An army of literal demons marched straight out of Hell, trampling over the survivors wherever they found them. When they killed, they wore their victims' skins. When they conquered, they seized their enemies' weapons. Powered by supernatural evil and loaded with military hardware, they scattered us and ran us down.
But then she came. At first, we thought she was one of them — a woman in black, with a long gun like a witch's broom and the magical powers to match. Survivors whispered her stories in the alleyways: stories of battles so intense that they leveled whole city blocks, during which she mowed down entire demon regiments with flaming bullets, then shared her own blood to save the wounded. They say she can summon clouds of ravens, call up thorns from the ground, and even conjure up lightning and tornadoes at will.
Maybe she flew down from Heaven. Maybe Hell spat her back out. Either way, she's all we've got.

First released on the Xbox 360 in 2006, Bullet Witch offered a unique combination of Japanese dark-fantasy aesthetics and Western-style military action. This PC re-release brings the title to a new generation of gamers, improving the resolution, framerate, lighting, and game balance.
After an army of demons takes over the world, the human resistance is on the brink of collapse. Just when all hope seems lost, a woman in black appears on the battlefield. She possesses a long gun like a witch's broom and an array of magical powers to match. Taking on the role of this mysterious savior, Alicia, you’ll fight through hordes of demon soldiers, mutated civilians, and even giants.
KEY FEATURES
- This Is My Broomstick
Alicia's gunrod can transform on the fly into four different weapons, each of which can be enchanted for extra punch and special perks. Mow down enemies to charge your magic meter, then can call down thunderbolts, tornadoes, and even meteors to blast the rest of them to kingdom come. Few gaming heroines have ever wielded as much raw power as Alicia at her peak. - The Path of Destruction
Nothing is safe from your wrath, least of all the environment around you. Your magic can tear the roofs off of buildings, ignite an entire gas station, or level towers. If any enemies survive, use your telekinesis on the rubble to throw it at them and crush them flat. - You Are Not Alone
Your strength and bravery will inspire the battle-hardened resistance fighters around you, and soon enough, they'll fight by your side. Use your magic to keep them alive, and they just might return the favor. - All DLC Included
The PC release of Bullet Witch includes all the original game's costumes and bonus missions for free. (Beat the game once to unlock the latter; the costumes are available from the start.)

I have always enjoyed this game ever since it first came out. I think the first Four or so times I beat this game was on the Xbox 360. The controls need a little updating but even without that it is still very good.
No name off-brand Bayonetta minus the charm, character and polish. Still, not bad time overall. Decent shooting and a number of extras included.
A great campy time!

Alright... let me get to the point as fast as I can...
I'm not gonna sugarcoat it: Don't buy this piece of-
Bullet Witch is just one big pile of problems and shortcomings with an utterly tedious and boring game attached to it, with some PC specific problems and broken stuff which were to be expected, given the track record of Marvelous and XSEED on this platform.
All of the cutscenes in the game are hardlocked to 20 fps which makes them jarring and unbearable to watch. The draw distance is so atrocious that you constantly see models popping in and out of existence right in front of you, with their shadows accompanying them; So sometimes you see entire pieces of the world and their shadows disappearing and reappearing after taking a few steps. Merely pausing the game causes the music to cut off and stop playing for the remainder of the level. The vibration feature is used for whenever you shoot the gun, forcing you to turn it off or endure constant vibrations for the remainder of your playthrough. The props you see in the levels, such as planks of wood and barrels, have no collision unless attacked so you can literally run through them. The default controller camera sensitivity is so high that I had to turn it to the lowest possible value in order to be able to aim. The game will refuse to instantly save the changes you make in the options menu while in-game, requiring you to either finish the level or quit it, meaning you will lose them if it crashes beforehand.
The game drops frames every once in a while because of engine issues and regardless of your PC's specifications, with connecting a controller to your PC being one of the solutions that may or may not fix it. Shadows are completely broken and appear jagged. The spells sometimes refuse to work. The shooting animation is broken, with the main character's left hand being misaligned and never holding the gun's barrel. The load times are long, regardless of using either SSD or HDD. Most of the settings can only be changed through the game's external configuration app, which will not save your changes if you exit it instead of launching the game immediately afterwards. And I haven't even started to talk about the gameplay!
WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE DEVS OF NIER REPLICANT/GESTALT AND DRAKENGARD MADE THIS?!
I kid you not, I struggled to keep playing this game for over 30 minutes at a time because of how bland and boring it was, and very quickly decided that I actually don't care enough to dedicate my free time to continue playing it.
