
One of my favorites, has a bunch of great mods made by the community as well. The battles are quite epic and the campaign is incredible!
Classic total war, incredible. if you get the chance you need to download the mods for it like the lord of the rings.
You can't play the grand campaign as Napoleon for some reason, and the map was smaller than Empire
Great game if you are mildly autistic and have a fixation on Napoleonic warfare.
The Tutorials and 15 year old controls are a bit hard to learn but the graphics and overall game are pretty cool!
this game is 14 (or more) years old but it is still one of the most popular napoleonic war games in the world
I haven't given this game a fair shake until now and it hasn't aged well. The campaigns are very limited, it crashes a lot, and the audio keeps glitching out. It's a shame there aren't any good Total War games about the revolutionary era.
Being a strategy game fan and a history buff, Total War: Napoleon is all I could ever want and so much more. Beautifully crafted campaigns put you in the shoes of one of history's finest tacticians; the battles, thrilling and visually stunning, pay attention to historical detail, bringing the Napoleonic era to life.
For fans of the Total War series or strategy games in general, Napoleon is a must-play. Few games make history as exciting, and Total War: Napoleon does just that brilliantly.
Highly recommended!!!
"There's nothing we can do" "Or can we?"
Best Total War game by far. Very Complex and very intriguing. Love the strategy and combat. Setting feels appropriate. Asthetic and UI is well made. Gameplay is fun and doesn't gate stale. Mod support is...
Overall:
8.7/10
87/100
Pretty epic, playing as the French is fun, but shooting them is more fun
Missed this at launch, and though it feels dated now, it’s still a solid experience—the Egypt campaign is a real highlight
Two thumbs up, looked for a good game with decent graphics/mechanics for a modest PC and this game delivers. For its time, top tier.
Wonderful game despite its age, very fun to verse friends and the campaign is pretty engaging! Would honestly recommend!
not able to play with other factions like ottoman empire, not even with France in historical compaing
This game is not worth it, do not buy it. There may be a mod that u can install to make it playable but still, litteraly crashing during campaigns is just annoying.
This is probably the definitive gunpowder total war game, and probably one of if not the definitive for the enitre genre of strategy games based on musket warfare.
We need a second Napoleon Total War 2 Asap. Warhammer is good but this game is great. I'm not the only person who wants this. Many people believe that this game has huge potential. Great game though (;
This game has Birds Eye view and not front on view. The soldier units, buildings, towns do have a shape but, are not accurately made. Just shows a lump of buildings and soldier units which are not fully shaped or in their form.
When going into the war and many fights going on then yes, the form on the buildings and soldiers become accurate but, majority of game is played from Birds eye view.
This game proves how patient people can be it is a step by step game, with building a civilisation and getting units to scout other tiles which are adjacent.
More Polished than Empire, better unit balancing, simplistic campaign map features. AI is really bad but there is a multiplayer option if you can get someone to play with you. But other than that generally well balanced game.
good game play ai is a little dumb tho if you can work with that then tons of funn
Really detailed game. I'd say it's ahead of it's time because of the graphics, details, etc. This also has very great mods in my opinion, for example, I use the "Napoleon total war Remastered 3.0" mod, and I love it. Recommended if you're feeling antique!
man this napoleon guy really IS a force of nature. i've killed him like 10 times and he just. keeps. coming. back.
clear human instinct: do not make your horses run while you're being shot at even though i quintuple right-clicked 30 times in an area and pressed R making sure you are running (still didnt run)
Doesn't crash (unlike Empire Total War). One caveat; England seems to be poorly managed by the AI, it doesn't make use of the numerous trading positions available to it. I've seen endgames in which London has close to the lowest levels of government and military buildings. England's goal should be to fill the trade positions with merchant ships, and then invade Spain (as happened historically) to get at France.
The Best Nepoleonic Real time Strategy game that everyone must try. Real Time Military and Governance System makes this game soo real. Strategy Gamers will like this game for sure.
the artillery doesnt feel as powerful as in fall of the samurai but this game has a more simple construction system and focuses more on battles
The base game is okay. I really enjoyed it, but my favourite bit was the NTW3 Mod which completely transforms the game to be way more strategic and realistic. Would recommend the base though as well. :)
This is by far the most underrated Total War game ever made, the graphics are good, the ai is smart, and it all feels so realistic, my only complaint is theres no ai vs ai only.
--Campaign
Campaign mechanics are not overly complex and easy to understand, which I like, because you can focus on strategy and having fun, while not being bored or limited in your options. European map could be bigger. AI sucks and doesn't have any strategy at all (like in literally all CA games). Auto-generated maps in land and siege battles suck, since they are very simple and look almost the same.
--Combat
-Land battles
Major factions have some advantages and disadvantages, so you need to choose your army wisely, which I like. Some units are completely worthless though. The combat consists of both strategy and micromanagement, which feels nice to play - you need to master both, if you want to win. The balance of time to kill, shooting range, maneuverability is amazing. Probably the most complex and strategically interesting CA game along with Shogun 2 in terms of battles (but I don't like Shogun's increased infantry range and art's first person view(wtf?!)).
-Naval battles
There is a reason why no one plays them. They suck. It feels nice initially, but there is little diversity in them. If there were different maps which contain islands and coast that would have been much more interesting to play.
--Scenario battles
Here AI is scripted and sometimes it actually looks like it has some strategy. Overall, provides a decent challenge, especially for those, who never played CA games before. However, the amount of scenario battles disappoints considering how many battles were there during Napoleonic wars.
--Multiplayer
The chat was removed lol. Maps are decent, but half of the scenario battles are imbalanced in terms of army composition and terrain advantage. Also, people who played scenario battle before have a massive advantage, since it has no pre-game timer to evaluate the battlefield. And because there are no new maps, some people just play the same maps, like bots, and play every time exactly the same best strategy that they figured out. It's great that there is actually no skill-based matchmaking and your rating (or stars) don't mean anything, otherwise it would be impossible to play for some people, because they lost all their rating due to playing against human bots.
--Graphics & Sound
Aged like a wine.
--Bugs
There are a lot of them. Some bugs even affect your gameplay and require you to take them into account while playing, otherwise you will lose.
--Conclusion
One of the best CA games theoretically. It has the most interesting setting out of all so far. No cringe top bar abilities, no constant boring melee fights with spears and shields. Decent campaign. It's worth to play it if you like RTS genre.
There could be so much more: bigger campaign map; smarter AI that doesn't use cheats in campaign and that has a strategy in battles; fixed all the bugs; a lot more scenario battles; new multiplayer maps every couple of months. Yet, it seems like CA's business model is creating a new game or a DLC as an update, rather than actually making your existing projects better. Maybe someday someone competent will figure out the true potential and will make a game like that, or someone will buy CA when they eventually go bankrupt and will update the game, but it's unlikely.
Was a good ride, now let's continue enshitiffication with other games.
This game is really for a particular Total War fan. I got bored a bit to quickly (mainly because of the age period the game is based on). I am more into the old age type of Total War games. But I am my preferences and so would any one else. Still worth getting it and having it in your Total War Collection of games.
