Can't play online
I cannot seem to get anywhere with it, all it allow me to do is play an exhibition match against Rafa Nadal, it would not let me out of the game. I had to switch the PC off and restart it, it should let you play in the Tennis school so you learn how to play, very disappointed
Game is broken, it crashes a lot in the game. Bad controls. There is no way you can run after receiving the ball in the edge of the court. Sprint is useless! Sometimes button will not activate!
Gameplay-wise, it's hard to find a less enjoyable tennis game. It doesn't matter that it looks really nice when playing it feels so unnatural and is so far from an accurate tennis simulator.
If you're an actual tennis player and aware of the micro-timings, movements-leading-to-point construction involved in the sport, this one's a pretty good sim. I've even created an almost true-to life Novak player and playstyle in Career Mode; the coaching and unlockable skills/attributes system can further fine-tune to your taste. I understand that the controls might seem too un-arcade-y and requires extreme precision, i think it's a welcome challenge because at the hardest mode, this game really needs actual tennis IQ in order to beat the AI. Point construction is heavily emphasized due to stamina conservation as opposed to the Virtua/Top-spin series style which just mostly relies on heavy hitting and unerratic/unrealistic placing, often leading to quicker points and unsatisfying rallies.
There are a few things that could be done to make the game better like challenges but and getting to the ball quicker but other than that its good.
This game runs in slow motion when you are playing a tournament. I have a gaming laptop with a NVIDIA RTX 3070 GPU and I was struggling for hours trying to find the problem thinking that maybe it was the game settings, I tried with the lowest resolution possible, then I tried to continue playing thinking that the slow mode was to give you a chance to learn the game and then it was going to normalize once your game level was improving, but it was not, no way, it's a bug in the game. The most disappointing part is that I requested refund to Steam and they told me that according to their policies it was not possible to refund my money because I had "played" more than 2 hours. It's really sad to lose your money for something that DOESN'T WORK and Steam doesn't give you support by giving you your money back for something that clearly is not your fault.
I have the very last released Rolland Garros Complete Edition. All i can say about this game is that its really good and that it definetly has a lot of potential to be BIG, if Breakpoint decides to updated it, wich dosent seem like they will. The gameplay mehanics is really good with all thoes skill cards system in combination of stamina , rackets, and playstyle. The grafic is great, the rooster of players available in game is exellent, more then 30 available, incl thoes 3 new players added as DLC recently and for free (Garcia, Shapovalov in De Minaour), wich is a nice move from BigBen. Im playing Career mode for some time now and i barelly see much bugs (exception for slice button wich produces sometimes regular flat shot). If they added more representation animations for winning and loosing matches/tournaments, with some minor updates of the gameplay and BIG updates for ONLINE play, i would definetly play this online a lot more then i do for now. I only wish they would do one more bigger update.
Is it good? It's like the best thing available I personnally prefer the controls above those of AO2. Other games feel dated and lack players from the ATP or WTA tour.
Online multiplayer on PC is insanely laggy in my case. So it's mostly couch multiplayer. Would love the addition of doubles to the game now that it's back in the attention. Buy when on sale
I feel that I need to write a review about this game after having purchased it a few days ago because many of the comments and even online reviews date back to 2018 when the game probably still have many rough edges before patches. And because of the many negative comments about this game, I needed to think long and hard before purchasing the Roland Garros Edition and to see how bad the game really is. To my pleasant surprise, it's the best and most realistic tennis game that I have ever played. Before this, I was playing AO Tennis and was seriously getting bored with it because, after a while, it feels like an arcade style game like Virtua Tennis. In AO Tennis, you only have three basic shots: slice, flat and top spin that you mostly use. And the AI is ridiculous and will return your every shot even when you are playing on semi-pro. Tennis World Tour Roland Garros edition plays like the real game. You can adopt an endless variety of shots and it is a joy to make a top spin back hand passing shot. Or you can trick your opponent with a drop shot or send a first serve wide to prepare for a killer shot. All these nuances are lacking in AO Tennis. The players movements and style of play are like their real life counterparts. In the Roland Garros edition, you also get Agassi and McEnroe. The drawback of Tennis World Tour is that there is no doubles and you don't have community support to download players and stadiums. But there are more than enough players and stadiums in this game. What is most important is the game play and Tennis World Tour Roland Garros edition serves an ace in this department.
