One of the better VR games

Even with the 80% discount, it's not worth it. There's barely any content, lacking in instructions and just a poor excuse for a VR game. Sorry, DH, Dreadout was an awesome game but this just doesn't do it for me.
Game was enjoyable but I feel sorta cheated. I was hoping for a more phasmophbia type Indonesian folklore ghost experience, ended up being a more linear story based experience.
Game was also janky as hell, ingredients weren't registering that they were in the pot, instructions on the sheet were unclear.
The rituals acted more like a level select for mini experience that made no sense to me, maybe they'd make more sense if I played the other games.
Not with $12, glad I got it on sale for $2.50
DreadEye VR is a game that had potential and great ideas but the execution is INCREDIBLY poor.
The game starts with the player being moved in a wheelchair, suggesting seated play. Every instance you see your character in, they're sitting. Then you are presented by the core gameplay loop; doing a ritual with different ingredients being put in a cauldron. This spawns a ghost, you give the ghost attention and then they leave, leaving you an item behind. Sometimes you get teleported to a "nightmare sequence" where sometimes you can interact with, some other times you just watch.
The way the ghosts work is that they *need* to be watched for them to leave. Once you watched them enough, a sound will appear on your left, right or behind you, with the intention to make you turn.
Once you do, you are rewarded with a jumpscare and the ghost leaving.
If you're used to horror games and their ambient noise, this will make the experience incredibly frustrating because all you will think about is "WHY IS IT NOT MOVING I AM FLASHING THEM JUST LIKE THE GAME TOLD ME TO".
I feel like the worst aspect of this comes when the game makes you look behind you because you can only really do that if your chair can spin or if you're standing. My chair is like the cheapest thing ever so I ended up having to play standing.
Small problem with playing standing is that you're gonna have to recalibrate the space boundaries and then switch to seating again for the cutscenes and everything will become an offsync buggy mess.
To make this worse, the achievements will hinder your experience.
One asks you to play the game ignoring all calls (AKA with your phone permanently buzzing), another one by never resetting the ingredients (meaning that if because of physics shenanigans or a ghost fucking up your setup, say goodbye to this achievement), another one by beating it under one hour (this is where you can notice all of the flaws in the game's design and it's incredibly frustrating to get if you don't know how the ghosts work) and there's one for having bought another of the developer's games.
The nightmare sequences of the game is the only good part of this game because they actually offer something more other than just jumpscares.
In conclusion: DreadEye VR has something to offer, but it is so incredibly not worth it I really cannot recommend anyone from trying this one out.

I played dreadeye vr DEMO long time ago.
All you would do was sit and watch stuff around you.
Epic and scary. A woman with scissors. Dead bodies. And so on.
Now that i bought the game, it became nothing like that. Why did it change so much?
The shots from that DEMO game is still here. But its not like that anymore....

ok I really liked the game and I wanted to play it even more because I felt it was very short, less than two hours or 1 hour if you're quick, my favorite part was the one with the nurse, I hope they release a second part but I doubt it, It has jump scares but nothing that is going to give you a heart attack so it is good for those who are just starting out in the world of horror. 100% recommended, but be careful only buy on sale because the price is not worth it because it is not very long although it is quite fun and I am not a horror fan.
Maybe the most aimless, senseless thing I've ever played, VR or not. You warp from scene to scene without any explanation or reason, one second you're cooking stew made of rats and bugs and peppers, hanging out with awkward ghosts that hand you pieces of themselves so you can summon other ghosts, and then you're for some random reason at a russian roulette table, then you'll be wheeling around in a chair with random monsters stabbing you? And then for some reason you have guns and you're shooting at zombie things and the dude from where the wild things are. Then you have a knife, and when you swing it fires exploding laser beams from the ceiling at creatures that can't seem to even damage you as you struggle to understand why this game has such positive reviews and if it was even worth the $1.50 you paid for it.
Any of these reviews that say this is one of the best VR horror experiences out there must have literally never played any other VR horror games, because it's easily on any list of the worst. And not for nothing, I've never met an Indonesian shaman, but I'm absolutely confident this is not some ish they do.
Short horror game where you stand still and brew some potions, the atmosphere is nice and in the usual DreadOut experience, the game is a little jank
It only really takes an hour to get through, but considering how cheap this goes on sales, it's worth looking into
I've given this game a few chances on different setups, different headsets, different graphics cards.... and it runs like trash on everything. WMR, Rift S, Quest 2 (with link cable, airlink, virtual desktop) all have different issues. There are major reprojection problems so everything is blurry/out of focus/not aligned, menus and interactions don't work properly, the sound comes and goes as it pleases... it's just an awful experience all around. Even on my new setup with an i7 and 3060 I get like 15-30 fps.
Not worth it, even for the $2CAD I paid for it.

I would like to give this game a "neutral" rating.
It's funny and a little scary, not too much, but could be fun to show it to friends
however, the controls are clunky, the menus are bugging horribly, the graphics and animations are very "cheap"
Also I can't proceed with the one ghost where the red stuff "Proceed at own risk" is written. I tried it several times, just nothing happens. Therefore I stopped playing it now.
Grab it on Sale.
It took me around 2 hours to beat the game so it's a little short.

