Note for 2020 Winter Update
Dear Drummers,
Welcome to the 2020 winter update of Into the Rhythm VR!
As we mentioned, we are bringing you the new features and content.
Please see the changes we have made below.
1. More Speed Options.
As we promised, we have added 4 more speed options: x4, x6, x8, x10. With those speed options, we expect you to play difficult levels much easier since you will be able to see the gaps between notes more clearly.
Plus, we have implemented memory function which will keep your speed setting in a next round.
2. Fever System
Also, we have added the fever feature that multiplies your score depending on your accuracy. It will be activated when you fulfill the fever gauge on the right in a designated time. The bonus will be increased from x2 to x2.5 and finally x3 by consecutive fever.
3. Auto Chart (Beta)
Enjoy your favorite songs on Into the Rhythm VR without complicated procedures! By putting your .mp3, .wav or .ogg files in the ‘sounds’ folder, the game will make a chart by itself. We are still improving the algorithms for better accuracy, and will let you know when it works.
4. Additional Song
New track ‘Carol of the bells - Zero Cover’ is added. Not like previous songs, we focused more on implementing drum patterns, especially in the hard level. Please share your opinion about it.
5. Bug fix and optimization.
There are many fixes in this update, but below two are the most important parts.
a. Key sound issue: Each note in the original tracks will make a sound correctly when you hit it.
b. lighting Optimization: We have removed heavy graphic effects and resources, so the workload is significantly reduced(loading time and input latency is reduced as well).
There are more things coming for you, so stay tuned.

About the Game
Into the Rhythm VR is a drumming experience brought to virtual reality. You are given drum sticks along with 6 drums. Follow the dropping notes to play the awesome music you always wanted. All you need is a place to sit, and motion controllers to strike with rhythm!

Liked this game, unfortunately no more updates coming in. Almost 2023 now, I lost hope for this game. Please do not buy it. This game is dead.
Wanted to provide a 2022 review into this game. The games hit on the wrong time. This game could have been perfect, but it's not, and that's what's extremely unfortunate about this game. Makling custom songs are very wonky and needs refinining before i will purchase this game again. The custom song feature only places a couple notes - even on hard. Custom drums may be advertised but there is no guide on how to unlock them. Custom song feature frequently crashes with your songs. Overall very unpolished and the price tag is not worth it. Sorry
This could have been the drumming game of choice for any rhythm game fan because of the good controls and general concept but the music is quite annoying. It has 27 tracks tho. This game with the music from Ragnarock would have been the top rhythm VR game.
Has this game been abandoned? There has been no discussion about it for a very long time in the forum. I picked it up yesterday and it's a fantastic idea, but the tracks that are included are not to my liking but I thought I could get past that by using the import feature which is supposed to generate charts from my own mp3 files. Well, it did generate charts, which is great, but there is no sound from any of the drum pads as soon as the song starts. I tried a half dozen different songs and there is no sound from the drum pads on any of them. The pads work fine on the included songs and you can bang on them while the song is loading but once your custom track starts playing, that's it, the drum pads go silent. Please fix this issue if you're out there? It really is a great game.
Despite searching for a new musical game like Guitar Hero for many months which incidentally was renewed today after playing on it at my sister's place, I have found Into the Rhythm to be a fun, satisfying change. The drum display is simple and not-too-over glorified with bands distracting you from the whole point of the game - the music. The only downside to this game so far is that there aren't many well known songs or any songs I know on there. More songs would improve how much I play and game sales as £15 was a bit steep for no original songs - everything looks to be done by the same person. Backdrops could also be a extra feature with an unlocking system possibly. Quick question for pro players - I haven't changed the drum set and was wondering how this was achieved? Thanks and hope this game improves so I can recommend it to my VR friends.
Precise and fast hit detection is crucial in simulations like this, and this app often fails at it. It can still be enjoyed if used as a casual drumming simulator but the £15/$20 price tag is absolutely unjustifiable. Paradiddle is many times better than this and costs only £8/$10. I might change this review to 'Positive' some day if the developers significantly reduce the price.
So instead of just hitting the right pads at the right time this game adds sounds on top of the track that don't even really fit the song half the time. Would rather just see a giant "Missed" on my screen instead of a random sound over the tracks that throw off all sense of rhythm you might have had.
Then there is the actual hit detection of the pads. Dear god it's bad. Controller in the pad for more than 3/10th of a second? Cool enjoy "hitting" the pad again as you move the controller out of the pad area. Even after working on getting the sync to what seemed correct, everything falls apart when the stock drum "Crash" sound plays over so well made DnB.
The only thing I got from this is a source of new artists (artist? seemed like all the music was made by one person) to look at.
My never ended search for a goo VR drum game continues. This is not it.
Hit registration is spotty. The drums are not arranged like a drum kit and the sounds change
depending on the song so one minute your snare is a snare the next song it's thee base drum.
The music is a mix but majority of built in songs do not have an interesting drum part. There is a song
editor mode but due to the other issues I had no desire to try it.
Just overall, not a very good game. It feels cheap, even though you're paying 20 dollars, and it just doesn't have a good feel to it. Sometimes it missed notes, even when I clearly see my drumstick hitting the drum. It also gives no instructions on how to create your own songs, or customize other parts of the game. Overall, it just sucks. Would not recommend paying 20 bucks for this.
Really great game but if you have the Windows Mixed Reality headset you are best to get this from the Microsoft store becasue the tracking is much better for some reason.
I had fun, could be pretty amazing to have a lot of skin and background to win (or buy with points? or cash? or whatever..). But we really need to have more songs. I understand it's probably a thing with the song's rights, but it would be a great way to stay focus and play a lot more than only with those we have.
One of the most fun VR games to get when you first get your Vive.
Has a great Guitar Hero / Rock Band vibe.
The only problem is that none of the songs are famous songs, it's all indy or unknown artists.
The music is good, but it's a pretty small selection of music.
There's no downloadable content either to expand your collection.
Barely got to play it because of Oculus' black screen bullsh**.
But from the small amount of time I got to play it w/o the frustration of Oculus, it was amazing.
Really, REALLY fun and I got into it pretty easy.
I was skeptical, but I got it on sale and I'm very satisfied. Just wish I could play it more without having issues thanks to Oculus.
(The game is fine, works 100%. The issues I have are straight from Oculus' software.)

