The gimmicks are all kinda awful to actually play, the core game itself feels extremely bad to play as well.

By far the BEST version of Tetris on Steam. You can set any rules you like from all different types of Tetris. Good to practice that NES Tetris but also good for modern. Love it! Just needs full controller support yo!

good for casual play and a few quick games with special modes, however i'd rather play any other form of tetris.

it's tetris with some extra game modes and unique sets of pieces, but there's also a few quirks that make tetrux frustrating/confusing to play for someone that's used to other games that mimic official tetris; the sequence/bag of pieces doesn't function the same way it would in normal tetris games, making all-clears far more difficult, and (this might be an unrelatable complaint) the UI has the Hold window just ABOVE the Next column which is extremely disorienting and hard to get used to, i wish i could edit the layout of the UI.

game full of bugs + no updates in 2 years + playerbase nearly inexistant

(i had to use sam to get the only achievement in this game because of the bugs even tho i did the 50 doubles)


go play jstris or tetrio, it's way better (and free)

perfect for talking or chatting with friends while you play something mindless yet it still keeps you hooked, highly recommend

It's Tetris dude, has lots of different modes and customization, it feels like Tetris and it's cheap, if you miss playing Tetris it's worth getting.

The game really need to have full controller support. I don't want to touch my mouse or keyboard while playing the game.

It's Tetris. It's more than Tetris, really. Tetris is too scared to experiment. This has so many cool things Tetris could've done and it costs 1/20th of a modern Tetris game despite having more replayability. I don't get it.

Definitely worth the price.

Very good, solid, version of the old-school classic....Tons of features to modify the game which will keep anyone busy testing. The music is set to some old-school trance which for me at least makes me feel quite nostalgic. If you are a fan or simply a fan of puzzles in general, OR maybe you just haven't played this game in awhile I would highly suggest you try this version.

Very good as it is now, lots of tweaking will make it much better. And the controller support is really good, you can set all buttons sticks and triggers exactly how you want.

If you are a casual Tetris player and you just want to blow some time away on single player or just goof off with your friends this game isn't the worst choice. I have a degree of problems with the game though.

I'll definitely spend more time fiddling with it and hopefully playing with friends. Although if better options come around like an official tetris game that doesn't feature some kind of gimmick go for that instead. If you want a cheap tetris game to have fun with friends this is a good enough game simple as that. If you're looking for something to get into the serious competitive tetris play this game really starts to show it's cracks. I wouldn't recommend anyone use this for a serious competition.

Fun tetris with lots of different game modes to try out.
There is also a lot of customization to the settings as well. This however comes with the slight con of having to figure out what each one means exactly but once you do it is very easy to set the game up how you prefer it.

Would be nice if there was a quick little test through you can do with settings you changed without having to start a game.
Also would be nice if the block your holding had the option to be moved to the top left side of the screen instead of the right side above what is coming next so you dont get confused on which block is next.
A zen game mode would be nice as well where its got more relaxing style of music and backround/block color without having to change it all in settings.

overall though it is a nice way to get your tetris fix, where the cons I found are huge problems just things that would be nice.

Big fan of playing Tetris, who was very disappointed that there was no suitable Tetris game on PC. I was extremely pleased when I found this game, and expected to get my money's worth out of a Tetris clone. What I got far exceded my expectations and I was very happy with all the customization you can do to play the game just how you want to. Great game.

Well, I was retro-gaming on some old Atari computers I recently revived, and one of the games that I liked a lot was Thetris, a post 8-bit era game written in the early 2000's that was one of the better Tetris clones for the Atari. The music was great. Of course, I loved the original Tetris music, too, from the old Arcade game. The make-or-break Tetris games for me always have a great soundtrack that matches the pace of what you're doing rather well. The gameplay needs to be classic.

So when scoping out a PC Tetris for the modern age, I tried out a lot of different ones, and ended up deciding on Tetrux. It has the best options, and the best soundtrack. Too many Tetris clones have only one song, that just keeps playing, and if it's not a good piece of music, it makes the game more boring. Well, Tetrux has lots of good original music -- somewhere in the slower range or Trance music, but perfect for video games like Tetris. The music is well produced.

