Puzzle solving how to play was a bit frustrating at times, but actual play was good. Problem came after trying to exit - it won't stop! Even after turning everything off, it is still stuck and won't let me start other apps (including SteamVR itself) in my Oculus 2.
This Angry Birds, erm, 'homage' worked pretty well in the end. It's a deranged riot of upgrade noises and novelty silliness in many ways, and they've just thrown everything they can think of at it, but some of it sticks ;)
Good Things:
- The projectile qualities add some decent variety to the shot types you're going for, and give a feeling of strategic choice when probing ways to solve a new level. Each coloured furry interacts with key materials in different ways:
[list] - A heavy grey one will smash through stone, but you have to account for the extra drop in flight that his weight brings.
- A green one will bypass indestructible green materials, but are too light to cause much downstream carnage.
- The bombs wrack up the physics carnage, but are the most unwieldy to fire of all.
- Etc
- Hand-held tools just work for this. I pretty much stuck with the classic slingshot (the grab-bag of tennis racquets and golf clubs were more for novelty value, and inter-stage mini-games).
- Some of the 'scenarios' are pretty playful.
[list] - Concrete planes with explosives packed in their engines, if you can burrow to them, and various furries in the act of parachuting out via balloons.
- Theme parks with slides made from each of the materials, and furries teleporting down them in an endless loop.
- Cream-cake castles stuffed with magnets and trampoline traps, who's vagaries you can only unlock through judicious smashing
Shonky Things
They've obviously tried to design a lot of the levels with specific solutions in mind. (Use the third furry, the wood smashing one, to bring the concrete level down on the furries you freed from the paddling pool... etc). But half the time the physics expression is so variable, or the actual game mechanics so indie-shonky, that neither the game designer's plan, nor your own personal one, proceed as intended.
Some rounds I'd breeze through a fiendish set up at the first attempt, purely due to some random cascade of destruction. And then I'd get stuck on another for 20 goes, in part because of reliance on a cascade going your way. Bonus glitchiness didn't help either. (Having a key teleporter lose its anchor and teleport your furries half way off the map instead was, not helpful...)
Aspects like the 'hit a button to cycle all of the materials around' felt like nice ideas, but their execution again felt fairly random rather than strategic in practice.
---
Overall though, I enjoyed the 'one more go' carnage, for all its elastic indie formlessness at points.
I'll give them some bonus points for the manic mini-games too. And the fact that you can design your own levels by hand.
When i first tried to play it i got an error message. i emailed the Developer, Steve and he replied comprehensively within a few hours and had it working for me very quickly.
excellent developer. excellent game.
Very nice gameplay/graphics and can even be a lil' workout on some mini-games ! :)
I enjoyed even if it's not really my type of game so I definitively recommend, especially now that it is on sales !
Level design could use some improvement, but overall I am giving it a thumbs up.
Its budget angry birds in VR.
A little rough around the edges, but the physics - and thats what counts - are top notch. The social factor with the global leader boards for every level is a big plus. It just makes you want to improve on already solved levels.
"An angry bird by any other name would smash as hard"
This game came out in November 2018. Angry Birds VR came out in February 2019.
This game is cheaper to buy, and has a free demo!
This game has a variety of different tools for flinging the cute animals and also comes with a level editor so you can build and share your own levels!
It's a great implementation of the "fling small cute animals at block towers" formula.
A really good game for introducing people to VR too.
Familiar mechanics, but in roomscale VR.
No forced player movement, so no chance of nausea.
Supports multiple player profiles so you can keep your own progress through the game while also letting friends and family start from the beginning when they play.

[*]How has this gone unnoticed?
There are so many games that come out daily it is hard to sift through all the garbage. It is near impossible to find something of quality that is fun, well made and was created by someone that gives a sh☣☣ rather than a company with the deepest pockets and a franchising license.
A true hidden gem that deserves recognition.
Since my purchase of the HTC Vive, I have purchased over 150+ VR titles and played countless more. The main contributing factor to the large VR collection is seeing the limitless capabilities of what these games have to offer, but 95% of those games have less than 1-2hr total play time. That is because the novelty wears off, the actual game inst fun or isn't engaging, after that there's no motivation or reason to invest more time.
VR Furballs is something I had honestly passed a few times browsing the store, but I kept noticing it and was unlike any other VR game I had played. The quality of this game far surpasses titles i've seen from large teams and even large companies. The mechanics are well thought out, it feels natural, it looks amazing and tons of replayability. I have spent many hours playing along with my fiance, friends and family. Simple to learn, hard to master. It is the ONLY VR game I have played that is playable and enjoyable in any type of room configuration, standing, sitting, big room, small room or closet. It is also one of the very few that really can be played by anyone, any age and any experience level, even those that get motion sick easily.
