Great Game! Deserves a third game.

Played for a couple hours (including the Wish content), and I'd say I had a good time overall.

The aesthetics fit the gloomy story the developer wanted to tell, and I feel they succeeded in telling a dark story despite never experiencing said things.

Also, the animations are good, including in Wish. Shocking? Yes. Great? Also yes. The sound effects + OSTs were also good and pushed the dark atmosphere forward more, too, in my mind.

Masterfully crafted game that serves as a sequel for Confess My Love. The game is higher quality than Confess My Love in design. The UI looks better. The game is dark and the story is interesting and captivating. The Dlc is also worth it although You can access the content by gettign 10 achievements. The gameplay is also not as repetitive as Confess My Love. I enjoyed this game very much and hope that some day I can play the developer studio's next game.

At first I thought that this was just a simple continuation of Confess My Love that filled in a little bit of details we missed. However, what I was met with was a whole different beast of a game. Tragedy, despair, hope, and love. Everything individual, but muddled together. Something seemingly simple, yet progresses to become more complex until you are lost with answers to questions you've never had.

Transparent Black is a brilliant game. Something that struck a deep cord with my soul. Words simply can't explain the depth and magnitude the story has. I'm in a state of absolute terror, yet peaceful hope. This is sadly extremely realistic with the world we live in today.

If you are weak minded or don't deal well with trigger warnings, I suggest staying away from this. If you are strong enough to handle that, be prepared for something that is bigger than just a game. It's reality.

These developers never cease to amaze me. Yet another fabulous story-based game that discusses topics of bullying, depression and guilt in an enjoyable and entertaining way. I don't want to say too much as I do not want to spoil the game. You should really check this out!

Transparent Black is a pretty dark little game, it's related to Confess My Love, but plays slightly differently.

I enjoyed this one a little more than Confess My Love. The story somewhat overlaps and makes Transparent Black seem like another side of the same story. Pretty interesting, though I think this game is much darker. There's multiple different endings.

Summary:

- Dark story.
- Multiple endings.
- Black and white artwork style helps to set you in the right mood.
- One of the achievements requires the completion of Confess My Love.
- English translation, again, isn't the best.
- Slightly repetitive.

Overall, if you've played and enjoyed Confess My Love, you will enjoy this game as well. It's different in terms of gameplay, but it's a nice little game.

Transparent Black is a 2D puzzle-solving game that revolves around Liza whom was the victim of bullying within her class. Within the class, she only had one friend who is willing to listen to her. However, due to the classmates constant antagonizing, her actions slowly turned violent. The game isn't very elaborate, but there are a lot of small details that points to the story. It is much better when you play the Wish DLC.

The DLC, while I had been hesitant on the idea of purchasing it, actually brought about more context and even more story-telling. While it had dark undertones at every turn, it was overall a pretty enjoyable game. It was only better that there had been a plot twist at the end of the DLC.

It is also worth noting that this game has a prequel by the name of "Confess my Love". There had been very minor mentions here and there in Transparent Black that points to the events in Confess my Love.

Game - 8/10
DLC - 10/10
Story-telling - 9/10

Eh, the games cute. I had more fun in it's predecessor to be honest....

IF you played the first one, this story may seem a little unnecessary.
IF you haven't....you will want to play the first one.

This is a game for people who enjoy cute little pixel games, who want to watch sad little cinnamon rolls break and get consumed by their own demons (and possibly try to save these little cinnamon rolls)

IF you want a good story, or something a little more puzzle/challenge/action/etc. based -- maybe pass on this one.

Transparent Black is a little adventure role-playing game with multiple endings that can be cleared in half an hour, set in a classroom when it's already after school, in which you play as a hopeless girl.

Played the game and unlocked all the endings. interesting if i can say but the translation quite bad .

I wish that once we got to know the name of the characters, they kept being shown,just like in Confess my Love. (That being because I already forgot the name of half the cast ;-;)

Overall, followed Y'Shaarj's advice, got really depressed, and wasted a lot of time trying to get all the achievements.

EDIT FOR NEW UPDATE / DLC: Incredibly, the day after I made this review, a patch came out that addressed most of my concerns. The translation has been significantly improved, and I'd say it's perfectly passable now. It's still not perfect, but I'd say it's more on par with the translation in the previous game now. Way more coherent and easy to read.

Transparent Black is a neat little gem of a game by a Chinese developer that was made for a game jam. You play as a nameless girl that is struggling to cope with the constant bullying of her classmates, and as the player you make some simple choices that determine how she will react to the ever growing anguish in her heart. I can't really say any more without spoiling it, so I'll refrain. It's quite short, clocking in at about 1 - 2 hours, depending on how clever you are or how quickly you jump into a guide.

Before you decide to try this game, please make sure to go play the developer's previous title, Confess My Love, as it will add a lot of context and story that gets built upon. It's free, and despite the developer saying that Transparent Black isn't a sequel to it, it's pretty clear that Transparent Black builds on the story set up in Confess My Love, or at the very least heavily references it.

The art style of the game is beautiful, depressing, and creepy. It uses minimalism well, conveying enough detail visually to make you understand exactly what's happening while giving you plenty of flat space that you're likely to project your own details onto, which further enhances the depressing atmosphere and horror of the game. The music is also perfectly fitting.