Worst game ever. Opponent's stamina will never deplete but yours do dramatically. Theirs increase significantly the next point and yours will not. Controls are like crap, so is the movement of the players. Unresponsive and awkward movement. Even 2005 Virtua Tennis is better than this. Increase in stats doesn't even reflect. Improve and patch this crappy game!!! I wish i could get a refund. I would safely say this is the worse game i've bought in my life.
On the date of 2019/09/14, with all the patches since release, i really love this game.
Miss the possibility for mods and some ingame cinematics, but overall 9/10!
Absolute filth. A rip-off and an incomplete game even 1 year after initial release. And apart from that, they want to charge more money for the recent roland garros update. These developers have seriously shady ethical standards and should be disallowed from selling their beta test video games.
I haven't written a review before, simply because I never saw the point of writing one. However, I will make an exception now.
I have kept silent about this game, I tried it after every patch, hoping it will get better. And it did, albeit barely. When I heard about the Roland-Garros expansion, I was looking forward to it. However, after putting hours into this game, experiencing a variety of bugs, such as not being able to change my character's First Name in the creation menu, to players returning balls that they were nowhere near, or my all-time "favorite" bug, when you hit strike key only for that player to not react, I decided that enough is enough. This Roland-Garros expansion is the final straw. Instead of offering it to the players for their support and as a thank you, they decided to slap a price tag on it and make more money. Greed knows no end, just like the publisher Bigben Interactive knows no shame. On top of everything, PS4 players got Nadal free, while users on PC need to pay 7 euros for a reskin that looks like him, but is devoid of the grunts or actual strike motions of the real deal.
After this expansion, I would recommend to stay away from this game, don't touch it even with a 10 feet pole, unless you want to encourage shady practices, scumbag publishers, and greedy CEO's who know nothing more than to charge you for anything they can while they throw the developers under the bus.
I want to thank Breakpoint for making a tennis game on PC, I was so eager for it I was anxiously counting the days until it release. Even if the player not hitting the ball bug is still present sometimes, the game is much better than when I bought it, almost a year ago.
And to Bigben Interactive, the countless disappointment, anger and frustration that you have given me has made me not only pirate absolutely any game that you make, even if I don't play it, it'd just own it, to spite you, but also it's my absolute pleasure to wish you a rocky road to hell, and if your company ever ceases to exist, then the world will be a better place. I hope whoever was responsible for taking advantage of both the consumers and rushing the developers gets to suffer at least the mild displeasure of always having to serve their meal cold, be late for meetings everytime and a constant smell of rotten fish follows them permanently.
Sincerely,
A former fan and supporter of this game
I enjoy playing the game, closer to the Top Spin 4, but wish it equaled or even surpass if possible. One major request is to finetune the sliding animation in clay court. Its almost not present., and theres no skid marks on clay. I also dont like the formation or the legs of the female players. They look not feminine, please review their formation comparing to top spin 4.
I am very sad cause the game has only a few WTA female tennis players except the famous one like Venus Williams, Serena Williams, and Maria Sharapova. Please put them into the game; I am sure there are many fans of them will purchase your DLC.
I have waited a good while to write a review for this game, but now I feel is the right time to share some of the insight I have gathered since day one.
Yes, I did buy this game on release day and it was absolutely horrific on the technical side.
It was quite obvious that almost everything about it was unfinished, unpolished and miles away from being ready for release.
Especially as a full price game.
Even features that were advertised had not been integrated at all, even months after release.
Additionally the devs did not say a word on whether they are about to improve things for what feels like an eternity.
So obviously negative reviews reeled in on after another, and deservedly so.
So why am I leaving a positive review then?
That's a legit question, and I'm not entirely sure if it's justified or not.
Had I written this review a month ago, I would have definitely succumbed to rage an swear words to bash this game and the devs from the bottom of my heart as much as I could, for taking my money and offering nothing remotely justified in return.
At this point though, although barely, it probably is, because things have improved.
I bought this game with the intent of refunding it in time, after having seen for myself what all the negativity is all about.
Yet something prevented me from doing so. While playing a few matches, improving ever so slightly, I felt something that I haven't felt for what seems like an eternity: Glimpses of the Top Spin series were shining through all the bugs and glitches, the weight of hitting the ball, the precision that is possible, the risk and reward mechanism, and I felt the potential this game could have had when the devs did their job properly weeks after.
Well, they didn't do their job in the weeks after. No patches, no communication, nothing.
I was severly disappointed and it felt like betting on the wrong horse, since AO Tennis recieved update after update, constantly improving. Make no mistake though, I refunded AO Tennis 3 times already, because despite being better at everything else compared to TWT, the gameplay itself is and was significantly worse.
