Farmington Tales

This is a very hard farming game. Many of the designs are really stupid. If you want to find a good farm simulator, stay away from this one.

Cons:
-Searching a lot of small items is bad for your eyes.
-In order to get water, you must complete a puzzle of broken pipe system.
-I hate mine sweeping game.
-The Farmer's Society decided to shut down my market just because I didn't have enough money to update buildings. All my efforts ended in failure.

I played Farmington Tales years ago and enjoyed it then. It has held up well. A good combination of Hidden Object, good story, interesting and goofy characters, and a variety of puzzles. There's not really a way to lose, so it's nice and relaxing and I usually end up humming along with the background music.
I did find one of the minigames to be almost impossible after the first few rounds the find the key game is nearly impossible once you get over a dozen cards but you can buy a skip so it doesn't stall the game at all. And a few of the HO objects are almost impossible to see, one was almost completely hidden behind the market window, and a few of the objects have very picky click targets that can cost a "no mistakes" bonus, but again, not a big deal and true of all HO games.
All in all 9.5/10.

I love this game. I've restarted it several times, though I don't think I've had the chance to complete it. It's a simple farming sim, hidden picture, and decorating game all smashed into one. The silly humor is nice as well.

I wanted to play a farming game and I found a Hidden Object farming game! That works! The story is adorable and sweet and you just want to keep winning and upgrading things to help out the elderly couple. There are lots of cats and animals in the pictures of Hidden Object games. The music/SFX match everything correctly and there is just so much to do! Farming is available too! Oh and there are mini games! If you are as good as I am at them (being able to do 2 out of all of them), then just make sure you have enough gold and you can skip it. Or actually keep trying... you might master 'em!

So alright, this is not a farming game you might think of... it's actually a cool, nifty game which provided me with lots of hours of fun! The ending is satisfying and all people get what they deserve. You can also continue to play over and over again -> to gain all of the trophies and loads of money!

There are no game breaking bugs, there are no crazy problems and it really is just interesting for anyone who likes these type of games! :D (The smiling piggy mailbox design FTW). Oh right, you can decorate your farm too! And there is lots of good, enjoyable humor! :) Thank you for the fun, interesting, Hidden Object, sweet gamey game!!! :) =) :>

a nice game which combines farming and hidden objects, I really like it

Give this game a go. Best thing about this game is you can play it offline if your Internet connection isn't the best. I enjoy both farming and hidden object based games, so any wonder that I enjoy playing this one too. I can easily lose myself in endless fun filled quests as there is always something to do which keeps me coming back to discover the newer quests which you find as you begin to unravel the objects required to accomplish them. Love how you can update the landscape and scenery and buildings to how you like. The whole experience gives you a country feel to the overall game play. I even enjoy doing the puzzles especially the one with the numbers. Very addictive could easily play for hours on end.

A genius mashup of hidden object mechanics with farmville builder mechanics. A true gem for fans of either genre, and a masterpiece for fans of both.

This is a charming game. Simple and easy to understand, but all the trimmings that go with a classic, peaceful farming game.

The added mechanics of Hidden Objects will either entice you or irritate you. Or, in my case, send me back to the eye doctor after straining to find those precious 3 gems every time.

The first time playing, all the dialogues are cute and entertaining. After that, skipping is a benefit. Sadly, you cannot skip the trader Manny's comments when closing out a hidden object game. Sigh. That would make replays perfect.

Still, if you're looking for one of those classic farming games that all you do is grow crops and livestock, this is your game. You can even skip the hidden objects, but you'll have to wait a while(or invest immediately in the crop upgrades).

Fun for more than one-time playing.

nice story and characters, amusing, enoyable, wish there was a sequel. got bored with the hidden object aspect and a few of the puzzle types but the rest was great, nice little game.

In this unique hidden objects, farming simulation game you help Farmer Floyd keeping his farm out of the hands of the bank people in Farmington Tales.

Floyd his wife named Dahlia became sick and hospitalized.
She could be cured but the health insurance wouldn't cover the treatment.
Farmer Floyd decided to get a loan from the bank to pay the bills.
As soon as Dahlia got better the banker came to the farm and asked for the money, which of course Farmer Floyd didn't have.

There are various ways to collect money.
Grow crops, sell them and run your own farmer's market.
Do mini games such as Minesweeper, Hidden objects & Memory.
With that money you can renovate the farm and compete against all the other farms in town for the yearly “Best Farm Award”.
The winner will be rewarded with a price of 100,000 coins.

There is enough to do in this game, and you can decide yourself how to play the game and earn the money.
Do you just want to play games? You can! If you mostly want to farm, that's fine too.
There is no time pressure and this makes the game very relaxing.

They really paid attention to details, everything was well put together.
The hidden objects were challenging, specially with the bonus tasks that you could for fill.
I personally really enjoyed this game.

One of my favorite HOGs. It has the common problem of repeating the same handful of HO scenes, but the quests and bonus goals add some variety, the farming sim is simple but fun, and the writing is unexpectedly funny, throwing a lampshade on the silliness of the game's premise. The only downside is the lack of Steam achievements (although there are in-game achievements).