Worst Rhythm game on VR. game is out of sync with the music. Hit detection is off, can't add any song like the video stats..
Stay clear of this mess of a rhythm game. get Audio Shield that works flawless & you can play any song.
Pretty great drumming game. Not perfect, I'll nitpick a bit here.
When hitting two drums at once, the circles need to be different shapes or something. Because of the angle, it is incredibly difficult to tell how different beats are aligned and this would go a long way to solving that. A lot of VR rhythm games are making this mistake.
The songs are pretty good and there's 26 of them with 3 difficulties each, so you won't get bored quickly, but they are all one genre, and except for Fur Elise, I don't recognise any of them. There's a big opportunity lost here and hopefully future patches add more varied songs. We need some mainstream english ones too.
I was looking for something with drums in VR. I'm no drummer but wanted to learn, or at least try.
I first looked for realistic stuff, then I stumbled onto this one and decided to give it a go.
The simplistic drum layout (only 6 drums) was first repelling, but I decided to go with it and play a little.
2 hours later : "hey, this is really fun after all !".
I even started to make a custom track. The provided editor is fully functionnal and easy to use (I used the flat version for more precision).
I guess drummers won't like it, but for anyone else : go have fun smashing those drums and try to get a decent score.
I have only played 1 hour so far and I can say that this will definetally be one of my main VR rhythm games, and thats coming from someone who has almost 100 hours in Audioshield. When you play this game you just lose yourself to the beat, it's amazing. (RIP my arms so after a hour of hard mode, hehe) Keep up the great work!
As someone who has a passion for all types of rhythm games, I decided to give this one a try. After playing another VR rhythm game that auto-generated the notes for songs, it was a relief to see this game has note placements that actually follow the beat of the song. The BPMs and sync are well done and the game includes an option to adjust global sync if it feels off-sync. At the time of this review, there are only 20 songs and not too much variety in genre, but there is a built-in editor that allows you to write charts to any MP3 or WAV file you have. The graphical presentation is a very well done and nice to look at, including the option to customize the appearence of the drums and drumsticks after playing a certain number of songs. My only gripe is that sometimes a drum won't register a hit when I'm almost certain I swung my controller correctly, but it could be that I'm not fully used to the motion controls yet. Definitely recommended for anyone who enjoys rhythm games.
I should be born as octopus.
Well I thought it should something like drums, but this is hard as french kissing a cobra. You should be an octopus to play this game. I don't know who these peoples with top scores on leaderboard panel.
Also this game has LOTS of techno music. First rock track opens on 3rd level, that sucks. Nevertheless on high level you will get more different types of music, chiptune, opera style, rock and may be something else. But if you want to open it you should complete opened musics on S at any level. That sucks too. I don't like techno, I don't like dub'step, after playing 2 hours I am completely dubstepped -_____- Why? Why don't you open all music at the start and make it by genre?
Game has it's own editor, you can add your tracks and create your own paths. I don't know is it possible to do this on desctop, but in VR it doesn't seems very convenient.
Well main idea is that you should have 8 hand to play this.
Very hard.
I am not pro drummer, but also are not complete noob, still I don't understand how to play this on NORMAL level sometimes.