The level design is incredibly uninspired, with them even having depressing shades of brown and blue that were very overused in the games of that era. Not only that, the levels are also needlessly big and mostly empty, so sometimes you have absolutely no idea about where you have to go next. What makes the situation worse is the placement of the enemies in the level, as they really feel like they were just randomly placed with no actual thought or reason behind their positions. And despite all that, the main character is too damn slow. It feels like it's taking ages just to go from one side of the level to the other, with the dash move being this one at a time, short burst of speed that requires you to constantly open the skills wheel in order to use it. It's also very janky, so hitting a vehicle while dashing causes the main character to fall through the map, forcing you to restart.
The final nail in the gameplay's coffin is how uninteresting the gunfights are for a third person shooter. I played this game on normal mode and found the basic enemies to be barely threatening with questionable artificial intelligence, as sometimes they would ignore the main character to shoot at a random civilian, fail to respond to her presence correctly, or shoot rockets at the ground. On the other hand, some enemy types such as snipers and thrown/falling debris can literally one shot you; So not only the death caused by them are purely painful, but also you never know the flying debris caused by the spells and explosions will cause your playable character to die or not.
TL;DR
Bullet Witch is one of the worst third person shooters of all time with an even worse PC port, and in no possible way of the "so bad it's good" kind. Do your time and wallet a favor and ignore it.
Very intresting game with lots of cool ideas. I wish this game got a sequel that expanded on all the ideas this game had.
There is a world where this game is good, and I wished I lived in it. I can imagine a timeline where this is a fun character action game with a unique twist of playing more like a run and gun shooter that happens to include magic because our heroine is a witch.
But this is the bad timeline of course, so Bullet Witch is nothing like what it could be.
The combat is very boring due to a lack of feedback, weak sound effects and lackluster enemy reactions, alongside a very small roster of which only the godawful snipers who can instakill you and telepathic brains are any danger. The magic powers range from useless to counter intuitive, with any power that can move physics objects around being a danger as you die of a single hit from any passing debris. The animations can look nice atleast, like the literal raven attack.
Levels are also needlessly too big, and in some cases, unclear of where to go next. They look really damn ugly and barren too, ranging between discount Modern Warfare and a mediocre Garry's Mod map. The environmental destruction and physics are neat at times, but since they can kill you, it's like rolling a dice on it hurting enemies or you.
Finally, the story is basically a nothing burger. I was interested in the character for about 2 chapters before it was clear they would do basically nothing with her and the other two (!) characters that even have dialogue for more than a single scene.
A shame this game came as is, because it honestly is so easy to see how the same concept well executed could be a pretty cool title.
good as Bayonetta
Good idea's with a decent plot and the very dated visuals. The combat felt very shallow and could have used more variety in general.
The game is really rough and depending on the person basically borderline unplayable with the frame rate, and the 20 fps cutscene's which is so odd for a pc port made pretty recently.
The combat has unique idea's but falls short with shallow gun play and with the janky feel of the game in general, the witchcraft/spells add more variety but then you realize that they don't give you a lot to play with but for the 5 hours you are gonna be playing this game, it's good enough ig.
Overall it feels odd for a pc port to feel so poorly made in general like this but we live in dark age of gaming, so this is unfortunate but you will find a enjoyable experience with the decent story and characters but I would also say lower your expectations for the gameplay because it barely improves beyond a point.
6/10
Not recommended, the game stutters a lot even with a 3090 and a Radeon 5600, the loading times are way too long even on a SSD
bayonetta but good
Just had a quick go with this game on my steam deck. Seems to work fine.
The ideas of the game are solid, but the practice is. . . well, questionable at best.
It's not bad, just a little slow at times, at least is small, so i doesn't outstay it's welcome.
As an average enjoyer of B-grade games, It was mediocre for me, although I wouldn’t recommend it. It lacks both plot and gameplay. I hardly used the spells. A witch with a gun is a unique concept, but it was executed poorly.
Despite this review being "Not Recommended", i'd say you SHOULD play this game IF you enjoy tastefully mediocre console era third-person shooters.
I don't even know, so i'll just make a list of things that i found during my time with Bullet Witch that i think are deserving a highlight. Let's start with the Technical Part:
- The game stutters and lags if you don't have a controller plugged in;
- The game stuttered and lagged badly on my outdated laptop, specifically on open and foggy maps (there's a level that combines both and my frames dropped to 6 FPS during that);
- One map is so goddamn full of fog, you can't see ANYTHING in front of you;
- Settings changes you make in the game's launcher don't save (or maybe it's because my game just crashed a bit later after i changed some settings);
- The game might crash. It crashed when i casted one of the super spells in an big open foggy map.
