so far im really having fun. this game is very similar to gunfire reborn which is a game that is also really fun.
They havent fixed an issue where you cant join a multiplayer session since the beginning of the game.
This game slaps, if you like Boomer shooters, Risk of Rain 2, and video games, you should play this!
This game has a great progression system, the game can be hard or easy, the game has smooth and fun movement, and lastly this game has some great music.
This game sat on my wishlist for like a year, and I have never made such a mistake
Holy shit this is peak 10/10
Even alone, it's a very fun shooter with cool weapons and enjoyable shooting.
Top tier game, highly recommend
Loved every minute of my time with this FPS so far.
It's very hard to find a fault with this game. I'm a huge fan of the art style / graphics and the gun-play is very enjoyable. The choice of heroes and weapons are varied and allow each run to feel different.
The added perks and weapon customisations also add variety along with some very smooth movement and snappy gunfire.
My only negative is the game feels too short. I really hope they expand this with more DLC.
Also, if the developers ever read this.. please make a new game with these graphics and game-play. Perhaps an MMO lite. I would play the hell out of such a game if you ever made one.
Pretty good gunplay and engaging progression, but I've run out of content pretty quick. All that is left for me to do is autistically knock out every entry in the museum and find a cookie cutter build to tackle the hardest difficulty. If it's something you are willing to do, the game will last you a few dozen hours longer. Still great value for the price.
This game is hard. I like to think I'm pretty decent at the FPS/Movement Shooter/Boomer Shooter genres, but I've yet to be able to complete a run on standard difficulty. That being said, this is a really fun and addictive game. The shooting feels great, movement feels tight, art style is fun and matches the vibe the devs are going for. Again, the game is fairly difficult, but I keep coming back for whatever reason.
Super fun love it Snappy controls definitely scratches the doom eternal itch and I really love the new endless mode so many new possibilities i just wished they kept letting you get perks for levels instead of boosters.
Gunfire Reborn is the best FPS game on my list; you can see that I have played it for more than 2,000 hours at the current time. So, when I heard about and saw the gameplay of Roboquest, I had a strong feeling that this game would destabilize the list. Sadly, it cannot, at present.
Compared to Gunfire Reborn, Roboquest clearly lacks variabilities. Many perks in this game are more likely to make you more powerful without any conditions, only a few perk requires performing some actions. This becomes boring very fast because it does not affect your play style. Plus, the animations of enemies are bland, mostly just simply shooting you (the rest will just lunge at you), making it more boring to fight with.
However, this does not mean that Roboquest is a bad game. Although it lacks variability, its gameplay has already won Gunfire Reborn in many aspects; especially when it comes to gameplay, I can confidently say that this game is way faster, funnier, and more challenging. So, it's now second on my list, and I believe that it can beat Gunfire Reborn one day. It really has strong potential. This is another game that is worth even with a full price.
Fun mechanics, fun music, fun guns. Its a fun ol' time.
I keep coming back to this game every now and again. Good clean FPS style fighting with rogue RPG mechanics.
I die more than I win, but what's a game without a challenge?
on a robot quest to do my robot best
no but seriosly, best shooter i have played in ahwile.
Fantastic rogue-like. Great movement mechanics, very good gun balance and well designed maps. Super fun!
did not see myself enjoying this as much as i thought i would. tons of mid-run progression sprinkled with some permanent progression in between runs. no idea how it is in co-op. very fun "always on the move" arenas, pace reminds me of DOOM 2016 just bordering on becoming serious sam!! argh so close!!! way more engaging in the later levels, this game has difficulty spikes out of nowhere but in a good way. enemies all have pinpoint weak spots so it ends up feeling like a turbo-mode deep rock galactic. enemies KIND OF blend together but they do all play their part. though the story is kinda intimidating and foreboding, this is a real "feel-good" FPS. just hop in, blast some bots, get out.