This game isn't support for Windows Mixed Reality. The video does not align correctly for each eye, and you end up playing the game cross-eyed. There is nothing in the game settings or WMR configuration that fixes this. And, it does not appear the developer has plans to support WMR.
This is so far the scariest VR game I've played. The first time I played it I had to take a break part of the way through and get away from it lol. The immersion is real good because the graphics and VR was done wonderfully. This game is basically a potion simulator with ghosts. You follow the spell book and summon ghosts. Later in the game it warps you to a nightmarish realm with real scary visuals. It's not long and it's not a survival game like the DreadOut games. You interact with the cauldron and stuff you have to mix in it and the rest is an experience. You can complete this game pretty quick on one playthrough. Toward the end there's other stuff you can interact with like shooting stuff. Overall it's a great game for anyone who's a fan of horror. You'll be like, "Wow that's scary...oh wait...OH CRAP!"

Sometimes if a candle isn't sitting properly on the surface after moving them the "spell" won't proceed. If you play this and you've done everything correctly and nothing is happening, make sure all the candles are sitting straight on whatever they're sitting on and not crooked.

This has got to be one of the creepiest, nastiest little scarefest I have ever played. My hat is off to the sick puppy who made this game. If you were to make something with a reasonable length, I'd be there, but at a shade over an hour, this isn't worth a full game's price.
After playing the demo, I was really looking forward to this, but unfortunately the game is full of critical bugs. I tried to fight through, but finally I reached a point where I can't even proceed any further because shooting doesn't work :/ Tried restarting a few times, still cannot shoot, and then the game crashed completely so I'm giving up.
If you're getting this because it looks like a horror version of waltz of the wizard
, just know it's definitely nothing like waltz of the wizard. The gameplay is very linear - you finish one thing then move on to the next; you can't just conjure up anything you want.As for the horror, I definitely had chills going through my body, but I got used to it fairly quickly.
There are definitely some bugs to work out in this game - the rituals don't always seem to work; I end up having to reset the table several times. And the ending with the knife didn't seem to work either.
Overall, it was a decent silent hill-esque experience.
If there's one part you got right with this game is the gunslinging; I feel like Dante from devil may cry. But... this part of the game feels out of place...
As a few others have stated, this game is a ghostly waltz of the wizard, it is very smilar but you're stationed in one spot, you cannot move around. The intro to the game is overly long and very unimpressive, I would of appreciated it, if they took the extra time to make it better and more engaging.
When you finally get into the game, you'll be referencing the book and following it's instructions to summon the spirits, which I really liked, it was kind of cool. And during the summoning of the first couple of ghost I was genuinely feeling apprehensive. But each of the first few were very dissapointing.
There were only a few good moments in this game, the mirror scene and the room scene with the black ghost. (I'm trying not to give anything away should you decide to purchase). And the ending was quite pathetic in my opinion.
I refunded my purchase of this game because I really did not feel it was worth it's asking price for what the game is. Overall it felt very lazy to me, save for a few scenes.
I really don't feel that I can reccomend it, but I will definitely keep an eye out for future games to see if they can improve as it does have a lot of potential.
This was the first scary demo I tried back in the days when all we had was oculus DK2 and man was I scared. Now it's back and it's a full game.
Basically you mix together all kind of stuff and summon ghosts, the dead etc. by doing so. Some summonings will also take you to different scary scenes away from your mixing station. I believe it's 4 scenes, but I must have accedently skipped a reciepie because I only unlocked 3. Anyhow, just 2 of the scenes were worth the money alone almost.
The only problem I had was with one scene where I was suppose to do some shooting. Basically the guns just kept spinning around and I could only shoot 1 shot sometimes. Couldn't quite figure out why the guns were spinning around and why I could only shoot 1 shot.
Apart from that this game was awesome and scary as hell. You wont regret buying this.
I was pretty scared at the beginning since I don't know what awaits me there. The prologue was spooky and very immersive. The story is very simple and seems to be not really important. The goal is to do rituals and summon the dead. The ritual book offers from pretty harmless troublemakers to very dangerous ones. There ain't much interactions ingame beside the summoning performance.
The playlength is 1,5h - 2,0h which is rather short. There is a scene which is just out of place and not scary at all and the nightmare experience in the demo is considered as one full ritual ingame which is also the longest one so it does feels rather short on content imo. Still, the price is affordable and some rituals are pretty scary so I'm not really complaining here... just hope they will add more content later and turn this into a real gem.
I guess this is a no brainer for DreadOut fans. Just do a refund if it doesn't meet your expectations.
It's like Waltz of the Wizard but with heart palpitations.
Ok, so I'm a big DreadOut fan which means I might be a little biased. If you haven't played DreadOut, btw, go do that. You don't need to play it before you play this but it's just a great game. It's like an indie Fatal Frame. As for this game, you mix ingredients according to your instructions and then shine a flashlight at a ghost, rinse & repeat and this is all that happens for a bit. After a few rounds of that, though, you start having some kind of psychic reenactment of various peoples' lives as they died which is a bit more interesting. The amount of interaction during these segments varies. Some have no interaction, some have scripted events you have to trigger and some are full-on mini game modes.
I can't say how long the game is right now but I feel like I'm about halfway through at a little under an hour of playtime so it's not incredibly long but it's more than I expected. At $15 I feel many people might be put off by a 2ish hour game but it is well put together and rather spooky so I will recommend it. I'll also be updating this section with a final playtime and some final thoughts once I complete it.
Edit: I was a little more than half finished at the time of the above writing. The final playtime was about 75 minutes. The final ritual and subsequent psychic vision were pretty cool and got me a bit squeamish. Overall, I liked it but I wouldn't argue with someone about the dollar to content ratio. It is pretty short. I would love to see a full DreadOut game in VR with a working camera/phone and everything. I hope DH keeps up the good work.