I believe a lot of the information on my review is no longer up to date. However, I still think this is one of the best, if not the best, drumming game in VR. They have added 6 new songs since my update. I believe they have streamlined the process to upload your own songs and create your own beatmaps in VR for Oculus.

Original Review Below:
I can confirm this game works on Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers. The only issue I had, and I'm not sure if it's an issue with the Rift or with the game, was that I couldn't change the look of the drum set. Which was weird, because all the other customization options worked except for this one. + The game starts off with 4 songs which you have to get an S rating on at least the easiest difficulty on each song, before unlocking the next set of 4 songs. There's a total of 20 songs in the game library. Most of the songs were from NTWO Studio (Korea) the developer, but some of them were from Mike B. Fort who had much better songs, while the dev songs were uneven in quality and had varying genres of music.
Anyways, what really sets this game apart is all the customization options. You can adjust the height, you can set the delay (they have a handy tool to measure any problems with visual or audio delays), you can play a song on three difficulties from easiest to hardest and you can play it at normal speed or half speed or twice as fast, or 1.5x. There's just lots of options.
As I said, I couldn't change my drumset but the option is in the menus. You can also switch the VR environment (there's only 2 though, one is the default you've already seen and the other is a nicely done forest).
I had a blast using the very easy to use VR editor where you can beat down your own drum interpretation and share it with others. In fact, I did that myself easily on my first try after watching a quick tutorial. However, I don't know if you can add your own songs and I didn't see an option to do that. Basically, you can edit the in-game songs. They do describe the ability to edit your own songs, so maybe I missed something.
Anyways, is this better than Drums Hero VR or Drummer Talent VR? Not exactly. But it does offer something very different with all the customization options. I do recommend this game simply because of this. Honestly, I wish there was a VR drum game that had the awesome songs of Drums Hero, with the realism of Drummer Talent VR, and with the customizations of Into the Rhythm. Still, this was fun to play.
Rate 8/10 ... changed score from 7 to 8 after discovering how easy it is to add your own beatmap or drum note highway to your own songs and play in VR, and how fun doing that is
UPDATE:
Apaprently the game now is listed as having Oculus Rift support and they are working to make it even more compatible (awesome). Also, you can unlock the drum sets but it takes playing 100 times to unlock :O ... And lastly, you can add your own songs using the 2D editor and share if you have license rights (but I still prefer the VR editor which is so easy and fun to use)

Oh boy, I didn't realize how easy it was to create your own "beatmap" (drum notes) to your own songs for this game. I freaking created a beatmap for Tool Stinkfist HELLL YEAAAHH!!!!
All you have to do is:
1) Have a .wav or .mp3 format of your favorite song
2) Start ITR directly from Steam Library
3) Choose 2D VR editor
4) Create New
5) Choose .wav or .mp3 file
6) save (it should save as ITR) *
7) Start ITR VR
8) Choose VR editor in the menus
9) Open new project
10) Select the file you want (of the mp3 or wav)
11) Hit record **
12) Do your best beat map or drum note highway in VR (feel the beat young padawan)
11) Save and exit VR editor
12) Play from custom songs
* Note if you got an error on saving in the 2d editor, it won't work in VR editor either (this happened on 46 & 2 and I don't know why, the steps above worked on all other songs)
** On Oculus Touch, you have to point at the tab like a laser is on your controller then trigger
That's it. Your score will save and your IRL friends and family can play it. Obviously, it's better if you have some drumming knowledge (I have zero except from games, but even my crappy beatmap was so much fun!!!)