TL;DR neat and cool!! fun fun!! wheeee!!!! bright colors yaaaayyy!!
By far the best mechanics of any rogue-x shooter I've played. Intentional and challenging boss-fights that make you lock-in and reward you with proper satisfaction upon completion. The crispy critical-hit dink noise has a permanent direct-dial line to my dopamine receptors. My dog looks at me funny when I try to imitate the crouch-slide-jump movement on my way to the kitchen for snack refills before the next biome. He doesn't understand he's really dumb, also he's a dog can't play Roboquest. Feel sorry for him.
Very Epic would recommend to if you have a friend who likes Shooter Rogue likes that involve robots and explosions and guns and different builds and classes an endless mode and sidequests and amazing soundtrack, emotional story and robots. Shoutout to Edwin_Fire my best Brobot
Solid game, easy to jump into, cute simple story, very fun and excellently designed, with a surprising amount of secrets. With the some of the best feeling guns is any game I've played. It's like a really good indie Doom Eternal Rouge-Like.
The ONLY issue I have, and this is very niche thought, the enemies and Bosses don't have a personality. So like, in Halo CE when you kill the Elite, the Grunts will get scared and start running. In F.E.A.R. the enemies chatter to each other. And I swear in other old-school shooters, enemies were placed to look like they were interacting with the environment (Looking at a piece of scenery, playing with a computer, teasing/bullying friendly NPC's, going to the bathroom), I can't name them, but I know I've seen them.
The reason this is an issue for me is because everything else is filled with personality!!! But enemies and Bosses serve only a mechanical purpose. They only shoot and move. You never get "THAT MOMENT", when you kill the biggest robots and watch the smaller ones run away, after you're high enough level. You never hear enemies spout Bleeps-and-Bloops to each other about you. And they never interact with each other or the environment. No punchy guys petting the big robot worm, or small guys jumping and swimming in those little streams. No sword guys dueling each other, without hurting each other to prepare for you. No one going near the hidden turrets and then the turret jumps out from hiding, sees it's his buddy and then yells at them before hiding again.
There's just nothing hidden away for the majority of players to not see. You never get to see the enemies before they see you and just watch them be silly little robot dudes. I think that would really elevate this game from excellent, to all time classic. It would also help with the burnout from multiple runs after you've completed almost everything, like me XD
Played it through co-op with a friend. Great combat flow with a good variety of characters, weapons and builds. Some really cool immersive world building and secret finding that naturally flows as you play. Thoroughly enjoyed my time with this, 5 Stars 10/10 S+ game.
Fantastic FPS rogue-like game. Tons of replayability, secrets, unlockables, and more. Soundtrack is great and takes a ton of inspiration from Mick Gordon. Coop is awesome but I wish there was room for up to four players.
A mash-up of Borderlands (art style and gun mechanics) and Doom (fast-paced "stand still and die" gameplay where you pick up green healing orbs off dead enemies). This blend is then put in a rogue-like package to create the amazing game that is Roboquest. Dozens of different weapons, several different classes (each with a couple dozen different skills allowing for varying builds), and a bunch of different difficulties to play on will give you more than enough to play around with.
But all of that is secondary to the combat. Combat in this game feels SO GOOD. Whether you want a punchy and powerful style, a quick and zippy style, a precise and lethal style, or a heavy weapons guy style, you will find a class and set of guns that'll fit your wants. But regardless of how you play, combat is very satisfying. Going from struggling to clear an area to eventually tearing your way through rooms of enemies without breaking a sweat is awesome.
Roboquest is gem of a game.
Roboquest is a lightning fast, mechanically sound, feast for the eyes and ears. Noisecream's OST rockets the player from level to level, fight to fight. Expertly designed arenas, enemy groups, and boss encounters means that it's always up to the individual to read the field and make smart decisions accordingly; not one death did I feel wasn't due to my own choices as a player.
