VR Robotics Simulator is an engineering tool used for industrial robot simulation, design, layout, rapid prototyping and reach analysis built exclusively for the HTC Vive.

With VR Robotics Simulator, you can build a robotic cell and program your robot within minutes. You can conduct reach studies to select the correct size and type of robot arm, choose the best positioning equipment for your application and use it as a Guided Sales tool to help customers visualize solutions. Using VR Robotics Simulator you can:

- Browse a large selection of pre-configured robotic work cells from the Selection Halls. This will allow you to examine these different work cells in detail and develop an appreciation for their relative size and capabilities.

- Includes a variety of 6 axis manipulators and delta robots.

- Cells include a variety of single and multi-axis positioners such as headstocks, tilt/rotate, skyhook, drop center, H frames, ferris wheels, floor/ceiling tracks, and multi-axis gantries.

- Build a cell from the ground up in real time. Save your creations for later use.

- Experiment with several different tooling options such as arc welding, spot welding and vacuum/magnetic/claw grippers.

- Learn about robotics and how to operate VRRS from the Training Room. This will cover basic robotics concepts, how to operate the various arms and positioners in VRRS, and how to construct your own robot cells.

- Import a variety of model formats for viewing in VR. Supported formats:

- OBJ (with MTL file)
- 3DS
- FBX
- STL
- DXF
- DAE (Collada)
- X3D
- Blend
- GLTF
- PLY
- 3MF

VR Robot Simulator CANNOT export programs that can be used on vendor-specific controllers such as Fanuc, ABB, Motoman, UR, etc. You CAN export points out as XML relative to the robot base. This program is intended to be a low-cost entry point to demonstrate the potential for robot cell design in VR.
If you want to do virtual programming for a specific robot arm and export the program to the controller you will need to contact the vendor and purchase the appropriate offline programming software.

Accomplished my goal of teaching me about industrial robots. This is pretty detailed. It's not a game, very sim-like. There are a bunch of example setups to watch in action to better understand how the robots operate.
Once you understand the operation you can set up your own assembly lines like a giant Rube Goldberg machine.

It seems like a great game, just the Valve Index controlls suck!

Not many hours, however it helped with understanding how the robotics aspect of manufacturing works, which is especially helpful as a student technician

Very good with a lot of potential. Perfect to develop concepts for seadoned programers as well as for getting an introduction to the robotic world. Very affordable too. I strongly recommend.

I've been working as a Welding Robot Engineer/Operator and program designer in Satakunta FInland utilizing a Customized Yaskawa/Motoman Robot With the DX200 Block w/ 500a Welding machine. And i am pleased to see this pop up on steam.

+The software does a decent job at basic info of Teching you how to operate a robot.
+A big selection of different frames and robotics to choose from. (that includes a Tank, for some reason)
+Very open to customize.
+Really easy to pickup and learn.

-Hand held devices do not scroll through their own interface. Tough utilizes softwares own.
-Placing down Objects can be tidious.
-Objects Getting caught on your "hands" and no way to delete.


I recommend this software to anyome who's into robotics and might want to try it out.

I have been looking for a robotics VR application and I'm glad I found this one! Really gives a great sense of scale to be able to walk around and show people the inside of a robot cell. Being able to see the different size robot arms really gives an immediate sense of how big they are. Plus you can just reach out and grab the robot and start moving it around and setting points, which is super cool! There's a bunch of demos included that show you some of the things that you can do and some in-game tutorials to learn how to run the system.

I highly recommend this application for anyone interested in robotics.

We've been using this application in Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, and oh boy, we are impressed!

We will be continuing the usage and exploring of this software and can't wait for the final release :)

I just stepped in and built a cell I'm currently working on at work. I mean, I made it as accurate as possible without any of our CAD data, which is a feature that is "Coming Soon" according to the in-game lobby!

This will be very useful for design and prototype stages at any automation company once CAD modeling is implemented! I know at work we run into some issues that weren't caught in design. Having software like this could prevent the kinds of issues I face at work.

As for using this software, it is pretty user friendly. I didn't go through all the tutorials as I was eager to step in and get my hands on, but from what I could figure out most of what you need is there for robotic controls. Placing objects into a scene is nice, though sometimes wonky! I couldn't place a fumehood to save my life (somewhat literally? Haha). Teaching the robots is sweet with the drag and click functionality. Not having a wired pendant is the best thing I could ask for too lol. I also loved the names of the robot manufacturers, very smooth.

I have used this extensively during the beta round and also since release, and it has come a long way since it started. It's a great addition to the suite of industrial VR simulation tools that are coming on line. The ability to walk around inside a robot cell is super cool!
