Loco Dojo

Please update this app description to remove "corss-platform multiplayer". For anyone who wants to play multiplayer between Steam VR headsets and Quest 2 headsets, it is _not_ possible. Even their store page is incorrect, which mentions it is cross-platform. It is _not_ cross platform. The reason is that Loco Dojo VR is released for Steam VR, and Loco Dojo Unleashed is for standalone headsets (quest, etc). These are two different games, and they're not compatible. Perhaps long time ago there was a compatible version across platforms, but no longer.

I wish I could give this a positive but the game is completely abandoned. It's meant to be played with others and would be so fun if only others were on here. It was one of the first VR games I played at a VRcade and I had a blast so when I got a headset I of course purchase it. Regrettably it is one of the few titles I regret purchasing due to no player base.

Pros: This is absolutely the most fun I've had in a VR game (and one of the most fun games of any type). It makes excellent use of the VR paradigm without needing a lot of physical space. Gameplay is easy to learn, but challenging to master. The trials are imaginative, very silly, and a riot to play. It reminds me of the best Nintendo Wii or Xbox Kinect games, but with updated graphics, and next-level immersion. This is one of a very few games that my two teenagers actually have fun playing together. Even my wife wants to play, and she hasn't wanted to play a video game since Parappa the Rapper! All this for $20 is fantastic.

Cons: None, really. The only improvement I could think of is to add more trials to extend the solo play experience. Even then, this is barely a 'con', considering the price of the game.

For reference, I'm playing this on Windows 10 21H1, Ryzen 7-5800x, 32GB RAM and Nvidia RTX 3060, with a Lenovo Explorer WMR headset and controllers.

I just finished my first Loco Dojo and Wow.
Probably one of the most underrated games out there.
It has 16 minigames, up to 4 players, customization, good soundtrack and animation.
I'm not sure this game is updated anymore but it is well worth it to pick up with a group of friends.
Honestly, a hidden gem.

Have you ever wanted to sit on a pig... and slap its butt? How about milk a cow with a smaller cow..? or slap bats out of the sky with sausage nunchucks? Well, now you can!

Loco Dojo is a collection of 16 mini games which you can play with friends in competitive multiplayer lobbies. Your goal is to win the games to earn coins which level up your belt color. The highest tier belt at the end, or first to get a black belt wins the event.

The Good Stuff

So we know that you need to acquire the highest tier belt to win the event, but how do you win games? Each round someone new gets to spin the wheel to move their tile across the board. Wherever their tile lands is what mini-game is played next. Each game is different, and all require a different set of skills. So if you're not good at one game, you might be good at another.

There's everything from a Jenga-like tower building game, hitting bats with sausage nunchucks to protect little piggletts, to slapping a pigs ass while you use a carrot to guide the pig to victory.. There's something in here for everyone to enjoy, and all of the games I found incredibly fun.

Loco Dojo has a great atmosphere and feel to it, and it keeps things light and whimsical with its hilarious mini-games.
You can play multiplayer, or challenge yourself with a single player game.

I have to say, while Loco Dojo is much better with friends, it's sometimes difficult to find lobbies with people to play with. This is because the game isn't released on the Quest 2 yet, but this is changing, and Loco Dojo is coming to the Quest 2 on October 7th! This should bring many new players, and they updated their matchmaking system with a quickmatch finder in preparation for the Quest 2 launch.

I absolutely adore the wooden toy artstyle, catchy soundtrack, and wonderful voice acting completed by Brian Blessed who plays the role of your host. Loco Dojo is a ton of fun, and if you have a few friends who have VR, then it's an obvious game to play to have some fun.

The Bad Stuff

To start, the game is very watered down. What I mean by this is that there isn't any depth to the game in any way. This means there is no currency or reward system right now where you can upgrade or add to the cosmetics of your character. This is fine, but it means that once you play for a while, eventually things will feel a bit empty and you'll be wanting more reward for your time played and games won.