A very capable and fun to play mashup of Stardew Valley farming/ trading paired with a hidden object game.
You play some aged farmer type guy, a 60+ year old farmer...NOT a pulitzer journalist or private investigatorette. Oddly enough to adhere to HOG game sales lore they put a young lady onto the store banner. She's actually just selling your produce at the store..the name is Kaylee ;D

Anyhow that farmer bloke took a massive loan to pay the wifeys health care bills. To pay it back the player is supposed to win the 'Farmer of the year' contest and rake in a whooping 100k prize money.

The hidden object part: Procedurally generated hidden object scenes based around places on your farm. Each HO scene has optional quests (fast object detection, find stuff from left to right, no misclicks ec.) and some gems hidden in it.
Quests and combo chains gain extra money during the scene, the hidden gems unlock new facilites on your farm (greenhouses, windmill etc.)
The objects are often hard to find but the hint system is pretty generous in the game.
Oddly enough in this game the hidden objects found are actually sold to some quirky trader for money unless they are quest items. This is all really convenient and simple, no inventory maagement needed.


The farm gameplay: You start of with a derelict slab of land with run down farm buildings and equipment. By selling your produce you can purchase farming upgrades, animals and eventually blueprints for farm facilities. Every now and again the game sprinkles in some minigames like sudoku, a tetris like storage puzzle, sokoban, pipe and so forth. Pretty much standard HOG fare but still entertaining. You can buy out of all the minigames for a lil coin fee in case you dont like sudoku or whatever puzzle it throws at you.
Farm upgrades are either straight up new facilities or just cosmetic stuff to pimp your place visually. All the stuff on your farm can be tinkered with visually so the player has some control over the look and feel of the farm. Really cute.
You have to water your fields, feed the anmials and harvest your ripe produce, this way the game keeps you on your toes constantly in between the hidden object scenes. Everything is running on global timers so you could also just sit there and watch the going-ons.
Last but not least you have to adjust the prices of your stock that is sold in your store. You can even do that within the hidden object scenes.
Theres a fair bit of flavor dialogue with other farmers , traders, the prize comittee etc. going on, so the game doesn't feel generic.



Final verdict: Excellent fresh take on the HO genre, really enjoy playing it.
The biggest issue I have with the game is that it runs at a pretty low resolution (i think 1024x768). My guess is that they did that to allow any sort of casual potato pc to run it.
Unlike most other HOG's this doesn't have the creepypasta and atmospheric ghost stuff you'd usually see. The whole game is pretty down to earth.
Great game, recommended for fans of either of the genre(s). Well worth the admission.

This is a great game that combines several casual game genres. To save the farm you must solve the hidden object puzzles, and then use the items in your inventory to help re-grown your crops. Then you harvest and sell them in the market place to gain the cash you need. Along the way you get to interact with a diverse cast of characters, some seedy and some with hearts of gold, but always with a humorous bent to their dialog. This is an all around fantastic interactive experience!

I usually don´t play hidden object games, but this one is brilliant. I loved how the farming game elements were woven together with hidden object play.
You need to help a farmer save his farm after mortgaging it to cure his sick wife. You interact with a bunch of wacky characters as you start fixing up the farm, though it is easy to skip any dialogue if that isn't interesting to you.
The hidden object scenes are extremely well done. The art is top notch, and I never had problems identifying even the smaller items in the scenes. They have a really clever way of catering to expert hidden object players without making things too hard for the less experienced- they add in a challenges at the top of each HO screen (things like find 3 items in alphabetical order, or chain together 5 items in five seconds). These give you extra money, and provide extra levels of challenge. They also have gems to find in every scene, along with occasional quest items, so every play through feels unique.
Rebuilding and running the farm is a lot of fun. You take the money you earn from cleaning up and selling the items around the farm to buy animals, crops, and make improvements. You get to pick different styles, so you can personalize the farm, and you get the watering, harvesting, and planting cycle that makes even more money. I really enjoyed getting my farm running perfectly.
There are also a bunch of puzzles that come up throughout the game, but you can skip if you don´t like playing them. Many are variations on games I've seen before, but with interesting twists. There were even a few I haven't played before, which is rare. They are all available to be played from the main menu once you have unlocked them, so any that really grab you can be played whenever you want.
This game is a ton of fun to play, and feels really polished.

This game for an insanely great price is a pretty awesome game! It has puzzles, hidden object scences, farming and quests. I am surprised how fun this game is actually! Two hours almost flew by for me on my first play through. Recommend!

How do I even start this review?
By telling you that this is a MUST buy if you like HOG/sim games!! The super cheap price seals the deal because you get so much for your money here!! It has tons of HOG locations (you unlock more as you progress), sim aspects of growing crops, selling eggs, wool, milk from farm animals, and improving the looks of your farm, mini games of various types, and the humor and dialogue of this game are outstanding!! You can't help but chuckle at some of the quests that you get (see some of my screenshots), and the story is comical as well and very well written. It even has voice acting at the start of the story!! AND....wait for it...you even get to name your dog! What more could you ask for?

