Cool robots. Cool soundtrack. Cool weapons. Adictive gameplay.
Me likes game.
great game but what the fuck is the point of endless mode if the first boss is just 2 enemies that spam projectiles in an arena smaller than a toilet bowl. im sick of killing iris for the 50th time i want to play endless mode but it feels shitty lowering the difficulty when i can reliably solo iris on guardian 2.
Great game, original and entertaining, took 30 runs to finish it in Hard difficulty. Highly recommended.
Low time showing here because I played the free demo (thanks!) a good amount before actually buying the game. The demo initially ran oddly choppy on my PC then mysteriously sorted itself out. Full game is running fine.
Anyway, pretty much the FPS I've been looking for - nice presentation, not too much story, and a large, satisfying collection of weapons. Just a reasonably challenging shooter without all the splatter to jump into every now and then.
Not really comparable to Borderlands (the first game) other than it's a shooter with lots of different guns, and it also takes place (so far) in a desert environment that has a vaguely similar cartoony casual art style. Not as funny or as gory as Borderlands, and no looting, just shooting - and that's fine. :)
An excellent game to play alone or with a friend. Has a lot of build diversity, but can sometimes troll you by never offering you the thing you're looking for. Some builds are stronger than others i.e crit > everything else.
Been looking into modding for this game as I believe it would help with the endgame getting stale but there is no modding support out of the box.
this game is fun and ever gets old ps i love surperbot
Quite similar to Ultrakill or Doom gameplay wise, at least for a rogue-like.
Some of the best mechanics in a rogue like that I have experienced. Tons of fun little secrets and lots of replay ability. Out of my Rogue like collection this one is one that I always come back to.
Doom Eternal meets Borderlands - you get RoboQuest. High speed gameplay, randomized loot and a banger soundtrack - what else do you need?
First things first: there are a lot of guns, but they work more or less like in Borderlands 2 - same thing in different package. There is no legendary that shoots a bunny rocket, or a flying bird made of bullets - just your usual white - purple guns.
Class system isn't really unique, you get different melee, an ability and a passive (apart from a secret class) for each one. But that dosn't matter, because your builds can and will go crazy. Game has a ton of passive items and they synergize very well between your upgrades and eachother. Each class has upgrades to fit any playstyle - crit or elemental, melee or abilities, heavy guns or speedy throwing knifes - and everything can combine really well. You want to play with explosive akimbo shotguns, and have a followers that can mark down enemies and take some heat off you? Or maybe you want to play a sniper, shooting a single crit bullet that will bounce between enemies and clear the whole room? How about a spell caster that dosn't even need a gun to win a game? RoboQuest will make that happen. It's not as insane as The Binding of Issac, but pretty darn good.
Lastly, game has very little random in terms of enemies, maps and guns. If you are good enough at movement - you can beat the game with anything and nothing will stop you. And that's my main problem with this game.
RoboQuest dosn't have tier F and S guns or upgrades. Everything is viable and that gets boring fast. Maps are not random, enemies are preplaced and by playing enough you will start to see the pattern. You won't find a crazy room full of only big flying elites, or a minefield of burrowed shotgunners. In the end you get the feeling like you are replaying the same levels over and over again, just like replaying Doom Eternal campaing. The problem is, Roboquest is a rougelike, but it dosn't feel like one.
All in all it took me a little less then 20 hours to unlock everything (I did look up a guide here and there). Im on my way to defeating Guardian IV (hardest difficulty game has to offer) and playing some Endless mode, but after that - not much to do.
So why do I recomend RoboQuest? Well, time I spent playing it was fun. There is no bullshit "Oh, im hiding in a rock and im invincible now, have fun waiting for me to pop up" enemies, or undodgable attacks that fill your screen, leaving you blind. Getting good at the game feels nice and rewarding, blasting through maps and seeing S rank at the end of the run makes me proud and happy. RoboQuest is a good game, but sadly it's not a good rougelike. Get it on sale and you won't regret it.
How have I not written a review for Roboquest yet?
This is a game I'll be revisiting for the rest of my gaming days, just a pure & good experience where every element is in service to fun.
The movement in this game is satisfying in a way that brings to mind things Apex Legends and Team Fortress 2. You can rocket jump, grappling hook, slide, slam, dash, and grind however much you want while blasting your way through hordes of deadly robots.
The weapon variety is phenomenal, truly, and doesn't shy away from either end of the spectrum - if you want to go at every enemy in the game with a pair of frying pans or a shovel? You're welcome to try! By that same token there are guns that launch torpedoes, laser crossbows, mortar launchers, handheld missile pods, and vacuums full of bees. You can pick the tools you prefer, or venture outside your comfort zone and have an entirely different experience.