A staggering amount of weapon variety guarantees that everyone can find something they click with, and they'll be met with an intuitive yet deep build customization system. Meta progression is steady, meaning you'll always be unlocking something during a run, or just after returning to the base camp.
With gun play, perk synergies, and level and enemy variety of this caliber, Roboquest stands as one of the best roguelites the genre has to offer. Fans of fast paced shooters and roguelites alike should consider this a must play.
Never really played a Rougelite before but this was very easy to grasp the concept of, plus the combat is really fast and tight, it's really really fun to play!
Good game, would love to see some more weapons and enemy types in the future. Also a potentially cool idea would be to add more Elite Enemies, like the Elites from Risk of Rain 2, with every enemy, aside from the ones on the moon, being able to have an Elite Aspect with them.
Very fun FPS, thoroughly enjoyed finding all the Secrets & Paths (still have to help Bot Ross & Unlock Endless).
The different bots all play relatively different from each other, and "Elemental Weaponry" just tickles my brain right, I love bonus elemental damage as a "thing" in games.
Hope the fact that this game throats your CPU like no tomorrow gets fixed eventually though.
read everywhere that this is the game you should play if you enjoyed Gunfire reborn.
IMO I don't think they compare.
I personally did not enjoy Roboquest for a multitude of reasons, the gun affixes never felt impactful, guns doesn't shine until after a lot of upgrades in base the need to upgrade so much to able to get far, game advertises that the focus is speed speed speed but then adds stuff that really is a run breaker in the early games if you haven't been upgrading your base etc...
idk, not for me!
Un solide jeu!! Le meilleur roguelike FPS à mon avis, pas trop difficile et une rejouabilité énorme! Si vous hésitez, essayez la démo et vous serez conviancu.
Oh snap, i havnt writ a review for this? Oh man this game is great!
I love the music, the action, the gunplay its all just s ogood.
There is one track that is of tempo and super weird but the rest of the tracks, turn up the bass!
This is a fantastic coop game my friends and i have spent many hours drunk and stoned.
Highly recommend.
This is probably one of the best run and gun roguelite games I've ever come across. I've played many over the years, and this one honestly is at the top for me. With that being said, it's also more difficult than pretty much every other game of the same genre that I have played lol. My buddy and I play this almost exclusively as a co-op game, so we went in expecting a similar difficulty level to other games like Gunfire Reborn; in the end we were served healthy slices of humble pie and had to drop the difficulty down from standard down to easy. Over time, through Early Access and into the full release, we worked our way up to successful hard-mode runs with a decent average time that gave us solid "S" scores.
Then we unlocked endless mode and got served more humble pie, as we've had to drop the difficultly back down to easy again lol. The criticism I have for the game, is in the endless mode. The problem that I see with it mostly comes from the immediate double boss fight, as you simply don't have that kind of damage and survivability to make it through the double barrage of boss attacks. The only successful endless runs on Standard difficulty we have between my buddy and I, is with the bot who spawns a decoy and one single super try-hard double Guardian run. Everyone else, even the Guardian, just gets absolutely shredded by the sheer amount and aggression level of the enemies. The decoy guy, on the other had, just drops a long-lasting invincible decoy with an up-time that seems to last almost as long as the cooldown. I legitimately watched him drop a decoy, walk to the other side of the boss room, and just attacked both bosses that stood on op of the decoy shooting it for the entire duration. When the decoy despawned, he did the exact same thing and killed the bosses after a few decoys. Contrasted to literally any other class in those boss fights, it's kind of a joke. It's just extremely disappointing to go from one-tapping half a room in one shot, to doing pathetic damage in the boss fight and just dying because you simply can't evade all the attacks without some form of invulnerability or distraction. From what I've seen and played, the other classes like Elementalist and Commando just can't survive a double boss, at least not at the very start with only around two items and three upgrades.