The ONLY downside is that there are no trading cards or achievements, but trust me you won't miss them once you start playing :) I really can't recommend this game enough, and I hope this dev makes more games in the future!!!

I really enjoyed this. There aren't overly many scenes, but the objects in them are procedurally generated for the most part; so you can't simply learn where everything is. (Although you do get to know some after a while.)

The HO scenes themselves are pretty good; some quite well hidden things, some so obvious you can completely miss them. There are gems in each scene which unlock further scenes when you collect enough. There are also 'tasks' you can do in the scenes. Like find 3 objects from highest on the screen to lowest. Or find the closest/furthest apart items on your current list. Or get a chain of finding 4 objects fast etc. While these don't financially make a whole lot of difference, the make the HO parts more interesting.

You need the money to buy crops, animals, and upgrades for your farm. These also need watering/harvesting/feeding between playing the HO parts.

As you can see from my time played (14 hrs first run through) it got a little 'grindy' towards the end. And this is probably due to what I was going to raise as its biggest flaw; that the cows eat WAY too fast when you have filled the barn, that the crops require far too much watering, and take too long to grow, and that it's just far too hard to fill the shop with enough crops to keep up with demand.

However, it was only towards the end that I realised you can scroll all of the tabs at the bottom, and buy upgrades which mitigate these flaws nicely. I enjoyed it enough though that I tried again knowing this. And had the opposite problem; within only an hour or two I'd maxed out everything on the farm apart from the blueprints/farm upgrades. I had a full shop of the best items, and couldn't even farm anything as there was no more room. So it was a 'waiting grind' instead; waiting for people to slowly buy enough so I could afford all the upgrades. Very disappointing, and clearly not very well ballanced.

The puzzles are so-so; there are only a few, and they repeat with increase complexity. There's a minesweeper-like minigame, which only served to remind me what a flawed, lucky and frustrating game that is. Another example is the sudoku puzzles, towards the end getting pretty hard (for me, anyway; I'm no expert). So while they are interesting at first, after a few goes at each they are repetative and just seem like an intrusion. They can be skipped, but you need to spend your hard-earned in-game cash to do this.

So while it doesn't have the same mechanics as most HO games, it's suprisingly addictive if you like the genre; mostly because of the upgrade/selling stuff part. For the price it's amazing value to any fan of HO games.

This is a farm simulation/hidden object hybrid. There is a plot running through and I'm not going to spoil it but it definitely engages you. As well as growing crops to sell, you earn money by selling the things you find in the HO scenes. You use the money to buy upgrades for your farm. Also there are a few mini games that pop up in between scenes, including sudoku, mine sweeper, rope tangles and pipe puzzles amoung others. You can skip these if you want (and considering how bad I am at mine sweeper puzzles it's always a temptation). There are in game achievements but no steam ones as of yet. All in I recommend this game if you are a fan of simulation and/or HO games. Definitely worth the cash for the amount of game play and I can see myself replaying it. Only downside is that it's a bit too easy to get to the ending, I accidentally bought all the upgrades before I'd got all the mini-game cut scenes so now I'm replaying slower to get them.

Farmington Tales uncannily recreates the true organic farming experience - Rummage through your shed to find personal possessions to pawn, so you can make ends meet while waiting for a hipster to buy your $51 potato.

Seriously though, I was shocked at how well put together this inexpensive little gem was. The language/translation problems that plague so many other hidden object games were not present. I found zero misnamed objects. Zero. I was stunned. The story and the cut scenes made sense. The mini-games scaled in difficulty to provide some challenge over time. There were even sub-objectives within the hidden object puzzles to make them more challenging (finding objects in relation to one another, in specific order on the screen, quest to find a specific object over multiple puzzles). There were always clear instructions provided for the mini-games and sub-objectives. The attention to detail for a casual title was truly impressive.

There was one minor negative early on that I wanted to note. I had to turn the ambient sounds off after a couple of hidden object boards, and I left them off the rest of the game. For some boards, it was like being in a room full of malfunctioning See 'N Says. The barnyard animal noises were out of control. Sure the sheep goes baaaaa, but does she have to do it so loudly and so frequently?

Wonderful game! Right off the bat the voice acting sounded realistic, and the opening visuals were gorgeous. The hidden object puzzles were the right amount of challenging. Being able to choose what object you wanted to use the hint for was also a unique touch. The extra farm details, like upgrading parts of the farm, planting crops, and selling them in the market were also very engaging and motivated me to keep playing. I liked the additional puzzles and the quests, too. They were great details. Overall this was a great game that I would definitely recommend!

Really nice hidden object game with tons of bonus economy stuff to do between levels. You can plow fields and plant different fruits/veggies a la farmville, you can raise farm animals, you can choose all sorts of upgrades to add to your farm (with multiple versions of each depending on the style you like). There's a market that your customers come to and you can set the prices of all your products. You can even get quests from people for items to search for. It's surprisingly deep for a hidden object game. I feel like I spend more time farming than searching for hidden objects. And the writing is surprisingly funny! I think I saw a sequel to this somewhere, hope it comes to Steam.
