D'LIRIUM - это экспериментальный двухмерный шутер с элементами хоррора. Игра сочетает в себе некоторые механики, свойственные классике 90х годов, такие как поиск ключей, нелинейные уровни и другое. This game is special, and not in the usual way I see in most games. One on hand, there's so many here that I would love to achieve as a wanna be game dev; simple but effective upgrade system, a fun arcade experience, interesting health system, etc!
On ther other hand, as a player; the game has really good sound effects which I would say is very immersive. The game has interesting lore-or rather, mysteries~ so much to discover and learn! Ada is also a rather interesting protagonist, cute if you choose her to be.
Last note, I'm not sure why but this game somehow makes me feel bad for the enemies of the game without me even knowing anything about them, something about that bad ending that makes me feel sick whenever I enter manic mode and go on a killing spree. I'm usually into those in action games, but this game somehow changes that.
There's probably more positive things I forgot, but I'm looking forward to D'lirium Golden Rogue and D'lirium 2!

Try to have a nice New Year's eve party but something goes wrong when a eldritch box decided to open on its own at midnight.
Story - A
After the event of the eldritch box opening on its own. Ada now needs to find out what has happened and try to either save herself or her friends.
Game play - A-
Basic combat for both melee and range attacks, But a rather interesting choice for having to mange not only your health but also you sanity and toxicity as well. I do love the idea that you have a chance to come back when you lost all you sanity, but have a time limit if you can not get out fast enough.
Look and Feel- A
While a lot of it does look like something out of a RPG Maker game. It makes up for it with the levels after the intro.
Final Grade - A
For a random game I found on steam and a MLP horror game as well. I found this to be a fun game to play. Plus I really did like the sprit art work for the enemies. I hope that the next game that the devs are working will be just as good if not better.
For a little tip for the teleport spell. You fly a lot faster then the orb. So be mindful of that and try to be quick on the abort option when you are solid ground
Excellent graphic style but lacking a bit when it comes to gameplay, story and the number of levels. A solid base for an expansion or another title in a similiar manner. Great for the price but expected a bit more.
story is kinda ass, especially since it was translated using google translate, but the horror and gameplay is peak. The soundtrack is sick too

Game is fun
I bought this game around like 2017 or 2018 I think, but only commited to a full playthrough now. Probably for the better since the game is out of early access nowadays. This is one of those games that I feel like was made specifically for me. It's simply, completely, unapologetically self indulgent in every aspect.
Firstly, it's a top-down sprite based horror game, one that is very similar aesthetically to something you'd see on the RPG maker engine. If you have fond memories of stuff like Misao, Mad Father, or Corpse Party, this game will take you right back, even though it is on a completely different engine, and has gameplay that is much different from those other titles. Like those other games, it carries the same ultra edgy violence happening to adorable anime (or furry in this case) characters. And I just love that, I love any piece of horror media that mixes it's horror with extreme cuteness, as I feel it makes it more effective for a weeb/furry such as myself. The fact that the characters are so adorable to me puts a lot more pressure on me to make sure they come out okay in the end.
Second, the combat takes palpable influence from oldschool shooters (hell, I even recognize several of the sounds from Quake and it's expansions!) You even get one spell early on that lets you teleport to a little ball you toss around like in the final boss of Quake, and yes you can telefrag monsters with it! There's also a BFG type spell that just nukes groups of creatures and gibs them instantly. It borrows the Quad damage power up aswell lol
Lastly, as is probably the first thing most people will notice, this game's art style leans heavily on My Little Pony. Naturally, it's meant to appeal to the bronies, which might turn several people off. But listen, dear reader, i understand. I was a hater back when the show was new. But I was like 16, and the show has been done for like 5 years now. It's time to mellow out, kill the part of yourself that cringes, and let yourself enjoy some adorable technicolor horses. Or well, not that colorful in this game. Most of them will be covered in blood and slime. Some of them will be missing body parts. But I digress.
This game is more than just an amalgamation of it's influences however. It also adds many more of it's own little tricks to the mix. Other than a regular health bar, you also have a toxin meter and a sanity meter, and picking up certain items might decrease one type of damage but increase the other. That means you have to keep up with a balancing act of keeping all your meters down, and prioritize which is more important at a given moment. It's neat!
Though I gotta say, the penalty you get for losing your sanity is... not my favorite lol. You are basically teleported to "your personal hell", and you have to grab shards of sanity before returning to the normal stage. It's an interesting idea, but the personal hell gameplay is not as interesting as the regular stage, and takes a bit too long for my liking.
Unrelated to the sanity mechanic (mostly) is the maniac state. If you go on a rampage your character will become psychotic, and start enjoying the carnage a bit too much. On top of giving you a passive increase to insanity, it also affects the ending you get so... be warned. The only way to cure the maniac state is by saving the spirits of fallen enemies through a limited use spell.
Really, this game just has a lot of weird little mechanics like that. I'd say they're hit or miss, but honestly, I appreciate that. It's willing to experiment, it's willing to be completely self indulgent, and weird. It's not playing it safe to please anyone, it's brazenly doing whatever the fuck it wants, and pulling it off for the most part! I respect that immensely, more game devs need to be this hedonistic when creating video games. Hell, more artists in general need to be more self indulgent when creating anything!
It's Phenomenal! I've been playing it and boy is it challenging. But that's what these 90 style 2d games are supposed to be, Challenging!