I enjoy the game and the music from Noisecream is amazing, but endless mode is very unbalanced and heavily favours one class in particular IMHO. I've no idea how to fix it, maybe nerf the decoy by giving it a health bar or improve powercell/item drops to help the other classes stand a chance, I honestly don't know. But I do hope it gets improved over time. Also, I wish endless mode would let us stack more than just 5 upgrade paths. It honestly feels like a regular run sometimes has more power than an endless run due to the fact that a regular run gets you like, four times the amount of items. You get more items, more powercells, and the enemy scaling makes sense with the amount of stuff you're getting, while endless mode gives you almost no powercells, almost no items, and scaled the enemies at a crazy pace. With that being said, I've also noticed that single player runs in endless mode seems to be much easier than co-op.
TLDR; really good game, really good music, *co-op endless mode is imbalanced. Regular runs are a 9/10 experience, Endless mode runs are a 7/10 experience.
An easy-to-pickup roguelite shooter with tight controls and a nice graphical style. If you like fast and tight action/shooter games (e.g. Hades, Enter the Gungeon, DOOM/Eternal) then this one's for you.
Apart from the introduction cinematic, the game almost never takes control away from the player (a pet peeve of mine) and you're able to almost instantly start and pow pow pow your way through a new run.
Amazing game, weapons feel unique and gun-play is great. Its very fast paced and there's a lot of content so it doesn't feel repetitive. Amazingly fun with co-op and difficulty is right on point. Deserves to be bought at full price and you will not regret it.
Exceptional Roguelite FPS. If Borderlands actually had a good movement system and end-game.
A fast-paced FPS rogue-lite with great guns, movement, and satisfying buildcrafting. It reminds me of Destiny quite a bit, without all the boring stuff.
This is an absolute beast of a game. Fast paced, snappy controls and great soundtracks. You can really feel the passion that went into this game.
"Slop content" kind of game, where you try to get some value out of it by trying different classes and perks, but the gameplay process itself isn't very good. Stimulating visually, but in terms of what you do - it's dull, superficial and fake. This is for 2 big reasons described below - it's boring to aim/shoot, and it's boring to move. It's better to instead find some old shooter game where it feels like things aren't just pretending, and actually want to "get" you. Related clips are at the bottom of the review. Had this game since 2021.
Upsides: Physically running around and shooting precise guns feels responsive, punchy and crisp. The graphics, the sound and aesthetics are top tier. It feels good to go in looking for 10-15 minutes of meaningless content, shooting easy targets to get my wrists warmed up, or get used to a new mouse or sensitivity.
Downsides.
1) Aiming and shooting most things isnt fun past 5-10 minutes at a time, because the majority of what you'll be shooting at is just standing still (or suspended into the air) with a big crit spot in the middle of their hitbox. And maybe once every few seconds they leisurely walk or hover to the side for a couple of meters(some exceptions - stationary turrets that never move, or little flying drones with 10hp that constantly move). None of the difficulty levels cardinally change how much things move.
And it's even obvious that they couldn't figure out how to make a decent AI that isn't completely scripted, so the supposedly most dangerous enemy - Elites, each feel like a stationary flying turret that keeps teleporting around over and over, until they find line of sight, or start using all of their abilities 1 by 1. Same thing happens each time they see you.
2) Fighting stuff doesn't feel interactive, because the game rewards you for running in very long straight lines, instead of paying attention, and changing your dodging direction or method at the right time.
Any hardest cramped room in the game that you get locked into (last level included), can be defeated without losing almost any health, by just running in a big circle in a clockwise motion around the room, never changing direction, and occasionally sprinting.
This is because outside of a few rare enemies in each level, who try to predict your movement (and those happen to be designed to be super annoying with stuns or DoT), all of the others just lob a slow projectile at your current position.
So all the projectiles will always land behind you, as long as you simply walk somewhere in a straight line (but not directly at an enemy), dont stand still, and don't purposefully run backwards into them. Whether it's just a small projectile flying at you, or a fat ball one, or a "shotgun" spread, or a rocket that goes up and then at you in a curve, or a mortar, or a grenade, or a laser, or a beam.