- The game is janky. Expect to fall through the map (happened to me once) when dashing or absolute chaos ensuing when you cast the last super spell you unlock (crashes).
- Finishing the game on Hard will not give you achievements for Easy and Normal. You have to beat the game 5 times on every difficulty to 100% it. It took me 4 hours to beat Bullet Witch on Normal.
The Story:
- The story is here alright;
- So, a guy mourns his family member's death and summons demons to revive the said family member. Demons kill almost everyone on the planet;
- You play as a mysterious (Bullet) Witch that hunts down demons and is looking for the biggest one;
- There's like, a dude and his resistance army;
- Also 90% of the enemies are US Marines that were possessed by demons that possess evil people specifically;
- The main villain is a big demon. He's just there;
- "Witches don't need... prayers" (cheesy writing);
- Melodrama;
- Bullet Witch was made by Cavia. The same people that made Nier and Drakengard. THIS IS THE CLOSEST YOU GET TO DRAKENGARD ON PC.
The Gameplay:
- THERE IS DASH. OPEN A MAGIC WHEEL (MMB) AND PRESS LSHIFT. BUT BE CAREFUL YOU MIGHT FALL THROUGH THE MAP;
- Run, gun, cover. Crouch, aim, dodge. Bullet Witch is a console era 3rd person cover shooter. It gets pretty stale very quickly;
- Enemy types are not much and are all pretty boring to fight. Although, some of them are straight up frustrating and annoying. You will see which ones;
- There is a very basic upgrade system. HP and MP regen. Gun damage. Spell upgrades.
- The Witch has 4 different types of GUN. A Rifle, a Shotgun, a Cannon(more like a big rifle) and a Gatling gun;
The rifle and the cannon's bullets have travel time so the cannon is pretty terrible at sniping (it also has a terrible accuracy) unless you use Elemental Shot which gives it a scope and makes it a hitscan gun;
The rifle is what i used 80% of the time, with the cannon being the rest 20%. Shotgun is pretty bad and the Gatling is supposedly just a better rifle, but it's pretty expensive so i didn't unlock it;
- The Witch has magic. Unlock them in the upgrade shop. Super spells are unlocked through the game. 9 spells grouped in 3 wheels:
1st wheel - Ancient Wall (spawns a wall for a very short time), Elemental Shot (GUN buffs - RIfle shoots fire bullets, Shotgun has more knockback, Cannon gets a scope and becomes a hitscan weapon, Gatling idk i didn't unlock it), Rose Spear (throws a rose that spawns spears from the ground, terrible range and it's hitboxes are terrible, can miss enemies even if you throw it right under their feet);
2nd wheel - Sacrifice (heals friendly NPCs, absolutely useless but the survival rate of NPCs affects your rank), Willpower (pushes small objects, every time i tried to use it the objects were too big to move. Worked only one time for me), Ravens Panic (send ravens, stunning enemies);
3rd wheel - super spells. Kill a lot of enemies and break things around;
Ancient Wall's duration is bad but it's usable. Rose Spear's hitboxes are weird and janky, it also requires upgrading to become useful. Willpower is very situational. Ravens and Elemental Shot ftw. Also TWO OF THREE super spells are pretty janky and can miss enemies a lot;
- Some maps are very linear. Some are semi-open and have forking paths. Some maps require a ton of backtracking and looking for
keysenemies that unlock colored barriers when killed;
- One map gets reused;
- The game has some really impressive destructible environments on a couple of maps. All can be tested with super spells or some explosions;
- Boss fights can be pretty frustrating. Ughhhhhhh;
- Some enemies are really fucking frustrating;
- When you finish a chapter, the game shows you a silly newspaper headline about a thing The Witch did in the chapter;
- Friendly NPCs sometimes give you food that heals you and it's such an obscure and stupid mechanic.
Miscellaneous:
- Soldier enemies have some amusing voices (that usually range from a typical evil grunt voice to a creepy high pitched evil voice) and phrases. They taunt, scream in pain, yell in amazement and some even beg for mercy (and it's hilarious). When you cast a super spell they say: "What?! How did you do that!?" or "This must be some powerful magic!". I wish i could just extract all these phrases from the game's files. People that voiced these enemies deserve a compliment;
- Console era western mediocre 3rd person shooter vs console era eastern mediocre 3rd person shooter;
- FUCK FREAKY WHITE FLYING GHOSTS;
- When in doubt, LIGHTING;
- I feel like i didn't lose much but i also gained so little;
- The Voice in our head doesn't get any explanation whatsoever despite being one of the best and most useful characters;
- I think this game was made from the scraps of 3 or 4 different games. A Frankenstein's Monster. (Why do i feel like this describes a lot of games from that time);
- That blonde guy gives me the creeps;
[*]Green hair sweep.