In summary, this is a short but very memorable little horror game at a very cheap price that's worth your time. Just make sure you play Confess My Love first to get the full experience.

I really enjoyed Confess My Love so I was very intrigued by this supposed "non-sequel". It's vastly different from Confess My Love in terms of design and gameplay, which I appreciate because it allows the dev to show more aspects to their style. Despite the surface differences, these games are like two sides of the same coin. It's interesting to see the indirect impact of a story from one game carry over into another, shown from a fresh new perspective. The bleak and minimalistic atmosphere is well done and fits perfectly. I love how the story is revealed bit by bit and it is a surprisingly impactful tale of bullying. The game may be short but it has plenty of secrets and multiple endings. All in all, it continues to create the possibility for more; I for one would love to see this universe expanded on.

Um... I really liked the first one, so when I saw that another game was there, I was really excited. But then I noticed that the game felt kind of rushed... I'm not dissing the creators, but I don't know if it was the mistranslated text, or some of the art, but I was a little disheartened. Next, I found that there were two endings I could figure out myself. Which is quite a shame, as the first was terrific with 20 endings and all! I thought they could've done something way different, I loved that Liza was the new main character, but in my opinion, they should have gone with a new ending of some sort. But maybe you can get a better kick out of the game than me, please, give it a try, and if you don't like it, refund it. It's only a buck, and the game lasts about thirty minutes. I'm recommending the game for this reason.

-Note- To sum this up incase you don't like reading, expierience this game if you liked the first, and then decide if you will refund it or keep it.

Played the game and unlocked all the endings. Game is pretty intersting to play. Some people complained about translation issues, but it seems to be fixed on the current version I've played. The story doesn't seem much if you don't poke around and find diferent endings, but it's rewarding once you find a new game path. Worth trying since the game is dirt cheap.

Also, it is not required, but play Confess My Love for backstory and a way to unlock a hidden achievement.

The game's really short, abouttt less than an hour of playtime, but for the cheap price it makes sense.
It's super polished for an (I'm assuming) RPGMaker game, and it actually kinda freaked me out a little. It's a SUPERRR dark game, but the endings are interesting. My favorites have to be Transparent Black and White with Black . The translation is passable, but very bumpy, I'd suggest the dev work on it in the future. The art style is beautiful and minimalist, I really, really liked it.

It'd be nice if the story had been expanded upon a bit, but that didn't bother me too much in all honesty.

TLDR; a polished, enjoyable game worth the price if you're into RPGMaker stuff and don't mind some awkward dialogue.

This is one of the few games where I wish I had another option for whether or not I recommend this game. The game has some significant flaws, but given the low price point I did feel like I got value out of the experience.

Let's start with the good:

The aesthetic - The art style and music, while simple, really helped hold things together.

Replayability - There are multiple endings. I'm not sure how many, but at the time of writing this, I've found 2 different endings and only have 2/11 achievements so it seems like there are still more things for me to find.

The bad:

The translation - As others have noted, the translation needed a lot more work. For a game that is entirely story driven, the translation needed to be much better. While I could at least figure out the meaning in the majority of the text, there are still a couple parts where I have no idea what the game is trying to communicate to me.

Options - There are none. No keybindings or resolution options. To the best of my knowledge, the game only shows you the controls the very first time you start the game.
Edit: There is an options menu as the developer pointed out. Pressing F1 will take you to the options menu. There are currently no resolution options, but you can rebind keys.

Gameplay - Searching can get a bit frustrating. Searching the desks can yield different results depending on which side you search from. While this does make some level of sense, it's compounded by other issues. The main issue being that sometimes you have to search a spot twice in order to get something out of it. So you search all 4 sides of a desk and get the same reaction each time and assume there's nothing there. Well no, because you needed to search one side twice in order to get an item.

Final thoughts:
It's a game with a bad translation, some frustrating game mechanics, and a playthrough takes about 20 minutes. All that said, I found the story and overall atmosphere compelling enough to keep playing and searching everywhere to try to find all the endings. Given the low price point, I felt like I got enough value out of the game and still have probably another hour or so to go if I want to try and find everything. I'm giving this game a thumbs up because I enjoyed it despite it's flaws, but there are definitely issues I could see being deal-breakers for most people.

The story is centered around a high school girl who is bullied by all her classmates and also has a bad home life. The game itself is very short (around 15-30 minutes of gameplay), with a typical RPG top-down play-style. You investigate areas in the game world, interact with NPCs, read dialogue, etc.

The story is very dark, and without revealing spoilers, may lead you to take revenge upon your classmates. This is the route I found myself taking, as I like to speak with and inspect everything. A thorough kind of play-style will lead you to an unhappy ending.

The biggest issue with this game is the translation. I could barely understand what characters were talking about. Translations are extremely loose, and often times do not mean what I assume was meant to be said. It was extremely distracting, and kind of ruined the experience for me.

While I think the price is right at $0.84, I cannot recommend this solely on the translation issues. A story heavy RPG is dependent on the dialogue. If the player struggles to understand what is meant, then that is a serious problem.