This way, it feels like AI is only pretending to try to hurt you.
You can of course try doing some left-and-right strafes just for fun (and practice), but you will be SEVERELY punished and overwhelmed for it, so you HAVE to just hold 1 single direction and go there. Or you will know that you're making it way too hard for yourself for no reason, and it's why someone else might think this game is too hard.
3) There are different level routes that can be selected, but in each individual level there's very little variety from run to run, despite this being a roguelite, because everything is tuned for speedrunning. The number of EXP, the number of elites and goliaths in a level, the number of rooms, special rooms, locked rooms and safe rooms is always the same, certain rooms always use the same layout at the beginning and ending of each section. This means you'll be doing the same thing each time, except for trying a different class/weapon.

Highest difficulty. Notice the 1-dimensionality of my movement, and of enemy movement. If doing this over and over is enough for you, then this is your game:
https://youtu.be/klr9QDQbwyY
This one actually feels exciting, because unlike the rest of the game, the last level doubles the amount of "dangerous" stuff that can be in the same room, as well as the amount of spastic elites that teleport into your face. But it can still be cheesed by running in a circle:
https://youtu.be/NwIvU2UEoHQ
Last clip, has some charger enemies in it, that make it feel a bit more interesting, but the same 1 dimensional movement applies:
https://youtu.be/f5JxHQFl5GI
Only play this is you like being a 360 no scope perfectionist.
10/10, maybe the best roguelike FPS out there. This game was tailor made for me.
Pros:
-Music hits hard and flows well with combat
-Gunplay and movement are really smooth
-Buildcrafting is plentyful and blends well with weapons
-Class system offers different playstyles
-Great art direction, that also helps in gameplay
-Looter shooter aspect provides diverse weapon builds
-2 player Co-op
-Good pacing of arenas
-Endless mode, a recent mode that tests your endurance
Cons: (hard to find some)
-Boss combos in endless mode can feel punishing if you haven't gotten the right gear.
-Game can lag and drop when using specific powers or elements (I guess with all the particles effects or something?)
-Lack of ambient noises outside the center of the hub (but that's just a minuscule complaint)
If you're into the DOOM and Borderlands games, but want more from them, Roboquest is for you.
(Also free Demo to try)
The movement and the shooting feels very unique and awesome. It's not just copy pasting a pre-existing popular movement shooter, although it does borrow cool ideas from several. The progression systems are great. It's very easy to make satisfying and coherent builds. There are many viable builds, and each build encourages you to approach combat totally differently.
Some of the bossfights might be a tad too easy even when you're starting out. Hades does this better, where you can make the early bosses way harder for some extra rewards. (Heat system)
Somewhat suffers from early-game-repetitiveness symptom of being a roguelike, but it's mitigated by the weapon variety with 115 weapons. You can also choose a different character each time. But I still won't pretend that it doesn't get a bit lame to have to tear your way through the same orange desert level one more time... Some weapons also don't quite feel very satisfying to me, particularly the 5 or so melee weapons.

Don't be fooled by Roboquest's cel-shaded graphics and cheerful atmosphere - this is a deep and challenging game. The weaponry is satisfying and the movement excellent. Strategic character levelling (and a little luck) allows the creation of a real wrecking machine, which you'll need if you want to win. A gentle learning curve, multiple routes, unlockable classes, secret codes and perks greatly extend Roboquest's lifespan.
Co-op is implemented seamlessly and a really excellent time. Ryseup, a young studio, have excelled – after the Payday 3 debacle Starbreeze should pay attention to what an original and entertaining co-op shooter looks like. At this price it's a steal, grab a brobot and get stuck into an overlooked gem.
Clean artsyle and gunplay with fun classes to choose from and a solid multiplayer experience.