It is quite a cheap, trashy game with large empty open spaces and very unimpactful shooting mechanics that try to mimic the Gungrave series. But it has its charm, and with some effort, it could have become a decent franchise. But now it is a relic of the past. Try it on sales.
Delicious, hilarious and memorable kusoge, may or may not run on your system. Try it on sale.
fun janky game. I see the vision and appreciate it for what it is a budget 2006 game.
The gameplay with a bit more polish and refinement would turn this into a solid game easily.
- give dash a dedicated keybind (shift key)
- allow movement in any direction during the dash
- jump could be buffed to have more height, air control, faster animation,
- animation to ready weapons could be sped up greatly
- spells need a buff all around. Lightning dominates
- allow binding spells to keys
- label spells for keyboards since the UI still uses xbox controls
- fix janky animations like Alicia's stance animations resetting every milisecond when aiming at high framerates (she is really wonky at 144 fps)
- graphical settings to push this game to better visual settings
- fix glitchy shadows
fingers crossed that a modder can give this game the love and polish it deserves
Well... Given the time this game came out , 2006, it´s a pretty solid action shooting game with some magic elements. Cinematography is ... trashy in a fine way. The game undestands itself as a playable over the top b-movie and while it´s far from being awesome, or balanced... or having a top notch story... i still like it.
It´s a challange. I would not buy it for it´s whole 15 Euro but on a sale between 5 and 8 Euro it´s around nine solid hours of gameplay.
tim rogers may have admitted to sexually assaulting a woman in his 2010 autobiography, but he was nevertheless correct about this game kicking ass. popping a tornado in the forest level owns. the golem guys own. even the stuff that doesn't own owns. good port too. play with controller. get the jp voice mod off nexus. Time is money hurry up brother
The only interesting thing about this terrible game about a witch that specializes in guns, that came out three years before Bayonetta, is that one of the gun sound effects is a blaster sound effect ripped straight from Star Wars.
I got bored immediately, I had high hopes for this game because it looked so interesting. But then again, I played a lot of third-person shooters and this one doesn't pump the hype for me, unfortunately. I will give it a chance someday on the next sales but it's a no for now.
Oh my god
She's no Bayonetta, but she is able to manage on her own without Stylish Moves as she strolls down main street like a Terminator with her trusty "Broomstick" and Storm Powers.
I have played this back when it was released on xbox. It does feel better on pc although idk if its the game or my pc but some colors were off and dull. You can bind keys for controls. There is a setup before you start the game just don't click (don't show again) in case you need to make some changes to the res or something it'll pop up for you every time you start it up. Now the videos for me are not always smooth they are kind of choppy at times but the gameplay is great!
Bayonetta
can only recommend if you are someone who enjoys the "charm" of poorly ported games with corny characters/story
It's a dumb, bad game without any redeeming qualities. It's not even funny-bad, really. But it is surprisingly tolerable. It's short, simple, and easy. Walk around the shitty levels shooting shitty guns at shitty bad guys. Yeah, that's fine. I'll eat Burger King once in a while, why not?
I was fine with it, but I won't recommend it because it is not for normal people.
Who asked for this to be ported to PC?
I'm very glad it's here but who was this madman?
Engine is great for the time it came out. story is a mess with a short campaign. VA is pretty bad cutscenes are choppy. However I think that it probably has some of the coolest mechanics I've seen in any game. You get to call down lightning, tornadoes and meteors. I still have yet to see any game implement something of that scale. good game if you can get past the age and story being a little rough.
the only thing mid about this game is the point in the 2000s it was released
I still have the physical 360 copy of this game, but being able to play Bullet Witch on Steam was a blast from the past that I needed. This is purely a video game, not trying to be anything special or preachy at all. It is not ground breaking at all, but one area does stick out to me, which is the ability to destroy the environment. This looks amazing and is incredibly enjoyable even now. There is something about conjuring a tornado and watching it tear buildings apart and ensnaring multiple helicopters that is just pure joy. I would love to see a sequel-dream on- or a game that takes this style of game and builds on what was created here.
This will not be for everybody, but it was a good distraction from the other games I have been playing. I 100% recommend a sale, the game doesn't change much beyond levels. As I was playing through this, I was thinking this game could have had an amazing sequel if more effort was put into it. Don't take this game too seriously and you may enjoy it.