Loco Dojo uses what I call "old VR tech". Which basically just means you're going to have a very basic physics engine and you're going to have objects clipping through walls and other objects. This leaves the controls and mechanics feeling a bit dated. Outside of this, Loco Dojo is fantastic.

So, is it worth it?

I really enjoy Loco Dojo, and I think its addition to the Quest 2 will really help its currently empty mutiplayer lobbies. Everything from the artstyle, soundtrack, and voice acting work is done very well. Unfrotunately Loco Dojo starts to feel a bit empty due to its lack of a reward system, but it's still enjoyable and I think it's still worth it.

I got to enjoy this game for about 15 minutes or so before it permanently broke. The game crashed, and then refused to boot up. This was back when I first got the game a few years ago.

Fast-track to 2021, I try it again, completely different computer, fresh install, and nothing. It still refuses to load.

I really wanted to like this game and suggest it for my friends, because the couple of games I got to try were damn fun. But if any of my friends could run into the same issue, it's not worth the recommend.

Great fun with friend, the archer mini game needs to be balanced though.

Amazing game for all age. Get it if you want to play vr game with friends

There's always random disconnection when playing as 3-4 players. My own guess is the dev only test it with two players. Always get a random disconnection before finish the match, so almost unplayable for me. The game itself is very good.

It was fun playing with other people. Reminds me of Pummel Party or Mario Party. There are some games that feel one sided based on what you play where you have to remove sea urchins from the whale. Other than that I had fun.

+ Most of the mini games are fun (once you figure out how to play them - the potato shooter took me a few tries before I figured out it's the one game in this whole app that makes use of grip buttons. The fish/shark mini-game I still haven't figured out).
The graphics are really pretty both from technical and creative side.

- You cannot choose what mini-game you want to play so something like a local competition with friends or family is out of question and that's a BIG fault. If it wasn't for that, this game would be a must on my party list.
Now you must go through all the board spinning and other animations to get to the fun stuff, you cannot replay the minigames you enjoy and often end up playing those you don't and you play on your own, because the community is small and most of my friends don't have VR.
I see this as major oversight on devs side. If it wasn't for this the game would get 1000 times more playtime and exposure.

Fun and well implemented online multiplayer only Mario Party VR. If you have a group of 2-4 VR friends, this game is a hoot.

The net-play implementation could have used some refining though. The game requires a rock solid internet connection for about half the mini-games or they become incredibly in favor of the players with less lag. For example the cookie tossing goalie game: One player is the goalie, the rest of the players are cookie tossers trying to knock the teeth out of the octopus. The cookies position is sent over the network every frame so the better internet you have the smoother the cookies will be. Throwing becomes incredibly difficult and inaccurate and the goalie can barely tell if a cookie's been thrown before it whizzes (more like chunks) past them.

Regardless, many of the mini-games are still playable and fun even with just 2 players. The nice hand carved wooden textures work better in VR than they look in the trailers/screenshots.

I purchased this game to play with friends and we all hate it, it’s very boring and repetitive. There’s only like 5 games that you can actually play before you start repeating yourself. I wouldn’t recommend blowing 20 bucks on a game with 30 minutes of content.

Loco Dojo is an awesome party game for up to 4 players that throws all kinds of ridiculous challenges at you. Ever wanted to race a pig through a swamp or spray chum on your chum to get them eaten by a shark? All in a day's work for Loco Dojo. There is a height adjustment for kids to level the playing field as well. We have a video of our family playing together:

This game is incredibly well made, it's not easy to find VR games by people that actually know how to make good video games.
The art style is coherent, creative and all around well executed.
The games are innovative and really fun, I've been looking for a game like this.
The only down side is that you can't always find people playing online (I think a good amount might play in private lobbies)

I originally played this game on the Oculus during the free play on new years eve. I found it to be entertaining and silly fun. I ended up using a Steam gift card to purchase this for the Vive. The solo challenges will run about 25 minutes. Some challenges are easier than others but fun all the same. There are enough different challenges to easily be replayable, and even trying to best your own score on challenges you've played is hard enough. Overall its fun.