A very polished fps game that does not require a high end graphics card.. A fast gameplay coupled with a roguelike property requires one to have a super aim. The bosses are spammy and the endless mode will enable one to see all the maps of the game in less than twenty minutes. I predict that the double bosses will be nerfed in the near future. Perks give the game an extra layer of complexity. I wish the defensive part of the game is elaborated too. The comic like weapon effects are nice to see. Overall this game deserves five stars for design and overall polish.
I've never played a game quite like it, sort of Borderlands meets Portal 2? I really like it though, sometimes you stumble into crazy overpowered builds.
Gameplay is addicting and the artstyle reminds me of Borderlands but without the annoying characters.
its like the binding of isaac without any of the christian propaganda, edginess, faeces or story depth that made the binding of isaac such a deep an d enthralling rougelike.
however, it has funny robots so it has redeemed itself.
8/10
Recon is basically Genji.
Game is good. Good movement, good shooting, fast af.
I like that it takes the best from Borderlands and roguelites to blend it together into a super fun run and shoot fps :) and the music blows, it's amazing!
I mean this is more of a "mixed" review than a positive because I can't bring myself to give it a negative review with the amount of work that went into this game plus I still kind of enjoy it, but the devs were very directionless with this game especially during early access and couldn't decide where to take the game design. One patch I enjoyed it very much only to not like it all that much the next and so on so on. I think overall I find the game and its classes and weapons kind of samey and repetitive and much prefer Gunfire Reborn's take on the genre.
I'm coming back to this game after playing back in EA in 2021 or so. Its rough. Maybe I've outgrown movement shooters, but I think there is still some critique here. Enemies will constantly hit you off screen, most of my runs die without evening seeing what killed me. This isn't bad in games like Doom where most enemies are melee so you can either A) barely look to your side and take care of the issue, or B) just move out of range. The problem here is that every enemy fires some type of bullet. So even if I can see the enemy, its nigh impossible to dodge due to the quick firerate of enemies. Speaking of which, the turrets fire faster than you can move. Dodge one bullet and you already have another heading towards you with no time to clear it. If I'm dying in Level 1, its due to those turrets. Level 3 features turrets hidden in the ground that only spring up when you're close by. Not a horrible idea, but this is a movement shooter, I'm not waiting around to scout the area and take out these turrets because I've got maybe 7+ other enemies to also deal with and dodge. Next we can talk scratch damage: this is an awful idea. Its akin to Dark Souls 2 punishing you for doing bad, but at least there I can bide my time and methodically plan out courses of actions to avoid dying. Here, whenever you take damage you lose some of your max health. To regain it, you either heal at a repair bot or collect green orbs at max health. Problem is you'll rarely be at max health due to the turrets and hordes of enemies present. Builds are whatever. Nothing super diverse, just basic stat increase with maybe a choice to change your secondary ability. Nothing really allows you to change playstyles in all honesty, if you play a class once, that's really all that class has to offer. No amount of level ups, gun changes, or items will really change HOW you play. Its always the same. Compared to something like Risk of Rain 2, where the items are basic stat increases, but some contribute to how you actually play. All-in-all loved this game in EA, but the full release has degraded most aspects that I found fun.
The best executed FPS shooter roguelite I've played.
- The controls and aiming are tight
- Despite low randomness in maps, it manages to stay fun after multiple runs
- Pretty challenging even for FPS veterans
- Fun bosses
- Some interesting secrets that are not too difficult to find without guides
The only constructive feedback I can give is that runs take a little bit too long (>30 minutes), and depending on your loadout, it can become a marathon in Chapters 2 & 3.
It plays like an arcade focused borderlands. Doesn't really have much of a story, it just serves the setting and the level progression. Pretty much flawless execution for such a small game. I don't have much else to say about it other than that I like this much better than Risk of Rain 2 for example.
At the end of the game you can unlock endless mode, which is exactly what is sounds like only ever harder and with some special adjustments such as double-teaming bosses etc.
Only thing missing is modding maybe.
