don't even bother getting this game tried playing it on a oculus and it is complete garbage not to mention the screen goes grey most of the freaking time when playing it
This isa fairly technically involved, and engaging VR narrative. You spend alot of time in the 360 portion getting to known the Children of the Corn townsfolk, and then when it's your turn to die you get to explore a house in 3D rendering graphics mode. I liked it, and it's quite good. This is why it's more dangerous to live in a small town, it is easier to be murdered and killed because no one will find you.

Just a heads up, this review has spoilers.
despite the illusion of choice given to you in this game 99% of what you do in this game DOES NOT MATTER, and 80% of the choices will just get you the bad ending/game over screen.
checking in on all the locations does nothing to affect the good end of the game where you survive the killers fury.
The ending you ask? after escaping a basement set up by the off-brand Ghostface the person who called your character in to investigate the murders (who is probably the killer) suddenly tells you to leave town for your safety, which makes NO SENSE.
After an hour of sifting through the iffy controls you don't even get to find out who the killer is!
As for the VR aspect, it was done poorly, during EVERY cutscene there's this weird black border directly outside your line of sight to keep you from turning around to see the camera man for when they were recording all this.
Not to mention when your presented with a choice its fixed to a point of view on the headset screen meaning your going to go cross-eyed if you attempt to read the choices.
The game is okay, and it definitely reeks of being an advertisment for another low quality CW11 drama series, but it is not worth the 2 dollars! My coat rack was scarier than this game! that's not even a joke! My reaction is on youtube.
This is probably the cheapest VR game I've played, both in terms of how it looks and its actual price. It's also the first VR game I've played that uses real video for its cut-scenes, which is cool, and I'd like to see this explored more in VR.
This game takes place in the first season of the TV series 'Slasher.' The name being attached to this game is the sole reason I had any interest in this game, but seeing the $0.99 base price amounted to an immediate purchase. After about six minutes of gameplay, I was met with the "Thank you for playing Slasher" message. Yup. I died and lost the game in about six minutes. That's the summary of my first adventure with this game. Of course, there is much more to see from this game, I'm sure, and I plan to explore it more later, but if you're looking for a professionally made tie-in with the value of something along the lines of Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul, or John Wick, you'll probably be disappointed. I don't think this game is anything special, but it's definitely worth the purchase if you like to collect games and you've watched the series.
Tl;dr Tie-in to the TV show 'Slasher.' Feels cheap and is cheap. Probably not for anyone who isn't already a fan of the TV show. You get what you pay for.

In Slasher VR, players take on the role of an undercover reporter that has been sent to the town of Waterbury to investigate a string of murders that have been committed by a serial killer known only as The Executioner. Starting off in a dark motel room, an ominous call from a woman leads gamers to believe that there is more to the story than meets the eye, as it seems that the reporter has a deeper connection with the individual. However, this plot point isn't explored any further, other than in a short, anti-climatic end scene.
The gameplay itself is unique, and Slasher VR seems to be the first game to incorporate 360 FMV sequences alongside a couple of fully explorable areas. It's reminiscent of old FMV horror games such as Harvester and Phantasmagoria, though with subtle modern twists and in a first-person point of view. The title also comes with a B-Grade quality akin to these older games, with bad acting and cheesy dialogue to complete the ensemble. There's no tutorial, however there are only a couple of buttons that can be used, one to move, and one to pick up items, and as such the controls aren't difficult to figure out.
With that said, there are a plethora of issues with this release that should be noted. First off, many of the scenes that are included in the trailer and screenshots on the store page simply do not exist in the actual game. An even bigger problem is the terrible quality of the 360 FMV sequences, moreso during the few kill scenes that actually show The Executioner. The scenes are far too dark, and they're also blocky and pixelated. There is only one true ending, and it's as short as it is anti-climactic; I even attempted to see if there was an alternate ending by visiting every location and surviving, which made me sit through every 360 FMV sequence yet again with no way to skip them. If you venture to try and find all of the kill scenes, you'll be disappointed to find that there are only two.
For the price, Slasher VR isn't terrible, but it's by no means something that you'll be missing out on if you don't decide to partake in the experience. It leaves much to be desired, and it would benefit from more varied kill scenes, as well as branching endings; or at the very least, a better ending overall. The developer should consider taking down the media that is not included in the game, as it's in a way false advertising. The store page also shows much better quality for the 360 FMV scenes than what is actually presented in the final product.
Rating: 2.0/5.0 - It's not awful, but it's not great.

Slasher VR is not a bad game especially at this price point but it does leave a lot to be desired for.
As someone who regulary plays horror games, watches horror movies, and was a total nerd writing horror fictions in my earlier years I like any game that can actually surprise me and catch me off guard.
This game relies on two of the biggest tropes out there "jump scares" and ominious music.
What I Liked:
The ominious music and ambient sounds are actually quite good and more than once kept me unnerved. I'd hear a footstep and quickly turn around to find nothing behind me. Stuff like that is always enjoyable because it creates that fun adrenaline rush of fear.
The jumpscares are pretty predictable but still good for a scare.
What I Disliked:
This game uses a mixture of virtual reality and 360 video.
The virtual reality footage isn't that bad in all honesty and does a pretty good job of recreating of the 360 video landscape.
But the 360 video is where it breaks immersion at least for me and my Vive. On recordings the video looks fine but when viewing the 360 video in the helmet the aspect ratio really throws things off.
You feel like you're a giant who needs a new pair of glasses. It just kind of throws things off for me.
Overall:
The game is a murder mystery where you kind of choose what direction you take and each choice may or may not have consequences.
The controls are pretty self explanitory using a teleport mechanism and grip buttons to open doors and interact with objects.
For .99 cents I don't feel cheated and I managed to get a slight scare from it.

i liked it. controls were straight forward with the vive. the experience takes a new approach, mixing together 360 3d movies and gameworld. it gave me some pretty good scares. good content at a good price!

Ok Investigate the house: Few sec latrer the COMPLETELY FLAT thing like got me and then another black screen after death i think ))) !!!
PROS: is very good at scale things, feels like in real room and the objects is as it shold be in real world.
But cant play... may be its VIVE only?... So if you have an oculus with touch you can play but probably will appear same bugs.
I dont believe just hope some of the issues will be fixed in the future =)