I adore the aesthetic, the visuals will hold up for years to come with their cartoon emphasis and flat textures. The narrative world itself feels a bit thinly laid, but really is extraneous to the overall experience anyway - the story and overall narrative is just fine, and that's all it really needs to be. It kinda just stays out of your way as much as possible, told only in brief comic-style cutscenes and the odd in-game quip or data log.
The music is incredible. Noisescream delivers on something so special with the soundtrack here. It starts off great and only ascends from there with each new stage. Keep in mind you're listening to these songs loop for the entire stage. I'm 90-some hours in and I have not muted the music in this game yet, even though it's the perfect kind of game to play your own music on top of. Roboquest's soundtrack is almost essential to the experience, as if the levels themselves were built on these songs. The final stage theme isn't just good for a video game, it's one of my favorite songs of all time, period, and instills the experience with some much needed emotional pull.
I mean, I always do this and get carried away, I could write out my thoughts on this one all day. What you need to know is that this is a rogue-lite first person shooter with excellent movement, satisfying gun play, poppy cartoon visuals, and an absolute banger of a soundtrack. Throw on top of that, it's a family-friendly experience, too, and no worse for it. Just good, clean fun at a great price.
You can & will easily get your money's worth from this one, absolutely highly recommended.
It’s one of those games where the moment-to-moment gameplay just clicks. Movement is super tight, guns feel punchy, and every run somehow ends with me saying “just one more.”
There’s a good mix of chaos and control — you’re constantly moving, dodging, experimenting with different builds. The weapon variety keeps things interesting, and even the art style grew on me fast. It’s colorful without being annoying.
Played a bunch solo, then tried it in co-op — total game changer. Way more fun when you’re yelling at a friend mid-run trying not to die. Devs clearly care too, updates actually improve stuff.
It’s not trying to be the most complex rogue-lite out there, but what it does, it does really well.
this game has reached its end of updates.
and it's fabulous as it is.
the devs thanked the community for the journey.
it was a good one.
if you haven't been a part of it, i encourage you to give it a try, especially on sale.
roboquest is a fun roguelike arena shooter. you're a robot and your girlfriend asks you to save the world.
you can play with friends, up to four, i believe??????? (maybe this is false and it's actually duo???)
the game length is kinda very extensive. it doesn't end at the first playthrough.
yeah 200 hrs spent.
10/10 DOOM WITH ROBOTS ROGUELIKE
Cons:
- Meta unlocks artificially increase play time because without them it is hard to complete a run on normal difficulty. I’d rather spend the first 10 hours focusing on learning game and characters’ mechanics than on farming unlocks.
Pros:
- Dynamic battles. Due to the relatively slow speed of most enemies’ projectiles, constant movement is much more efficient than shooting from cover. Grappling hook and jetpack with low cooldowns help you to achieve this.
- Better performance is rewarded. At the end of each location you will get two ranks depending on how many enemies you killed and how fast you completed that location. Higher ranks yield more currency which could be spent on upgrades in run. This motivates you to destroy as many robots and as fast as you can.
- Second weapon automatically reloads. You will most of the time switch weapons instead of reloading, which provides more damage and variety.
- Good weapon and character variety. There are melee weapons, pistols, shotguns, bows and crossbows, assault and sniper rifles, rocket launchers and turrets. Characters also add variety: you can play as melee charger, tank, ranger or summons host. However some classes and weapons are weaker in my opinion: for example you usually don’t want to be at melee range and weapons with longer time between shots like sniper rifles and rocket launchers could be harder to use in fast battles.
- Performance is great on low end pc and I haven’t had any crashes or significant bugs.
- Good soundtrack which fits the game well.
- Multiple difficulty levels available from the start.
[*]COOP for 2 players which runs great. Both players will need a copy of the game though.
This is my favorite of the FPS roguelike genre, and one of my examples of Early Access actually working well. The devs clearly listened to community feedback, had many cycles of iterating on things, and in my opinion delivered a really solid game. I'm excited to see what they make next.
I think it plays better co-op than it does solo -- if you're looking for an excellent PvE shooty shooty funtime with friends, this is way up there in the rankings of that sort of thing.
Very fun and addicting game; I had a good time with it. Would recommend for any fan of the roguelite genre.
Badass fps roguelite
Badass gameplay
Badass replayability
Badass soundtrack
Badass robots
10 HELL YEAH out of 10
End Of The Journey - Press F
game is fucking awesome if you enjoy roguelites and fps you are gonna love this
played it with my cousin was really fun :)
ps... dont go for 100% steam achivements rng made me wonna touch grass....
11/10 Very Fun Shooter Rogue Like with great replayability, especially if you smoke weed. You'll never remember any of the levels.