I attempted to try the mulitplayer option but couldn't find anyone to play with so thats a little disappointing. A nice enhancement to his game would be to make a party game option where you can swap out with your friends (in person) and challenge each other.

The problem with this game is that is' a fun family/friend casual party game. The kind of game that you invite friends or family over to play on a drunken night for adults or a pizza party with kids. However, I don't know that many people will have multiple VR headsets with several rigs and several licensed copies of the game and there's really no option to switch players with the headset. You play online against other online players. I guess this game is fun if your friends already have a VR headset.

Of course multiplayer in VR is very sporadic. Game lobbies empty out for the next game du jour. I haven't played this game enough to tell you if the "community" is worth engaging with or abundant. I do recommend this game because you can see the polish, even if the mini-game difficulties vary widely. I could see it being fun with the right people playing with you. Not much fun solo though.

Simply Put, its a wario ware/mario party style board game/mini game game. WOW what a sentence, anyway without digressing. This game has levels of polish often not found in many VR titles. The games are creative, whacky, simply fun! the game has a great theme. I highly recommended picking this up and having some fun online or with friends! I hope we see additions/updates in this title because this game really deserves a playerbase Without it, and without friends, the singleplayer challenges willl only get you so far.

This game is a blast! This is basically the closest thing you can get right now to Mario Party VR. The aesthetic is charming and cute, and every little quirk adds to the fun. Played on HTC Vive, near everything felt perfect, ignore the review that says it's not for Vive.

Pros:
1. Cartoony, fun graphics that feel like care was gone into them, not some cheap voxel shit
2. Fun, chinese-theme soundtrack
3. Most mini-games play and feel great, with a little bit of that classic Mario Party "oh shit what am I doing" touch
4. Really funny. The piglet feeding game had me laughing so hard I didn't realize I was doing it completely wrong
5. This is something almost completely unique for the VR library.

Cons:
1. Some mini-games are really awkward or imbalanced. Specifically the javelin throwing game and the cookie throwing game. Throwing objects w/out any auto aim is something no VR game has really figured out; throwing feels fake and very difficult. In the javelin game my spears always hung to the left and it made it hard to hit the food, and in the cookie throwing game, aiming was just kinda out the window and the guy who defends' shields are so big you basically don't have a chance. Even knocking out the golden tooth and hitting a ton of the teeth didnt net me a victory. Don't know how you're supposed to win that one.
2. If I had to nitpick anything else I'd say the board game aspect isn't super interesting? But that's not really what you play for.

Overall, great game. Definitely pick this one up.

Super awesome fun, currently there are artist from the game that are hosting games! Its really fun and an interesting experience and i dont know if its just from me still being giddy about the whole vr experience but its just great. You play with a group of 4 people and the more people you have the more fun it is! its very easy to learn and can be super competitive! I do hope they add a more difficult mode for players that want a greater challenge. or maybe thats in solo? haha i dont know ive been enjoying multiplayer too much lol

Ridiculously good series of wacky minigames akin to a VR WarioWare crossed with Mario Party :) Tonnes of laughs - takes about 30-40mins for a full round and its solid fun, really got a sweat on after a couple of games! At the most basic level its a really good series of minigames, but tied up with the competitive board game race for the finish really takes it up a notch. Totally recommend. Would have kept playing if it wasn't nearly 1am ^^

Oh and few to no bugs noticed so it feels really solid and complete as a new title - can tell its had lots of playtesting. My mic audio cut out after a long play session but i think it might have been because I accidentally opened the dashboard while Advanced Settings was open and it conflicted with something.

Fun multiplayer game. It's full of minigames to play. Tried with one other person and we had a good time trying to figure out what to do for each challenge.

The challenges are tough and will have you chopping, shooting, rotating handles,stomping bugs and more. I would say its worth the sale price. It includes VOIP so you can talk to the people you are playing with.

The only negative is that the game cannot add more players once started. Everyone has to be ready to play from the start the whole way through.

It took me and a friend about 30 minutes to play through a complete round together.