Months have passed and then, finally, after almost 5 months, the long awaited patch came. Online modes have been added, and lots of things have improved compared to before, especially in the single player department. Yet, of course, new problems arose, and as of now online is hit and miss, literally. Since there are no dedicated online servers, everything stands and falls with what the peer to peer gods decide for you. More often than not everything works fine, with small glitches here and there, but those other times when the gods do not favor you...
...are a lag hell which has not been seen since the ancient dawn of the internet.
Then another patch came along, and things improved further. And so, slowly this game is being molded into form.
The word slowly needs to be explicitly stressed. It has been half a year to get to this point, and it will take another for this game to be in a remotely finished state.
The character creation is still limited to a laughably low amount of options, the AI apart from Legendary difficulty is still to easy, even for new players, not all bugs are gone (but a whole lot has been fixed), doubles are still missing, online modes are in need of dedicated servers, and... you get my point.
But it is fun?
Yes!
I have played every single relevant Tennis game over the past 2 decades and even sticked to Virtua Tennis 4 for almost 8 years due to a shortage of alternatives, until this game came along. The rallies are varied, the possibilities in shotmaking are vast, the feeling of getting better after having suffered a crushing defeat, improving from game to game, everything is there. Even Serve and Volley works, which has been the bane of most Tennis games throughout the decades.
So even after all the negativity and disappointment, I am leaving a positive review, because I am playing this a lot and I am having a lot of fun, unless the P2P gods decide otherwise.
Will you have fun as well?
That depends on how forgiving you are, since the price for this game suggests this is a AAA game, which it is clearly not.
Should you be a fan of Tennis and therefore interested in a video game interpretation of the sport that is fun to play and lets you do all the things you would do on a normal court with minimal restrictions, by all means, give this game a shot and decide for yourself. It's not easy to get into, but once you get a feel for the timing, this is the closest thing to the Top Spin series on the market today. And with patience and goodwill towards the developers, this might actually, against all odds, turn out to be a great game down the road.
This game is just not ready for a full release. They had the audacity to charge full AAA price for a -A game. I can't believe even 3 friends of mine reccomend this game. They are only reccomending what they hope will be a better game. It wont. TWT 2 may be good
Unfortunately for all tennis fan out there this game has massive problems.
For starters their developers: It has been mentioned in other reviews, but the fact that they don't care about how they released a 20% done game, charging full price for it (plus a mediocre dlc), advertising online gameplay which isn't even ready in the final game. And to top it all saying they will patch it and maybe the game will be finished next year and they are already planning a new sequel to this game is DISGUSTING.
The game: has massive bugs, players move when they want to, shots aren't even close to what an amateur player will do while blindfolded. very limited character editing, match settings, graphics settings. the worst commentary and public reactions i've ever heard in a game (and i own several EA games).
They supposedly invited a pro player to map his movement and put it in the game which to me it's the biggest scam out there.
We were expecting a good tennis game for a bunch of years now and to finally recieve news that not one but two tennis games were being released in a year was promising, but instead we came across the greed of the developers and publisher who were more focused in getting revenue out of the game not actually caring for the people who would play it. They sent 500.000 copies to game stores and they weren't refundable so basically a major blow to those stores.
The worst part is that i've got my refund i will not buy this game again and based on the reviews on several online magazines people are doing the same. So jokes on you, you assassinated your own reputation by giving possibly the most unfinished game in history. Not only that, stores will not buy the game again because of the fiasco they went through.
I really hope steam will remove this game from the store and raise it's policies of finished games so this will not happen again.
As for the developers i'm really sorry for the way you are handling bussiness, you are becoming an EA like company
PD: sorry for my english, and my rating is 2/5
WAY too many bugs. Hoping to see many updates to come.
The following bugs I noticed happening from time to time:
- Weird ball bounces
- Ball doesn't make contact with the racquet on hits
- Need to refine controls
- Poor performance on high end PC
- Glitchy crouds etc
No multiplayer? Is this a pre-alpha release? Will change my review once fixed.
The game should have better graphics and play smoother for a 2018 game.
Game is far away from finished. Gameplay is very slow. Thought it had to do with my computer, but a lot of people got that issue. Level is play is way to easy, played a game on legend and won 6-0. And believe me, I'm not a good gamer.
Buggy as well, other players lag when running from one side of court to the other side.
And oh, the language, only french? Seriously?
Luckily for me I can speak a little french, but you can't charge 39,99€ for this..
TO bad...
Back to Virtua Tennis 3 I guess
Игры похожие на Tennis World Tour