What Tetrux has that makes it a winner, in my book, is more options to make the game interesting. The options page is full of every variation in Tetris clones that you're used to. You can change everything about the game, from the shapes to color sets, to texture styles -- things you never thought you might want to change. You can add or subtract power-ups, try for achievements, or play online. It really has a great range of options, and I feel that so far, this is the version that really combines the best of the originals, and the best of the modern updates versions.

The only thing on my list that it doesn't have is the classic 8-bit music score, just for nostalgia. But I can wait for that.

This game has been super fun! All the various piece sets and rules are nifty as heck! The powerups and shuffles and stuff are all nice options to make the game fresh and unique and how do I make lines with tetrikings, daniel,

Legit Critique: Some of the menus are wonky as heck, like if you play in a windowed mode too small the Global Chat box covers up the Start button, and windowed mode isn't like, inherently supported in the menu? (I had to alt-enter and manually drag the window smaller.) Making windowed actually built-in to the menu options and fixing the elements overlapping would be nice?

Having some form of handicap system, like making one person's lines count for less garbage than another, would be really nice; my best friend has bad spatial awareness when it comes to tetris-style games, and me being faster just means he gets so much garbage he can't even begin to play. I can go out of my way to slow myself down, but having some form of handicap settings for how much battle-garbage happens?

Or even a per-player ruleset system would be cool as hell! Like if my piece-set was Pentominos, and his was classic, or even just, he could only muck my board and I couldn't muck his, that'd be stellar!

I'm excited to see this game continue growing, and thanks to Simpleflips' video for turning me towards this game. <3

Tetrux brings back childhood memories from playing Tetris on Game Boy.
Since I'm not into console gaming I was looking for anything on PC that comes close to the Original and Tetrux doesn't fail to deliver just that.

It has a lot of customizable options and different game modes. If you are looking for the best Tetris experience on PC / Steam, this will be your perfect fit.

Menu & Interface look very clean and the controls are as simple as they get.

The one thing I'm not too happy with is the very fast pace of interval changing even on 1x or 2x starting speed.

If you set a scoring goal higher than 30000 points it's almost impossible to reach, just because you already are at or above 8x speed only five minutes in.
I would love to have the option to lower that interval speed a bit, without having to rely on "constant 0x" .

Steam achievements would also be a great addition in the future.

If you are into classics and / or puzzle games that don't make your head hurt, pick up this gem.

It blows my mind how Tetrux isn't more popular yet with almost no viable alternatives.

This game is just great - the best tetris incarnation I have ever played BY FAR.
+++ my favourite casual/puzzle game on steam in general (and I saw many of them)
Its simple but with a lot customization options, it has both local and online multiplayer endless rules variations, perfect soundtrack.
To put it short: its a dream come true for any tetris fan and just a wonderful game for anybody else.
I hope this game gets it's well-deserved recognition 'cause I wanna kick some more asses online

Playing this game takes me back many, many years. I always loved playing Tetris and this is a great version of it. It took a little getting used to playing, but once I set the controls to the keys I prefer, it was easy. Love this game.

It's Tetris with more modes!

+ Pros: Probably the best version of Tetris on Steam at the moment, and just because of its simplicity. The customization rocks, local multiplayer is awesome (can't comment on online multiplayer yet b/c no one's on), and it just functions like Tetris. Pretty cool extra modes with new mechanics, pieces, and more importantly, GARBAGE MODE (yay?)!
- Cons: Primitive menus, animations outside of the main game seems out-of-place.

Looking forward to what this game adds in the future.

Edit: I initially thought you couldn't turn off ghost pieces, but there is an option to change the how the ghost piece looks/turn it off. However, there's a strange bug that always gives you ghost piece on your first piece, which is why testing if the setting worked or not was weird.\

Edit2: Thanks to the great communication from the dev, the bugs I found were fixed and more customization was added. Thanks!!