It worries me when near perfect games go unrecognized for no fault of their own, but people are waiting in line to buy another $80 verison of a retextured and renamed version of CoD. This is worth every hard earned dollar, euro, franc, yen, rupee, peso, dong, credit, bells, meso, simoleon or robux you spend. This is a truly great game and it deserves our support.
This is dream game! I've played several VR shooting and longbow game before, always dream of a VR slingshot game, and this is it! Not only VR furball created this VR slingshot experience (at least the 1st for me), but they also did it right! The shooting control is intuitive and accurate. The 1st time, I played this game in a VR entertainment center and I just grab it and played non stop. Afterwards I talked with the store owner, and he told me that the game not only has slingshot, it will have other mechanism in later game, that's why I purchased it and wanted to play more of it. A lot of people say the game reminds you Angry Bird, true. At least, it reminds me the great time I first played Angry Bird on my phone, and it's wooooo...
It's what you'd expect from a game like this with a good amount of content and a bit of variety in the form of different types of furballs with their own "powers".
The alternative weapons feel great but are no more than a gimmick as the levels aren't designed with them in mind. You probably won't end up using them unless you're going for the borderline impossible achievements.
This game is definitely a hidden gem. I was not expecting this kind of quality at this price point. Basicly, it's a unique take on Angry Birds in which you shoot a variety of different "fur balls" all with different powers at various structures, trying to kill the enemies and cause as much destruction as possible. Each level and world progressively gets bigger, more detailed, and more difficult. The physics are done well. Tons of replayability competing with family and friends for local high scores, plus lots of fun random mini games can be unlocked as you play.
Overall, this is a great game for the price.
Just wanted to say that I've now had this game for about a month now and it's a lot of fun. I'd never imagine playing a game like this in VR as I see simular games avalible for my phone but just being surrounded by the environment is truly amazing! Will like to add that the developer is proactive and always improving and expanding the game which is a BIG +
Pro tip: If you try the demo, make sure to finish the the later levels as they show more of the potential of this game.
What is my impression of this title? It's a complete package, or well, it's even more than that! I'll just dump my mind here:
- The main mode has you throw furballs at the level to pop enemies and rack up score destroying the environment.
- On a regular interval you unlock new kinds of balls to throw, new kinds of tools to launch them with and even additional mini-games!
- After completing the game you have access to a level editor!
- There are leader-boards, cloud saves and literally hundreds of achievements!
[*]I think there are also options for mixed reality output or something, but have not used that yet... but if you're into that, take a look.
Honestly, some of these features doesn't even exist in fairly major VR titles, it's very impressive.
So yeah, in conclusion, I've very much enjoyed my time in this game so far, and have a lot more to do if I want to clear all achievements! 😁 (is that even humanly possible?)
WOW! what an awesome VR game! its a lot like the very popular Non-VR game "Angry Birds" (which I'm sure it was inspired by) except its in VR, This game is one of the best uses of realistic physics in VR and is a brilliant idea for a VR game, I honestly cant immagine VR without it! The Developer is also extremely friendly and open to suggestions and very willing to help out anyone! This is by far one of the best VR games out there, definately in the top 10 of all time for sure, if you like physics based games with a bit of thinking involved (but certainly not too much like many other games which are a bit of a turn off for many) you will love this, it also extremely intuitive and very easy to learn as it has an very good tutorial and hint system, anyone can pick up and play this game even kids and parents! if you want to show an older or younger person VR this is probably the best game you could choose as it is no only easy to learn and use but it will show people how to learn to use VR easilly, its basically Angry Birds in VR but its a lot more interesting and is packed with amazingly creative and new ideas. The graphics and sound design are also amazing and some of the best available and unlike 95% of VR games "VR Furballs" is a full length game! not just like a tech demo or really short experience that so many VR games are, which means for the price I dont think you could get better value! for the type of game and for how well it is made I would give this a 10/10, I literally cannot think of a single issue or complaing with this game which I'm sure you all know is extremely rare! I have over 200 VR games on both my Steam accounts and I use a Vive Pro and bought the original Vive almost 3 years ago so I know a fair bit about VR gaming and I can honestly and easilly say this is one of the best VR games available and is a "MUST BUY"! Go buy it now! you wont regret it and you will thank me for the advice, I couldnt be happier with this game!