Very entertaining casual game.
I am sad to hear them say they are done with the game, especially without adding a few more guns and enemies
But all in all it is definitely worth picking it up at some point.
Many different builds to go for, with a good difficulty scale option.
Start to finish, jam packed with non stop action.
Aswell as a few sprinkles of hidden unlockables.
If you are on the edge about picking it up, download the free demo (which is even co-op!)
It only lets you get to the 1st boss, but still shows off the game quite well
The game has reached the end as far as updates, but deserves every positive review it has received. Devs really showed what a fps roguelite should be. Definitely raised the bar on what the genre should look like and can't wait to see their next project.
Great roguelite FPS with awesome graphics, fun gunplay, and just the right amount of content. It's excellent in single-player and even better if you bring a friend.
The level of polish on this is just outstanding. If I were being paid per word I'd mention everything I like about it, but I'm not, so i just want to add another thumbs up to their overall score.
The textbook definition of a sleeper hit, Roboquest is on par, if not better than some of the best modern shooters out there right now.
Gun play & movement are just *chefs kiss. The art style is very similar to Borderlands, if you enjoy that bright, cel-shaded vibe. Roboquest has a lot more in common with games like Gunfire Reborn however, it's a deep rogue-like FPS that truly excels in every way.
If you even have a passing interest in FPS games or boomer shooters, this one is a no-brainer.
this game is lit, grab a bro-bot and complete it
Holy shit, there is so extremely much in this game! Trust me, the gameplay trailer does not do this games' feel justice at all! Getting strong in this game feels as good as getting strong in Risk of Rain 2, and that's saying a TON. This kind of supreme gameplay with an absolute banger soundtrack by goddamn noisecream is so peak.
One of the best games ever made, and i've played quite a few (even some other good ones).
This game is like shit , because roqwen have stopped playing with me deadzone rogue because of this shitty game
This game is kinda nuts.
There are so many different ways to deal damage and weapons to chose from.
Not to mention that beating the game actually feels like an accomplishment
I have no regrets buying Roboquest, It's been fun all the way through so far—well... except the endless mode. I've obtained everything in-game, nearly every acheivement, and have beaten the game on the hardest difficulty (with S Rank) with every character except Elementalist. The artstyle is awesome and the gameplay is nicely fast-paced with a generous skill floor and fun skill ceiling to master. It's been one of the best games I've played in the past couple of years, genuinely.
Its a great game. A fast paced, very tight FPS with lots to unlock, a great difficulty overall and so many weapons and ways to play it. Give it a try!
Upgrade guns,shoot robots,win.Peak game ngl
I played another roguelite FPS so bad that I actually felt the urge to come back and leave a proper review for this game.
Roboquest is to other games in the genre in the same way that a good restaurant-quality hamburger is to a bulk food service frozen patty that your stepdad chars to annihilation on the grill. You can dress it up; hell, if your stepdad doesn't completely carbonize it, it might even be enjoyable. A little ketchup and pickle goes a long way. If this is all you've ever had, it's great! But if you've had an Excellent Burger, you know that even a good burger pales in comparison. Other games in the genre fall between "pretty good" and "bad". If you haven't played Roboquest, you might really enjoy these games! But after Roboquest, you will know something is missing. You will yearn for Roboquest. You might still have fun, but you'll know that you can do better.
Roboquest is the platinum standard. Pretty much every other iteration on the roguelite FPS formula I've played has fallen short in some way; typically, they end up feeling slow and plodding, unwilling to let the player engage in any actual Action. When I'm playing one of these other games, frequently the train of thought I'm experiencing is this: "I could be playing Roboquest. Why am I not playing Roboquest? Why has the dev team for this game clearly not played Roboquest? Anybody who plays [this other game] after playing Roboquest will know that something is wrong."
Roboquest gets my heart pumping every time I play it; the music, the visual design, the weapon variety - but most importantly, the speed and action. Roboquest takes some of the best parts of games like DOOM Eternal and Dead Cells and polishes them to a mirror finish. Once you know the systems, you can sail through levels; even early on, before you unlock some of the movement options and other gadgets, Roboquest is a joy to control. Sometimes at easier difficulties I like to just grind on the rails in levels for a few minutes.
Any complaints I could make here would be, frankly, petty. I think the only real complaint I can make is that some of the weapons are not my favorite - and "some" is like, less than five weapons out of 83. Any other complaints I have really boil down to that I wish there was more Roboquest to enjoy. More classes, more weapons, more enemies, more bosses, more levels.
This is a Good Video Game. Purchase this video game. Purchase it for your friends. Have a good time playing video games, with Roboquest. Give Roboquest a kiss.