good priced game , its not exactly the same as angry birds , levels are easy until the last world which is difficult and i didn't beat the last 2 levels yet untill i write these words here , i know there is a level editor but currently you can't open it i think untill finish all levels , there are tools you can use which i didn't see them usefull , i only used slingshot and the gun who you can obtain it at last levels , however if dev manage the tools and add some rules on the game as like you have to use specific tools , it might be more usefull , there are cool minigames also , it will be unlocked with the tool that you obtain , good priced afterall but its better to get it with discount as like me and i see its totally worth it
UPDATE AUG 1st 2018 :-
liked the game even when its priced up , dev is active , butits on itsown i hope if he can make more bigger things on the game , what i liked is the level editor feature its not advanced , simple but nice i can make funny things , beautiful things but i think if you have bigger imagination you make something cool and nice , that feels something unique on this game comparing with angrybird
You've read in other reviews, this is like Angry Birds in VR. But it has a quality of discovery and so many fun options that the comparison doesn't do it justice. So many very clever and thoughtful ways to play and fun things to find. Give it a try! Devs are continuing to do updates.
As a long-time fan of physics-based games, I was instantly interested when I saw the preview videos for this game. I was new to VR (still wasn't used to it enough for Fallout 4 VR and was waiting for Skyrim VR to come out) and this game caught my attention right away when browsing for something lighter to get my feet wet with.
The game is colorful, vibrant, and very easy to pick up and learn. The furballs are cute, and the gameplay is kind of how I would imagine a 3-D Angry Birds to be (only not as angry).
There is a multitude of fun ways to play the game, from the basic slingshot to the airgun, giving the player a number of different ways to beat each level. With the different types of furballs available, each having their own abilities, it is a lot of fun trying to figure out to most efficient way to cause damage and rack up points. There is also a leaderboard for every level that shows the top scores for each tool, allowing you to either just play casual or give yourself a challenge to be the best.
The minigames are also a very fun addition to the game when you want to just mess around and try to top your own scores. I'm particularly fond of the one with the colored holes. By making myself big and just tossing the furballs, it reminds me a lot of a carnival ring-toss game, which I always enjoyed.
All-in-all, it's a very light, fun, and easy game to play. Whenever I am babysitting my nephew, Furballs is usually our go-to game to play together. He enjoys it a lot, especially when using the golfclub. I would highly recommend this game for anyone with older children able to play VR and anyone new to the system to help get used to stepping into the virtual world.
This is quite possibly one of the greatest games I have played on my VR Yet. If you so happened to find this game (and honestly the only reason I did find it was because I have scrolled through literally 4000 games in my queue trying to find some rare "gems" in the rough) and fell in love with the thought of this game. Get this game A.S.A.P if you have ever enjoyed Angry Birds or any mimic game like that. I played this game a little over 3 hours straight aiming for three stars on every stage I came across. Almost done with world 1. Competing for global high scores is a blast and I just came to the realization that I beat steevekilhoffer on a few stages taking first! Now that I noticed he is one of the dev's has given me a burning motivation to play this game more and pass him up on more stages!
Seriously though BUY THIS GAME. Everyone should enjoy the frustrating accomplishments it has to offer! Just like angry birds play it to relax or play it to release some much built up aggression :D Worth every penny!
Very impressed so far! The interface and overall polish is on par with a game x4 this price. Even though the hurl something round at a bunch of other things to knock them over has been done ALOT, the VR element fits way more than Angry Birds did on mobile. The inclusion of a level editor has me optimistic abot this game having legs. Nice progression system. An adorable and inviting little world.
The mini-games don't do much for me at the moment but the main game is supberb and possibly the best casual VR game experince at the moment.
I think you're getting good value for your money with this game. It is like Angry Birds, but it has more variety. Just when you get used to doing it one way, they introduce a new mechanic that completely changes the game. I definitely recommend going for 3 stars on each level, versus trying to blow by the game as quickly as possible.
The graphics are actually much better looking than the screenshots or video would lead you to believe. It also has nice sounds and very smooth gameplay. It does not feel like EA because it has a lot of polish. The only way you'd know it's EA is because some levels say 'coming soon.' It's hard to believe this is a one man dev. This game is perfect for families with kids.
This game is a lot of fun.
You can tell it was designed for VR because you feel really immersed in the colorful world but no sickness at all.
A perfect game to introduce any friend or family to VR.
The mario vibe of the landscape and furballs are super cute!
This game will remind you of Wii Sports and Angry birds.