Developed by RyseUp Studios and published by Starbreeze Studios, RoboQuest is the next best roguelite game with the most polished shooting and balanced weapons in this specific genre. With the latest updates, there is an excellent amount of content (it might seem small, but the randomized nature and the slow build in difficulty grants new things to play with). It's worth full price. If you don't want to pay full price, then buy it at discount. Who cares? If you don't buy this game it doesn't affect me. You goin be sad lmao.
Quite fun and frantic rogue-light shooter. I like it.
Short game.
10/10 Soundtracks
10/10 movement
10/10 gunplay
Only thing I didn't like about this game, is that for a rogue-lite styled upgrade system. The upgrades were pretty weak, but that's just preference.
absolutely the peak of all roguelike shooters. music goes stupid hard, guns feel excellent, there's lots of fun builds and the progression of power is tremendous. these devs know what's fun, and assembled a varied sandbox with many inspirations taken from other games *without* feeling derivative. it's really impressive.
I had a blast playing this in coop.
This game is made in one of the best way to make a roguelike. Instead of pure randomness, upgrades complement your previous choices so things always synergize. It makes it easier and super satisfying to build the way you want or experiment with new things without the randomness getting in the way.
The gunplay and movement feel great. The weapon and class variety are there. There are a lot of fun side-objectives / secrets to find, which helps replayability even more.
And finally, the soundtrack blasts!
BEST FPS roguelite of all time
10/10 music, movement, gunplay, sound design, build variety, gun variety, character variety, perks, difficulty
10/10 game
Great roguelike fps! Has smooth movement, fun and unique weapons, and great progression, highly recommend it if you like games like Gunfire Reborn.
Great game with very nice art. Get it if you like fast pace action with rogue lite elements
Very fun gameplay with lots of replay value.
Love this game, honestly this might be the best game at teaching you FPS mechanics and aim practice I've played. I honestly felt better at mouse aiming after having played this game for a few dozen hours and I'm not sure if it was aimbotting for me or if I was actually getting better.
Borderlands/comic book style works very well. The music is also great. Plot and characters are meh, but that's fine for a game like this. The rogue-lite elements work nearly perfectly and allow you to try out different builds, which adds a lot of replayability and fun to a game that you can do a full run in 30-40 minutes every time you pick it up.
Only criticisms are a lot of the upgrades are side-grades, which aren't as useful as they could be. The in between level screen could use an overlay of the World map to remind you what levels you may be able to leave to from this one. Lastly please make the datalogs a little easier to find or not needing a melee item (shovel) in order to get them would be wonderful.

Really fun, solid gunplay, progression can be a little slow but I played on hard mode.
This game is really freaking fun. One of the most just fun games I've played in awhile.
Really good gunplay, fun and fast movement, a satisfying game-loop with surprisingly varied builds and systems; definitely recommend this one. Haven't even got to try co-op yet - bet that's hella fun.
I'm playing it on the Deck; lock the FPS to 45 and you can play on High settings with smooth and consistent results.
Extremly fun gameplay and a lot of secrets to discover. The robots are also kinda hot. 10/10
Not into Rogue-lites but this one is pretty fun. Good weapon choices. Classes are fun. Fast Gameplay. Reminders me of a toned down Doom Eternal. Worth checking out.
Simple game with really good gameplay, especially after unlocking some gadgets that will allow moving around battle area really fast.
Even with me valuing gameplay the most, art style is what makes this review positive. Art style hides most rendering flaws rather well unlike realistic looking games. The main issue with this game is how locked down it is in terms of fixing what develeopers do not care about. Tweaking ini files does not work and why is this important?!
If we start with basics, fps limiter should be a slider or should allow us to type a number, so if 161 is where tearing stops on a 165Hz monitor, I want to use 161 cap, not 165. It is not like 165 exists as an option and that is exacly my point. If I need to use external tool to lock fps anyway, what is the point of having it in game options, especially if other important stuff is missing?!
If I want to disable depth of field, I need to use post processing on low (engine default configuration) and disable all other stuff with it because again, developers do not care about it. This is the same reason why TAA always completely destroys games image quality of games, They give us presets without actually configuring anything (takes like 5-10 minutes to find values for TAA with console in UE) instead of giving us control over it. Afterall, it is not like devs are gonna play their game and suffer with or without it (because rendering in modern games does not really work without TAA),
Great game. Great movement and skills. Great music and nice story. Highly recommend, really worth its money.
No pointless grinding to finish the game.
Fast paced ADHD sim game, criminally underrated soundtrack it is crazy how good it is combined with the underlying gameplay, tested the demo out and heard the main menu music and bought the game before playing it
great game but it is hard to unlock new content (the endless mode) may want to bring wrench cost
lot of fun please update :)
